outrider: "It's interesting how the trash votes were distributed." ....................................................................................................... I suppose Trump did win most of the Alt-Right trash vote (Sounds grander and more menacing than Neo-Nazi, doesn't it? But, if a tiny, tiny fringe group is to be of ANY value in an election, someone must inflate them to "menace" status. Who would do that? Hmmm... a left-leaning press? Gosh, I really couldn't say.) I bet Hillary won all of the SJW trash vote!

turbotsat: Trump was hand-picked by Hillary's campaign as one of her preferred 'Pied-Piper' opposition candidates, and so allowed to flourish just enough by the obedient media, while they starved the serious Republican candidates of oxygen.

“elevated” Donald Trump with its “pied piper” strategy - Salon www.salon.com ... Nov 9, 2016 - An email released by WikiLeaks shows how the Democratic Party purposefully "elevated" Trump to "leader of the pack" ... What was not often acknowledged in Trump’s heated race against Democrat Hillary Clinton, however, was how her campaign fueled his rise to power. ...

WikiLeaks on Twitter: "Hillary Clinton campaign's Pied Piper strategy ... https://twitter.com/wikileaks/status/793217446777880581 ... Oct 31, 2016 - Hillary Clinton campaign's Pied Piper strategy (see attachments) ...

The PDF attachment to the Pied Piper email outed by wikileaks: https://t.co/BULsyXGYsh

To: The Democratic National Committee, Date: April 7, 2015

... Pied Piper Candidates ... In this scenario, we don't want to marginalize the more extreme candidates, but make them more "Pied Piper" candidates who actually represent the mainstream of the Republican Party. Pied Piper candidates include, but aren't limited to:

Ted Cruz, Donald Trump, Ben Carson.

We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to them seriously.

This was an attachment to be sent by the Hillary campaign to the DNC. It was attached for review to an agenda email for a meeting within the Hillary campaign, for discussion during the meeting: https://wikileaks.org/podesta-emails/emailid/1120.

The coverage imbalance was evident back then, during the run up to the primaries. No need now to wonder why establishment candidates had such trouble getting press coverage, when the press was directed to elevate Cruz, Carson, and Trump.

That's the scary part. In the beginning Trump was a joke, even called "fringe" by JT Republicans.

Trump is still a joke until he proves otherwise by the policies he pursues and the results he achieves as president. But the problem the American people faced in the election was the choice they had was between a joke and a women who is worse than a joke. The WikiLeaks emails showed the collusion between Clinton's surrogates, the DNC, and the mainstream media in America. It was disgusting to see brought out into the open and Hillary paid for her cheating. Add that to her emails, and her blatant profiteering on her public service and guess what? The joke candidate wins by default!

With Haley and DeVos's appointments and presumably more high profile appointments of people that the Left's bean counters so cherish above the evil white man Trump gets to prove his critics wrong through his actions. Words matter but actions speak louder. Sure the Left see's a Klan member in everything Republicans do so there will be no satisfying the social justice warriors. But the Left has vilified Trump to such an extreme that beating such low expectations will be easy.

In the beginning Trump was a joke, even called "fringe" by JT Republicans.

Here in the real world, Trump was drawing huge crowds and ahead in the polls virtually from the day he announced. And not everyone that he has selected had been a supporter. Do you want outsiders or not ?

Right on, Bill Murphy.

That's part of what has Hillary waking up screaming at night.

Lizz: Carson was chosen for being a loyalist and part of the inner circle from the beginning.

I know. That's the scary part. In the beginning Trump was a joke, even called "fringe" by JT Republicans. He didn't have anyone credible surrounding him because he was too much of a liability. The early Trump supporters seemed more like opportunists looking for a political boost. Now they are his "inner circle" and getting high level government jobs.

The 26th amendment, which set the voting age at 18, was passed when I was six (I'm 51 now). So, yeah, I guess you could call that "frequent" if you're, like, a redwood tree or a glacier.

Well what's the point of a Constitution outlining basic governmental structures and citizens rights if it can be changed by a simple majority whenever the passions of the day dictate? Fundamental changes should be fully considered. Even with such a system in place the issue of alcohol prohibition was banned and the allowed again within a very short period of time. Would you want your basic rights subject to such a mob mentality as allowed by a simple majority vote in Congress? It's fine when you are in the majority but at some point the shoe always ends up on the other foot.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, it does not, and if that's how simply your brain works,

That's why I never get stressed out.

I guess it's no surprise why Trump got as many votes as he did -- particularly funny when you agree with what he does when he changes his mind, like with Obamacare, Hillary being prosecuted, the Mexican border wall, and everything else.

You and I don't know exactly how Trump's cabinet will shape up once it's complete and to be frank, it doesn't matter if liberals object, because it doesn't matter who Trump appoints, the Left won't be happy regardless.

No, the man is a whack-job who thinks he is on par with Jesus and has paintings of him and Jesus together in his house. He's so out of touch you can't simply say because he's black he understands the plight of poor, black communities.

Uh-huh...well, anyway....besides attacking his personal religious belief, as I said, as a Black man who was brought up in poorer surroundings, the man knows first hand and would definitely be the best to teach and help Blacks break the shackles of institutionalize racism.

Which is why it's funny you now praise Trump for doing the same thing! Amazing you cannot see the hypocrisy! It proves you don't even have the respect for yourself to uphold your previous beliefs and promises. Not really a surprise, but still.

Sorry, the left and particularly Hillary had over 320 professional gossip hunters and lawyers out working for her to dig up any dirt that they could find on Trump and what they found was nothing that wasn't covered during the campaign.

Anything else, Smith?

Do you understand that being black does not equate to living in inner city poverty? You misunderstand demographics and and Ben Carson. The man does not live in a slum. He's a surgeon. And most black people do not live in inner cities.

Of course I do, I also know that the man was poor himself and knows what it's like and if he can elevate himself, other Blacks can do it as well without liberals feeling sorry for them and at every turn throw welfare and entitlements as a fix all for everything

1) Trump needs some token minorities to counter the image that he ran his campaign on and why he got elected (that he's protecting the privileged status of pissed-off white men -- sound familiar?).

Ahhh, so what was the reason why Obama didn't have enough Blacks in his administration? Maybe because he was a flat out racist? You libs and race, please keep it up, as long as you guys want to continue dividing the nation, you all will be regulated to the back swamps of being the minuscule insignificant party.

2) Carson is popular among a certain segment of Trump's evangelical base. Those who like the narrative of a black man who's lived a life counter to these people's narrative of a typical black man. Carson makes white evangelicals feel like they're not racist. They can look down on black people while admiring the ones that don't fit their stereotypes.

LMAO!

I like the choice of rich DeVois. What rich people want to bring up current condition superce than middle class politicians to eream standard up.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Carson was chosen by Trump for two reasons:

Carson was chosen for being a loyalist and part of the inner circle from the beginning. If it wasn't HUD and he hadn't had experience living in subsidized housing it would have been another position.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Nikki.Did someone present you World Atlas? Remind you there are two Koreas. Don't forget your boss hates UN.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The issue with guys like Carson and other GOP politicians is their adherence to rigid ideology, even in situations that require some nuance or flexibility. They are the kinds of people with no outreach and no bridges to minority communities, so they end up spouting ideology from a thousand miles away.

When a group of charity workers met with Ryan they said he just kept putting study after study in front of them while they kept pushing the studies aside, telling him what he's saying just doesn't jive on the street level. Enable them to get free of the shackles of government dependency? Who, the majority of homeless people with mental illnesses? They can't even function as human beings let alone get a job and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Bass: he's always been advocate of freeing Blacks from the chains of governmental entitlement dependency and wants to uplift that community to allow them to have equal and better chances in life.

Good example. We have someone who says he would never rent to a black person turning around and saying they need equal chances in life. Just no connection between the ideology side of his brain and the street side of his brain. He wants to believe that this is America and everyone has an equal chance....as long as blacks don't rent from him.

Limit of Nikki Haley's foreign policy credentials:

Vehemently oppose Iran nuclear deal.

Ask Washington not to send Syrian refugees to her state.

Impose first state-wide ban on public entities doing business with companies who engage in boycotts "of a person or an entity based in or doing business with a jurisdiction with whom South Carolina can enjoy open trade." (AKA Israel BDS movement-bashing).

Finally, a bucketful of swamp drained.

Actually the Constitution has changed frequently since it was written. It gets reinterpreted via Amendment.

Yes, extremely frequently. It's quite easy to amend, given the lenient requirements; the last amendment (the 27th) was passed only 24 years ago though it was first proposed in 1789, so it took about 202 years to be enacted. Some issues require consideration, after all. The 26th amendment, which set the voting age at 18, was passed when I was six (I'm 51 now). So, yeah, I guess you could call that "frequent" if you're, like, a redwood tree or a glacier.

not to mention the clear existential threat to the very English language itself!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

All this is really meaningless as Hillary is going to demand a recount in several states that she lost, make sure she gets more votes than Trump, then claim the Electoral College victory!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

He is a neureosurgeon by profession.

Mah - the skull is housing for brain, after all. The key point is that Trump is desperate to get some black person into his cabinet. My guess is that Carson is not so far gone that he will not realize that he is totally unqualified for the position and remove himself from consideration.

But as a Black man, Carson understands the plight and desperity that are plaguing the Urban cities

Yeah. The "U" in HUD stands for "urban," which means blacks, which obviously indicates "plight" (blight? flight?) and "desperity" (disparity? despair?) Whatever. Precision in language is clearly not a hallmark of the coming administration; neither is the obviousness of their dog whistles pretending they're inclusive of minorities. (C'mon - which do the GOP hold in more disdain than the UN or HUD - public education? - Oh, yeah: Trump picks billionaire Betsy DeVos, school voucher advocate who has never attended a public school in her life and frankly abhors it.)

No, he is NOT on the ball, and it IS a bad thing to hire people with no experience in the field.

Ok, so the liberals disapprove? Good it means he's doing something right.

Hope she realizes that by signing on with Trump she's agreed to sexual harrassment.

You sure? How would you know this? Do you know something we all don't? Please share it with us.

Because Trump's were ridiculous lies meant to pander to the white trash morons who would and did lick it up.

What about the Blacks and Mexicans and other minorities that pander to him? Are they also White trash folowers or are they Black trash and Hispanics trash?

Now many of the same people are agreeing with his going 180, as you are.

Considering that he's being methodical about his choices and add to the fact what he as a man has accomplished in life compared to ALL of us JT readers, I would say, the man pretty much knows what he's doing, even if the left and the right do not not. Trump is working with a lot of knowledgeable people and unlike Obama, he's listening and taking in a lot of advice and suggestions on the vetting process. Smith, don't get worked up, it's been about 3 weeks, I had to endure Obama for 8 years! If you're having problems with Trump at this early stage of the campaign, what are you going to do and how will you manage for the next 4 to 8 years?

Remember "Drain the swamp!"? Now suddenly you guys praise him for his choice of certain veteran politicians, calling it common sense where you decried Hillary for it.

Oh, I think you know everyone decried Hillary for it or do we need to go through the Wikileaks stuff again?

Remember his promise to prosecute her? His other promises?

Trump shouldn't, he should let the new AG do it, pull himself away from it, focus on getting the economy going, appoint a new Supreme Court judge and overturn every or most of Obama's executive orders. His newly appointed AG should look into the case and if there is enough grounds to seek a prosecution, then he should do it, but Trump should stay clear alway from it.

The reason Trump is being criticisized is because he was told his promises were ridiculous but he insisted, and now sure enough he is not only backtracking but going 180 (SNL did a great impression of this!), and you guys are buying into it again.

I just found out how impatient liberals are. The man isn't even sworn in and you guys are going apoplectic about this. Imagine if Hillary had won and conservatives would do the same thing and whine the way liberals are doing, I know exactly what they would say and would be snide and condescending about it Obama and Clinton took longer to put their cabinets together. How'd you feel about that?

Making a REALISTIC promise and having to backtrack a little is one thing, but what Trump is doing is something else. You can't defend it without looking like a fool, my friend.

No, I just think now that the Democrats are liberals in the back and lost pretty much everything they have, they don't like and THE ONly thing they do in the end is criticize Trump before than is even inaugurated.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

domtoidi: "Now he's going to have a black guy in his cabinet? He's such a racist."

That doesn't even make sense -- even as sarcasm. Now, if you had said, "Now he's hiring white supremacists in his cabinet? He's such a bigot" you'd be correct, even though you were trying to be sarcastic. As for hiring a token female (whom he can harass) who has no qualifications to do her job, it's just plain stupid.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Now he's going to have a black guy in his cabinet? He's such a racist.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

The Constitution has not changed;

The 15th Amendment gave every American male the right to vote regardless of race.

The 19th Amendment gave American women the right to vote.

The 24th Amendment banned poll taxes and land ownership requirements that some states used to disenfranchise minority and poor voters.

The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age to 18.

Those are some pretty significant changes.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

their is nothing for American's to riot about

except abysmal educational provision

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Politicians can try to do all the things they promised, but some of them just can't happen. Obama said he would close Gitmo but the GOP blocked him. That's different than Obama coming out and saying he changed his mind a week after being elected.

Democrats need to work with Trump on issues that are important to us. He wants to spend money on a stimulus package and I support that. The establishment GOP will come out against it because of rigid ideology. I'm guessing that some of the blue collar workers they just picked up would benefit from the package, so the GOP will have to justify it to them.

What worries me about Trump will be the moments when he is sitting down talking to another leader. At some point he has to put in the work to learn about the issues and make informed decisions. If other leaders look at him and think he's out of his depth or just don't trust him or put confidence in him, then our influence will collapse.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

As-long-as the Constitution is in place and it is respected, their is nothing for American's to riot about.

The Constitution has been in place for over two hundred years, during which there were long periods when certain races or sexes could not vote or were incarcerated. The Constitution has not changed; its interpretation has.

Attention to my comment above shows that I do not believe Trump is any more racist than a typical 70-year old (that is, more than young people today, but not crazy-racist). He has, however, expanded in a very disturbing way the Overton Window - the acceptable parameters of political discourse. What would have been outrageous and disqualifying in the previous election cycle is now the new norm - and my fear is that this momentum will continue. Slavery will not return, women will still be allowed to vote - but policing policies targeting minority groups and elimination of women's reproductive rights are likely.

No; you voted for a guy whose policies (at least on certain days, depending on what TV show he's most recently watched) appeal to sexist racist misogynistic white nationalist supremacist Nazis.

Are you saying Trump is advocating the return of slavery? Jim Crow? Has Trump advocated for repeal of the 13th and 14th amendments? Is he asking to take away Women's right to vote? No, he just wants to enforce the law as passed by Congress and to protect the country from Islamic terrorism.

The Left has gotten hysterical over Hillary's loss. As-long-as the Constitution is in place and it is respected, their is nothing for American's to riot about. There are a lot of problems with Trump becoming president, but the identity politics freak-out by Progressive/Socialists is overwrought and delusional. Trump will have plenty of women and non-white people in positions of authority in his administration. Haley and DeVos are not tokens, they are accomplished women.

Regardless of whether you like Trump personally or not, let's hope and pray that Trump can do and does an outstanding job as president. There's too much at stake.

If he does a poor job, he'll be voted out in 4 years. Time will tell.

Honestly, however, I don't know what to expect from a president who campaigned the way he did and has zero political experience, so I'm praying.

Wolfpack: Trump selected an Indian American and several women to serve in his Administration? So much for all of the Left's talking points about Trump being a racist and misogynist.

Jeeze, at least try.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

However, it's early days and anything can happen. My hope is the appointees - and the administration - will show their concern for the entire population, not just the establishment and those in the majority.

I doubt that will happen, but with certainty, Trump is not going to penalize the job creators or small business owners the way Obama did, so that's a start.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

@Lizz What gives?

As someone who's claimed in previous posts to have an understanding of marketing you're no doubt fully aware of the basic statistical premise that in any large population outliers and anomalies are bound to occur. Appointing a non-majority person to any position does not mean that person (perhaps an outlier?) cares fig one about issues concerning the non-majority.

However, it's early days and anything can happen. My hope is the appointees - and the administration - will show their concern for the entire population, not just the establishment and those in the majority.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump selected an Indian American and several women to serve in his Administration?

Very true. 2 women (1 of them Indian) and 1 black appointment today. I voted for a sexist racist misogynistic white nationalist supremacist nazi. What gives?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

"The billionaire New Yorker has yet to take any formal steps to separate from his international business empire as experts in both parties warn of potential conflicts of interest."

Pffft! What about the Clintons never taking any steps to separate the Clinton Foundation from the State Department? That was a big conflict of interest.

Oh, man, this new government is going to be sooooooo much better than the current one.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

To say the least. Once again, who knows what Trump actually believes and what he'll do next.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, at least he's on the ball and is taking a lot of things into consideration.

I have to think that many of his supporters, especially those who've been following the different appointments made so far, are scratching their heads, maybe beginning to question whether he is truly as anti-establishment as he claimed. (Answer: NOT)

Some may think that, but Obama reneged on a lot of his promises as well. Politicians always have a reason for walking back some promises because maybe the circumstances surrounding these issues are more complex to fulfill than what the public thinks or want.

But I also have to think that a yuuuge number of his supporters are gun bangers whose primary concern is their warm gun happiness. For them, no matter what else he does, no matter who's appointed to any position, as long as the Don can provide assurances they’ll be able to continue to collect and shoot their weapons plus add to their private arsenals, and that he will perhaps even push for legalization of fully automatic weapons, all else will be forgiven and forgotten.

God, I hope so.

On another topic, I see that Clinton now has 2 million more votes than Trump. Oh my, isn’t it interesting that the MAJORITY of Americans favored Clinton.

Yeah, in the watery coastal areas, I believe it, but that's not the majority of Americans. By the way, the CNN polling was Trump was at 53% in the lastest polling on his handling of putting his transitional team together. Stock markets look great was well. Wouldn't see that kind of confidence with either Hillary or Obama.

FOX 'news' had been silent on Clinton having higher popular vote numbers, but now is writing it off as moot, saying the US is a republic, not a democracy. True. And the spins keep on turning.

No, they talked about it, but it makes no sense as to why? The election is over, so even if she has more millennials supporting her, it's finished and we don't use the popular vote system, so why libs want to beat a dead horse still is beyond me.

But Fox 'news' and other MSM outlets might be yesterday's paper (Stones) now that Bannon's even farther right manipulation of info is at hand.

So you prefer to go further left when the country said that they have had enough with liberal progressive policies?

And with the anointed one-elect tweeting easily understood memes to them, the basket dwellers can go back to their gun clubs content that all's right (far right) with the world.

Smh.

“A lot of the things he has said are very off-putting and concerning.”

To say the least. Once again, who knows what Trump actually believes and what he'll do next.

I have to think that many of his supporters, especially those who've been following the different appointments made so far, are scratching their heads, maybe beginning to question whether he is truly as anti-establishment as he claimed. (Answer: NOT)

On another topic, I see that Clinton now has 2 million more votes than Trump. Oh my, isn’t it interesting that the MAJORITY of Americans favored Clinton. FOX 'news' had been silent on Clinton having higher popular vote numbers, but now is writing it off as moot, saying the US is a republic, not a democracy. True. And the spins keep on turning.

But Fox 'news' and other MSM outlets might be yesterday's paper (Stones) now that Bannon's even farther right manipulation of info is at hand. And with the anointed one-elect tweeting easily understood memes to them, the basket dwellers can go back to their gun clubs content that all's right (far right) with the world.

It's pretty clear that Trump has absolutely no understanding of what's involved in foreign affairs. He doesn't trust or believe "the generals". He doesn't believe his intelligence briefings. And now he wants to put an amateur in charge of our UN delegation, while sending his trust-fund son-in-law over to the Middle East to bring about peace.
