Fox better get the memo and get their butts in line. They work for Trump.

His state media tool is showing a bit of independence?

Not to worry, democracy can still be subverted with the help of the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

And if that's not enough, Russia can always lend a welcome hand.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

"Fox isn't working for us anymore!"

Who do Fox think they are, an independent unbiased network devoted to reporting the truth!!!!!

Boy some delusions they have!!

Trump should get advice from Putin and Lil Kim to set up a new network.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

 News, in theory, are supposed to report news and events truthfully and objectively;

Whose theory? Whose 'truth'? Privately owned media outlets in countries where the state doesn't fully control what's reported and how it's reported need to appeal to markets and shape their reporting to them in order to make profits. Getting research published for Science or Nature, where scientific 'truths' are expected is different from getting published in a for-profit press.

@mrnoidall I am old enough to remember when news anchors didn't report their opinions on the matter during the newscast,

It's probably true they weren't as blatant in expressing their bias, but it was always there. Read about Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin complaining about media bias.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Fox is not a news organization. Its a propaganda network pandering to thick skulls and it always has been. Its as likely to try and give you your opinion as let you have one. Its an alternative reality stuck on spin cycle. Its not for thinking people. Its for people who want to be told what to say this week. Its for people who want to join in on the latest mud-slinging with the security of the group for CYA. Its for people who vacillate between over preppy cheerleading and raw hatred for the "other". Its for singing the praises of viewers while trolling everyone else, even as they get trolled by their leaders.

If Fox is parting with Trump, the likely incumbent in the next presidential election, then Trump must have really hit rock bottom. Did he shoot someone in Times Square? Cause that's about what it would take to get a Trump troll to relinquish support. Oh, and not that Obama fans are any better. I could post a list of his war crimes but it would just be ignored. America is a conservative nation after all and even its left is right.

"Fox isn't working for us anymore!"

Which is a damning indictment of his realization that Fox was - and frankly still does - work for Trump and Republicans in general.

If it had a modicum of journalistic integrity, Fox would push back strongly against this.

lolololololololol

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Well, it’s not supposed to be in his favor as much as I love this President, but he’s wrong on this one, now there are a lot of pundits on both sides at FNC that like the President, huge support, but a news outlet should (not talking about the individual anchor) shouldn’t be solely just favorable for one side or another.

Which is a damning indictment of his realization that Fox was - and frankly still does - work for Trump and Republicans in general.

No, it does not, bunch of garbage! The difference here is FNC doesn’t unfavorably just listen to one side, the majority of the news network has always been liberal and before Ailes launches the network, conservatives were pretty much confined to weekends on CNN when they had old Bob Novak to pull out and go against some liberal. There was a gargantuan market of unrepresented conservatives that didn’t have a voice that The Liberals just didn’t want to cover and FNC solved that problem.

If it had a modicum of journalistic integrity, Fox would push back strongly against this

Yeah, Tell that to the struggling one-sided liberal news networks.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

I don't often watch the TV network, but they have some newsmen who aren't afraid to ask difficult questions like Wallace and Smith. Wallace especially helps to show how empty some GOP/Trump statements are in his interviews. It's funny to watch him just ask the same question over and over again while the right wingers dodge and stutter. His interview with Stephen Miller was especially good.

Then you have the entertainment side with people like Hannity and Carlson who are there to stoke outrage and sell things. They get most of the attention but they aren't everything at Fox. Fox & Friends is mostly conservative cool whip.

I go to the website multiple times a day and it's primary purpose is to feed the culture war and draw lines between Americans.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

bass: There was a gargantuan market of unrepresented conservatives

Fox's power is in the fact that so many conservatives get their news there, or from a handful of small conservative outlets. Want a conspiracy theory? Put it on Hannity. A massive amount of conservatives will be repeating it tomorrow. It's incredibly easy for them to put everyone on the same page in a hurry, especially if they work directly with Republican politicians to plan ways to present things.

On the left everything is split up. To present the same messaging you'd have to have a dozen independent outlets working in unison, which just isn't possible. We'd need 6 Sean Hannitys on 6 networks to compete with the concentration he has on one. There's no monolith to tell everyone what to think or say.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Yeah, Tell that to the struggling one-sided liberal news networks.

Completely irrelevant to Fox "News'" journalistic integrity. Getting an early start with the bad faith arguments, I see.

No, it does not, bunch of garbage! The difference here is FNC doesn’t unfavorably just listen to one side,

Denying reality. More bad faith.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Fox is in a difficult place, advertisers are pushing back against the openly racist programs. Baby Tucker Has lost 60% of his sponsors , Pirro and hannity are under pressure.

Shows that racism might get you racist viewers but doesn’t bring in the bucks.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

I don't often watch the TV network, but they have some newsmen who aren't afraid to ask difficult questions like Wallace and Smith. Wallace especially helps to show how empty some GOP/Trump statements are in his interviews.

Here’s where the crap starts stinking. Smith can’t stand the president as well as Wallace, so they would never give the president a fair shake. Two overly partisan Democrats. They have the right to be that, I don’t have a problem with that, but they do need to be more objective. Why Shep doesn’t work for CNN is beyond me, Bret on the other hand is extremely fair, doesn’t wave to either side, this is why Bret is one of the most fairest reporters on FNC.

It's funny to watch him just ask the same question over and over again while the right wingers dodge and stutter. His interview with Stephen Miller was especially good.

Again, not true. Mueller as with everyone else can see how smug and deceptive Wallace can be in his disdain for the administration and that’s where he shows his hand and that is what doesn’t do him justice. You should ask her questions, that’s your job and that’s what I’ve always done, but you don’t need to be a jerk and a Partisan in doing that.

Then you have the entertainment side with people like Hannity and Carlson who are there to stoke outrage and sell things.

Again that is entirely wrong both Hannity and Tucker tell it like it is until it in the way that the Democrats can’t stand. This is the reason why there’s so much of a threat to the liberal establishment because they don’t want to hear anybody putting out any of their flaws and this is the reason why the numbers keep growing bigger and bigger over any other pundent on TV.

They get most of the attention but they aren't everything at Fox. Fox & Friends is mostly conservative cool whip.

Sorry, but that’s not what the ratings say, ratings that both of the liberal networks will kill each other over to get, but will never get to that level because for one thing they won’t even have conservatives on the panel.

I go to the website multiple times a day and it's primary purpose is to feed the culture war and draw lines between Americans.

CNN and MS NBC have done that years ago and it all started with Keith Olbermann as he’s more known for pretty much back in 2004 started the division in the country.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Fox's power is in the fact that so many conservatives get their news there, or from a handful of small conservative outlets.

And liberals have a bigger pool of progressive and left leaning in for left-leaning and socialists outlets.

Want a conspiracy theory? Put it on Hannity. A massive amount of conservatives will be repeating it tomorrow. It's incredibly easy for them to put everyone on the same page in a hurry, especially if they work directly with Republican politicians to plan ways to present things.

And you have the same thing on the other side, you have Don lemon, you have Anderson Cooper, you have Lawrence O’Donnell who just had to do a retraction, which is so common for that network as well as CNN, you have Rachel Maddow, so you can make a counter argument as well for the opposite side.

On the left everything is split up. To present the same messaging you'd have to have a dozen independent outlets working in unison, which just isn't possible.

Again, what a bunch of crap! On any of these liberal networks you don’t have a split 50-50 of conservatives and liberals on the panel, you always have liberals and if you are invited as a conservative, you have to tow the line or you’re not gonna be on there as a paid contributor, that’s a monetary fact.

We'd need 6 Sean Hannitys on 6 networks to compete with the concentration he has on one. There's no monolith to tell everyone what to think or say.

Uh-huh....

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Is Fox News still on cable?

How can a "news" organization not confont POTUS 20 times a day on his lies?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

bass: Wallace, so they would never give the president a fair shake

Wallace rocks. He will take some bogus statistic and just keep repeating that it's bogus again and again while the right-winger just keeps dodging.

"But the information we have clearly shows the opposite is true, isn't that right?"

"Chris, I think the American people really want to move past -"

"But my question was about your statistic. You said A is greater than B but that's not accurate."

"I think the biggest thing is how liberals are destroying..."

"Sir, my question."

He's a master at exposing the right-wingers as a bunch of people trying to sell BS.

bass: And you have the same thing on the other side

Well, no, you failed to understand that my point is that they are opposite. There's Fox News and that's pretty much it. Easy to control a message when there's only one messenger. The middle and left have a dozen separate entities which slices of audience. The left can't tell 90% of liberals what to say tomorrow from a single outlet.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

How can a "news" organization not confont POTUS 20 times a day on his lies?

They do call him out on some of the things that he says if they’re not true, but they also call out the liberal news networks that basically distorted a lot of the things that he says or refuse to take an opposing point of view on the issue. The difference is they don’t spend time 24/7 obsessing with that, they also make time for other news as well, because if people just want to be angry at Trump then they can just go to CNN or MSNBC and hear Trump rant all day and seeth.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

They do call him out on some of the things that he says if they’re not true

They being Wallace and Smith, obviously.

but they also call out the liberal news networks that basically distorted a lot of the things that he says

Yeah, you know, distorting what Donny says by quoting him directly.

he difference is they don’t spend time 24/7 obsessing with that, they also make time for other news as well, because if people just want to be angry at Trump then they can just go to CNN or MSNBC and hear Trump rant all day and seeth.

Denying reality. More bad faith.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

@bas4f hear Trump rant all day and seeth.

Thank you for admitting Trump's over-emotional and unstable.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Wallace rocks.

And that’s your opinion, you’re entitled to that they disagree, I think his father it was much better and more fair and he was also a liberal, just as I thought Peter Jennings was very fair, he was one of my idols and he was very fair and so was the late Tim Russert, but I don’t see the same quality and Chris Wallace, sorry. I don’t care with you you are a liberal or conservative, I care whether you’re fair or not.

He will take some bogus statistic and just keep repeating that it's bogus again and again while the right-winger just keeps dodging.

Yes and then when liberals are on then he’s a little bit more, well, let’s say not as pushy.

"But the information we have clearly shows the opposite is true, isn't that right?"

He's a master at exposing the right-wingers as a bunch of people trying to sell BS.

I see more of him as a master of piling on conservatives he particularly doesn’t like while giving liberal opponents more of a pass, but it’s OK she’s on Sundays so....

Well, no, you failed to understand that my point is that they are opposite. There's Fox News and that's pretty much it. Easy to control a message when there's only one messenger.

No, that’s not true at all. Fox News has a cable television news outlet is by far the largest, now you do have other conservative news outlets, but they’re not as big and they’re not as numerous as some of the progressive socialist networks and news sites that are out their.

The middle and left have a dozen separate entities which slices of audience. The left can't tell 90% of liberals what to say tomorrow from a single outlet.

The Liberals do not have a site that is conveniently fair to conservatives or that are non-partisan. Not on cable at least

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Thank you for admitting Trump's over-emotional and unstable.

I never said that, I called CNN and MSNBC unstable, especially CNN is extremely unstable put that down as a quote.

dont worry a few more of your cheerleaders will be here soon to help you out....

What? Oh, like you have enough liberal cheerleaders to help you out? Come on...lol

by the way I thought you dont watch Fox?

I never said that, I do, but I never said, it’s the only source that I rely on for information, I watch the other comical stuff on CNN and I also get my sources from other outlets.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Again that is entirely wrong both Hannity and Tucker tell it like it is until it in the way that the Democrats can’t stand.

I can understand why people can't stand conspiracy theorists like Hannity or white nationalists like Carlson. Actually hating trash like that should be the default.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The Mueller report showed that Fox "News" altered their reporting as per the president's demands. Suddenly he's whining about them not reporting what he thinks they should. What happened between then and now? Did Fox "News" suddenly decide to be ethical? Or did they just turn on him and decide that it's time to sell out to someone else instead?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I can understand why people can't stand conspiracy theorists like Hannity or white nationalists like Carlson.

Pretty strong claim with zero backup.

The Mueller report showed that Fox "News" altered their reporting as per the president's demands.

Considering the source the Mueller report was bias at its deepest core, come on..

And the entire thing and look at all of their faces.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Trump wants a North Korean style news boardcasting channel, with the news anchor lady praising him: Our dear and beloved The Great President,mansei,Manei..."Comarade Trump' Mansei!  In a greatly emotional tone and weeps!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yes and then when liberals are on then he’s a little bit more, well, let’s say not as pushy.

He doesn't have to be because they don't spew as much garbage as Trumpophiles. We see this on a daily basis in these threads.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

He doesn't have to be because they don't spew as much garbage as Trumpophiles.

I totally disagree, the anger and antipathy that they have towards this president is so deep rooted and visceral, that they cannot see past the hatred and anger to not spew vile garbage without taking a breath and trying to do it in a reasonable, rational and logical way to prove a political point.

We see this on a daily basis in these threads.

Yes, we do.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

As US president, Trump has no equivalent of the state TV channel used to serve leaders in many less free countries, like Russia. But for much of his first term he's at least been able to rely regularly on Fox for friendly coverage.

thank you, Japan Today, for stating the obvious.

many people don,t wanna realize that, but "the leader of the free world" is not exactly a big friend of freedom. never thought we would see something like this in our lifetimes....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Fox better get the memo and get their butts in line. They work for Trump.

Har! I gave you a thumbs-up for that one, Super.

Heck, Trump's had his critics on Fox like forever. At least they also report on the good things that have happened during his presidency unlike CNN and MSNBC.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Pretty strong claim with zero backup.

The claim is strong because it's easy to back up. Hannity fervently promoted the conspiracy theory that Seth Rich was murdered by Hillary Clinton. Carlson says white nationalism is "a hoax" even while the FBI lists it as one of the biggest threats to the US - not to mention he's a darling of Neo-Nazis all over the internet. But then, so are most Republicans.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I never said that, I do, but I never said, it’s the only source that I rely on for information, I watch the other comical stuff on CNN

You said nobody watches CNN.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

He probably meant to say he gets his news from Cartoon Network.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The claim is strong because it's easy to back up. Hannity fervently promoted the conspiracy theory that Seth Rich was murdered by Hillary Clinton.

Ok, so out of one conspiracy theory that he backed off on, compared to all the other conspiracy theories that CNN throws out every single day as well as MSNBC and then today they got caught in Lawrence O’Donnell had to retract because of an emotional outbursts and dislike for the president he asked to go mouth off over something he knew nothing about.

Carlson says white nationalism is "a hoax" even while the FBI lists it as one of the biggest threats to the US

Well Tucker was right, and when you look at the statistics overall you lump the entire country inn and the total amount of white nationalism or attacks or threats they feel far in comparison to the radical antifa threats and physical violence they so gladly give out.

- not to mention he's a darling of Neo-Nazis all over the internet. But then, so are most Republicans.

Yeah, the talking heads on CNN want you to believe that, all those former Obama voters racists. Lol

He probably meant to say he gets his news from Cartoon Network.

That’s what CNN is cartoon network news.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Odd how some can have a meltdown over "liberals" having mentioned the word over a zillion times.

The network in question, is Fox. Who are known, in the main, for having rather illiberal views. Norman is correct when he says that the US is a conservative nation.

If some people actually think that Fox is becoming liberal, it just highlights the gulf between the US and Europe where most of us can tell the difference on points along the political spectrum.

I do like BBC, which manages to stay, for the most part, impartial. Although it's fascinating to see it slated by some on the right who call it "communist" and some on the left who see it as pro-Tory and pro-government. Channel 4 and Al-Jazeera (although wildly different) are quite informative, too.

Out of all the American news services, I guess I enjoy CNN for its gusto and passion but PBS is more measured and searching.

Just my opinion, natch.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@bas4f ompared to all the other conspiracy theories that CNN throws out every single day

I don't watch CNN, so would be interested in learning which conspiracy theories they throw out every day.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Ok, so out of one conspiracy theory that he backed off on,

Hannity kept up the Seth Rich conspiracy theory long after the news part of Fox "News" retracted it. Hannity kept it alive just a bit longer on his website.

Hannity held onto the Seth Rich conspiracy like Donny held onto birtherism.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Well Tucker was right, and when you look at the statistics overall you lump the entire country inn and the total amount of white nationalism or attacks or threats they feel far in comparison to the radical antifa threats and physical violence they so gladly give out.

That's not the assessment of the FBI.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

when you look at the statistics overall you lump the entire country inn and the total amount of white nationalism or attacks or threats they feel far in comparison to the radical antifa threats and physical violence they so gladly give out

This is yet another classic example of fake news. Unfortunately, this kind of garbage can be posted every day, presented as fact.

Here's a fact: anti-fascism has been around since as long as fascism has been. It is not a monolithic group. It can apply to street activists, weekend protesters, picketers, marchers, politicians, students & soldiers etc.

Trumpists seem to think it just mushroomed over night, conveniently forgetting that little thing called WW2, which had biggest organised form of anti-fascist action ever seen.

Here's an opinion: Trump supporters cannot handle their President, his administration and core supporters in the media being called out for the fascist direction they have taken. Which is why they will deflect, deflect, deflect. Fox has helped them do so. So far. But perhaps there comes a time when enough is enough?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

It is not a monolithic group.

Like ANTIFA, some trump supporters have other monolithic groups they frequently mention as evil, like the 'deep state' and 'globalists'. Perhaps they took literally the Batman and Superman comics they read where there were evil groups - imagined by the cartoonists - to be feared. Or maybe they took sci fi movies with good guys v. bad groups seriously. The term that worries me the most is 'globalist' because I sense many who use that term are using it the same way Nazis used it in the 1930s.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I don't watch CNN, so would be interested in learning which conspiracy theories they throw out every day

I would too. I get the feeling that was a partisan comment with no basis in reality just thrown out there.

I think the last time I watched anything from Fox was when they interviewed a ‘terrorism expert’ who claimed the second largest city in the UK, Birmingham, was 100% Muslim and no police entered that city. The hosts seemed delighted to hear this. This crazed lunatic was later criticised by the then UK PM and his febrile claims demolished as he was hauled onto BBC to explain his insanity.

I think I last watched CNN in a hotel room on a business trip. Some athletic-looking fella with capped teeth moaning about Trump.

Pretty boring.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

What's happened at Faux News? I thought it was state run. It's still kind of state run, isn't it?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Odd how some can have a meltdown over "liberals" having mentioned the word over a zillion times.

Not a meltdown, liberals are just funny, but not in a George Carlin way....more like an Alec Baldwin kind of way....

The network in question, is Fox. Who are known, in the main, for having rather illiberal views. Norman is correct when he says that the US is a conservative nation.

Not liberal, they lean more center Right.

If some people actually think that Fox is becoming liberal, it just highlights the gulf between the US and Europe where most of us can tell the difference on points along the political spectrum.

What? No, if it were to become a liberal network it’s only because of the Murdoch sons.

I do like BBC, which manages to stay, for the most part, impartial.

ROFL! Yeah.......

Al-Jazeera (although wildly different) are quite informative, too.

Oh, dear lord......

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

I do like BBC, which manages to stay, for the most part, impartial.

ROFL! Yeah.......

You have displayed an astounding lack of knowledge of the UK media.

You described the Guardian as neutral on Trump. Some on the left ( myself included ) have become exasperated with this paper which seems more interested in preening and virtue signaling than highlighting the plight of the less well-off. Its hitjob on Corbyn was a perfect example. It slaughters Trump non-stop.

You argued that the Telegraph is not conservative. Many conservatives became exasperated with this once reasonable paper as it fell into tabloid-level rightist rabble-rousing.

The BBC is attacked as rightist by the left and leftist by the right. Not a bad place to be.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

You have displayed an astounding lack of knowledge of the UK media.

Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't the energy to engage with it anymore! The Graun is very middle class, almost Blairite in its ethos. Corbyn has been slated, pretty much since he became the Labour leader. There are are honourable examples, Paul Mason, George Monbiot, Keenan Malik occasionally churn out a decent article. Fintan O' Toole guests and delivers on his Brexit pieces.

Proper left don't like it, mind. And I can understand why. Polly Toynbee, for starters...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Another day and yet again another idiotic comment from dummy and chief.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Not a meltdown, liberals are just funny, but not in a George Carlin way....more like an Alec Baldwin kind of way....

??? Carlin was vehemently left-wing.
