Now, I hate profiling public personalities. The whole effort, as a rule, is just self-serving nonsense.

But after so much of Cheetos-Face's self-inflicted harm, I just gotta come out and say:

He can't help himself. It has worked for him for his whole life -- the bluster, the con, the attack, attack, attack, so why stop now?

And so, it becomes clear: Donald J. Trump is constitutionally incapable of being an effective politician. In a political system such as we have in the U.S.. Where we have, y'know, the rule of law, a Bill of RIghts, separation of powers, and federalism,

Trump has magically found a way to restore American infrastructure - he proposes issuing bonds to cover between a half and full trillion of spending for this! It totally makes sense; as interest rates are at historic lows now, America could both overhaul itself and provide employment! What an innovative concept! Rank-and-file GOP members seem to like the idea, as do I: for once, Trump has produced a feasible and economically viable proposal.

If only Obama had thought of this. (Oh, wait - he did: the stimulus.)

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Thursday dismissed reports that he was planning an “intervention” with top Trump allies, including GOP Chairman Reince Priebus and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, to urge Trump to abandon tactics that have triggered sinking poll numbers and low morale.

An intervention can only work to restore people to a previous state that they currently have fallen away from due to -- usually -- an unhealthy addiction of some type. There is no restoring Trump. He's just being the Donald.

Has Trump ever made anything "great again?" He's certainly not making the Republicans great again. He's destroying the "Grand Old Party." He hasn't made himself particularly honorable. He's far from "great." On the contrary, he seems to be self-destructive.

The Republicans need an intervention -- to restore themselves -- and the "cure" is breaking their pathological attraction to Trump.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

If only Obama had thought of this.

Objection. Governing while black.

pathological attraction to Trump.

He he. to be fair: crazy people are insane because they don't know they are insane. That is what makes them insane.

I disagree with the exception, Trump should stay on message and keep hammering away at the establishment. Both sides enjoy the perks of the current status quo and most of the voters don't understand the dynamic and the consequences of what will happen if the current status stays the way it is now. In the end, it's the voter that gets screwed, I could care less about what Washington thinks!

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Trump needs to tone it down. Hillary and Obama are the targets to provide the facts on the incompetence. Hillary has vollumes and it should be easy. Obama, less but he endorsed the Billary after her campaign cheated and after she lied to us, the US public.

Trump played hardball all his life in the construction real estate business. He's no lawyer appeasing everyone he rolls up his sleeves and fights and negotiates. Most other politicians mast play the game.

Clint Eastwood is right!

-8 ( +2 / -10 )

most of the voters don't understand the dynamic and the consequences of what will happen if the current status stays the way it is now.

When I hear that statement I immediately think of the current structure of our economic model, not politics. We are arguing about tax rates when companies can ship a $20 an hour job overseas and pay $5 an hour instead. Going up or down a few points on the taxes doesn't have the same impact it used to. Things are different today and maybe our tax structure should change with it.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

All Trump needs to do is talk about money in politics, because that's the root cause of corruption in the establishment. Wrong as they may be, less informed voters view him as of being completely self-financed and unbeholden to special interests. It worked against his rivals in the primaries, and it would probably work against Clinton. But no, he attacks the families of soldiers and the idea of America paying it's debts to foreign countries. He's either incredibly dumb, or more beholden to donors than we know.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Better idea yet is reduce corporate taxes, reduce regulations and encourage those $20 an hour jobs back into USA. The option of raising a bugler flippers hourly sallary to close to $20 an hour isn't going to work. The burger flipper is no skill and the factory assembler is low skill but not exactly hire the next applicant.

Trump wants to close the wealthy loopholes, good. Hillary promises to raise taxes on all. On this I do trust Hillary to her word.

Kansas tried just that, and now their economy is ruined. We could try learning from their example...

The burger flipper is no skill and the factory assembler is low skill but not exactly hire the next applicant.

And yet those businesses depend on those workers to operate. That being the case, they should be paid enough to make a decent living. Nothing extravagant, but enough to live comfortably. Isn't that the whole point of a job? To make money to live?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Today we now find out that not only is his wife a thieving Eastern Blocker, but also an illegal immigrant when she was first in NY! So Trump is basically a traitor to the US and despises the US military, and also courts illegal thief immigrants. Unbelievable

All Trump needs to do is talk about money in politics, because that's the root cause of corruption in the establishment. Wrong as they may be, less informed voters view him as of being completely self-financed and unbeholden to special interests.

The voters are stupid as Obama and the Washington elites want to make them out to be. They know Trump is a businessman and NOT a career politician, that's the big difference, they know he does business, has to do it with powerful people because he is in real estate, but Hillary's salary is paid for by the tax payer and if I'm pay for the woman, I expect accountability and transparency which she hasn't been. Again, this is why the people don't trust her when it comes to business or creating jobs and the economy, especially given her dubious past.

It worked against his rivals in the primaries, and it would probably work against Clinton. But no, he attacks the families of soldiers and the idea of America paying it's debts to foreign countries. He's either incredibly dumb, or more beholden to donors than we know.

Ahh, like when Hillary made that (cough!) gaffe that she would raise taxes on the middle class? Uh-oh! The truth finally came out. Hillary is NOT Bill, at least he was a better liar and more convincing.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

I disagree mr. Bum. Entry level jobs are low to no skill or responsibilities. Small business can't afford to pay "liveable" wages. Major corporations which do need skill and responsibility pay better wage and benefits. Stocking shelves at a Walmart isn't exactly high employment aspirations. Work hard to become manager is living a plan. Too many low to no skilled workers bounce around making minimum wage by choice. Should a CEO make $10M, $20M or more? I don't think so. It is those businesses that depend on skills across the board and they pay higher wages.

To put it to the libs here, do all the leaders you follow in Hollywood, are they worth millions per movie? Some get that and preach equality to the sheep. Ask them to lead by example not by the profession of impersonation.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

The scary socio phenomenon now is that these crazy ones are trying to take over the government.

Can't be as bad as the people that were loons over the last 7 1/2 years. And after seeing how violent the Anti-government, Trump capitalist socialists have been attacking people, now that is scary!

-15 ( +1 / -16 )

Do you guy want to see something freaky? Check out this article from a Trump supporter:

Work hard to become manager is living a plan. Too many low to no skilled workers bounce around making minimum wage by choice.

Not everyone can become managers and we don't need them to. Entry level jobs may be the only jobs for some people in certain areas. Until their positions are replaced by robots, society requires those low-skill workers. Their jobs may be very different, but don't they work just as long and just as hard? Paying your workers should be a built-in cost like paying rent or utilities. If a small business can't afford it, they're not running a successful business.

Keep in mind that people who advocate higher wages also advocate better social benefits that would also alleviate the burden on those small business owners. It's not about giving freebies, it's about making the situation livable for everyone willing to work. Otherwise, we have a society that necessitates a permanent working class in poverty.

This probably sounds very "socialist" to you and it kind of is, but I'm all for capitalism too. There's nothing wrong with trying to make it work for everyone.

Should a CEO make $10M, $20M or more? I don't think so.

No, but even I admit, some of them earn it. They can afford to be heavily taxed and still enjoy the rewards of their hard work. The same goes for Hollywood types. The ones that preach are in favor of higher taxes for the rich.

" The voters are stupid as Obama and the Washington elites want to make them out to be. "

I certainly hope they are NOT as stupid as that.

This really is a battle between the globalist elite and their gullible followers, and the great unwashed masses who have finally woken up. Alas, there is still a great number of people who simply swallow the globalist propaganda.

@PTownsend

No, it's correct. I was referring to the radical groups that are so conflicted and confused, they don't even know who they are opposing, but they do like to rant and they love to fight.

I certainly hope they are NOT as stupid as that.

Sadly, they are.

This really is a battle between the globalist elite and their gullible followers, and the great unwashed masses who have finally woken up. Alas, there is still a great number of people who simply swallow the globalist propaganda.

Look, Trump was way off to criticize Khan's wife, but I am just astounded that liberals and Khan himself would align themselves with a woman who voted on a war which was responsible for taking his life. These people were used and the Hillary supporters are used and because of being so gullible, they listen to this guy in the White House and swoon over his lecture style diatribe and we are now supposed to feel good and once again, allow everyone to come in and then when the lies come out ( they always do, like with the Iran ransom money and the DNC effort to suppress Bernie ) the people will complain, moan and want action taken and yell at the status quo that something must be done, the liberals are THAT good when it comes to lies and deceptions.

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

Speaking in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday, Trump, in praising retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who introduced him, quipped: “I met him at a ballroom because somebody was being honored. You know who it was? It was me.”

It must be hard to follow around Emperor Trump with a poo scoo. Can hardly wait to send him back to Trump Tower, and send Hillary to the White House in November.

One of the funnier stories out of Trumpland this week: Trump claimed the other day to have seen a "secret" video which he claimed was leaked by Iran to embarrass the US showing what he claimed was $400 million in various currencies being unloaded in Tehran as what he claimed was a ransom payment for hostages. This immediately led to concerns that Trump was leaking contents of security briefings he's now privy too until someone pointed out that they would clearly not include such a video.

Others later pointed out that plane was not, in fact, in Iran, and the video did not, in fact, show the money unloaded. His own campaign clarified that two days ago. And yet, at a rally yesterday, he repeated the same thing! Perhaps he and his campaign aren't talking. Perhaps he doesn't care what they say. Perhaps his mind is addled and he forgets what they said.

But it gets better. Now, his senior policy advisor is insisting that "nothing less than a full investigation is required," an enthusiasm echoed by House Speaker Paul Ryan (they like investigations in the House).

Seriously: you can't make these things up. Read this for a good chuckle: http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-obama-iran-payment-20160804-snap-story.html

6 ( +8 / -2 )

they know he does business, has to do it with powerful people

That isn't the whole story. These people are also greedy. The power they have is the power to make decisions to enrich themselves at the cost of investors. If a deal goes bad, the powerful people have been paid, and the investors get nothing in a bankruptcy.

Have a look at the most recent polls. Looking bad for Trumph. No wonder he is saying the election is rigged. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/08/04/two-new-polls-put-donald-trump-further-back-than-mitt-romney-ever-was/

90 odd days until the Republican party is wiped from the map. Barry Goldwater was a lightweight compared to what Trump will achieve.

The insane Base he's fired up aren't going to take it well. Neither will Trump's money lenders in Moscow.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Right, Madverts - I guess his ceiling is about 40%, with 50 or a bit above for Clinton and the rest to other candidates. The electoral college map will make Trump look like Mondale. The big question is the down-ticket candidates.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

"Hillary Clinton’s record on foreign policy."

It truly sucks. Check it out.

"President Barack Obama dismissed as “ridiculous” Trump’s recent warning that the election might be “rigged” if he loses in November.

“My suggestion would be: go out there and try to win the election,” Obama said"

Har! Good one, Mr. President! As we all know, with the WikiLeaks DNC emails as irrefutable proof, the Democratic primary was rigged against Bernie, why should the general election not be rigged?

"Trump’s sustained criticism of an American Muslim family"

This is ridiculous, what's Trump supposed to do when he's attacked, not respond? He said Captain Humayun Khan was a hero, and merely said the father had no right to ask him if he'd read the Constitution, which, OK, the guy has the legal right to ask, lol.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

That's right. And John McCain should know. He chose Sarah Palin because he wanted the wing nut vote.

At least she ran a state, at the time very popular, didn't complete her term, but was popular nonetheless, worked as a journalist, best thing about her, besides looking great, she is not thin-skinned as the guy in the White House. The president can't even run a country properly. Hillary ran a foundation and what else?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

I could care less about what Washington thinks! yeah, unfortunately, that ideology won't work if Trump becomes president, he'll have to compromise and negotiate if he wants to get anything passed in the senate, compromise and negotiation isnt one of Trump's strong points.

Rather than even bother to read the trashy lies of the Breitbarts and Foxes - or any of their fans - actually look up a real source (say, the Times or the Guardian) and understand that all this was set up literally decades ago.

There is likely NOTHING that Trump-backers (especially, but also ANYONE willing to consider voting Republican) will not lie about. It's all they have - and for most of them, it seems also to be the only thing that makes them feel powerful or happy.

Look at their ridiculous comments above.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The fact remains that no one has denied the US ransomed prisoners.

In fact, everyone with any knowledge of the matter has categorically denied it. It is a claim bereft of truth. And to say that the claim is " inconsequential" is irresponsible: Trump was not just wrong about this, he was wrong repeatedly, even after his campaign had itself pointed out his error. This is not a characteristic desirable in a president.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The Trump-Khan controversy is going to pale in comparison to the mind-boggling huuuuuuge mistake by the Obama administration in giving Iran a $400 million ransom payment.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Run with it, Lizz and Serrano! Those who complain about the "MSM" are must likely to bolt after any squirrel. Trust me: Returning $400 million of Iranian money that the US had impounded since I was 14 (I'm 51 now) as a well-publicized aspect of an incredibly complex agreement that thus far has held up quite well is not a "ransom". It's the opposite, actually - the agreement stated that the money would be returned regardless of the prisoners' status, so timing it to coincide with that was simply a bonus for the US.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Rather than even bother to read the trashy lies of the Breitbarts and Foxes - or any of their fans - actually look up a real source (say, the Times or the Guardian) and understand that all this was set up literally decades ago.

Let's clear this up, even Iran called it a ransom and given the years Obama has lied like Fast and furious, Bergdahl ransom exchange, using the IRS to take conservatives donors out of the 2012 cycle, claiming there's not a smidgen of corruption in his admin. Wikileaks showing how the DNP purposely sabotaged Sanders campaign to take him out of the race. Hillary lying on Chris Wallace's show last week about her emails, and on and on an now this ransom. Time and time again, they have been caught in so many lies, it's gotten to a point, Josh Earnest is having a difficult time keeping up with all of them. Liberals and Democrats can believe whatever they want, the general public have a very different opinion.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Bah since when have right wing nuts ever been concerned with facts Laguna?

They have their talking points from their insanely biased media outlets and will regurgitate at will. Desperate is the operative word here as Trump's ridiculous campaign continues its' flameout. These threads have become a support group for dejected Republicans and Trump hasn't even lost yet...

So in other words Trump was talking a load of nonsense.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

As we all know, with the WikiLeaks DNC emails as irrefutable proof, the Democratic primary was rigged against Bernie, why should the general election not be rigged?

While Serrano avoids Simon Foston's questions above, he can scurry away from this one too: All primary elections are controlled by a state's election commission. With that being the case, how could the DNC "rig" a primary? Without a shred of justification, Trump is trying to undermine the faith of the American people in our basic democratic processes. That's seriously un-American.

This is ridiculous, what's Trump supposed to do when he's attacked, not respond?

Instead of demonstrating character and maturity, Trump foolishly misread Khan's rhetorical question as an attack. It was a trap of Trump's own making. Now, even holding up a copy of the US Constitution is enough to get someone thrown out of a Trump rally -- as happened in Portland, Maine, recently.

The GOP has made a blunder of historically epic proportions.

At the same time, Clinton criticized Trump for outsourcing at his companies the very jobs he’s promising to create back home.

Thanks for that Nadaku.

Even though Trump's campaign is walking back Turmp's lies about the so-called "ransom" Trump went on to use it anyway at a rally.

Is it dementia? Is he insane?

One thing you can put money on is that our "independent" Republicans will act as if they never parroted the latest of Trump's lies and move on to the next steaming load of goo from the GOP Slime Machine as soon as Fox "news" feeds them their talking points.

Lizz? My old buddy serrano? Are we sticking with Insane Leader's story or the alternative one being sent out by his own campaign? Don't worry, I'm expecting nothing but silence. Heh.

The Trump campaign is in meltdown.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Why is Hillary suddenly planning on holding a press conference and admitting, attempting to clarify, rambling at length etc that she "mischaracterized" the FBI findings if the Trump campaign is the one in total disarray ? Although the Donald does need an improved rapid response team. He is sitting on $150 Million. I don't know why he's not running ads.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The story is about Trump, Lizz.

Your boy. Leader of the Republican party.

So which story are you going with?

Trump's campaign that are walking back the b/s claims or Trump himself who is still making them?

Talking about Hillary just isn't cutting it. Something has to give you know, implosion is nigh....meltdown in the Asylum is upon us.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

There is a new poll for each candidate. About dislike and like. Both had higher number in dislike and lower number in like.

Clinton had press conference. I think Trump needs better campaign supporters. A couple days ago, one person said He found Obama' Harvard ENTRYRECORD. conversation. Where?.. Entry Depth. He applied as foreigner to receive privilege. He had his mother's name on top of his name as American. Fox people had fun. There are people who try to sell. stories to Trump and stuffs just pile up to show Trump. Hillary was in Vegas but her stuffs were not buying stories.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Trump counts on free media instead of paying for commercials. The problem is the MSM is liberal and they will trash Trump for even a sneeze while Hillary walks on water.

Seek the truth- alternative media. CNN is not it.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

So, the only "trustworthy" sources of info happen to be those no even vaguely unbiased observer has the least amount of respect for?

And Trump, ultra-zillionaire, has to "rely" on a completely biased "liberal" media for free media that is somehow still biased AGAINST him - and that has spent two decades-plus vilifying the Clintons daily?

Because EVERYONE not with the extreme Republicans is in a conspiracy against them?

What about Putin? Is he a Trump ally, or secret opponent?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

But Hillary is only up by less than 3 percentage points, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion survey released on Friday, down from nearly eight points on Monday. Which means Trump is probably leading by at least 8. Even James Carville admitted today the polls are completely bogus as they are oversampling Democrats (and women) by +14 on average. The media loves a horse race. They purposely injected drama in their all out attack on Trump earlier in the week, now it is time to redraw the lines again.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Lizz I believe you predicted Clinton would drop in the polls after the convention. Again, let's start seeing some accurate predictions before we start taking you seriously. What media outlets do you follow? You might want to try some new ones.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I believe you predicted Clinton would drop in the polls after the convention.

If Trump hadn't so royally screwed up she probably would have, but I do follow the USC/LA Times Daybreak Poll which has the race essentially tied (even with 2012 weighted averages).

Sorry, Yabits, not going to work. Assange himself purposely leaked the information, so are you saying, he's in bed with the Trump campaign? Look, Hillarybots and supporters can believe what they want and what they are told, but the people don't, that's why No one trusts her, so please, save it or show me how she can get her over 70% untrustworthiness down. Good luck with that.

Hrm. Was there some part of "quote the actual passages" that you didn't understand? All they do in that interview is talk about the emails, there's nothing at all specific about the content.

As I said, if liberals don't agree with the facts, then for them it's not facts because liberals say so. Nice, try again.

You Hillary lovers can scream and have a anger fit all you want, Hillary got caught, the Dems are doing damage control, Obama himself said back in 2008 that she was an untrustworthy person and now after that lie on Chris Wallace's show and how she said, she was going to raise taxes on the middle class, just keeps bringing her numbers down. Wonder when the next Wikileaks revelation will come out and what spin the left will desperately try to cover for her. LOL

The scary socio phenomenon now is that these crazy ones are trying to take over the government.

Can't be as bad as the people that were loons over the last 7 1/2 years. And after seeing how violent the Anti-government, Trump capitalist socialists have been attacking people, now that is scary!

bass, you have tried, but failed as more than a 56% Americans thinks President is doing a great job that is one of the highest among past Presidents while GOP is falling apart.

What facts? You didn't provide any.

Trump counts on free media instead of paying for commercials. The problem is the MSM is liberal and they will trash Trump for even a sneeze while Hillary walks on water.

If what you say is true, that the free media is liberal and they trash Trump for even a sneeze, why did he count on them? Is he stupid? Or is he just cheap?
