Trump considering Mnuchin and Ross for economy jobs

Nobody mentions that the first thing Wilbur Ross did when he bought steelmaker LTV out of bankruptcy was renege on the pensions and health care of 70,000 workers and former employees of LTV. To all those "rust belt" workers who were conned into believing Trump would help them -- you've just been had.

Looks like the GOP establishment is winning.

With Republicans retaining majorities in Congress, Trump will have a clearer shot at enacting major tax cut and reform legislation and rolling back the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial regulation law passed in the wake of the financial crisis.

This was the big difference between Trump and Clinton. Clinton would've had prominent and respected members in her party who increasingly have the majority of Democratic voters on their side voicing their concerns at every step.

Trump will have a blank check to continue to the same old monied corruption. I guess he has Bannon, but nobody but his alt-right followers likes him. Republicans hate him because he's anti Wall Street, banks, money, etc., and Democrats hate him because he's anti Jews, minorities, women, i.e., pretty much everyone but white Christian men.

I guess we'll have to wait four years for a chance at real change.

Yes, Toshiko, it is amazing how inbred the upper echelons are. Charles Kushner, a NJ mega landlord and major Dem donor, was sent to prison for a year by prosecutor Chris Christie. Did you think they would let bygones be bygones and work together for the good of the country?

Another great case study is Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel, who got a 50,000 donation from Trump in 2010. He made a point of saying this week that Chicago will remain a sanctuary city during Trump's term.

WASHINGTON—Another round of staff changes buffeted President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team Tuesday amid resistance from within the Republican Party over a top choice for secretary of state.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence formally signed documents that put him in charge of the transition team, and officials insisted the 10-week effort to build an administration is on schedule. In one of his first moves, Mr. Pence ordered the removal of all lobbyists from the transition team, said one transition team member with knowledge of the decisions.

Earlier Tuesday, former Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers, once considered a candidate to lead the Central Intelligence Agency, was ousted from the Trump transition team’s national security unit. Matthew Freedman, who was leading the group’s planning for the White House National Security Council, also departed. Mr. Freedman didn’t return messages seeking comment.

Mr. Rogers was told he was being replaced because everyone who was brought in by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the transition team’s original chairman, was being ousted, according to a person familiar with the conversation. Frank Gaffney, a Reagan administration veteran, was brought in to assist on national security issues, as has GOP U.S. Reps. Pete Hoekstra and Devin Nunes. the removal of all lobbyists from the transition team, said one transition team member with knowledge of the decisions.

But there is still Pence.

In a lot of ways he's worse than Trump, and I have a feeling him and Trump's other advisors will be running the show. George W. all over again...

People are tired of the race and gender card.

Trump and his advisers have been playing that set of cards.

No non-white males are afraid of the things said by Bannon, who is now a president elects chief strategist with some parity to a chief of staff. His strategy is simple, feed the hate and support white males. It is a throw back to the 1950's.

White males who have some sense about the constitution, bill of rights and the country are also afraid of what may happen to civil rights under the distorted view of a right wing nationalist as a chief strategist.

I don't envy Trump having to walk a tightrope of needing the establishment to actually govern while looking ant-establishment by including the likes of Bannon.

He's contributing to the swamp so vigorously, I'm going to refer to him as Swamp Thing ... There ! Donald Swamp-Thing.

After the dust settles, what will the middle and lower classes get? Trump change. In Scamalot..

There is rumor that Giuliani is trying to be appointed as Secretary of State. Trump needs a person who has knowledge of foreign countries and relation, not a mayor who is proud that he also had three wives like Trump did. He is not sworn yet. He has to handle various lawsuits right now.

What a toss-up: someone destined to be called Munchkin, or the last human to be called Wilbur.

While he may not have made racist statements himself, he runs Breitbart News which started out as something akin to Fox News but has progressively gone lower to make Fox look like CNN. Bannon has proudly said that Breitbart is a platform for the alt-right movement, which no reasonable person would deny is anti-semetic, anti-women, homophobic, etc.

Here are some of their headlines; "Hoist it high and proud: the confederate flag proclaims a glorious heritage," "Bill Kristol: Republican spoiler, renegade Jew,” “Birth control makes women unattractive and crazy,” “Would you rather your child had feminism or cancer?” and “Suck it up buttercups: Dangerous Faggot Tour returns to colleges in September.”

I don't know if Bannon himself holds these views, but he certainly doesn't mind peddling this crap to his audience of deplorables.

How is Pence worse?

He doesn't believe climate change is real, he praised the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling (one of the root causes of corruption in politics), he supported George W's failed attempt to privatize social security, he defunded Planned Parenthood, which provided screening and preventative measures during an HIV outbreak in his state because he's against abortion, he supports abstinence education over safe sex education, he believes reducing corporate income taxes will improve the economy (it didn't in his state), etc.

In other words, he's a typical Republican. Trump, to his credit, is not a typical Republican, but unfortunately, he's surrounded himself with them.
