but I do think that the man is very honorable

Trump University? Asking his followers to watch non-existent sex tapes? Insulting the face of a woman running against him? Posting unflattering photos of a rival’s wife? Birtherism? Skimming off charities?

He’s got skills - he’s a great media manipulator, but honorable?

Gettysburg:

return to sender, address unknown

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump has been around in history books for a very long time and how that will play out in the years and months we don’t know and we won’t know for some time, but I do think that the man is very honorable and if other people don’t that’s their personal opinion, as far as education is concerned I do believe parents have the right to school choice I do believe parents have the right to send the children to any school they want and if they don’t want their children to go to a run down public school with parents are fearful The safety of their children and the education is deplorable and the violence is out of control, they have every right to take their children to where they think they will get a safe and proper education

That is absolutely not true, I would never approve of anyone being shot or killed, however I do approve of countries exerting laws on their own sovereignty and how they execute them it’s up to them, do I call for killing of anyone, I do not, but every country has the right to sovereignty.

Unless you think the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the same as the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. Maybe confusing the 1960s for the 1860s.

No, I’m saying that Democrats didn’t support any of them.

https://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-blog/national-party-news/343960-false-advertising-how-the-democrats-attempt-to-rewrite

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

You are confusing the GOP for the democrats.

No, this is in the history books.

You want the kids to be embrace racism?

I don’t that’s why I would never allow my kids to go to public schools in the states for that reason..

Sure Abe Lincoln was honorable and trump is not, glad we agree.

I never said Trump was dishonorable, quite the contrary, we are all equal and we all have the same blood.

*Bass: Democrats are not the ones that voted for the *civil rights act

Me: False. A supermajority in both parties voted for it.

Bass: No, they didn’t.

Republicans passed the 13 Amendment, which ended slavery.

Republicans passed the 14th Amendment, which made black people citizens.

Republicans passed the 15th Amendment, which gave black people the right to vote.

You're changing the topic that you brought up. Unless you think the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is the same as the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments. Maybe confusing the 1960s for the 1860s.

sorry, with the exception of Schumer that one Democrat has said anything negative about China

How many democrats begged Xi for reelection support?

None!!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The US defense budget is crazy. Need to negotiate with China and Russia to decrease it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

If that were true then Democrats for the last six years would have never tried to use race as a weapon never and they constantly do it and still do it on a daily basis

Unfortunately the right wing thinks calling for racial equality and ending racial discrimination is playing the race card. Anything which diminishes their idea of racial superiority is a threat to them.

Democrats don’t need to run for the past, they need to embrace their history

No one needs to embrace a racist history, unfortunately the nutty right wing will not understand it as they are still living in a racist past.

that is not what I said (sigh) Again,

Repeating the same thing doesn't make it any different. Abe Lincoln tried to heal a country.

Unfortunately trump's racist administration is bent on dividing it by undoing all Abe Lincoln achieved.

People who support confederates should not be invoking Abe,!!

I used to have hope that the Democrats would not use the race card to score political points,

What about the racist trump administration's racist card??

Bigots ignore that because it shows them for what they really are.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Yeah but what about trump? Boy, he really screwed up.

How?

No, anyone who thinks the opposite has their head in the sand.

sorry, with the exception of Schumer that one Democrat has said anything negative about China not in this it administration and definitely not an Obama’s administration.

No he didn’t.

Anyone who thinks Biden would be tough on China has got their heads in the sand.

No, anyone who thinks the opposite has their head in the sand.

Oh my...

“China is going to eat our lunch? Come on, man, they can’t figure out how they’re going to deal with the corruption that exists within the system. I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what? They’re not competition for us.”

Joe Biden

Trump got the economy roaring and rebuilt the military in 3 years

No he didn’t.

Um, yes he did.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

How come eight years of Obama couldn't fix this?

Yeah but what about trump? Boy, he really screwed up. What a dope. I believe this news item is about his mistakes.

Anyone who thinks Biden would be tough on China has got their heads in the sand.

No, anyone who thinks the opposite has their head in the sand.

Trump's dividing a long divided nation...

How come eight years of Obama couldn't fix this?

weakening the country while China and Russia get stronger.

Pffft! Trump got the economy roaring and rebuilt the military in 3 years. No one has been tougher on Russia and China than Trump. Anyone who thinks Biden would be tough on China has got their heads in the sand.

erect statues of people that made a difference in the county and what these men have done so that there is a complete and full picture of our history.

Would you be OK with a monument honoring the perpetrators of the My Lai massacre? Or how about one celebrating the Watergate break-in?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

That's the role the GOP has taken over.

If that were true then Democrats for the last six years would have never tried to use race as a weapon never and they constantly do it and still do it on a daily basis

A racist, cruel history which decent people want to forget,

Democrats don’t need to run for the past, they need to embrace their history and what caused the nation, because Democrats weren’t the ones that emancipated the slaves. Democrats are not the ones that voted for the civil rights act the Democrats were the ones that decided to create the great society which impoverished millions of blacks

Whatever history you've learnt, Abe Lincoln did not want the confederates to win!!!

that is not what I said (sigh) Again, Lincoln felt that after the war was over and among loud protests He decided to bury the confederate dead soldiers along with union death soldiers and the symbolic move to tell the nation as divided as we were we are still one nation and if we fly together we die together and that’s why he buried soldiers of both sides together.

I used to have hope that the Democrats would not use the race card to score political points, but since their policies always fail and they don’t have anything to rely on, race seems like a great like a logical and opportunistic metaphor that they can recycle again and again for political gain.

Right wing elitists don't know what America wants.

Definitely the left wing radicals don’t either

The system must be dismantled and the means of production in the hands of the people, not the boss class.

Well that won’t happen, not unless you want a complete loss government like Somalia.

Power must be for and by the people, not the rich criminals in charge.

I agree. But toppling statues in forcing people to means by anarchism and fascism won’t change anything, especially pushing for defunding the police, the very people that protect us

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The bigots in the Democrat party historical

That's the role the GOP has taken over.

but according to their actions over the last 73 days show something completely different.

As usual scarce on facts and rich in innuendo

No, but that’s part of my history

A racist, cruel history which decent people want to forget, only the decent ones though !!

As an approval which was stated that Lincoln wanted the country

Whatever history you've learnt, Abe Lincoln did not want the confederates to win!!!

that we were all Americans and even among protests he decided to bury confederate soldiers alongside with union soldiers,

Sure he wanted everyone to be treated equally no one ever questioned that.

Unlike the bigot in power today who sows division and encourages hate

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Right wing elitists don't know what America wants.

Regime change won't bring about what the people deserve.

The system must be dismantled and the means of production in the hands of the people, not the boss class.

Power must be for and by the people, not the rich criminals in charge.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

trump and his bigoted supporters care more about confederates than for the living in America.

The bigots in the Democrat party historical and even today want to pontificate, but according to their actions over the last 73 days show something completely different.

As compared to trump who wants to bring back the confederate symbols and their racist ideology.

No, but that’s part of my history and you can keep everything intact and add in addition to that and erect statues of people that made a difference in the county and what these men have done so that there is a complete and full picture of our history.

Symbolic of what, declaring a victory for confederates???

As an approval which was stated that Lincoln wanted the country to heal and that we were all Americans and even among protests he decided to bury confederate soldiers alongside with union soldiers, with this life with Lincoln was a magnificent president, because he understood even back then as a flight nation that we are all in this together and that is what Americans want.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

I wonder where Trump got the idea of holding a Gettysburg Rally? He's transparently desperate to find a fitting symbolic location with gravitas behind which to hide the emptiness of his persona.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I don’t see what the problem is, Democrats don’t care about any of these soldiers anyway

trump and his bigoted supporters care more about confederates than for the living in America.

did you ask the average young person today on the streets they couldn’t tell you about any of the major players.

No I didn't go to the average young person and conduct a survey, did you?

Can you share the report?

because he thought as a nation and as a unified America we need to heal

As compared to trump who wants to bring back the confederate symbols and their racist ideology.

I think a Gettysburg address would be a very symbolic place to do it

Symbolic of what, declaring a victory for confederates???

trump and his band of bigots might want that , but Americans dont!!

Disgraceful!!!

This shameless confederate supporter wants to use Gettysburg for his nomination speech.

I cannot think of a worse way to desecrate everything Abe Lincoln stood for!!

Abother kick in the face of America, its history and its democracy traditions.

A sick bastardization. What next - is his next fascist rally going to be at Lexington, Massachusetts?

Disgusting!

I don’t see what the problem is, Democrats don’t care about any of these soldiers anyway regardless if they’re confederate or union, did you ask the average young person today on the streets they couldn’t tell you about any of the major players. For one thing Lincoln did get crap about taking in confederate soldiers and burying them alongside union soldiers and he did that because he thought as a nation and as a unified America we need to heal and we are all Americans, so if Trump does get reelected I think a Gettysburg address would be a very symbolic place to do it

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Well, Gettysburg may be too busy with tourists Donald, let me offer several others that get your same point across....

Little Rock Central High School - you can rant about how unfair it was they they let in black students in 1957...

The Edmund Pettus Bridge - more "Law and Order" talk and you can disrespect Representative John Lewis once more for not attending your inauguration...

Money Mississippi - you can twist history and say Emmett Till was just a BLM member who got what he deserved...

I'm sure David Duke would be more than happy to act as MC and give you your introduction...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Trump has defended the use of Confederate symbols as a source of pride and history for Americans.

A source of pride? Maybe for the Confederates and their supporters and descendants but the Confederacy was never a part of the Union. Let them secede and become their own sovereign nation again and then I have no problem with them flying that flag and keeping their monuments.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

First, how is Gettysburg as a place pandering to the base?

Second, yeah its his nomination speech for a second term, right?

so the primary focus would be people who will vote for him, of course.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

23,000 union soldiers did not die at Gettysburg for a shameless confederate backer to make a disgraceful speech 157 years later!!!!!

9 ( +9 / -0 )

As for Gettysburg, sure why not? plenty of social distancing space.

Yep, and in the interests of further social distancing and pandering to the base it's rumored that the Gettysburg Rally crowd will be strictly controlled by "Bikers fer Trump".

Way back last December when President Trump was impeached, which of course led to an inevitable acquittal by a Republican backed Senate, I predicted he would soar to victory with his minions being even more motivated. Since then we have had COVID-19, race riots, murder hornets, plague squirrels, UFOs being declared by the military (only to be later debunked), and a myriad of other problems. Anyone who says they can predict the outcome of this election (assuming one will even be held) is delusional. The US has a choice between an incompetent incumbent, and a babbling wannabe. The World Has Gone Stark Raving Mad.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

As for Gettysburg, sure why not? plenty of social distancing space.

You do realize this is where the Confederacy lost the war right? how can you pander to someone by visiting the place they lost the battle? looking forward to the mental gymnastics on that one.

The draft-dodging Trump at Gettysburg? The same man who shamelessly panders to Confederate flag waving yahoos?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

It's worrying to see the increasing bizarre and hysterical statements coming from Trump and his supporters.

It's like the madness that infected Europe in the 30s.

Which reminds me, how about this history lesson from the interrupted press conference, earlier:

At one point he compared the Covid-19 crisis to the “the great pandemic” of 1917, saying it was a “terrible thing” that “probably ended the Second World War, all the soldiers were sick”.

The pandemic occurred in 1918, and World War II ended in 1945.

Why does he lie so much?

11 ( +11 / -0 )

Totally missing the point as usual.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

So the GOP is going to allow Trump to have another photo op at Gettysburg like the one in front of St John’s Episcopal Church? Gettysburg is hallowed ground, don't let him near that place.

First liberals and anarchists tear up statues and vilify anyone that honored many of these Generals they hated them with a passion and now worry about how his possible acceptance speech could desecrate the hallowed ground of where the people fought. These people are so hypocritical. Lol

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Will airforce one land at the original airport.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

He still doesn't know what Gettysburg meant in history.

"Well, I think some were dressed in blue and some in gray.. I'm sure no one was wearing a tan uniform. It must have been hot. Really hot...

You could see the sweat on their brows. I could see it happening and they were fighting over a line. The Mason Dixon line. If they had only built a wall..."

The draft-dodging Trump at Gettysburg? The same man who shamelessly panders to Confederate flag waving yahoos?

An early draft of Trump’s “Bigly Beautiful Gettysburg Address”

“Four score and a very long time ago, our forefathers (who were very well respected) created a, and many people are saying it; A YUGE, very powerful country, started in liberty for rich white men who loved (and in Jefferson’s case LOVED) their slaves, on the idea that ‘When you’re a star, you can get away with anything. You can even grab ‘em by the’.....”

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Trump and the Trump Republicans know their base includes white nationalists. They know this could be a close election. They can't afford to say anything negative about the confederacy knowing many white nationalists still side with it.

Biden is in the opposite position, they have anarchists, BLM and socialists that want police defunding and won’t settle for less and Biden can’t afford to alienate these people, they’re crucial to his base and is walking a very tight line.

To keep white nationalists in the Trump camp, Trump's R's will continue to cater to them. Even if it means further alienating Black people, further increasing racial tensions.

Blacks overwhelmingly vote Democrat at 92% there’s no catering when people follow a liberal echo chamber.

Lincoln said "A house divided against itself cannot stand."

Liberals invoking Lincoln now? He did say that and yet the Democrats have never tried to work unified as a party for the last 3 years.

We don't need a second "Gettysburg Address" from "Old Bonespurs". Next, he'll want his head on Mt. Rushmore if reelected. Reportedly, he's noticed there's room for one more and has expressed a narcissistic interest in seeing himself up there with Republican Lincoln, the only Potus who, according to his version of history, did more for Blacks than he did.
