Well, yeah. Lots of things can happen when you continue to believe things with no evidence. January 6 is just one of many potential outcomes.
What makes the GOP even worse is that even after thorough investigations show they have no basis for their claims, they continue to believe them anyway. Repeat the lie enough and evidence becomes meaningless.

"they were “complicit” in undermining democracy."
Amen. I Trump had it his way God Forbid, the US would have sunk to a new level of Anarchy.

Of course, a most recent Senate committee meeting explains it all!
There are entire towns filled with them.
Desert Tortoise
The possibility that a state legislature could overturn the results of an election that favored a candidate from a party other than the majority party of said state legislature. Until 2020 nobody thought that was even remotely possible. Now it appears almost 100% certain that one or more state legislatures will try to do so in the future.
Desert Tortoise
Like religion.

Please do tell us your stories about growing up in the U.S. and fearing for your life everyday from far right extremists.

@NOMINATION
LOL! I see someone has no response to the information presented, so you are attempting to distract by getting off topic.
You need to be a little more specific!
Silvafan
Ironically, the GOP and the conservative movement are the progenitors of "Cancel Culture".
Mocheake
That's FORMER president, and loser of the popular vote by a huge margin in the last two national elections. It's pretty clear that the majority of the voters in the country think his vision needs correction.
bass4funk
Here we go, now there’s a conspiracy theory in progress. Liz is trying her hardest. She’s going to have as much of an effect with her benign message as Romney, Sasse and Kinzinger had which is not a whole lot. But she can try like they all did, but to dissuade 78 million voters, good luck Liz! Seriously, you scale that mountain.
NOMINATION
Darn! I had the popcorn ready to hear some juicy stories about your trials and tribulations with far right extremists/white supremacists, running from pickup trucks painted with confederate flags. I guess I will have to wait another day.
Bob Fosse
Nope. More like focusing on eating each other.
Lol. Here we go again. 78, ok. 78 is lower than 81. You’ll need more.
Ah_so
Japan? LOL.
bass4funk
Nope. Liz can say what she wants, go where she wants, go on Twitter, FB, she’s nowhere even close to be canceled, she’s not even kicked out of congress, she just was voted out as not helping the party move forward on issues that matter to the majority of conservatives.

In small towns in the intermountain west if you are not a right wing born again "christian" or mormon you keep your mouth shut and your head down lest you attract unwanted attention. There are violent people out here and the Sheriffs look the other way or tacitly support it.

That is a nice lie, but it has been proven numerous times on JT that the former president did not receive 78 million votes.
Biden won 81,283,098 votes, or 51.3 percent of the votes cast. He is the first U.S. presidential candidate to have won more than 80 million votes. Trump won 74,222,958 votes, or 46.8 percent of the votes cast.
Trump lost by 7 million votes. Twice as many against Biden than he did against Hillary.
Desert Tortoise
Yes. The infamous Hollywood Black List which affected hundreds of actors, directors, writers and producers who found they could no longer work in their regular profession.
Jsapc
78 million people voted for the republican candidate.
As it stands, only 44% of republicans now support Trump.
https://www.businessinsider.com/republicans-support-gop-more-than-trump-poll-2021-4
Which is still way too much of course, but stop using that "78 million" number, because it's completely meaningless.

@NOMINATION
Well, that is what happens when you do not read. You just keep living in your bubble.
Are you ready to make a point with actual facts?

Back on topic please.

I watched an incite toon by a violent mob against a freely-elected co-equal bar’s church of government on live tv.
I actually asked myself “Why don’t the just shoot them?”
2 reasons:
1) the cops were way out-numbered.
2) The insurrectionists were white.
Next time, let’s fix the first part and ignore the second part.
Being an ignorant white fox-o-phile is not an excuse to try to overthrow the government on a lie.
Blacklabel
The point is that the whole Liz Cheney thing is played out and already no one cares anymore.
need to focus on the lack of job creation, rising inflation, wars starting, lack of cybersecurity, the wide open border. Liz Cheney was a good deflection for a week, but now Dems need to get to work actually governing the country.
GdTokyo
Here's how not to have another insurrection:
Monitor the poorly secured communications of white nationalists.
Seriously prepared for them to riot
Act like they are traitors when they do. In other words, no more pulling the gas masks off, no more "I GOT ONE!" no more spraying bear spray (Which specifically says on the can "Do not use on humans") without a response.
Trump Supporters are supposedly the "Law and Order" crowd. Let's show them some "Law and Order."
Blacklabel
so what is Liz Cheney going to become?
You do realize she has no chance of getting reelected.
Maybe she can join the Lincoln Project or another one of these we hate Trump organizations.
She is done representing the viewpoints of our party, and thankfully so.
GdTokyo
Liz may well win her seat again, and if she doesn't she is fine with that. What she is not fine with is spouting a lie that the election was fraudulent which it was not and not even you are claiming that anymore (Well, not directly anyway).
In power or not, she will continue to be a powerful voice for truth (Who's policies I disdain). She cannot be canceled because unlike the former guy, she has credibility.
Name for me ONE unitiversity, think tank or summit that would not pay for her to be the key note speaker. ONE.
Oh and Bass, repeatedly saying that Trump got 78 million votes does not make it true. He did not. He got about 74. And 78 is still less than 81. He lost.
Toasted Heretic
Cancel culture at its finest.
That said, I'm delighted that the GOP is dead in the water, 45 is going to jail along with the likes of Gaetz and other criminals, insurgents and sex offenders.
How any self-respecting follower of democracy could even contemplate supporting this anti-American party is beyond my ken.
I guess, like the terrorists of January 6th, they don't respect democracy. Or themselves.
Blacklabel
Liberty University.
Strangerland
The pubs are ramping up their cancel culture against Cheney. It's going to to be cancel culture bloodbath.
The Republican cancel culture masters are, as they've done for decades, continuing their extremist cancel culture.
Blacklabel
choosing to remove someone from your own leadership when they dont represent your beliefs isnt "cancel culture".
But you know this.
u_s__reamer
Liz Cheney, daughter of "Darkside Dick", may have gotten on the wrong side of the Donald, but she'll be remembered in history as one of the prominent enablers and apologists of 45, the person that many people say was the worst of the lot.
Breakout
@Blacklabel
LOL! I also recall you telling all of us that no matter what trump was going to win re-election and that the economy was getting better because of trump's business acumen.
How did that turnout for trump, the US, and you?
Blacklabel
before you fall in love with Liz Cheney all over again, you know she voted for Trump both times, dont you?
not so good for Trump in short term. But he is still the leader of our party and will lead the wins in 2022 and 2024. Everyone loves a comeback story.
for USA: Terrible for the USA., rising inflation and consumer prices, minimal job creation, border, no gas, new wars, getting owned by Russia and China in foreign relations.
For me: I lost some money, which I recovered from the very next week 100x more with meme stocks.
GdTokyo
Liberty University is as credible as Trump University.
And I happen to think that now that they are out of the grips of their threesome couples grifters, they might actually invite Liz.
She is a heck of a lot more conversant in Christian theology than "Corinthians II" guy was.
Toasted Heretic
When GOP beliefs have become completely based on lies, insurgency, bigotry, corruption, nepotism, subverting democracy and taking away voting rights - they probably shouldn't be representing anyone.
Breakout
@Blacklabel
And that was all before Biden took office!
You also failed to mention the 500,000 deaths by the "Comback Kid"!
Blacklabel
its actually not, they are referring to the voting RESULTS database not the registration one. which is why your new hero can say it wasnt deleted.
He also made his claim very specific- that it wasnt "entirely" deleted. so only parts of it were?
Anyway there was a whole article about this yesterday here.
Toasted Heretic
I've noticed on occasion, some nervous apologists for the 45ist cult tend to boast about money, to deflect from the madness gripping their party. As if such vulgarity with the nouveau riche is something to aspire to.
And yes, Cheney has voted in favour of 45 on occasion. Posters here are commending her recent behaviour.
Blacklabel
just so you are informed, the AZ senate sent a letter to the county. its not the voter registration database deflection you mentioned. Dont worry, rumor has it that the audit team may have been able to recover the deleted databases.
GdTokyo
How did that turnout for trump, the US, and you?
Hard to come back from prison. And ONE of the reasons that LIZ spoke out was because she discovered that the RNC was concealing data that Trump is 15 (FIFTEEN!) points under water in core districts. The "man" is historically unpopular and you are the only who seems to not get that.
Owned by Russia? Were you in a coma for the last for years? Oh, and a 63% approval rating. When did your guy even come into the same hemisphere as that number? Never.
But you were so sure.... And doesn't vetting on a Meme stock call into question one's basic business acumen? Asking on behalf of every MBA ever.
Jsapc
Are there really people who STILL think there was any form of massive fraud during the last election? At what point can we finally start treating them as members of an actual cult? They need help and there should be some form of deprogramming effort to get them back to the real world.
GdTokyo
I already do. Mark my words, It's a cult.
u_s__reamer
She is a heck of a lot more conversant in Christian theology than "Corinthians II" guy was.
Just to correct the record, it was "Two Corinthians". And no, it wasn't the two who walked into a bar to buy the unbeliever a beer.
Blacklabel
then 40% of Americans and 70% of Republicans meet your new definition of the word "cult".
I have an MBA -and- made money on meme stocks. A lot of it, so thanks.
GdTokyo
At least politically, I think we can all see who "dont".
GdTokyo
I had to look up the definition of a meme stock. Here it is:
So in other words. Black is a speculative grifter. He makes nothing. He produces nothing of value. He is a day-trader.
Toasted Heretic
Grift? No thanks.
What are these conservatives compensating for?

Typical people here. They hate anyone Republican until Trump calls them out and/or they call out Trump. So many lefties suddenly fell in love with McCain after he died and George W. after he said the election was legit. Now Cheney is their angel.
Jimizo
It’s a mark of how standards have fallen that someone is praised for not repeating baseless conspiracy theories. That should be expected.
That is the Trump effect.
bass4funk
but severely and politically weekend and century it in her home state and it’s going to be hard for her to hold on, because she doesn’t have that much support in her own state she might not last that long in politics.
Bob Fosse
I just like people with a little integrity and who unafraid to call out a lie. Don’t care what political label you give them.
Anyway, I thought you liked straight talkers.
bass4funk
She did and continues to make a losing argument to drum up support with other swamp establishment Republicans, So she’s not being censored and she’s not been kicked out of the party, she just lost her leader ship role and if the party felt that she should then so be it, she might do better of getting a bleeding hear from Chris Wallace
Yes, of course and we heard what she said and she can run all she wants, but she’ll be an Eric Swalwell on any Presidential ticket.
Express sister
Thank you for acknowledging that telling the truth is a "losing argument" among the GOP base.
lincolnman
I'm even more convinced that McConnell, McCarthy and Cheney all forged this faux narrative plot to rid the party of Trump and his MAGA-Masses....
They all know he is a Loser - lost the House in 2018 and the WH and Senate in 2020. They've seen the polls that put his favorability after the Jan 6th insurrection at just 29%. Most importantly, they have seen the polls where Independents are fleeing from the Repubs who they see as completely divorced from reality with their devotion to the Big Lie and comments like that the Jan 6th insurrection was just "a normal tourist visit"...
For career Repubs like McConnell, McCarthy, and Cheney, it's all abut power - and to have power you have to win elections and be in the majority. They have rightly concluded that Trump is completely toxic - and has to be cancelled.
The only way to do that without him bolting from the party is to manipulate him into thinking he got Cheney fired, when it reality it was freeing her to be "The Kraken".... Notice she appeared on several network shows this weekend, heightening her criticism of Trump.
As I said before, sneaky, those Repubs. This is a dark-arts hit-job even Roger Stone would admire...
bass4funk
I never said that and you need to stop distorting my words, so let me State for the record, the woman is not being censored and she’s allowed to say whatever she wants whenever she wants and go on any talk show, she’s not barred from speaking, but she’s going up against someone who has over 78 million followers and it’s a “losing argument” for her to try to dissuade them from trying to vote for him, that’s not going to happen and she might get some establishment republicans support but that’s not even going to be enough to even put her in any lead whatsoever in any upcoming presidential election.
lincolnman
I think I heard that same thing on SNL last night...
bass4funk
According to the swamp establishment rats, but that’s not their choice to decide what the people want, if they didn’t, then he wouldn’t have one in the first place for years ago come again there’s not one single Republican right now that could go up against Trump, not one.
What? Lol, anyway….
