"It's a really bad situation for most everyone in most countries."

Yeah, that's true, especially if you're an elected leader. Trump is not to blame for the Coronavirus, however, he did mishandle it early on by falling asleep at the wheel when he should have been bracing the country.

We've all seen this before. If there is a lot of misery out there in the general public, they'd vote for Mickey Mouse before voting for a president running for re-election. That's especially true if the death count rises high enough and the public perception is that the president did a sloppy job. Trump's poll numbers are still relatively good all things considered, but will they still be that way if a couple hundred thousand Americans die because of the Coronavirus?

This is a really bad situation for Trump.

It's a really bad situation for most everyone in most countries.

There's the very real possibility of tens of thousands of death caused by the coronavirus within the next few months and an economic recession worse than the one in 2008. Which way will voters vote in November?

The majority are going to vote for Trump. What, they're going to vote for Biden or Bernie or Hillary if she jumps in and steals the nomination again? Highly doubtful.

What? I thought we were all supposed to "go back to work"?

We will, without your help.

“Challenging times are ahead for the next 30 days,” Trump said during a Rose Garden press conference.

What? I thought the virus was "contained"? Were you wrong Donnie?

He called refraining from public outings “our shared patriotic duty” during the outbreak.

What? I thought we were all supposed to "go back to work"? Wrong again Donnie?

How incompetent can you get? Everything he utters is a lie, exaggeration, or conspiracy theory....

Put Pence back at the podium - he looks 100 times more Presidential than than you...

Better yet, you, Pence and the rest of the talking heads go play golf - and leave Dr Fauci in charge...

Because of his lack of vision, ability, and sympathy, Trump is not the right person who can lead the US out of this crisis.

Yeah? And who is? Biden? Bernie? Hillary?

The US ship of state right now is analogous to the Titanic. And Trump is the iceberg.

That's the spirit! America is doomed! LOL

Sounds like Trump is listening to the advisors. He needs to cut out the freewheeling and only give the facts that he knows, not flying off the cuff. Hopefully he will improve in this area, but the key is that he's listening.

50%..Vast majority

50% is not a majority at all.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@bassf4 stands at 50% it seems the vast majority of Americans trust this President soundly

50%? Vast majority? Maybe using Trump's standards, i.e. 'TV ratings' he's 'trusted', but not using those poll numbers. I'm trying to recall which poster says don't trust polls.

According to his handling of this which his poll number stands at 50% it seems the vast majority of Americans trust this President soundly

What?

Why not postponing the presidential election by 2021?

I looked into this - it's set out by law when the election must take place, and unlikely that enough people would ever agree to get it changed.

It still really wouldn’t have made that much of a difference, as long as we don’t have a cure, the infections will continue to raise

It's the rate of increase that matters. Remember, the so-called hoax that Trump said was almost fixed last month is now more prevalent in America than any other country, due to his ineptitude.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Time will tell. Because of the cuts in medical service done by his admin, because he refused to listen to the warnings from US intelligence agencies and medical experts Trump's forced the country to have to play catchup to a fast moving monster.

It still really wouldn’t have made that much of a difference, as long as we don’t have a cure, the infections will continue to raise, The man culprit is China and their lack of willingness to share information of this deadly virus.

Which is resulting in who knows how many deaths and illnesses while devastating the country's economy. Next to the asterisk denoting he was impeached will be 'Trump failed to act when he needed to'. But of course he'll say 'not responsible for that' which his followers will parrot.

Why not postponing the presidential election by 2021? I know it sounds silly, though.... Trump looks overwhelmed. Such state of mind, lack of focus won't do any good amid the crisis.

Though not supporting him personally, I believe that America now needs the leadership with a strong mandate and bipartisan solidarity.

No, he's doing a great job.

No, he's speaking to the whole country.

The whole country? Doubtful the 65% (estimate) of Americans who believe in science listen to a word Trump says and instead listen to medical medical experts. Now is a time when Americans need an articulate, honest leader. Trump's neither. People who listen to him on TV do so because of the office Trump holds, not him.

Nothing about the seriousness. He said people were stealing supplies. Now Trump repeats his claim and only Trump is lying?

yeah thanks been busy taking care of my finance, employees and family. As all of you should be instead of complaining about Trump. Not productive at all when people need help and hope.

> Not just people taking a couple or three, I mean just actual thefts of those products," Cuomo said on March 7. "I've asked the state police to do an investigation, look at places that are selling masks, medical equipment, protective wear, feeding the anxiety."

so Cuomo lied in early March to cause a panic

Glad to see you positing again, Blacklabel.

Any links to evidence that Cuomo was lying to cause panic? You do realize that now that you’ve made this claim, you can’t say Cuomo was downplaying the seriousness of this, correct?

Making the right decision based on facts and advice from health experts is not flip-flopping.

It is after having contradicted those experts for weeks. HAR!

At this point Trump's only speaking to his base;

No, he's speaking to the whole country.

the rest of the country is tuning him out.

No, they're not.

What a pathetic legacy he's leaving.

No, he's doing a great job.

De Donnie, flip-flopping as always.

Making the right decision based on facts and advice from health experts is not flip-flopping.

Better late than then never, but his delay will inevitably result in the deaths of thousands.

Trump stopped flights from China back in January, saving the lives of thousands.

“Challenging times are ahead for the next 30 days,” Trump said

Say challenging times ahead. Full stop. STOP with the dates! As Dr Fauci said, humans don't make the timeline, the virus does. False hope is worse for most than no hope. At this point Trump's only speaking to his base; the rest of the country is tuning him out. What a pathetic legacy he's leaving.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Dont forget that he accused medical people in the hospitals of taking supplies and selling them. These people are exhausted, putting their lives on the line, and we're just getting started.

So how does our idiot leader inspire them? By accusing them of theft. He really is a flaming *****.

I wonder what Fauci and co showed him to make him change his mind. I imagine that they knew that they had to get the right image/graph in front of him to get him to change his mind and had been talking about it for some days about how they could get through to him.

It was a meeting that saved thousands of lives.

Some people have claimed that Donny only contradicted the experts for a short time back at the beginning, but we know it continued until recently:

*The comments came a day after Trump made a dramatic course reversal** and announced that he would not be moving to ease the guidelines and get the economy back up and running by Easter, as he said last week he hoped to do.*

. . .

Trump's impulse to reopen the country, driven by pleas from business leaders, met a sober reality check from health experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci

. . .

*Trump, who has largely avoided talk of potential death and infection rates,** cited projection models Sunday *

. . .

*For weeks, Trump had minimized the gravity of the pandemic,** and Pelosi on Sunday accused Trump of “denial” in the crisis and called it “deadly."*

Does anyone really need further evidence of Donny’s incompetence? It’s disingenuous to claim that he has handled this crisis even remotely competently. Smh.
