Should've known from the start that the optics would be bad, no matter how ya cut it

It's not about cost - it's about advertisement

Can't make it look you're enriching yourself

Gotta help others, before helping yourself to the meal

Donny, who never backs down, backs down, again!!

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Hahaha! Doesn’t change the fact he tried, and initially rewarded himself the contract, which goes against the Constitution.

The man doesn't take a paycheck but is "using the presidency to enrich himself" by hosting an international summit at his resort. Give me a break.

Yeah, but it didn’t happen, so no crime, no foul.

Advertisement is worth more than any government paycheck he'd receive

This golf resort should have never been considered for the G7, and it’s up to the American people to investigate how this could have ever been an option. Are there any adults in the room when Trump blatantly violates the emoluments clause? America is literally running on auto-pilot.

His company properties SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED TO BEGIN WITH. It's clear that he's been using his company to launder political donations and favors from foreign governments, the Ukrainian President said so OUTRIGHT in his phone call.

According to the memo, Zelensky complimented Trump's plane, conspicuously mentioned that he stayed in Trump Tower, recycled a Trump campaign slogan, and called him a "great teacher."

 Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility

They're going to pay for this dearly in 2020.

considering the POTUS salary is only about $400,000, meanwhile all those golf trips to his resorts have cost the taxpayer over $100million no prize for guessing whos profited the most from those trips, seems his paycheck is petty cash compared to this.

Yeah, but it didn’t happen, so no crime, no foul.

but its well documented thats hes already provided considerable from his over 2 dozen golf trips nearly all to his own golf resorts, do you really think he loaned the use of his properties for free to the taxpayer. LMFAO, so it seems.. Yes crime, no foul... pretty much sums up a Trump supporter

funny thing is Democrats said that about Trump in 2016, have to be careful about overconfidence disguised as frustration. more than a year to go , far more corruption to expose before then. that is corruption supported with FACTS and evidence, not some alternate reality many seem to live in.

Predictable, the Trump hating echo chamber is erupting again. It is orange man bad non-stop everyday, but other than the fake CNN slogans I fail to see any rational arguments. But hey, that is fanaticism and mass hysteria for you.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

This dude is a walking book of jokes.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

"Those darn Democrats and obnoxious press, making me follow the constitution," cries our *****-in-chief.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Really the President can't not hold any position or run a company while in office. The resort is not his and the Hotel in Washington is not his until he is out of office. So he is not profiting while being President. His tax return while in office will show what he earns for being pay for being the President and that what it will show. So please point out what is illegal about holding at the resort when these business are not in his name while he is President.

Trump will have to look elsewhere for his G-spot. Somebody finally had to spell out E-M-O-L-U-M-E-N-T-S for the pathetic analphabetic in the Oval Office.

Nice.

Do you have any opinion on this?

I think Trump was stupid to do it and got a well deserved slap and then pulled his smacked arse face.

sorry what part of profiting from the Presidency , or seeking foreign help to interfere in a US election is seen as legal.

Trump has profited considerable from his position as POTUS with the FACTS and receipts to prove it.

so it would seem . Laws broken = irrational argument, pretty much sums up Trump supporters

Trump fans love it when he lines his pockets with government money.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

It only took how long for Donny to do the right thing?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Yeah, but it didn’t happen, so no crime, no foul.

Someone does know about inchoate crimes.

@Christopher Lowery:

The Constitution contains a “domestic emoluments clause” (Article II, Section 1, Paragraph 7), which prohibits the president from receiving any “Emolument” from the federal government or the states beyond “a Compensation” for his “Services” as chief executive. Any violation of this is an impeachable offense.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

@christopherYou can what you want about his business dealings etc. , but you can't say he is filling his pockets.

Yes, you can. (see link below) And the US taxpayers are picking up the tabs for his golf outings (one example) while his properties are profiting from his visits. And getting free advertising.

Or perhaps you've seen his latest tax info and know something I don't. If you have seen them, please share.

dmacleod - you'd go blue in the face trying to explain this to Tangerine Tubby believers again and again and again. It's against the law. Geez.

This time the swamp suddenly got too deep and big boy was out of his depth.

Who the hell cares where he summit is held, as long as it is a success!

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

But this wasn't going to make him any richer

Here we have someone who does not understand how business works. Ever hear there is no such thing as a free lunch? Well, the publicity alone would profit the man. Any item or service they purchase outside of the "free lunch" would turn a profit. We don't care if its nickles and dimes. We care that not one foot is placed on that slippery slope cause next time it will be dollars. Then hundreds. Then thousands and so on.

The greedy rich already have too much control of America. Not only do we need to guard against it getting worse, we need to turn back the clock.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Hey Trump people, this is all your fault. If Trump and Hanniy hadn't made a big deal about Hillary using her private server then Hillary and CNN news crew would not have made a big deal over Trump using his private property for this. You guys wanted to start this.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So you couldn't give him the contract? It's not like it would go into his pocket, he would have charged 'at cost' meaning he wouldn't have made a cent in profit.

Yes, the man is rich. But this wasn't going to make him any richer.

It would be pretty cheap for a global advertising campaign.

Trump is not a charitable individual, unlike the Gates, for example. In fact, he abuses charity to help his private interests.

He won't pay a dime unless there is something in it for him.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

POTUS, nothing new there, the US Government loves to wastefully spend money on high priced hotels vs cheaper rate. In this case a top rate hotel at a cost savings to the tax payers sounds crazy.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Oh my...

Trump fans love it when he lines his pockets with government money.

Americans love it when the economy is booming and unemployment is at a record low and our troops are getting out of Syria.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

considering the POTUS salary is only about $400,000

By looking at the Clintons and Obamas, who entered the White House middle-class and exited wealthy, one would have expected a larger salary. I wonder where their new money came from?
