Finally we have a president who has the guts to say NO. So far the UN and the all other organizations were just eating the tax money of US citizen and serving the countries who bribe them. The very good example is China, the Wuhan virus ( now changed the name the covid). What Trump said is 100% correct never allow them to play games with USA. Go forward Trump. China should learn the lesson.

U.S. President Donald Trump faced international resistance Thursday to his plan to

more firmly establish the US under his 'leadership' as a rogue state.

Remember the American virus of 2009?

Of course not, because it wasn't called that. To do so would have inflamed prejudices.

There's no need to discriminate.

Meanwhile, Jan 23- WHO were warning us to be careful, with reports of clusters of the virus.

Mar 8- Trump saying "they" are trying to scare people, in order to ruin the US economy, so he loses the election.

Now, the coronavirus was in the US long before 23 Jan. Blame the WHO for that, if you must. But we can all see just what Trump is up to. Very, very clearly.

I thought the WHO was an arm of the UN, whereby its budget came entirely from the UN.

But, certainly, it's not the time to discuss matters of financial contribution. Trump should take issue with this problem at another time when the pandemic calms down. Otherwise, chickens will never fail to come home to roost in his own country and the world.

the USA doesn’t need to pay the WHO almost a billion dollars to be told this:

You do realize the WHO does more than this, correct?

Now, in the middle of a pandemic, is not the time for Donny’s moronic go-it-alone plan.

We're so sorry that you don't approve of stopping U.S. taxpayer money from being wasted on an organization as corrupt as the WHO.

That’s just a load of crap! Calling a virus what it is or naming it from its origin is not even in the slightest racist. We get it China wants to cover their tracks, but they get a pass because they don’t like the attention? No one EVER complained about calling it what it is and where it came from Until China had a fit and said, we don’t like this, it ties the origin of the disease directly to us.

This is the best line ever from one of the liberalist person I know.

110% on the mark.

They were slow on that as well.

He was right.

Yeah, we see what China is up to. We should continue to fund a organization that’s in the pocket of China. I would go nuts if Trump hadn’t come to this decision. Let China cover the costs and if the world wants to tolerate an organization that will back and do what China says and the world will continue to tolerate it, so be it, but not with our money.

I doubt Fox 'news', RT, 8chan, Breitbart and the other sources alt rightists use to get comments to parrot report much more than 'UN bad bad very bad'.

@serranoWe're so sorry that you don't approve of stopping U.S. taxpayer money from being wasted on an organization as corrupt as the WHO.

Who's 'we'? If I thought an organization looking at health issues around the globe, because after all viruses and diseases don't recognize borders, and also had equal expertise regarding treatments for diseases was readily available to replace WHO I'd say stop sending them money. Until then, WHO's the only option. Too bad for its citizens nations like the US have made healthcare for all and disease prevention such a low priority.

Yes they also mishandle local outbreaks into worldwide pandemics in the name of politics.

You do realize the WHO does more than this, correct?

Coming from people who support a president that's so far in Putin's pocket that he can actually touch his scrotum, this whole scapegoating is really flabbergasting. Please stop pretending you care about China, because you don't. You only care about finding someone to blame for your leader's mistakes, and you decide to blame scientists and doctors. People who's sole purpose is saving lives on this planet. The whole world is now telling you you made a big mistake, but somehow everbody's wrong and you, and only you, are right.

That's your choice and history will remember it.

Please continue to vote and make decisions that completely go against you own interest, we will just watch with you with the appropriate sadness and/or disdain.

Interesting discussion here.

It is importat to remember that being a part of a group such as under EU or UN or Global organization, does not mean that anyone must support or conform and that one cannot object if such organization or group is harmful to its members or others outside the membership and to the principles of established for that group or organization.

To idealize and purify the thoughts and actions of one group only because of its name and what "it stands for" does not justify allowing misconducts or misrepresentation and misuse of its authority and privileges.

You can at the same time praise the WHO for all the work it has done now and be critical of their actions, leadership, members and mistakes. I don't think anybody here is idolizing it. It's a group made of human people, and like all human people they are fallible.

What you can't do is forget what the WHO did, does and will continue doing and focus/exaggerate some mistakes, accuse them of having sinister objectives and all-around smear to justify cutting their funding, because the president doesn't want to take responsibility fort anything wrong that happens, ever.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Just because Trump is a complete idiot unfit for office and 99% of everything he says and does is nonsense doesn't mean he's not right with respect to China's undue control over the WHO and the damage that has done to the whole world. Blaming and punishing the WHO does indeed serve to deflect responsibility for his actions, but that doesn't mean he's not correct. There is no doubt in my mind that the "influence" China has over the WHO needs to be investigated and that is the UN's responsibility. To reject this US action is to prioritize one's personal hatred (which I happen to share) for Trump, over the welfare of the entire global human population.

Interesting to see how this story is presented on Fox News:

G7 leaders call for ‘thorough review’ of besieged WHO amid questions about coronavirus, pro-China bias

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/g7-leaders-call-for-thorough-review-of-besieged-who-amid-questions-about-coronavirus-pro-china-bias

All of the statements are from Trump or the White House and zero time is given to world leaders saying they support the organization.

This is the best line ever from one of the liberalist person I know.

You don't know Bill Marr. And he's a culturally conservative hack, so.

No one EVER complained about calling it what it is and where it came from Until China had a fit and said, we don’t like this

This isn't true. It's been practice not to name diseases after where they were discovered for years because it can lead to misinformation. For example, "West Nile virus", while discovered in Egypt, is extremely rare there, but very common in parts of the US. However, few in the US get vaccinated for it, because of the belief that it primarily exists in Egypt, due to the name.

Yes they also mishandle local outbreaks into worldwide pandemics in the name of politics.

Ah, so Trump defunded them because he wants to be the only one doing that?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

We have always been at war with Eastasia/Eurasia, I mean, WHO.

The memory hole is functioning perfectly.

Trump is absolutely correct in cutting the funding to the WHO (aka CHO), until it rids itself of the CCP control it is under.

The article quotes Trudeau, Merkel, Macaron, Raab, and DI Maio as criticising Trump. The first three are about the most fanatic globalist activists one can think of, so no surprise there.

That Raab and Di Maio also side with the globalists is disappointing. Shows that the UK and Italy need more housecleaning.

Haha, so Bill Marr now is a "conservative hack"! It is amazing to see how quickly old comrades are thrown under the bus, the moment they go against the partyline. Do you think Jimmy Dore is a "conservative hack" too?

Trump faces global resistance to U.S. plan to cut WHO funding

Well, as we've seen, when it comes to Trump, the only global voice he listens to sits in the Kremlin...

So what’s the problem? We need to notify the world as far as who we think should get our funding? You are joking, right?

You don't know Bill Marr. And he's a culturally conservative hack, so.

Yeah, he’s as conservative as I am a far left socialist and Obama admirer.

Ok, you’re missing the issue, the only people making a stink about what and where this virus is from are the Chinese, please don’t peddle their garbage. They are the sole responsible party for unleashing this pandemic and if they get upset because the spotlight is on them, so be it.

Ah, so Trump defunded them because he wants to be the only one doing that?

I’m just happy he did it. That alone makes me want to crack open a bottle.

So the Kremlin told him to impose sanctions and send lethal aid to the Ukraine to make it easier to kill Russians? Please explain your logic.

Haha, so Bill Marr now is a "conservative hack"! It is amazing to see how quickly old comrades are thrown under the bus, the moment they go against the partyline.

Er, he's not an "old comrade". He's an Islamophobe fanatic who eagerly boosted far-right pedophile Milo Yiannopolis.

Do you think Jimmy Dore is a "conservative hack" too?

I don't know who that is, but his Wikipedia page makes him sound like a crank and a whack job.

No, you're missing the issue: naming diseases by their point of origin leads to misinformation, and this dead people. This is why it hasn't been done for years. Only Trump and his devotees are brainless enough to not only not know this, but to hear it, understand it, agree with it, then say they don't care because they're too fragile to accept that their obese master might be at fault for something.

Yeah, he’s as conservative as I am a far left socialist and Obama admirer.

Oh, weird that you suddenly became a far left socialist and Obama admirer, but okay.

America donates about $400 million, not $1 billion. The UK donates $318 million, more per capita, much more.

LOL, Bill Marr is a liberal (in the US sense of the term), and a staunch supporter of Clinton and Obama. He was a darling on your TV channels and and loved by your talking heads... until he strayed off the ranch.

I don't know who that is, but his Wikipedia page makes him sound like a crank and a whack job.

Dore is another comic and liberal, with a solidly leftist audience. (The last thing anyone could call him is a "Trump supporter". But he, too, strayed off the ranch, that is why I asked your opinion.

Bill Marr

It's Maher. Bill Maher. Please at least try to write his name correctly?

The WHO proved itself to be incompetent. Donald Trump is right again.
