The original man-boy pulls his favorite trick to keep his dirty laundry secret. Not going to work this time. Nope, it’s all coming out and there is going to be a reckoning.

Last week Trump issued a statement telling republican supporters not to vote in 2022 and 2024.

If the Republican Party does not “solve” the supposed voter fraud that he has falsely claimed precipitated his loss to President Joe Biden.

His Twitter account was not permanently suspended for inciting violence,

The courts will not support any claim to executive privilege. That was demonstrated when Richard Nixon unsuccessfully tried to use claims of executive privilege to hide his misconduct from investigation. A strong legal precedent already exists on this matter.

Zichi,

My memory is not absolutely clear on this but I seem to recall one of the stated reasons was his propensity for inciting violent behavior among his cult of supporters...

Trump is trying to hide him giving his insurrection isn’t supporters the green light to storm the seat of our federal government.

Monday's lawsuit was filed by Jesse Binnall, an attorney based in Alexandria, Virginia, who represented Trump in an unsuccessful lawsuit late last year seeking to overturn Biden’s victory in Nevada.

I hope he took sufficient advance, the former guy is definitely not going to pay him and probably will be bankrupt by the time the case is decided!

In a federal lawsuit, Trump said the committee's request was “almost limitless in scope,” and sought records with no reasonable connection to that day. He called it a “vexatious, illegal fishing expedition” that was “untethered from any legitimate legislative purpose,” according to the papers filed in federal court in the District of Columbia.

He also called the election a fraud, and himself stable genius. Trump isn't exactly in the business of calling things accurate.

That is something I can agree with. I encourage the republicans not to vote till Biden’s victory is overturned!!!

What is Trump trying to keep hidden this time? He think executive privilege is closer to what dictators have then US presidents have.

Trump thinks he is above the law, he hates US systems as do the hordes in his cult, that is another reason they want to further undermine and fracture the US. They want Trump to have powers like Putin, Xi, Duterte, Erdogan, MbS and MbZ have.

Just a while back we were hearing continuously “look at all the evidence, a day in court” etc. Strange that such transparency is apparently not requested here. Why is that? 3b?

No one is going to heed that, but given the new voter law in Texas, it would seem 26 states will follow to implement the same law

If the Republican Party does not “solve” the supposed voter fraud that he has falsely claimed precipitated his loss to President Joe Biden.

According to the left…again.

His Twitter account was not permanently suspended for inciting violence,

Dorsey has bigger problems to worry about when he faces an all Republican House next year.

Trump. Jan 6. Again today.. same people same comments. Same “insurrection” that no one was charged with.

Is there nothing else going on in the entire workd?

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

Trump has totally lost it.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

No one is going to heed that,

Sir, I am shocked that you disrespect the former president. All true republicans will heed his call !!!

Dorsey has bigger problems to worry about when he faces an all Republican House next year.

Sir, I assure you that will never happen. Even if the former guy hadn’t asked his followers not to vote, the GOP would still have lost.

Is there nothing else going on in the entire workd?

So, we shouldn't be talking about Trump suing to keep yet more things secret. Got it.

Former President Donald Trump completed several hours of questioning for a lawsuit that accuses his security guards of assaulting protesters outside Trump Tower in New York City in 2015.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

The office of the president gets to decide all of those things. Trump is no longer president.

Trump's hoping to tie it up in court and then republicans win back the House so they can stop the investigation into 1/6.

From an article on the subject by Today.Law.Harvard.edu :

"First, neither the current president nor the prior president has physical custody of the materials from the prior presidents. All of these materials are stored at the National Archives ..........If there is a request for what would otherwise be privileged material regarding a prior presidency, representatives of the prior president are supposed to consult with representatives of the current president, and then the current president decides"

"Separately, there’s a Supreme Court case called Nixon v. General Services Administration, the agency that had possession of the records of former President Nixon. Congress had passed a law to allow the GSA to seize and preserve all President Nixon’s presidential records. President Nixon sued, claiming the act was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court upheld the law and basically decided that the current president is the right person to make judgments about the assertion of executive privilege. That’s because under our system, the authority attaches to the office, not the human. President Biden has this power because he’s president, not because he’s Joe Biden. And when President Trump was in office, he had the power because he was President Trump, not because he was Donald Trump. So, I think the law is pretty well settled."

More from the same article:

"The biggest argument on the other side is that executive privilege cannot be used to hide wrongdoing. The concern would be that the privilege would be used not because you need confidential communications with the president to get the best result, but in order to hide wrongdoing at the highest levels of government. And as then-Chief Judge Patricia Wald recognized in the Espy case, that would be a misuse of the privilege.

When I was deputy chief counsel for Congress in the Iran-Contra investigation, President Reagan waived executive privilege because the issue essentially was related to whether there was wrongdoing in the White House itself. In a lot of the Clinton administration investigations, executive privilege was not asserted. To the extent it was — and I litigated executive privilege claims in the Lewinsky matter as well — we lost in district court under the theory that there was a heavy need for the information."

Former President Donald Trump on Monday sought to block the release of documents related to the Jan 6 Capitol insurrection to a congressional committee investigating the attack, challenging President Joe Biden's initial decision to waive executive privilege.

Maybe one of the Trump supporters can help us understand why Trump is hiding behind the law when he said;  "If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment," Trump said as a candidate in 2016..."The mob takes the Fifth,"

He also said this in 2018; "I would love to speak," he told reporters. "Nobody wants to speak more than me. ... I would love to speak because we've done nothing wrong."

https://edition.cnn.com/2018/05/07/politics/donald-trump-fifth-amendment-supreme-court/index.html

So why is he suing to keep public documents secret if he is innocent?

So why is he suing to keep public documents secret if he is innocent?

Trump followers will simultaneously argue all three of the following:

--Donald Trump is not corrupt. That's a liberal lie.

--And what's wrong with being corrupt if it keeps libs in their place?

--And what about Nancy Pelosi, Hunter Biden, and James Comey (the "rouge" cop). Everybody is corrupt.

Then the thread successfully gets run into the ditch.

I demand justice. This scum and those who helped him need to see the world from behind bars. If they don't there is no hope for the US. They'll just try again and again until they succeed.

I see 1 each from non Trump haters. Other 20, bashing.

One would think that there is something to be learned from that.....

Sir, I am shocked that you disrespect the former president. All true republicans will heed his call !!!

Doubt it..

Sir, I assure you that will never happen. Even if the former guy hadn’t asked his followers not to vote, the GOP would still have lost.

Mmmm…doubt it.

constant and repetitive Trump bashing

This is a news story about Trump filing a lawsuit in order to hinder an investigation into an attack on the electoral process. For his own benefit, not the country's. The same Trump who has a decades-long track record of scams and deceit. The guy who got impeached twice.

I think one would expect a fair amount of animosity toward the man.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

--Donald Trump is not corrupt. That's a liberal lie.

Not to the extent that the liberals have been feverishly trying and (failing) to prove.

--And what's wrong with being corrupt if it keeps libs in their place?

Why is it that the left never punish their own for anything? Anything at all?

--And what about Nancy Pelosi, Hunter Biden, and James Comey (the "rouge" cop). Everybody is corrupt.

True, considering how they were trying to unseat a duly elected president, the FBI? That’s as bad as it gets.

Then the thread successfully gets run into the ditch

Only when the left tries to focus on one man only and always for every little thing that goes wrong. He’s the lefts corner cushion.
