Excellent decision. Comey did not handle a number of things properly and a new director is a good idea.

Government by continuously firing people. I wonder what Comey did to get this, lying about stuff usually gets you promoted in Trump's administration.

5 ( +13 / -8 )

Is this for real? Are we just supposed to sit back and take this malfeasance? It's breath-taking. Hard to hold on to hope that our country will recover from this nightmare presidency and the GOP's willingness to level the country for the sake of their power grab.

11 ( +20 / -9 )

Firing someone that is investigating you, sound like due process in a free and democratic society, not really, strangely it sounds like a bad reality show.

22 ( +28 / -6 )

I see. Firing the policeman that is investigating you for espionage and collusion with the enemy. Effective. Not very subtle.

17 ( +25 / -8 )

Comey lost his spine, very slippery. The right thing to do.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

Awesome news. Either Chris Christie or Rudy Giuliani as new FBI Director. I love watching the Left flip out - it's so entertaining.

-20 ( +7 / -27 )

@ Wolfpack

Awesome news. Either Chris Christie or Rudy Giuliani as new FBI Director. I love watching the Left flip out - it's so entertaining.

If you think this is about left and right, imagine for a second that President Hillary Clinton would have fired the FBI director while under investigation for espionage. How would you have reacted then?

21 ( +26 / -5 )

The actual words Trump used were "You are Terminated".

Classic reality tv stuff.

And it appears no one(officials) was notified and saw it first on tv.

Classic Trump.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

About time!

-16 ( +4 / -20 )

Hmmm...... why would Trump fire Comey now after he helped Trump in the election and Trump praising him for his guts

If a Pres. Hillary would have fired him, that's kinda understandable

But the only thing Comey is doing now is investigating the alleged Russian connections and the wiretapping of Trump by Obama

Doesn't Trump realize that firing him just for doing that, would be looked at as quite questionable

The White House made the stunning announcement shortly after the FBI corrected a sentence in Comey's sworn testimony on Capitol Hill last week. Comey told lawmakers that Huma Abedin, a top aide to Hillary Clinton, had sent "hundreds and thousands" of emails to her husband's laptop, including some with classified information.

On Tuesday, the FBI said in a two-page letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee that only "a small number" of the thousands of emails found on the laptop had been forwarded there while most had simply been backed up from electronic devices. Most of the email chains on the laptop containing classified information were not the result of forwarding, the FBI said.

Wow, that's a big boo-boo

People were worried about classified information getting into the hands of Anthony Weiner, but it all turns out to be not the case at all

5 ( +8 / -3 )

Anyways, this is like Trump admitting Comey was making big mistakes, and those mistakes could include sending out the Hillary email letter to the Congress just before the Presidential election

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Reckon Trump would love to appoint himself.

Comey's no longer the man I guess.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Hope Comey takes a moment to reflect on the fact that his firing is an indirect result of him meddling in the election at the last minute and helping to hand it to Trump -- who then praised Comey very highly.

On the plus side, Comey no longer has to be so spineless and suck up to Trump, and he can let out the juicy parts he's  been hiding about Trump's involvement with Russia, etc. "Lordy!"

Burning Bush: "Just gut the whole place."

Yes, and please start with Trump himself and his entire family; the whole thing is a mess of conflicts of interest to begin with, not to mention a whole lot of stupid in the White House with them there (especially Eric).

7 ( +12 / -5 )

"Either Chris Christie or Rudy Giuliani as new FBI Director."

Sounds great and perhaps they can rename the bureau Stasi or Gestapo while they're at it.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

It will be interesting to see what happens to the FBI investigation into Russian connections to members of Trump's campaign staff. Will it stop? Will it slow down? Will it come to conclusions that are favorable to Trump?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

a) Happy he is gone. He has failed to

"support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;

Spying on Americans en masse without legal warrants isn't supporting the Constitution. When will the head of the NSA be fired too?

b) Unhappy because the true reason is as payback for tapping phones used by Mr. Trump's, before the election, unintentionally.

c) The US Govt does background checks on everyone who holds a security clearance. It is always fun to be told by former neighbors in 3 different states that 2 guys with federal badges, driving a 4dr sedan, showed up and asked questions about you. Mr. Trump should have expected that, since POTUS needs a clearance too.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

For all the Hillary haters: Will the new director arrest Hillary? Trump did promise to get Hillary busted. He has failed pretty much with all his promises like no wall and no Muslim ban. He has to do get something done.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Don't ask the wrong questions or your out.

That sounds Putin-esque. Trump seems to learning how to be an autocrat from Putin. Is the US going from a one-state party to a full on autocracy?

Will Trump now more closely follow Putin and start disappearing and dioxinating opposition? Will Trump try to seize control of media like Putin has done in Russia? Do right wing Americans really want to follow the Russian model?

6 ( +9 / -3 )

Great! Get a new director, and finally prosecute "crooked Hillary" for her Huma,Weiner,Bill and Lorreta's Fraud to the American people.

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

For all the Hillary haters: Will the new director arrest Hillary?

I hope so.

-5 ( +7 / -12 )

I hope so.

For the hating Hillary charge? Please be specific. People can't be arrested just because they are hated. I do understand that Trump followers wish Trump had dictator-like powers and deport (or worse) all the Muslims and arrest Hillary but the law does not work that way. What should Hillary be arrested for?

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Please tell me your kidding. It's not about hating Hillary. Pentagon: Hillary Clinton Should Be Arrested For Leaking Top Secret Nuclear Intelligence on National TV.

UUhh email ??

-4 ( +5 / -9 )

TBH, this is the moron who committed democratic treason with his election meddling. Now he is an enemy of the Repubs too. Needless to say, he will now find life extremely unpleasant and difficult outside of public office and it might be best for him to just leak a motherlode of info on everyone and flee the country as I doubt it's safe for him in the US anymore. He doesn't deserve sympathy from anyone

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Is this for real? Are we just supposed to sit back and take this malfeasance? It's breath-taking. Hard to hold on to hope that our country will recover from this nightmare presidency and the GOP's willingness to level the country for the sake of their power grab.

Yes. Comey was an eyesore for both parties and the DOJ he constantly and consistently besmirched and undermined the repetition of the bureau. He always went over the heads of the DOJ entity or becoming more and more concerned that you stepping out of his role essentially as a higher ranked police offer. This is not about Trump, put the partisan politics aside. The man needed to seriously go. And we need to have trust once again in the department and that can't happen as long as this guy is running the bureau. This is ALL about Comey going completely rouge and is ONLY concerned about his own ambitions, pure and simple. It's not his job to unilaterally hold press conferences on anyone without going through the DOJ and it's always their call to make, but you had an increasingly intimated DOJ that was not about to make a move against him.

Even famous attorney "Joe Digenova" could see right through Comey's motives.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Lordy, they fired him?

It is good news and bad news.

Good news, he really didn't do a good job last year with the Clinton investigations and messed up by disclosing the reopening of the investigation.

Bad news, this is obviously another attempt to stifle the Russia investigation.

Also, Trump will probably appoint another abuser of civil rights (like Sessions), and we will have another FBI led by a J. Edgar Hoover type, who said there only justice in the phrase trust and justice. So, wave bye to your civil rights, and say hello to heavy handed police tactics.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

Fires the man that helped clinch the election?

If Comey did his job, Clinton never would have made it to the election.

-11 ( +3 / -14 )

Comey came across as indecisive recently, pretty much admitting that he screwed up with Clinton without really coming out and saying it. He was weak and it's probably good that he is gone.

And I doubt Trump would be as brazen to hire someone who immediately drops the investigation into him. His base would support it for whatever reason, but other investigations in the Senate and House are going on anyway.

In the end this is most likely Trump's way of grabbing headlines. Yates pretty much laid it all out on the table and now the big question is why Trump waited so long to fire Flynn. Enter a surprise firing of Comey, and Flynn's headlines get pushed to the side.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Good news, he really didn't do a good job last year with the Clinton investigations and messed up by disclosing the reopening of the investigation.

Bad news, this is obviously another attempt to stifle the Russia investigation.

I agree, spot on. But at this point, Comey was seriously becoming a joke to everyone, playing both sides, it was enough, everyone on both sides were urging the president to get ride Comey. He was more of a liability than anything else at this point.

Wasnt it Trump himself that he wont be going after Hilary. Now when the investigation into Trumps Russia ties gets too close to home he decides to fire Comney.Trump putting up more smoke screens.

We already know the left was going to make an argument out of nothing. So far and as vigorously as they have conducted this investigation, they have found nothing at all that connects Trump to any other wrongdoing with Russia and this is been going on for the last two years. What was trump supposed to do? Keep Comey? He should've gotten rid of him a very long time ago.

-11 ( +2 / -13 )

If you wanna know more about the timing, listen to this

If you wanna know more about the timing, listen to this...

That certainly was a waste of time. Why is anyone still listening to TYT?

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

If you wanna know more about the timing, listen to this

Chenk? Seriously? That's like the far right loons listening to Alex Jones.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

So, Comey was investing something and finally gets axed. Ok, can someone please explain this Russia nonsense? Voting machines arent connect to the internet, so vote tally tampering is out. It seems to be that the majority Zionist Jew owned media is using Russia as a scape. Being Trump is super pro Israel and all... And now their fall man Comey gets axed....

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Well obviously Trump and the GOP don't care about Comey's mishandling of the Clinton case. It's kind of funny they would say that and funny that their base would repeat it.

bass: they have found nothing at all that connects Trump to any other wrongdoing with Russia

Well, the investigation is still ongoing. You rushed to convict Clinton before the investigation had concluded (based on right wing media reports) and now you are rushing to exonerate Trump before the investigation has concluded (based on right wing media reports).

Why not just settle down and wait for the professionals to release their report. I said I'd accept whatever decision the FBI made about Clinton and I'll do the same for Trump. I didn't think they had anything on her, and I don't think they have anything on Trump. But again, no reason to make your decision before the report is released and the entirety of the information is put in front of you.

And remember that a Fox News or Breitbart conviction is worthless, ok?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

And remember that a Fox News or Breitbart conviction is worthless, ok

Might as well include CNN ABC NBC, etc... they are all Zionist Jew media outlets, they love guys like Comey

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

@change Thanks for the link.

I can see why the Putin bots would try to attack the show when the speakers are saying things like "Firing Comey if you’re Donald Trump is almost admitting guilt. This is a panic firing."

Who knows what's happening in Trump's murky DC and Mar-a-Lago swamp, but there's smoke coming from it (spontaneous fire like the Cuyahoga River?) and where there's smoke... Trump may have sacked Comey, but within the FBI and other intelligence agencies there are people who know the truth about Trump's relationship with Moscow and who want that truth known and aired. Hopefully truth will come out. Hopefully some of the elected DC pols will be willing to take stands to ensure truth comes out.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Well obviously Trump and the GOP don't care about Comey's mishandling of the Clinton case. It's kind of funny they would say that and funny that their base would repeat it.

They don't care?? Where on Earth would you ever think that kind of nonsense?

Well, the investigation is still ongoing. You rushed to convict Clinton before the investigation had concluded (based on right wing media reports) and now you are rushing to exonerate Trump before the investigation has concluded (based on right wing media reports).

Im not in a rush to exonerate Trump, but everyone even Clapper and Yates who are in no way shape or form fans of Trump concluded there wasn't really anything substantially damaging or wrongdoing that Trump did. Flynn on the other hand, a completely different story.

Why not just settle down and wait for the professionals to release their report.

It's been two years and why don't I think, there is nothing else, because people like Clapper, Yates and Comey would do anything t avoid a Trump presidency and if they could have found something that would have stuck to the man in something that could have brought him down they would have done that a long time ago, of course they would have. Remember who were dealing with, we are doing with the federal government and the intelligence agency and you don't think for a second they haven't tried to find any dirt on the man?

The only good information that they have is Trump grabbing women by the......

I said I'd accept whatever decision the FBI made about Clinton and I'll do the same for Trump. I didn't think they had anything on her,

But they did and Comey even said the last straw was for him was to see Clinton and Lynch together.

and I don't think they have anything on Trump. But again, no reason to make your decision before the report is released and the entirety of the information is put in front of you.

Im not, but going by the facts so far and leaving my personal opinion on the sideline, it just doesn't look good as far as finding anything tangible that could bring the man down, which leads me to believe so far that there's nothing at all with this. Now is the Democrats want to waste your time and keep doing this for the next 4 to 8 years, then they should do that, good luck to them.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

Let's not forget that by sending the Hillary letter to Congress, Comey went against the Dept. of Justice as well as 2 long-standing policies: never publicly discuss an ongoing investigation, and never take an action affecting a candidate for office close to Election Day (especially without even knowing yet what was in the emails or if they had anything to do with the Hillary case).

And that's about what the memo the Trump White House is circulating:

But in announcing the firing, the White House circulated a scathing memo, written by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, criticizing Comey's handling of the Clinton probe, including the director's decision to hold a news conference announcing its findings and releasing "derogatory information" about Clinton.

So that's the official reason even the Trump White House is admitting was a mistake of his.

But what about the Russian connections probe and the Obama wiretap of Trump probe?

If the Hillary probe was their official reason, why wait till now to fire Comey? What's the reasoning for this timing? Why not earlier?

So, there's 2 questions that people are asking:

(1) What's the reason?

(2) Why at this time?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Guaranteed Trump puts another brown-nosing old white man who will cease Russian-ties investigations and push a pro-Trump agenda, silencing any who oppose it. Won't be long before we start seeing people who speak out suffer "mysterious deaths" like in Russia, I'd say, or just get locked up and shot with cannons, like in NK. It's already starting to happen; Trump is forcing those in his cabinet and the WH to watch FOX for 'news' instead of other news stations, and he wants to pass laws that will make it illegal to speak against him or say things that he feels are "fake news" despite them being fact.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

It's like an onion or matryoshka. Keep peeling away the layers and you'll get to the core of the matter. Don't doubt that the FBI has a file detailing the Trump junta's (alleged, natch) murky connections with Russia.

It's a damage limitation excercise on the administrations part. The truth can't be surpressed indefinitely.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Has anyone considered that that Putin never thought Trump would win the election? Putin assumed Hillary would win. Putin facilitated the release of Hillary’s emails in order to undermine her effectiveness after she was elected.

Putin wanted an ineffective U.S. president that could not thwart his imperialist objectives. Putin wanted a compromised Hillary to be elected.

If Putin had any incriminating evidence about Trump he would have it released already. Putin’s goal is not to promote one US politician or another but to incite chaos in the US political system in order to paralyze the US to counter his imperialism.

Trump obviously has no issue with confronting Putin or Assad or ISIS.

Hillary would have been Putin’s lapdog. He had dirt on her and the Clinton Foundation as did the FBI. Putin knew that. He wanted a compromised executive in the White House. He wanted HRC.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

he really think he has usa wrapped in his hand. someone needed to stop him.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Ok, can someone please explain this Russia nonsense?

Someone hacked the Democratic National Committee's email and turned over their findings to WikiLeaks who then subsequently published them. Some of those emails revealed the internal workings of the DNC as it applied to the 2016 Democratic Party primaries. Some of the emails also demonstrated collaboration between the DNC and the Clinton campaign in order to hurt Bernie Sander's campaign and improve Clinton's chances. It is alleged that some people were disturbed enough by what they learned that it influenced how they voted in the general election.

In light of what could be seen as , at the very least, an embarrassment and at the worse an unethical violation of the DNC's policy on impartiality. It was necessary to deflect attention away from the content of the emails and find something else to get the public to focus on. It's always good to have a recognizable boogeyman to point at and what boogeyman is more recognizable than Putin and the Russians.

All the leaked emails did was expose to the public, the inner workings of the DNC and its collusion with the Clinton campaign. Nobody has come forward to discredit or deny any of information revealed in the emails, so it appears to be accurate and even if the Russians were behind the hack, it doesn't change the content of the emails. Would it have been better if the public was left in the dark about the sleaze going on at the DNC and how Hillary's campaign colluded with them to influence the election?

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Trump desperate as Comey gets closer and closer to discovering Trump's Russian links.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Whatever I might think about the FBI Director Comey it was a very strange way to fire him. Sitting before congress when he's handed a note, which he reads out, "I've been fired!" No call back to the office, no private discussions, no explanations, "Just, you are fired!" Bad form.

If Comey can surprise both parties with with his surprised hearings, he shouldn't be surprised the president could possibly do the same. Comey has no one else to blame but himself. Trump should have fired him sooner.

Guaranteed Trump puts another brown-nosing old white man who will cease Russian-ties investigations and push a pro-Trump agenda, silencing any who oppose it.

So now it's important to put a person of color instead of a person that is qualified to that vacant position? Amazing!

Reading too many novels? No one is going to go missing and how do you know Trump is forcing people to watch one network? Can we verify this sources?

-16 ( +0 / -16 )

Trump obviously has no issue with confronting Putin or Assad or ISIS.

lol Oh, really? What do you base that off of? Trump launching a couple of cruise missiles at a Syrian base? Russia knew about it in advance. No Russian troops were injured in the "attack." How exactly has he confronted Russia? He certainly didn't have anything to say about Russia again interfering in the French elections.

If Putin had any incriminating evidence about Trump he would have it released already. Putin’s goal is not to promote one US politician or another but to incite chaos in the US political system in order to paralyze the US to counter his imperialism.

Again, this does not square with anything that has been released to the public. If Putin had information on Trump, why would he release it? Kind of hard to blackmail someone with public information.

He wanted a compromised executive in the White House. He wanted HRC.

Ah, so that's why he hacked and then released the DNC's emails? Got it.

While Comey's actions are certainly questionable, Trump's actions do not square with past statements. Trump has already said the Clinton's had suffered enough, so he would not be pursuing the case against her anymore. Now, he has fired Comey for not going after Clinton.

It seems to me that there is more information about to be coming out, and Trump is merely out to discredit US intelligence, and to create a diversion.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Comey will take out those responsible for his faith in years to come. Just image the network of honest people in the correct position Comey can call on to cause people grief. No one sack the head of the FBI. They resign. They say when they are going, and it because of the power they built while climbing to the top. You will see pay back in some form.

Not so much surprised by the so-called president's move (though somewhat delighted I have to admit) as by the breathtaking hypocrisy of the trump supporters/Obama critics. Heretofore I always attributed to them some small measure of country before party (?)/ Trump à la McCain. Now...

2 ( +3 / -1 )

lol Oh, really? What do you base that off of? Trump launching a couple of cruise missiles at a Syrian base?

That was a very good thing.

Russia knew about it in advance. No Russian troops were injured in the "attack." How exactly has he confronted Russia?

How do you know Russian soldiers weren't issued? How do you know what the two nations were saying behind closed doors? Careful with accusations.

He certainly didn't have anything to say about Russia again interfering in the French elections.

I think he has more serious things on his plate than worrying about the French elections.

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

..."Mr. Comey usefulness is past long, yes.

Dimitri, call comred Trump and tell him to fire this man... "

... or so was heard from the Kremlin before Comey got the boot. da?

4 ( +6 / -2 )

That was a very good thing.

Was it? What did it accomplish?

How do you know Russian soldiers weren't issued? How do you know what the two nations were saying behind closed doors? Careful with accusations.

Oh, I don't know, cuz the pentagon press sec. said so? Careful with accusations of accusations, bass.

I think he has more serious things on his plate than worrying about the French elections.

Like? Another round of golf? Finding a lapdog to replace Comey? If interfering in yet another election isn't "serious" to you, I'm not sure what is.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

It's not about hating Hillary

Of course it is. It's about hating Hillary simply. Or hating Obama because thinking he was born in Kenya.

UUhh email ??

And the several secretaries of state who did the same thing with email carelessness. It was a security policy problem. More proof that it was simply about hating Hillary. If you want to go after Hillary then many more people (including secretaries of state) will have to get in line too to get busted-- including Powell.

And speaking of secrets. Trump discussed a top secret video out in the open in his Florida resort instead of going to a secluded area with his staff. That was on national TV. Trump should be busted then. More and more proof that it's just hatred for Hillary and that she would be a better president. Trump can't even fill in 400 important positions for his staff. No wall, no Muslim ban, 100% failure. It shows he is a bad president. He can't even get Hillary arrested which was one of his important promises.

Flynn on the other hand, a completely different story.

yes, and Trump hired him

If Comey did his job, Clinton never would have made it to the election.

What job is that?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Was it? What did it accomplish?

That our enemies, Assad, the Russians, Iranians, Chinese and North Koreans now know that they just go around expect a non-response if they engage in terrorizing and murdering innocent women and children or perusing nukes.

Oh, I don't know, cuz the pentagon press sec. said so? Careful with accusations of accusations, bass.

Ahhhh, so now all of a sudden to the left, in this case Spicer becomes an incredible source for information? You guys, keep trying, that gold nugget ain't fer.

Like? Another round of golf? Finding a lapdog to replace Comey? If interfering in yet another election isn't "serious" to you, I'm not sure what is.

Nothing wrong with Golf, he's got enough people in his cabinet to help out, also, presidents do carry cell phones. As far as lapdog, Dems hated Comey when he opened an investigation on Hillary, but were happy when he decided not to indite her, then when Comey turned and started an investigation if there were any Trump ties to Russia, Dems praised Trump, then he came out with that bombshell about Hillary and the Dems hated him again. Now Trump got rid of Comey and now Dems are complaining again?? As I always say, Dems will never get voted back into anything again, if they keep acting like whiny children. Both Dems and the GOP should be happy he's gone. He caused both sides a lot of grief. Trump should've fired him as soon as he got into office.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

he's got enough people in his cabinet to help out

What is he done other than try (and fail) to actually get anything done.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

@Bass:

Can you prove that? Its easy to say, "we've shown our enemies this or that," but actually try and quantify that.

Sean Spicer isn't the Pentagon Press sec. Nice try though.

As for golf: Sure, there may not be anything wrong with, hut that's not what Trump said wbout Obama golfing now is it? Are there one set of rules for Trump and another for everyone else?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Sean Spicer isn't the Pentagon Press sec. Nice try though.

So which one then?

As for golf: Sure, there may not be anything wrong with, hut that's not what Trump said wbout Obama golfing now is it?

Who cares? As long as he's doing something and he did something that was very much needed today.

Are there one set of rules for Trump and another for everyone else?

Did you ask that same question about the last administration?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Comey was playing both sides against the middle and no one was going to be happy with that indefinitely. He was in so deep with the enemy and coverups that he just kept doubling down and then it got so obvious Trump had to call his hand and send him home. I realized something was coming when he couldn't even explain in Congressional testimony whether there was a law against Anthony Weiner having confidential documents on his laptop.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Ah, so that's why he hacked and then released the DNC's emails? Got it.

Ah, Assange released emails, not Putin. Got it?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Ah, Assange released emails, not Putin. Got it?

Yes, after Putin's lackey's handed them to him. Assange and wikileaks are just another Kremlin tool. And what a tool Assange is....

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@Lizz He was in so deep with the enemy ...

Bit confused. By 'enemy' do you mean Russia? Terrorists? I live in Japan but know the US is divided and have heard there's great tension among different factions. I just hope you're not saying those who disagree with the president are the enemy. I'm aware Republicans by using redistricting and other political means are pushing for a one-party state, but calling those Americans with different perspectives enemy seems extreme. Unless you're using that term in an attempt to throw more fuel on the fire and ramp up the tension. If so, then I think you're helping Russians and terrorists.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Yes, after Putin's lackey's handed them to him. Assange and wikileaks are just another Kremlin tool. And what a tool Assange is....

Can you prove it?

I'm aware Republicans by using redistricting and other political means are pushing for a one-party state,

Do you feel that way in 2008?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

That our enemies, Assad, the Russians, Iranians, Chinese and North Koreans now know that they just go around expect a non-response if they engage in terrorizing and murdering innocent women and children or perusing nukes.

If you say so.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Do you feel that way in 2008?

No. Some Republicans privately want Trump out because they think he is unstable (and he is unstable). He could be impeached. He might not last. The way he is insulting the balances of power like making personal insults to judges. Obama never did that. GWB even respected a court decision that went against the White House. He hasn't filled around 400 positions and puts his kids in legal power. That's the beginning of a family empire. So what's going on with Trump's Muslim ban? And how about the wall? 100% pure failures.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It's kinda funny that Trump agreed with his Dept. of Justice wanting Comey fired for going against the DOJ in his handling of the Hillary case - when back in 2016 then-candidate Trump praised Comey for going against the DOJ in his handling of the Hillary case.

So basically Trump is acquiescing that Comey shouldn't have done what he had done

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The Hillary excuse is just something right wingers can say on TV and to each other. But obviously everyone outside of the bubble will roll their eyes and laugh.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Funny how all the Democrats wanted Comey's head 6 months ago, but now that Trump took him out, he's the best lawman since Wyatt Earp.

Who is surprised the democrats are outraged? Fire him! - Outrage. Don't fire him! - Outrage. Do nothing! - outrage. Do something! - outrage.

How many times can they cry wolf and still get a reaction? Just weeks ago Chuck Schumer said he has lost all confidence in director Comey. He now wants investigation!!?? Hypocritical much?

They have been accusing him of this for months now. There is still zero evidence to support any of the claims.

The Hillary excuse is just something right wingers can say on TV and to each other. But obviously everyone outside of the bubble will roll their eyes and laugh.

Did the Russians feed Hillary questions that would come up in debates? Did the Russians tell Hillary not to go to Wisconsin, Michigan? Did the Russians influence the unpopular message of carrying on Obama's failed policies? Did the Russians marginalize Bernie Sanders?

Funny how all the Democrats wanted Comey's head 6 months ago, but now that Trump took him out, he's the best lawman since Wyatt Earp.

Funny how Trump thought Comey was fantastic 6 months ago but has just "terminated" him.

The Hillary excuse is just something right wingers can say on TV and to each other.

Excuse? Even Comey knew it wasn't an excuse, but if you want to dismiss the WikiLeaks cables as being some manufactured propaganda garbage dreamt up in some Russian countryside, be my guest. ROFL

But obviously, everyone outside of the bubble will roll their eyes and laugh.

Exactly, and that's why the Democratic party is not being taken seriously these days.

Funny how Trump thought Comey was fantastic 6 months ago but has just "terminated" him.

Same goes for the Dems how they praised Comey when he launched that Russian probe, but then excoriated him when revealed all the shenanigans Hillary was up to.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Trump's action is more telling of him hiding something. He's doing everything he can to shield himself from the Russian investigation. Action speak louder than words.

If Trump is trying to cover up anything, then making a public spectacle of firing the FBI Director is a very clever way to go about it.

Comey’s credibility was tainted enough that whatever he announced at the end of the probe would have been doubted. Comey has always been most concerned with the politics of his own reputation, as his actions have repeatedly illustrated.

This confirms that Trump is in cahoots with Russia.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

So which one then?

The one I said reported. Reread my original comment or look it up on google yourself. I said pentagon press secretary. Not Whitehouse press secretary. Learn to read and them comment, lawd.

Ah, Assange released emails, not Putin. Got it?

It'd be incredibly naïve to think that Assange is somehow capable of hacking all of these emails etc. all on his own. He is not acting alone, and with the absence of negative information regarding the Russian government- we can all draw our own conclusions. Got it?

Also, just something else to throw out there: Why was Jefferson Beauregard Sessions involved in the firing of Comey? After being caught lying about meeting with the Russian Ambassador, I thought he recused himself from the Russia investigations. Rather odd that he got involved. hmmmm...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Obviously Trump didn't fire Comey because of what he did to Clinton. That was before the election so any talk of that being the catalyst is obviously bubble nonsense. I mean even on a very basic level of understanding, politics aside, it's impossible for someone to actually believe that because it's just so illogical. Anyone promoting that point of view falls into two categories: People who don't keep up with politics and don't know much about what's going on (just repeating what they heard), or people who try to manipulate those people.

When the GOP and the right wing media presented this manufactured narrative, their base should have had the brains and the balls to stand up and tell them that that answer doesn't make any sense. And as long as they refuse to do that, we're going to get a President and a GOP party that will feel very comfortable giving the same nonsense over again.

Stand up for yourselves for once.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Chuck Schumer is dirty. People like him are dirty. Comey was dirty. Schumer wants a special prosecutor because he knows that his dirty buddy is now out, and cannot stop investigations against Hillary, DNC, Pedogate, UraniumOne, etc.

So, his only move is to hope that he and his dirty colleagues can get one of their dirty buddies in as a special prosecutor, to stop any real investigation that way.

A couple of facts:

(1) Dems are claiming that the TIMING of firing Comey is suspicious because "Comey was going to testify before Congress in just two days!" That's true, but they are trying to make it sound like maybe Comey would have some dirt on Trump so Trump fired him. Nope. Comey, and ALL OTHER HEADS of various departments, were/are going to testify about their BUDGETS, so that Congress can figure out what to budget for next year. It was a BUDGET hearing, which is done each year.

(2) The reason for the firing NOW is because Attorney General Sessions has recused himself from any Trump investigation, since he is part of the administration. So, the DOJ has a new guy, who was just confirmed by the Senate 94-6 two weeks ago, and THAT guy started investigating the various investigations, and determined that Comey is OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE, by refusing to investigation Democrats, while letting a bogus "investigation" continue on Trump so the media can play it to help Dems. That is the real reason of the firing -- Comey was blocking real investigations. Dems WANT that, and with Comey gone, they can only hope for a special prosecutor that is one of them (they don't have any other hope).

So, Dems are once again lying their asses off on TV to push propaganda at the American people.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Hell of a way to thank the guy that got you in office.

And I imagine Trump himself wants the post. Until, that is, he figures out that it doesn't in fact mean Female Body Inspector. Poof, dreams of grabbing all that pu$$y quickly fade away. And now on to the next bit of business, making Lisa Simpson's vision come true.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The one I said reported. Reread my original comment or look it up on google yourself. I said pentagon press secretary. Not Whitehouse press secretary. Learn to read and them comment, lawd.

I did, it's just the left usually are incoherent when it comes to rationality.

Ah, Assange released emails, not Putin. Got it?

Through Wikileaks, yes,

It'd be incredibly naïve to think that Assange is somehow capable of hacking all of these emails etc. all on his own. He is not acting alone, and with the absence of negative information regarding the Russian government- we can all draw our own conclusions. Got it?

People can believe in whatever they want to, some people believe in Santa Claus as well.

Also, just something else to throw out there: Why was Jefferson Beauregard Sessions involved in the firing of Comey? After being caught lying about meeting with the Russian Ambassador, I thought he recused himself from the Russia investigations. Rather odd that he got involved. hmmmm...

Oliver Stone revisited. LOL

When the GOP and the right wing media presented this manufactured narrative, their base should have had the brains and the balls to stand up and tell them that that answer doesn't make any sense.

To a point, probably, but at the same time, Comey was becoming a huge liability to both sides and both sides expressed fear and concern as to how much they feared Comey. The man was just power hungry and it showed especially when he took it upon himself to interject himself every time in all of this mess.

And as long as they refuse to do that, we're going to get a President and a GOP party that will feel very comfortable giving the same nonsense over again.

Oh, please! It's more like, the whiny Dems once again are angry because things are not going the way THEY want it. I mean, they seemed very uneasy when the GOP asked Loretta Lynch to withdraw herself from the Clinton probe after Bill and she were caught on the tarmac discussing their grandchildren, that has to be my favorite comment of the year!

What happens is that you are given your talking points by the politicians and right wing media, then you come here to repeat them, but we aren't bound by your self-imposed gag order so we tend to ask questions and point out illogical statements.

Then eople such as yourself are pretty much thrown to the wolves on messages boards where we ask the questions you should have asked in the first place, but didn't have the courage to. When you are questioned you throw out equally nonsensical satatements like, "he was power hungry" which you obviously made up on the spot since you have nothing else to say and don't want to look stupid.

It's that kind of weakness that emboldens people like Priebus to say that a $900 billion cut to Medicaid won't cut coverage or services. A rational person would raise their hand and ask how that would make sense, but a very submissive GOP base member just nods and says OK. That's why he goes on TV and says things like that. You'd rather bend over and let the GOP politicians have their way with you rather than stand up for yourself.

I'm not thrown by anything, sorry. The problem is, the far, far, far, far left are still beside themselves, with No way proof, facts or anything in their arsenal to unseat this guy and Comey was the last shot, the same person you guys at one point hated because he was in the bag for Trump and then when he opened the Russian investigation on Trump you guys were ecstatic and now the same goes for the right. I don't mind the investigation, bring it on. Clapper and Yates and even Brennan (No fans of Trump) have all concluded they couldn't find ANY evidence of Trump colluding with the Russians and even with the Russians fiddling around in our elections, there is no way they could have flipped millions of people in Wisconson, Michigan and Pennsylvania, impossible, thank Hillary for that.

No, I'm just not blinded by the facts or reality and this is the best thing for both parties and the country. Good on Trump for making this decision. Comey needed to go.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Looks bad. Even though both parties dislike this guy the timing is awful and it really does look like a cover up. I would imagine we will eventually find out what is behind this and I bet it is going to be really interesting!

Why do I say? These days absolutely nothing is that simple. Things are in fact really, really weird.

What is interesting is Rod Rosenstein, an Obama supporter and appointee made the original recommendation to Jeff Sessions that Comey be dismissed. As part of the recommendation Rosenstein wrote,  “I cannot defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken.”

Although Comey was obviously unfit (many Clinton supporters on this web-site comment board were calling for his head) this rash decision by Trump is foolish. Did Comey have something on him? Or if not him some of his staff? We may end up finding out after all.

Just when you things cannot get any stranger - they do!

I agree, the timing is bad, but to be brutally honest, it wouldn't have mattered either way when Trump would have fired him. Before, in the middle or after, the Dems still would have cried foul.

What is interesting is Rod Rosenstein, an Obama supporter and appointee made the original recommendation to Jeff Sessions that Comey be dismissed.

Rosenstein had these feelings about Comey for a very long time.

As part of the recommendation Rosenstein wrote,  “I cannot defend the director’s handling of the conclusion of the investigation of Secretary Clinton’s emails and I do not understand his refusal to accept the nearly universal judgment that he was mistaken.”

That was the huge letdown for many in the department that they couldn't understand Comey's strange decision and as a result, there were a few agents that resigned over this in protest and disgust because they felt the organization wasn't doing its job and all ethics went out the window.

No, my gripe with Dems is, the election is over, get over it and Trump did a good thing giving Comey his walking papers, better for everyone.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

If you think this is about left and right, imagine for a second that President Hillary Clinton would have fired the FBI director while under investigation for espionage. How would you have reacted then?

Spot on. And this is why Americans have the leaders they deserve. Leaders who are devoid of principle but who are constantly outraged about the lack of principles in their opponents. Like most of the voters, their ethics are entirely flexible, with no consistency other than in supporting their faction or lining their pockets.

I don't see people waking up any time soon, sadly. They'll just turn more against each other while the politicians fleece them.

Last week Democrats were whallowing in their disdain for the mysogist who torpedoed Hillary's all but certain victory. This week the Dems are up in arms over the unjustice that was done because of the hated mans dismissal. Dems are so bent out of shape by Trump that they have been reduced to grabbing onto every bit of news to wring the maximum partisan advantage from it before that view is discarded for an opposite argument that best suits any advantage to be gained during the next news cycle. The rhetorical whiplash is a sight to behold.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

It certainly is a sight to behold. The beginning of the end of the end of Trump. Watch this space.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Last week Democrats were whallowing in their disdain for the mysogist who torpedoed Hillary's all but certain victory. This week the Dems are up in arms over the unjustice that was done because of the hated mans dismissal.

Exactly. Because Democrats respect a free country, not one run by a dictator. While they were unhappy with how Comey proceeded, they understood that he was doing his job, and there were almost no calls for him to be removed.

Trump on the other hand is looking to remove someone who was a threat to him. He's placing self over country. And that should be offensive/scary to everyone in the country, not as a partisan issue.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Imagine that Hillary won, and imagine Comey investigating her, then imagine some big news is released about the investigation months later, then she fires him for his actions before the election.

To believe the GOP's position now, you'd have to believe the GOP's response to the above would be one of support.

Clearly insane, right? I mean not really even something from this planet.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I don't think anyone expected Trump NOT to do this. I am not blowing up about it. So put me down for "outrage times one half" but not "shock." And maybe this is the wrong time, place and occasion to say this, but ... I think the US needs a better FBI. It is not a criticism. It is an observation.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Exactly. Because Democrats respect a free country, not one run by a dictator.

As long as they can tell you what to do, what to eat, how to live your life and making sure you abide by the only sacred rule of living as a progressive.

While they were unhappy with how Comey proceeded, they understood that he was doing his job, and there were almost no calls for him to be removed.

So wait, he wasn't doing his job when he launched that deep investigation about her emails? Last week, Hillary was moaning about how she (chuckle) would have won, had it NOT been for Comey, yeah.....

Anyway, I don't think Hillary is missing Comey anytime soon.

Oh, and don't worry, although Comey is not there, that doesn't mean, the investigation is over, while Trump did the right thing, everything else is going to proceed as usual.

Trump on the other hand is looking to remove someone who was a threat to him.

Can your prove he's thinking that?

He's placing self over country. And that should be offensive/scary to everyone in the country, not as a partisan issue.

Ah, like that deja vu feeling we all felt 8 years ago.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

"And now, the end is near, and so I face, the final curtain..."

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Comey's incompetence and lack of following procedures was the reason Hillary isnt President (according to her). Dems and the media were screaming for him to be fired. Trump now agrees that Comey is incompetent and fires him. Now everyone on the Dem side and liberal media is mad?

Also he was not pushing the FBI to investigate the leakers and was not providing requested documents in a timely manner. He was also giving inaccurate information in his testimony, as well as discussing some things he shouldnt while refusing to talk of others. Why shouldnt he be fired again?

Its not like HE is personally investigating anything anyway, every time he talks he just confuses things further. The investigation will continue with no change whatsoever now that he is gone. It might get done quicker if his replacement actually provides what he is asked to and answers some questions.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Dems and the media were screaming for him to be fired. Trump now agrees that Comey is incompetent and fires him. Now everyone on the Dem side and liberal media is mad?

This is the part where you need to stand up to the person feeding you this crap and say, "Wait, that doesn't make sense because of the timing". But you don't. You just come here and repeat something you should have the intelligence to know is illogical.

That's why GOP politicians gets away with this nonsense. Their base just rolls over so easily.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

So the Dems didnt want him fired last week? Hillary didnt blame his incompetence for her loss last week? Trump listened to their cries of injustice and fired the guy. Reference the Stephen Colbert TV show. He announced Comey was fired, the liberals in the audience applauded. Then Colbert called his own audience Trump supporters (they arent) to cover it up and then had to explain to them why they werent supposed to be happy about it.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Also, no reason is even required for the firing. The President can fire the FBI Director at his pleasure. So he did, end of story. Elections have consequences, wasnt that what Obama said?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Blacklabel Today  03:54 pm JST

So the Dems didnt want him fired last week? Hillary didnt blame his incompetence for her loss last week? Trump listened to their cries of injustice and fired the guy.

What, after declaring that Comey's re-opening the investigation into Clinton's emails before the election had restored his reputation?

How likely do you really think that is?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

It doesnt matter because no reason is even required. My personal opinion is that Trump said that when he had the intention of giving Comey one more chance. But when he kept screwing up, he had to go. Then of course the previous things he did prior to being given another chance came out again as part of the reason.

Same as how people get fired at work. You screw up, they usually give you one more chance with encouragement to improve. But then you screw up again, you get fired. Then the reason for firing is that you did A, were given a second chance, but then did B. It is never just that you did B.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Its not like HE is personally investigating anything anyway

That's probably true, but as the director of his agency he was (hopefully) having his employees conduct an investigation. From what's been reported, it seems clear to me there are reasons for the intelligence agencies to look closely into what connections Trump and his appointees had with Russians before and during the election and what role the Russians might have had with regard to trying to influence the election.

If Russia does have media outlets and paid employees spreading fake news in attempts to undermine US institutions, that should also be investigated.

Trump loyalists might not want the truth to come out, but I think most Americans do. And remember, it was a minority of American voters who elected him.

If Trump appoints another sycophant or family member to replace Comey and the investigations into Russian connections stop, it's going to be hard to think Trump, Tillerson, Flynn, etal have not had questionable - at best - Russian connections.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Also, no reason is even required for the firing. The President can fire the FBI Director at his pleasure. So he did, end of story.

It's not the end of story if there's an ulterior motive behind it - that's what people are trying to find out. It's not the official reason that matters but the real reason (even Nixon had an official reason and a real reason). Is it really because Comey was going against the DOJ (but then, Trump praised Comey for doing exactly that just last year)....... or maybe something else we don't know yet................

Trump has already sicced Congress to investigate election fraud and Obama's wiretap - what's one more to investigate

3 ( +3 / -0 )

NO reason matters, because none is required. But I know what you are saying, for optics there should be a reason and if a reason is actually given it should be something that makes sense. Strange timing on this, but Hillary and others kept bringing it up over and over how bad of a job he did, so whatever.

As far as the investigations, generally it is that evidence exists and then something is investigated. For example, it became known Hillary had her own email server then an investigation began. People got killed in Benghazi, so it was investigated. In this Russia case however, there is an investigation to try to find evidence of collusion to support an investigation that already started based on speculation and innuendo. James Clapper last week said he isnt aware of enough evidence to even open an investigation much less to find anyone guilty.

If the Dems keep insisting on a special committee about Russia, then do it. But also have them open one on Hillary's handling of classified information. Comey obviously protected her on that one, so we need to revisit that one with a fresh set of competent eyes too. There is nothing in the law that says anything about intent, if classified emails were sent and stored on personal servers or devices (which has been proven, unlike Russia) that is obviously a felony.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

NBC has already shown, with public records, how Russians gave Trump over 100 million dollars, and maybe much more than that, through highly bogus real estate deals.

Yates, acting head of the Dept. of Justice, goes to the White House to warn them about a possible spy in their midst, and she is fired.

Comey asks the man who Trump replaced Yates with for more money for the Trump/Russia investigation, and Trump tells the fellow to come up with reasons that he can use to fire Comey.

Like with Nixon, Trump may be brought down by his misconduct in trying to avoid an investigation. At this point, he probably figures he has nothing to lose by getting caught trying to avoid an investigation, because if the investigation goes forward, he might lose everything.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Exactly. Because Democrats respect a free country

hahaha this is why Bernie supporters are suing the DNC for bilking them of their money for fixing the Dem primaries? for freedom right? haha

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump loyalists might not want the truth to come out, but I think most Americans do.

Most Trump voters know exactly what this is and that’s another and constant 2-year witch hunt. Everyone wants to know the truth, but we’re not stupid to believe the media hook, line and sinker, because we know 90% of the liberal controlled MSM hates the man, so we know there is pretty much No balance and all left wing talking points, sure, you have idiots on the right as well, but on the left, it’s just more dismay and whiny rhetoric that the left are still stewing over last Novembers elections results.

And remember, it was a minority of American voters who elected him.

Yeah, California and all the coastal areas and the Dems lost over 1000 legislative seats, minority? Yeah, sure.

If Trump appoints another sycophant or family member to replace Comey and the investigations into Russian connections stop, it's going to be hard to think Trump, Tillerson, Flynn, etal have not had questionable - at best - Russian connections.

I’m sure the media will do what they always do when it comes to the president and try to spin it as much as they possibly can in the hopes trying to nail this man, whatever can stick, just do it.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Most Trump voters know exactly what this is and that’s another and constant 2-year witch hunt.

Well, it's not surprising the right would think that. Human nature is to see things in terms of our own actions. We see things and we frame them in terms of what we would do in such a situation, and evaluate what is happening based on what we've done in the past. A wife beater who sees a couple arguing, is going to think she did something wrong. A thief who sees someone putting something in their pocket in a store is going to think the person is stealing it. A drug addict who sees two people talking in a suspicious manner on the street is going to think they are doing a drug deal.

And a party that goes on witch hunts when they are the opposition is going to see the other party as being on a witch hunt when that other party criticizes the actions of their leader. It's in their nature. They can only see the actions in others in terms of their own actions.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Gosh, if only the left would understand that critical point.

A wife beater who sees a couple arguing, is going to think she did something wrong. A thief who sees someone putting something in their pocket in a store is going to think the person is stealing it. A drug addict who sees two people talking in a suspicious manner on the street is going to think they are doing a drug deal.

In other words, you are saying, people that do bad things have every right to prejudge based on their own flaws.

And a party that goes on witch hunts when they are the opposition is going to see the other party as being on a witch hunt when that other party criticizes the actions of their leader. It's in their nature. They can only see the actions in others in terms of their own actions.

So then the last 8 years the left finally learned the error of their wicked ways? Personally, I don't think so, the hemorrhaging on the left still continues.

Committed to spoiling any prosecution of Clinton and Obama because Obama was absolutely linked and knew Hillary was a security disaster- the last minute email discovery thing was just way for Comey to try get Trump onside. The Russian investigation will continue without him. I don't really understand it because there obvious foreign power influence into US politics before with the big NGOs who have doubtless have links overseas- they fawn over China- BS Green state it does nothing meaningful in regard their nonsense standards- builds about 100 coal power stations. So why the fuss over Russia who efforts were pretty pathetic.
