Good riddance to that piece of garbage. All he ever accomplishes is an escalation in hostilities with no endgame.
Simon Foston
Hah - so much for "John Bolton... the man... the legend..." One decision of Trump's I do agree with. I would also have agreed with never appointing Bolton to any position in the first place.
Strangerland
Trumps national security advisors are now wondering if the should start sleeping with him, since he seems to keep mistresses longer than security advisors. And it pays better in the long run too!
(the sad thing is that only one part of that joke is made up)
Yubaru
Let's get the lingo correct here, forcing someone out, to the average reader, sounds as if Bolton had the higher hand to play.
Trump fired him, plain and simple. In the lingo of America, the president either asks for your resignation but typically tells them, "you aren't needed" and people hand in their resignations.
It's Trump's prerogative to do this, yet is it the wise thing to do?
Chip Star
The ever revolving door of this flaming clown car of an administration just keeps spinning.
I cant wait to hear from Trumpophiles that used to say (before Donny fired him) that Bolton was exactly what we needed, etc. should be fun to watch them do a screeching 180 to keep up with Donny.
CrazyJoe
If Bolton was too moral for this idiot, we're in big trouble.
I'm worried about the next despicable wretch lined up to replace him...
Jimizo
Great to see Bolton out. A deplorable.
Who’s next in line? Barron?
gokai_wo_maneku
Trump says he fired Bolton. Bolton says he resigned. Is the USA now a place where both of these are true at the same time?
PTownsend
Good to see career swampman Bolton gone. But no doubt he'll remain in the swamp in some other capacity, just like Mattis and Kelly.
The swamp's huge, even larger and deeper since Trump took over. No doubt Trump, maybe Little Stephen Miller because Trump's too busy playing golf and tweeting, will find a replacement as despicable as Bolton
Chip Star
Uhhh . . . You must have missed the part where Donny appointed Bolton. You are far, far too transparent.
darknuts
If Bolton was too moral for this idiot, we're in big trouble.
Moral? If knew anything about Trump's foreign policy, you'd have seen this comming. Bolton was hell bent on war with Iran. Trump's plan was always negotiation. Even Trump haters have to agree this was a good move.
CrazyJoe
Now we need to fire the clown who hired Bolton.
Chip Star
If Donny had a coherent foreign policy, we could "know" something about it.
Of course us rational adults (what you label as Trump haters) agree this was a good move. That, however, does nothing to negate that Donny appointed Bolton and that this administration goes through people like a pothead through Frosted Flakes.
Laguna
Whatever happened to that "best people" thing?
JCosplay
Well as someone who has really been waning on Trump, (at least as of late) let me just say that I still agree with this. I mean I would have always agreed with this, I can’t stand this Bolton guy, but even more so now.
And to answer the concerns of some people posting above, what Trump is essentially doing is undoing his initial mistakes. And boy was it ever a big one by appointing Bolton. But thank God he got rid of him. Seriously, thank God.
Chip Star
Imagine how many of Donny's mistakes would never have happened had he approached things in a competent manner.

The battle of moronic policies.
The question isn't which one was better, it was which one was less bad.

Trumpers yesterday: Bolton is one of the most experienced, trusted, and capable National Security Advisers ever.....the "Best"....
Trumpers today: He was a disaster! A worthless skunk! A Hillary supporter! The "Worst"....

I'm going to hire the best..............!!!

The proposed Taliban picnic was probably the last straw. Bolton would have gone ballistic. Good riddance.
Now, let the public oust the shameless sharpie in 2020.

Trump ousts hawkish Bolton, dissenter on foreign policy
Nice to have some good morning news for a change...
bass4funk
Always admired and been a fan of Bolton, good man, patriot, loves is country hate to see him go, but they both had very different political opinions when it came to Afghanistan, North Korea, and Valenzuela, I think Trump made a mistake on this one, but others don’t. Some people are happy with his ouster, others not. He serves at the pleasure of the president and apparently they couldn’t see eye to eye and it was time to part ways. The haters of Bolton should praising the President for this news. Thank you for your service Mr. Bolton.
Serrano
I told you guys Trump had him on a short leash all along.
The ever revolving door of this flaming clown car of an administration just keeps spinning.
So it would be better to keep him on? Which is it, Chip?
Serrano
I like how Trump has so far averted a war with Iran or North Korea.
Anyone else? Anyone else at all?

I'm worried about the next despicable wretch lined up to replace him...
How about Chuck Norris?

Trump says he fired Bolton. Bolton says he resigned. Is the USA now a place where both of these are true at the same time?
Let’s face it, Trump lies ALL the time. Bolton probably only lies SOME of the time. I go with Bolton’s version of events.
TheRat
Ahh.....Trump didn't like Bolton's objection to his lovefest with the TALIBAN on 9-11 at Camp David. No one objects to DEAR LEADER. I mean this gets more and more surreal. Inviting the taliban on 9-11??? But to our conservative posters, this is BRILLIANT. And thing is....little known fact....Trump continued discussions with the Taliban after they killed 10 people and one American soldier. Trying to keep it going, see, whereby they sign another bogus peace treaty, and he gets to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and be on Time Magazine. And Bolton, who like the OTHERS, found a way out of doing his service to his country (bonespurs?) is more than happy with bombing, and bombing and bombing, no matter how many women and children are killed. "Thank you for your service Mr. Bolton" (from Bass4funk)---what sheer nonsense!!! What service, counseling war, war, war, as if America hasn't had enough of it, and where has war gotten us? 12 years in Afghanistan, more bombs used than in WWII, and still the Taliban run 40% of the country!!!! Which is why we are at the peace table. "Thank you for your service," WHAT A JOKE!!! And these conservative posters, because they can never ever criticize dear leader (God, what they would have done to this man had he been a democrat!!!), is to rationalize the 9-11 Taliban love fest. Too comical.
lincolnman
????? He was an original NEOCON which you have savaged as "RINOs" in the past, and was the architect of the Iraq War which you've said was a huge mistake...
So, was he fired or did he resign?
bass4funk
Yes, but I still respect the man. Lincoln, I don’t live with rage and anger like some people, I have a great life, money and I can respect a person, but disagree with them on certain issues. He (Bolton) is someone I always respected despite the ups and downs of the Iraq war.
To a certain degree it was.
How would I know or anyone really know. I wasn’t in the room.

Trump finally got tired of Bolton's walrus mustache !
Poor guy won't get his war in Iran... yet.
bass4funk
That’s your opinion, I don’t think it’s nonsense. I can disagree with the man and his policies and still respect the man, I don’t have hate or anger or get emotionally involved, i just stated how I personally feel about the man. This is the problem liberals have, they invest too much emotion in everything, clouds the judgement. I don’t like Bill Krystol who’s also a neocon, but for other reasons it just depends on individual.
Relax.
It depends.
JeffLee
Any move to that puts behind us the globalist, neo-lib legacy of the disaster known as the Bush administration has gotta be progress.
Yeah, no more dangerous, pointless, badly executed and expensive wars!
SuperLib
Perhaps this will give Trump a chance to reverse some of his positions since he can just blame Bolton. Here's to hoping.
SuperLib
Carlson and Hannity will be on soon to give Trump fans their talking points.
PTownsend
No doubt, maybe Limbaugh, Coulter, or one of the others they parrot. Early indications from one member of the global alt right is they want Chuck Norris, whose cheesecakes remind them of their hero Putin. Stud hee hee
sunfunbun
Bolton is a hypocrite and a coward...advocating more military and raising of force and being known as the 'architect' of the disaster of the Iraq war, where his views failed to understand there was no way out, once attacking Iraq....but choosing to support the Vietnam War, however purposely avoiding military service himself.
Both he and Trump 'somehow' avoided the draft and going to war, but are fine with the idea of someone else dying for them.
8T
I think both Republicans and Democrats are glad the hawk is gone.
8T
Bolton is definitely not a liar. He believes what he believes.
plasticmonkey
Depends on how much they bend over and take it from Trump.
plasticmonkey
Trump hired Bolton because he saw him on Fox. He liked the tough talk. Thought it would add some spice to the Trump brand.
Trump's foreign policy is built on show: military parades, photo ops with dictators and terrorists, withdrawal from treaties, belligerent tweets. All stuff that has minimal immediate effect, other than to boost Trump's popularity with his cult base.
I'm pretty sure that from the beginning Trump didn't envision Bolton lasting very long. It's all just gaslighting from the conman in chief.
Reminder to anyone still working for Trump: assume the position.
Serrano
I go with Bolton’s version of events.
You do that. Can't you just be happy that he's gone? Jeez...
So has every other president since Truman. It's not that impressive.
It is for the Koreans on both sides of the DMZ. And NK didn't have nukes until 2006.

So, it would be better to keep him on? No? Can't have it both ways.
stormcrow
Can you imagine the arguments these 2 crackpots would have with one another? In agreement with Bolton, however, about thinking Trump was nuts to try and bring the Taliban to Camp David during the 9/11 memorials. What a nutty president.
bass4funk
Carlson is by all means a “No fan” of Bolton he totally ripped him to shreds tonight, so not all conservatives are of a Borg monolithic cabal unlike Democrats.
Thats just more liberal fantasy conspiracy theories. Lol

Bolton needs to be kept very, very far away from government. He was one of the ones that got us into Iraq needlessly.

You're conflating two issues:
1) Whether Bolton was right for the position
2) Whether Trump is a good person to work for
No, Bolton wasn't any good. That doesn't somehow make Trump a good person to work for. Nor does it make Trump's position on Iran (and other countries) right.
pacificwest
@Serrano
I think you mean "averted attacks on Iran or North Korea" but do Trump supporters really believe stuff like that?
My bet for who is next?
Sadly, whoever Netanyahu and AIPAC wants.
Raw Beer
Great news! Bolton was clearly the worst, most vile member of the administration. He seemed to represent Israel, rather than the US, I suspect Trump had to hire him as a condition to receiving all the zionist funds.
Anyway, I hope Trump will do the same to Pompeo and Kushner next.
Concerned Citizen
@Burning Bush
Exactly.
President Trump doesn't want war. Why make enemies and war which results in bloodshed and death when you can instead make business partners with whom you can make win-win deals?

Never liked Bolton, a hang around from the Neo Con era, just like Cheney and Rumsfield.
Did allot of damage to the world
I do like Mr Trump, however

2024 you might have a chance.
This could turn out to be a real blessing in disguise. The real people that are complaining are the ones that don’t have a backup plan for regime change.
Strangerland
Of course, you didn't! As of today, every Trump supporter never liked Bolton!
Texas A&M Aggie
Now that Bolton has been sent packing, President Trump should choose John Ratcliffe as his replacement. Imagine the good he could do aiding Barr and Durham by supporting the public release of documents revealing all the nefarious shenanigans by the last administration and its embeds who engaged in undermining a major political party candidate; a President-elect, and a President of the United States. His appointment would send shivers down the spines among the conspirators and those in the MSM who supported/enabled them.

Or are Trump supporters only concerned for the investments they might have in the global corporations that stand to profit.
Leave sovereign states alone. Bring US forces home. Stop spending so much on defense to protect big oil and its financiers.

Bring US forces home
Trump's working on it. We have draw-downs going on in Syria and Afghanistan as we speak.

When you take the job, you serve at the pleasure of the president and if you don’t agree or your worldview doesn’t fit with the presidents word for you, then you should resign, that is what your job is to execute the ideas and worldview of the president he is the boss not the other way around and it is OK if you disagree with him, you’re free to go, you are always allowed to say your opinion, but the president doesn’t have to act on that opinion, but you cannot hinder the president because you’re not the president. If the president and this doesn’t matter Democrat or Republican whatever he wants to have it done, you do it and if you don’t then you are free to resign or be terminated which ever comes first.
TheLongTermer
I think for myself, and do not belong in anybody's camp
I think most of Trump is doing is long overdue, and for that, he deserves great respect
The firing of Bolton, Mattis and others tells me Trump is an independent thinker
Bolton and others like him are dangerous people. If you ever worked in the government you
would know that there are many like them; career bureaucrats whos view of the world is
dated. Comey was another goof I did not like, as well as SECDEF Gates under Obama.
quercetum
Great move but this administration still doesn’t have a foreign policy other than making waves, photo-ops, and spotlight diplomacy.
Trump doesn’t care about intl relations, he just wants pictures of himself with world leaders appearing to be solving problems. He wants that Nobel Peace Prize that Obama has.
Raw Beer
I suspect the firing is connected to Netanyahu's pledge to annex much of the West Bank, probably with Bolton's backing...

wtfjapan
The world's been a safer place since Jan 20, 2017. LMFAO.
Russia developing new hypersonic weapons, Iran back to developing nukes, NK testing more missiles to deliver its nukes, guess who made that all possible. and no it wasnt that previous black man in the white house
wtfjapan
When you take the job, you serve at the pleasure of the president and if you don’t agree or your worldview doesn’t fit with the presidents word for you, then you should resign,
actually its the job of the POTUS to listen to his advisors, they have more much experience in their fields than the president. But no Trump doesn't listen , he thinks he know better than everybody and his botch policies with Russia, NK and Iran is proof of that
SuperLib
Ah, I'm starting the show at 30 minutes in and they've moved on from the coverage of Bolton.
I respect your continuity in Bolton. I disagree that he's a good man. But at least you aren't doing a 180. Respect.
Blacklabel
I didnt elect his advisors and the President is not bound in any way to actually accept their advice as correct.
It whats the word says....."advice".
lincolnman
So what? This President doesn't need "advice" - I mean, he's said he is smarter than all the Generals when it comes to the military. He says he's the world greatest businessman when it comes to the economy. He claims to be the most moral person in America so he doesn't need any religious advice.
Hey, when you're a "stable genius" and you have all omnipotent black Sharpie, why do you need experts around offering advice, right?
Now, let's get the nukes ready for that next hurricane....

It's not a binary issue, Serrano. It would have been better for Donny to have been competent in his hiring.
RichardPearce
Trump being Trump, believing what he says over what someone else says is stupid.
Bolton being Bolton, believing anything he says about Iran is like believing what the Christchurch mass murderer says about Islam.
Serrano
The past two years has shown over and over that the things you predict are consistently wrong.
Really! Like what?
It's quite obvious that Donny is a troll and so are Trumpophiles.

Trump and Bolton have different accounts of how they went their separate ways
Who to believe - obviously one of them would be lying
Bolton is a 2003 Iraq War neocon hawk, which makes it strange that Trump hired him in the first place. Bolton didn't want the Taliban at Camp David of all places especially just days before the anniversary of Sept 11. Camp David was where the US leaders took refuge and held strong symbolically for the nation after 9-11
Israel often sides with Bolton. Israel sees what's happening in North Korea and worries that it would also happen with iran
Basically, what Israel sees with North Korea is the US hardline policy stance, but then Trump chummy it up with Kim just to make himself look good personally with his supporters but doesn't really get anything back policy-wise from Kim
Israel is afraid that without Bolton, Trump will chummy it up with iranian officials just to make himself look good personally but don't really get anything back policy-wise from Iran
Netanyahu is worried with this latest of yet revolving turnover in the White House
ulysses
However despicable Bolton is, he's right on opposing the taliban invite to Camp David(if that was the reason for his departure)
Trump is so desperate to get at least one deal done in the 1 year that he left, he'll go to any lengths.
But as Trump is realising the hard way, doing a deal for the country is very different from the crooked deals he did in business .
