Gun violence rates are far lower in the EU than in the US. Perhaps Europe should more carefully vet American visitors.

Seems like only the terrorists have the guns in the EU, leaving citizens to be sitting ducks to be picked off with ease.

If a person can’t prove what they have to be able to prove, they’re not coming into this country.

Uh, Don, that's how the systems works now.

Seems like lax gun laws in the US aren't doing US citizens any good either - they seem to get picked off with just as much ease. I mean, when was the last time you heard of a massacre being prevented in America because an armed civilian picked off a gunman before he could get off much more than a single shot himself?

Just the southern border is the severely disrespected border Farmboy. The drugs flow easily. Drug cartels move freely. Kids cross easily.

Simon....armed citizen do and have prevented crimes. Look into where the mass shootings are, gun free zones. The media doesn't report the facts always.

armed citizen do and have prevented crimes.

So how many crimes do you reckon are prevented / year by armed citizens in the US ? How about prevented murders ?

This guy is a test for humanity. I want to see how far he can run. Just like watching a train wreck in slow motion. Anyone getting nosebleeds yet?

So how many crimes do you reckon are prevented / year by armed citizens in the US ? How about prevented murders ? Would it be a murder if it was prevented? Silly question. Illegal entry.....lots! Murders less of course since the crime was either committed alraedy prior to intervention. Revert back to illegal entry, who knows what may have taken place if the criminal was not stopped.

Why stop there? Let's ban everyone in the world from travelling to another country!

That joke was very humorless, the majority of people that do own a firearm LEGALLY are not picked off like flies, nor would they go on a rampage and shoot people street by street. I would for any terrorist to come on my block, they wouldn't be very happy at all.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

In 2015, there were approximately 30,000 shootings in the U.S.

We also deport more illegals than that every year for drunk driving convictions. Even one crime committed by someone who should not be here in the first place is one too many, and they have all committed at least one by coming to the US in the first place.

The world according to Trump. Does this not show the world the mentality of Americans. If I was living there I would wear something that showed I was not from the usa. Younger americans already do this when they travel outside their country, makes them a lesser target. I did send trump a e-mail which his minders took offence to. I simply said MAKE THE WORLD GREAT AGAIN, DUMP TRUMP. The reply was comical to say the least. I will never be able to cross into the usa, Your name has been added to the list of undesirable persons. Who is the winner here. ME!!!!!

Yes, you never hear of someone going on a rampage with legally owned firearms in the US.

Compared to the millions that own firearms and don't, it's a very, very small number.

The same is true with Muslims, but you have 0 problem with banning them from the US.

Yur double standards r showing again, Bass.

tatanka: "Seems like only the terrorists have the guns in the EU, leaving citizens to be sitting ducks to be picked off with ease."

Yeah, worked fabulously in Orlando, didn't it? or whatever other of the -- how many gun massacres so far this year alone? In the past few? You're out of your element, my friend.

bass4funk: "the majority of people that do own a firearm LEGALLY are not picked off like flies, nor would they go on a rampage and shoot people street by street."

Wrong. The majority of mass shootings are committed with guns obtained legally, and that's a HUGE part of the problem; limiting the amount of guns. Only a MORON feels they need a gun, let alone 24 or something equally ridiculous.

"I would for any terrorist to come on my block, they wouldn't be very happy at all."

How would you know they were a terrorist? They usually aren't until they start shooting, and then that's only IF they are terrorists. If it's a white guy you wouldn't even say they were a terrorist, period. So so much for THAT theory! Plus, if someone decided to rob you they'd have their own arsenal and would be quite happy. There is a much, MUCH higher chance you end up killing a family member accidentally, or become the victim of your own guns, than you stopping any crime with them.

Look into where the mass shootings are, gun free zones. The media doesn't report the facts always.

And you don't report the facts always.

There were some 20 civilians openly carrying firearms and an untold number with concealed weapons present at the Dallas police officer shooting where some 200 armed police officers were on patrol. Not one of the civilians fired their weapons at the attacker. Not a one, including those in tactical vests with AR-15s strapped to their backs, who were somehow unable to follow through on the sense of security and bravado carrying a gun unfortunately conveys to folks who don't have the training necessary to be considered part of a well-regulated militia.

False bravado and a false sense of security is all that carrying a weapon in public results in without the proper training. There's no safety or security to found in simply having a gun on your person without a corresponding regular, comprehensive, ongoing training regimen to make certain one can and will respond accordingly if the need arises.

Oh, wait... There's a term for people who train extensively to uses guns like that to protect the public. They're called police officers.

Silly question. ** Ill

Let me rephrase these two questions:

(1) How many potential crimes (in total) are prevented by armed citizens? (2) How many potential murders are prevented by them? (in your estimation).
