I think the Generals should give Trump 48 hours to get out of Washington before they transfer him to his new resort in Guantanamo. This or something similar is going to happen sooner or later, since the civilian leadership doesn't have the courage to deal with this megalomaniac.

Along with the other groups created by the US's invasions of sovereign Arab nations? ISIS etal are today's enemies that today's demagogues are using to fire up their unthinking masses to get them to think war is somehow needed.
It's time for the US to cut losses and send its troops back from MENA and other points around the world.
Russia stands to gain the most from further destruction of Syria; let the Russians do their own fighting.
Neither the US nor Russia nor any other invading military can completely defeat forces defending their own country (nor forces made up of peoples with similar ethnicity from that country's region). The US learnt that in Vietnam, Russia in Afghanistan. The ONLY people to benefit from more war are the arms makers.
Russia's got lots of petroleum reserves. Same with the US. The US needs to develop alternatives to petroleum. On that note, both the US and Russia should leave MENA alone; their resources are theirs. Same with Afghanistan.

What happened to Trump's plan? I thought he knew more than the generals?
Maybe Chuck Norris can be brought in as a special advisor ...

I was going to ask the same thing. He said he had a plan, that it was a good plan, and it would get rid if ISIS quickly. He didn't want to publicly release his plan because he didn't want to give ISIS a chance to react. Now it turns out there was no plan and it's up to his generals to come up with one? Surely Trump didn't tell a falsehood on the campaign trail, did he? I'd find that hard to believe...

Perhaps Rambo can help:

Wow. Lots of executive orders in the first week. Wasn't Obama derided by the right for his pen?
Or is that fake history?

Will it involve shock and awe?

One can only hope!

I recall that Trump boasted that he knew more about ISIS than the US generals!! I also recall that Trump said that he has a plan!!
Does this mean that was lying? I am shocked!
bass4funk
Obama implied the same thing, that's why when his generals tried to give him some military advice, 2 of them he fired.
You see it unfolding as we speak.
No, he's doubling down.

Bill,
Chuck Norris is clearly better equipped to be a Trump advisor. Watch the Delta Force and get back to me. That dude knows how deal with Islamic terrorists BIG time. Experience! YUUUUGE

@PTownsend - I agree with your statement, "Shouldn't they care more about al Qaida and ISIS? Along with the other groups created by the US's invasions of sovereign Arab nations? ISIS etal are today's enemies that today's demagogues are using to fire up their unthinking masses to get them to think war is somehow needed."
I am an American living in Japan for a long time. I agree with your premise that all of this has been created by the US (and coalition) invasions of Arab nations, which has gone back many, many decades. There is a long history of involvement in Arabia by the U.S., UK, and France.
Trump has many, many faults, but this is not a problem of Trump's creation but of the administrations before him (of both political parties).
The question is should the U.S. "cut and run" or at least do something about ISIS. I do not consider myself one of the "unthinking masses", on the other hand someone needs to do something about ISIS.
If the U.S. does take action it should be something that is done forcefully and that will end quickly. If the U.S. does not take action I believe Russia will and do so in such a way to skew the outcome in their favor......tough call.

@PTownsend 'Russia stands to gain the most from further destruction of Syria; let the Russians do their own fighting.'
Is fighting islamic radicals and international terrorists everywhere a common duty of Russia and the USA ? Or nothing except shaking air ?
