dcog9065 - Lol wut? The Repubs are so astonishingly incompetent, that it seems more likely that they deliberately failed this bill as they know it's far better than the garbage they could squeeze out of themselves

There's no winner here. ACA/Obamacare is still the law of the land, and the cost of healthcare, deductibles, and fines are still rising. The voters reduced the number of elected Democrats because they are angry over the passing of a bill that wasn't read, complete, or understood. They couldn't keep their existing health plan, or keep their doctor. Leaving ACA/Obamacare in place will probable cost the Democrats more seats in 2018.

News reports say that much talked about new health law in place of well known Obama Health Care having economic angle was withdrawn by Trump Administration on 24 March 2017 which is being rated by some commentators as major set back for US President Donald Trump. Readers may , however , like to refresh themselves with this Vedic astrology writer’s precisely related alert in article – “ Astrological probable alerts for US in 2017” - submitted in October and published as early as last year in December 2016 issue of wisdom-magazine.com. The article can be reached online by going to the website , then ticking there “ Articles Archives” and by further ticking “ Heavens”. Just reproducing the related text of alert from the said article : - “ The months of February and March in 2017 look to be bringing to surface for US , woes of economic or financial nature which may upset heavily policy makers and the rulers alike. A kind of economic war may perhaps be there unless appropriate and sufficient strategy is hammered out and applied meanwhile”. So the text is highly suggestive pin-pointing both in relation to timing and nature of aspect of life or outcome which may happen. This writer wishes that the alert could have been red between the lines and made use of.

Serrano - Trump has excuse to fire Paul Ryan

??? You're incorrect to suggest that Trump has the authority to fire the current Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Paul Ryan. U.S. Congressman Ryan was elected to the U.S. Congress by his constituents in the State of Wisconsin. Ryan was elected Speaker of the House by his fellow Congressmen.

haha, but don't dis checkers!! :)

President Trump isn't a republican. Surprised that isn't obvious.

It's obvious that the leader of the party isn't a member of it? Sorry, maybe that's obvious to you. Particularly when his actions all point at him being a republican - less taxes on the rich, less healthcare for the poor, anti-abortion, anti-environment, pro-big business, bigger military. Everything he has done so far has been completely in line with the Republican party of the past few decades.

Trump plans on getting Paul Ryan out as speaker

Making himself look just as clueless and incompetent in the process and blowing his own reputation as a master deal maker out of the water. Oh yes, absolutely inspired.

Trump is playing 10.2D chess

But he thinks it's checkers.

Republicans did not have enough votes. Of cause Dem didn't vote. Ron Paul has been against Trump plan. Ryantried Republican idea but his idea differs Trump's. It is dead now .

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump once said that he would do a lot of "WINNING" when elected. We all know now that he actually meant "WHINING".

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Beginning of the end for Trump, and he has not even reached 100 days. Loser!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"Trump pinned the blame on Democrats."

Hahaha.... He made the decision to try and repeal -- based his campaign on it, said it would be done day one -- and he made the decision to force a vote. Sorry, but the fault lies with him and the morons in his party; they couldn't even get half their own people to go with them.

I thought Trump was a "master negotiator"! hahahaha.

Lizz: "This definitely went exactly the way Trump wanted it to go."

Hahaha... classic sour grapes, and alternative facts to boot.

Well I guess it's time to spend some more taxpayer money and go to Mara largo for a much deserved vacation!! He's only spent about $13,000000 so far!!! :-/

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Trump has been busy over the past 7 or so years tweeting trash, avoiding the taxman, playing golf, making boneheads whoop, grabbing p___y and walking into the dressing rooms of beauty queens.

Why couldn't the GOP use their time more constructively than this?

Now, on to the next failure!!!

Ryan rushed to the White House to help Trump come up with a title for his new ghost-written book: "The Art of Failing."

4 ( +4 / -0 )

If only the Democrats and Obama hadn't given us the disaster known as Obamacare...

...Trump and the Republicans wouldn't have been shown to be failures quite so soon.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Trump could have easily taken the high road and apologized for his failure at rushing forth a plan that had no way of working. Yet, like the idiot he is, he decides to blame Democrats. Doesn't he even realize that the GOP controls the WH, the Senate, and the House? He couldn't get a majority backing from even his own party. What this all proves is that Trump cares nothing about Americans, but his own image, legacy, and padding his own pockets.

With this failure, will Trump retreat to Florida yet again, spending millions of taxpayers' money?

12 ( +12 / -0 )

GOP in 2010 - Obamacare is a failure. We have a better plan. We must get rid of Obamacare.

GOP in 2012 - Obamacare is a failure. We have a better plan. We must get rid of Obamacare.

GOP in 2014 - Obamacare is a failure. We have a better plan. We must get rid of Obamacare.

GOP in 2016 - Obamacare is a failure. We have a better plan. We must get rid of Obamacare.

GOP in 2017 - We have no plan. Or at least not one on which even our own party agrees.

Its pretty hilarious actually. They had 7 YEARS to formulate a plan, and all that time the GOP just twiddled their thumbs and kept blaming Obamacare. This level of incompetence would get you fired in a private sector job.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Trump: A load of hot air.

LOL! FAIL.

“With no Democrat support we couldn’t quite get there,” Trump didn't need democrat support his own partys full support was enough to get it passed. But as we can clearly see now the majority of congress as well as the American people dont support Trump, but hey lets blame the democrats for his own failings. all this winning looks like something from Trumps dreams now. Can see Hilarys next tweet now. "1-0" LMFAO

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Especially for the Democrats who gave us the disaster known as Obamacare.

In true Trump style, Serrano tries to turn a Republican failure into a democratic failure.

The fact is, the Republicans failed to repeal Obamacare, because the people like it. Repealing it would almost have certainly meant angering constituents, which is why they couldn't agree to Trumpcare.

So as much as you'd like to pretend this is a failure for the democrats, the fact is, this Republican failure proves the that even with its problems, Obamacare is better than what came before it.

Trump and the Republicans - complete and utter losers. They cannot even pass a bill when they control the house. A chump who talks to much leading a party that whines too much.

And you guys elected them. Give yourselves a pat on the back for selling out your country.

Tried and failed, not sure which one would have been better, but I think an all out repeal would have been better, but now it's on to tax reform and that should relieve a lot of this headache that we have just been a witness to.

A headache? I think it's hilarious, personally. As for tax reform, if I were you I wouldn't go getting any hopes up if this omnishambles is any indication of how well Trump can manage anything else, even with complete GOP control of the government.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

the master negotiator just got dumped . Funny how you cant get things your way when threats and endless litigation wont work in congress. LMFAO

3 ( +3 / -0 )

From Ryan's failure speech:

We were a 10 year opposition party, where being against things was easy to do. You just had to be against it. And now, in three months time, we tried to go to a governing party, where we actually had to get 216 people to agree with each other, on how we do things. And we weren't just quite there today.

Well there you have it. The speaker of the house admits they had no clue how to govern for the past 10 years, and were simply being obstructionist. A party that spent 7 years whining about repealing health care, without a valid plan on how to do so, and a president who told us about his best health plan ever that would be better, and cheaper, and everyone would get it, and there would be no tax increases, and that we'd be sick of his winning because he'd win so much.

Turns out he's just a loser with a big voice.

Good job Republicans. You screwed your country by electing these fools. Too bad everyone else has to suffer for your stupidity.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Only thing that's gonna explode is trumpy and his cohorts. Sure he is gonna blame someone for this bill being pulled.

You see this sort of thing happen in other countries as well. When a party builds its popularity on the protest vote and then wins power, they often start off terribly. They can't keep protesting against the former government (though they'll try) because they now have the ability - and the responsibility - to run the country. Too many people in the Republican Party have staked their political careers on protesting against Obama and Obamacare in its entirety. Now that they have to come up with an alternative, they can't. Some Republicans want to create good policy that will make the country function better, but some have blustered so much hot air on the topic for so long that they'll block anything. Time for a strong leader to step up, side-step the blockers, and try to appeal to anyone (regardless of their party affiliations) on the grounds of good policy. Of course, you have to start with a good policy first. Until, nothing will improve.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@Lizz This defeat provides the leverage the White House, especially Bannon, needs to start shoving Paul Ryan towards the exit as Speaker.

Is undermining the separation of powers the latest Republican Party tactic? Do R's really want an executive-uber-alles? And a non-elected one like Bannon to boot. Are you admitting that Trump's not in charge, that he's being manipulated by Bannon (and the neo-tsar who shan't be named)?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Trump was tol busy to smear and insult Obana that he forgot he is President.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

I said a long time ago that the GOP would have to prove they can lead (and not just obstruct) and they failed their first test. They are just too fractured of a party to produce major legislation.

Will they learn from this mess or do what they always do, double down? They went too damn far in their criticism of Obamacare, instead of saying it's a start that needs fixing they tried to play the whole thing as "the end of America" and "government overreach" and "socialism" and everything else they could think of, then pushed down the road their now unworkable pledge to have a better system that would cost less with more insured.

Today that smoke screen ended.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Yes, with a replacement Speaker. This defeat provides the leverage the White House, especially Bannon, needs to start shoving Paul Ryan towards the exit as Speaker. Who schedules a vote with something like 15% approval ? It was complete idiocy and political suicide from the start.

If he had a great plan, cehy hasn't it been released? Doesn't exist. And you can't put all the blame on Ryan for calling it to vote when Trump was the one who demanded to bring it to vote by Tuesday. Garbage plans by the garbage leader of garbage party.

Heh, nice spin. You realize Trump doesn't get to appoint the speaker though, right?

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Did they change the article? He's already blaming the democrats:

Trump pinned the blame on Democrats.

“With no Democrat support we couldn’t quite get there,” he told reporters in the Oval Office. “We learned about loyalty, we learned a lot about the vote-getting process.”

Which is a ridiculous argument, as the Republicans control the house. They don't need democratic support to pass any bill. Their own party is all they need.

Which shows just how much of an abject failure this president and his party are. After 52 failed votes to repeal Obamacare when they knew they didn't have the votes, they can't even succeed on the 53rd vote when they control the house, even after they all campaigned on the issue.

Failures. All failures.

The Republican Party must be destroyed.

...and the moderates need to come together and create a party of the sane. Screw the extremists.

17 ( +19 / -2 )

During the election campaign Trump said he had a really great healthcare plan. Is he now going to present it?

The Art of the Deal failed

Trump pulled out his trump card by forcing his Republicans into account for a vote and even threatening them with an ultimatum (vote for it or face his wrath) - and he still couldn't get enough of his own Party to side with him

His deal-making failed on this. There is no Plan B (or is that just another deal-making tactic to force people to vote for Plan A or nothing?) As President, Trump has not closed any deals yet (his immigration is still in the court process) - this was his first big opportunity to close a deal

They had 7 years to the day to plan for this, and they still couldn't manage it. Even the Democrats got enough of the far-left, who think Obamacare doesn't go far enough, to vote for it (that deal-making did not fail)

13 ( +13 / -0 )

katsu, tea leaves read that he'll try to blame the Dems for this. I don't think he yet understands the significance of his defeat, but you know him: his desire for revenge is unquenchable. Of course, he cannot punish the Dems directly. All he can do is to ensure that healthcare in America from now runs as dysfunctionally as possible. That is frightening, but fortunately, for all his claims that "Democrats own healthcare now," that is not the case. He is the steward. The press will hold him accountable.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

@Lizz He looks flexible.

During the election campaign Trump said he had a really great healthcare plan. Is he now going to present it? Those long aware of Trump's history of bait and switch and outright lies knew he never had a plan (just like his 'defeat ISIS in 30 days' plan). By now some of his supporters, at least those who've put the kool aid down, must have also come to accept that he never had one. The slimy deal artist at his lowest. ('Lowest' might be premature; I have no doubt he can get even worse.)

When things have gone south for Republicans they have a history of resorting to some form of wag the dog to distract attention from their screw ups. The Party is looking pretty bad now. So is Trump, though the healthcare debacle is taking attention from the investigations of his Russian connections, a plus for him. It's pretty easy to think that Trump and the Republicans will concoct some distraction, something to take attention away from their inept bumbling. An unstable and erratic DC in a world with Putin, Kim, ISIS etal?

Barely two months in and it's time to drain the nuke protected swamp. Hopefully it's not too late.

LagunaMAR. 25, 2017 - 07:18AM JST Of concern no is whether Trump will try to sabotage the ACA. There's a lot of damage he could cause by executive order or simple neglect - but he wouldn't be so cruel, would he? WOULD HE?

Yes, let us consider whether the man who wants to split up families of undocumented immigrants, ban all members of a religion he doesn't like, and murder the families of suspected terrorists would be cruel.

The question isn't whether he would be so cruel. The question is whether he would be so stupid. Wait no, never mind, that's not really a question either, is it.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

IF they had a vote where everyone was on the record, Republicans would have abandoned ship and voted no in big numbers. The reason? Not because of the far right appeal to completely trash Obamacare, but because they would have to face the wrath of constituents losing healthcare insurance.

"The Art of Deal" by such a classic negotiator. Already tired of all this winning?

Can't say that I'm unhappy they didn't rush the other bill they were pushing through. Sorry they aren't going to revisit the ACA before I go bankrupt. ;( Seems I have to be unable to pay for my home before help will come.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

The Trump Translator says: I have lost all interest in this bill because I have the attention span of a goldfish and I want to go play golf in Florida this weekend. If the ACHA bill passes the House it will prove Trump doesn't care one iota about healthcare. It will show he cares a great deal about tax cuts for the wealthy which all this bill does.

Trump, the world's greatest negotiator, strikes again!
