"I'm not a racist." Of course you can tell us, Donald, but as with most things you say (or tweet), it is an unmitigated, self-serving lie.

Nixon: I'm not a crook.

Trump: I'm not a racist.

On Friday, before he departed the White House, Trump encouraged the public "to observe this day with acts of civic work and community service in honor of Dr. King's extraordinary life ... and his great legacy"

Typical Trump: Ask everyone else to work hard and serve their country, then scurry off to a private resort to relax and serve your own pleasure. Parasite-in-Chief.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

It appears that the President didn’t actually use that word, but it would still be great if he said something to that effect. It’s refreshing to have a leader who isn’t afraid to address the elephant in the room.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Trump decamped to his Florida estate for the long weekend, spending hours each day at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

Trump once again marketing the Trump brand. Marketing costs paid by US taxpayers.

He said comments attributed to him "weren't made."

The reality is at this point after a long life (71 years) of telling lies only his devotees believe anything he says. Communication skills and believability are hallmarks of great leaders. Trump has neither. Except to his true believing followers.

acts of civic work and community service

I doubt if Trump has done much, if any, of either. He's a man who's long prided himself on not paying his share of taxes, on stiffing the government. He asks what the government can do for him.

Has he released his tax info yet? His full info, not the Maddow scam, like other US presidents have. It would be good to see which US corporations he's invested in and which of them are getting more government contracts.

And it would also be nice to see how much he charges the government for playing golf on one of his global properties. Has he played more than any other president? Is he making more money off taxpayers than any other president?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

King's family also urges the public to observe the holiday by performing civic work and acts of kindness

And Trump kindly plays golf.

"It is the dream of a world where people are judged by who they are, not how they look or where they come from," the president said.

Except if they are black or from S**thole countries.

Trump defended himself Sunday night, declaring that "I'm not a racist."

Of course you're not Donald.  A more compassionate, caring and unselfish man has never sat in the Whitehouse.

One man could be seen telling the Haitians to leave the country

Monkey see, monkey do.

121st day spent at a Trump property since inauguration. 1/3 of his presidency.

@cla68It’s refreshing to have a leader who isn’t afraid to address the elephant in the room.

If you’re saying the elephant in the room is racism, I agree with you. To me racism and especially leaders who continue to make unchecked comments that can be interpreted as being racist are elephantine-ly divisive. The US has long had racial and ethnic problems; it’s a divided nation. That some want to expand those divides should worry all who want a united country.

Leaders who lack the intellectual wherewithal to recognize they need to be careful how they express themselves only contribute to the problems. Unless of course their intent all along was to further divide.

Trump’s made these kinds of ‘errors’ so frequently I’ve come to believe he means them. He wants to continue to tear the country apart.

As another poster on this site reminds: words have meaning and how they’re used consequences.

And a few others in the King family as well.

"I'm not a racist." Of course you can tell us, Donald, but as with most things you say (or tweet), it is an unmitigated, self-serving lie.

Nixon: I'm not a crook.

Trump: I'm not a racist.

Hillary, what difference does it make?

Obama: not a smidgen of corruption.

Stop with the hypocrisy.

Democrats are ok with their racist government policies towards Blacks and other minorities. As to why, I just don’t get it.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Obama: not a smidgen of corruption.

That's correct. Trump had more corruption in his first month than Obama's administration had in 8 years.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Trump knows his base very, very well.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

MLK is rolling in his grave. Trump's observance and statement are a bag of lies - a rancid utter joke. He's too cowardly to face the black community and own up to his uncouth schoolkid remarks - just like typical racists are. He ain't even HALF a man.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

...to observe this day with acts of civic work and community service....

Seems like only a year ago, Trump held only great disdain for a particular community organizer....

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I have a dream, that some day this nightmare will end.

That the people will rise up against their oppressors and overthrow "the way it is".

Because right now, it seems hatred is in the ascendant and common decency is at an all time low.

He added, "We got to find a way to work on this man's heart."

Tough job, given that it's made of stone.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So I guess liberals don’t mind that Dick Durbin said Trump isn’t a racist......but only IF he gives them everything they want on DACA negotiations.

All makes sense now, nice try Dick!

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

So I guess liberals don’t mind that Dick Durbin said Trump isn’t a racist.

Where did he say that?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-politics/durbin-if-trumps-not-a-racist-he-can-prove-it-by-compromising-on-dreamers/

can “prove” he isn’t a racist IF he does what Durbin wants. which is against his own best interests as well as the interests of our country. Now the reason for the racist charge is crystal clear.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Claims that "Dick Durbin said Trump isn’t a racist." Provides link that doesn't support claim.

Typical right. This is why we ask for links, too many of your claims don't hold up under even the tiniest bit of scrutiny.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So what’s wrong with my link? Do you change from racist to not racist simply based on doing what I want you to do once?

If so that person never a racist to begin with you just doing one step below blackmail to get what you want.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

So what’s wrong with my link?

It doesn't support the assertion you made.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Of COURSE the coward is hiding after what he said, on this day.

Blacklabel: "If so that person never a racist to begin with you just doing one step below blackmail to get what you want."

Says a guy who supports Trump, who put a gun to the Dreamers heads and said, "Give me money for my wall, or this deal is dead."

And Strangerland is right, your link does not support what you said.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I said isnt a racist IF. The term is being held until he can use it influence Trump’s decision.

Ok how about Durbin said Trump won’t be a racist if he does what Durbin wants. . Point is the same. How do you feel about Durbin’s proposal then?

Can one decision on DACA make Trump not a racist as Durbin claims? Will all liberals immediately cease this “racist” claim forever? Nope you won’t even if he does.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

I said isnt a racist IF.

And your article does not support this assertion.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Sure it does. If Trump doesn’t give them a favorable deal on DACA he is still a racist.

but if he does, he has “proven” he isn’t a racist, per Durbin.

You are a racist. But if you hire my black friend who isn’t qualified for the job you have, that proves you aren’t. So you hiring my friend or not? Same exact thing as Durbin.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Blacklabel: "Can one decision on DACA make Trump not a racist"

Nope. He'll always be a racist, and always has been. Being pressured by the entire nation to try and prove A LITTLE bit otherwise won't make it 100% otherwise at all, despite you choosing to read the article you post in a selective and misrepresentative way.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Sure it does. If Trump doesn’t give them a favorable deal on DACA he is still a racist.

It doesn't say that in the article.

but if he does, he has “proven” he isn’t a racist, per Durbin.

Nor does it say that.

Did you actually read the article?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Durbin says Trump can prove he isn’t a racist by doing this one thing for DACA. . Your issue is with his statement not mine.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Durbin says Trump can prove he isn’t a racist by doing this one thing for DACA

I don't see that in the article either.

Seriously, did you read the article?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Read the URL of the article.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Read the URL of the article.

That's all? Maybe you should try reading the actual article, rather than just the URL.

Narrative busted.

President Trump's approval rating with blacks doubled in his 1st year

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Narrative busted:

Trump’s approval among blacks also fell over the past 10 months, to seven percent from 14 percent

“He also said if the president is not a racist, “the president and the Republican Party have a chance to prove it” through a bipartisan compromise over so-called “Dreamers” who were brought here illegally as children, through no fault of their own.

so please explain this meaning to me.

The way you hope to interpret this would be stated by Durbin as such: Trump is a racist but he can begin to make amends for his racism by doing what I want.

But unfortunately he didn’t say that. He gives a choice of action whereby Trump isn’t racist by saying “if” and “chance to prove it” where it refers to not being racist.

Anyway Trump not being blackmailed over this lame attempt by Durbin. Nice try though as I said.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

That's correct.

And now it all came bubbling up to the surface and thank god all those executive orders are wiped away like a bad Friday night of partying and drinking.

Trump had more corruption in his first month than Obama's administration had in 8 years.

Having a lap dog like Holder to clean up the mess comes in very handy.

President Lyndon B. Johnson once said, "If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

Trump knows his base very, very well.

LBJ and his great society socialist policies was the catalyst and the beginning of the great Black destruction which put Blacks on a sad trajectory of government dependency and it went downhill for the Black community sense.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

If you want actual racism ask Chris Cuomo from CNN why he called a minority in the Trump administration Raj “what’s his name” to mock his family heritage. His name is Raj Shah.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

“He also said if the president is not a racist, “the president and the Republican Party have a chance to prove it” through a bipartisan compromise over so-called “Dreamers” who were brought here illegally as children, through no fault of their own.

Sure, it means that the president and the republican party have a chance to prove themselves as not racists. Unfortunately, it doesn't give a quote as to what he said that chance was. I wonder why they left that out hmm.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Sorry Stranger, your link was as dated as the black bananas in my fridge

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

What? The chance follows right after the statement. “Through a bipartisan compromise....blah blah”. That is how Trump and all repubs get a “chance” to be proven not racist.

Although bipartisan really means everything Dems want minus everything Repubs want, we all know that. And we also know Dems will never stop pulling race cards.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The chance follows right after the statement

Their words, not his. Sorry, but you guys have no credibility in reporting, so we'd need his actual quote to see if that's what he actually said.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Although bipartisan really means everything Dems want minus everything Repubs want, we all know that.

Heh, you guys are in charge, with all the houses and all the power, and still whining about bipartisanship.

Among black men, Trump’s “2017 average approval rating significantly exceeds his 2016 vote share,” admitted a January 11 article in the Atlantic by author Ronald Brownstein. “23 percent of black men approved of Trump’s performance versus 11 percent of black women,” said the article.

That score averages out to 17 percent, or twice the 8 percent score he was given in the 2016 exit polls.

In November 2016, Trump got 13 percent support among black men and 4 percent support among black women, according to the exit polls. That very low support was critical to his victory in the Democrats’ now-demolished “Blue Wall” states.

The poll was “a cumulative analysis of 605,172 interviews SurveyMonkey conducted with Americans in 2017,” according to the Atlantic.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

It’s clear. Despite the wild hatred of the MSM, black Americans see that President Trump is their saviour. Black unemployment is at record lows

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Oh wait, there weren't any.

That would be like saying Trump doesn’t golf at all.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Oh so now the article doesn’t directly say he said what follows the words “He also said......”

never mind then. I can read and if it didn’t mean what I said the article wouldn’t even exist at all, proven by the contents of the URL.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Despite the wild hatred of the MSM, black Americans see that President Trump is their saviour.

Heh, even if your numbers were true, less than one in seven black people support him. And you call that a savior.

Do you really not get bothered by being proven wrong so often?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Heh, even if your numbers were true, less than one in seven black people support him. And you call that a savior.

That’s actually pretty good, the economy getting better with each passing day, Blacks are not a monolithic group even 1-7 that’s not that bad, could have been worse, really!

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

1 in 7 is good? Hilarious, funniest thing I've read all do. Even Bush had higher approval ratings amongst African Americans (32%).

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Poor Donald. The only places he's welcome are a dwindling band of counties in the south. He's certainly not welcome abroad (except Saudi Arabia). He's got the White House, which he abhors and where he stews, and his private golf courses. He is bad and getting worse. Now that the tax deal has been signed, watch for the GOP to turn on him.

Oh, it’s not just the South, here we go again. Liberals never learn lol.

He's certainly not welcome abroad (except Saudi Arabia).

He doesn’t care, he’s the President of America, not Europe.

He's got the White House, which he abhors and where he stews, and his private golf courses. He is bad and getting worse. Now that the tax deal has been signed, watch for the GOP to turn on him.

I think it’s the other way around, the media is getting worse, they throw everything, even the kitchen sink and nothing. Drives the left nuts, absolutely nuts. The GOP won’t turn on Trump, they want that border closed period. And it just tickles me that the TDS continues. ROFL.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Now that the tax deal has been signed, watch for the GOP to turn on him.

From the Wall Street Journal, Jan. 12 2018:

"Wal-Mart said it would raise starting hourly pay to $11 for all its U.S. employees and distribute one-time bonuses, doling out some of the windfall it expects from the U.S. tax overhaul"

You need to re-examine your position. People are more concerned with action rather than words.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Apparently, in 2013 private citizen Trump financed two medical missions to Haiti and Central America. Hmmm, strange that such a "racist" would do such a thing.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Bush is not a real example of a true fiscal conservative.

As I mentioned, just wait for the GOP to turn on Trump, as they inevitably will. There's little laudable about the small man now, and what there is is economic momentum from the previous president (and a huge tax giveaway - "fiscally conservative"? - please). Bush was all the conservative rage until his policies manifested and he became overnight such a pariah that he now dare not leave his apartment. The same will happen to Trump.

Fizz, all prognostication is conjecture, but that based on experience is more likely to unfold.

Yet he observed the holiday on the golf course?

It's fine to play golf, but not after asking other people to honor the holiday doing civic work and community service

If ya want people to do it, ya gotta lead the way

The neice of MLK, Alveda King, is a huge Trump fan.

Typical right-wing thinking, attributing rightness to the group the person was born to, not the thought process that informed that person's choices or the results of those choices.

No wonder bigots flock to the Trump banner.

Leftist/globalist "thoughts" don't necessarily have to be logical. . . .

Yeah for sure. It's not like Trump refused to rent to people simply because of the color of their skin, or called a whole nations people rapists, murderers and drug dealers, right? Right?
