Obviously Trump thought he was going to get a big pat on the back and a lot of kind words. exactly Trump doesn't do anything unless he thinks its going to benefit him personally. Once again his actions have backfired and then he opened his mouth and made it even worse. The man-child needs to learn when to shut up and say nothing, in many situations nothing is better than something and may even help his feeble ratings .

Trump is correct. Next time (and there will be a next time), he should leave the dimwits to enjoy the legal system of another country.

I wholeheartedly agree with that.

Trump is correct. Next time (and there will be a next time), he should leave the dimwits to enjoy the legal system of another country.

I agree. Trump should most definitely selectively decide which Americans he's going to represent, based on the actions of their fathers. That's what a good president does.

Obviously Trump thought he was going to get a big pat on the back and a lot of kind words. I'd like to think maybe he thought that he was just doing the right thing and realized that the offense would not at all be worth the punishment the host nation was going to dole out and had pity on them --

I agree and also think he thought a punishment of who knows how many years in jail does not fit the crime, more than wishing to flex his White House muscles and clout.

but we've clearly seen he just wanted praise and adoration. And, of course, it backfired, as always.

Here, I think he, like many, was perturbed by Ball’s mouth and allowed it to get the best of him. Trump gets a taste of his own medicine.

In Calif, any residents cann attend public colleges and Univ. Free tuition and small registration fee. So, you will notice this kind of parents often. Especially sports speciallitybstudets'.

Not true. California residents pay tuition fees that are lower than out of state tuition, like any other State. At UCLA, where the players are from, tuition is $13,280 for residents and a supplemental tuition of $28,014, total $41,294 for non residents.

While the three UCLA athletes are on scholarship, what is the connection between “[these] kind of parents” and the cost of tuition? And all three are freshmen, meaning they’ve only started receiving free tuition this fall.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump traded a favor to get these three black athletes out of China.

What favor(s) did Trump trade to get their release?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

He most definitely should have, I dont understand why he needed to trade favors for someone that broke the law in other country.. let them serve punishment and then serve it again in US

But Ball's father LaVar Ball, a brash media personality known for outspoken advocacy of his three basketball playing sons, minimized the president's role in an interview Friday with sports network ESPN.

Trump lashed out, tweeting: "Now that the three basketball players are out of China and saved from years in jail, LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal.

Three morons chose to shoplift in a foreign country. At least one of these morons seems to have had access to lots of money, but chose to steal. Daddy Ball couldn't buy his moron son's freedom this time.

Trump traded a favor to get these three black athletes out of China.

Daddy LaVar Ball then has the audacity to trash talk Trump FOR HELPING BALL's SON avoid a lengthy prison term. What a jerk!

I had never heard of the Ball family before this incident, but Daddy Ball comes across as the reason his son has grown up to be a moron.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The sexual predator and traitorous PotUS cannot abide what he sees as bad press or criticism. So he lashes out.

And with good reason or you think he should dismiss what these idiots have done. He shouldn’t, I know I wouldn’t. This is not about the president, this is about 3 thugs that thought they could get away with stealing in another country. There’s NO defending it. There’s seriously something wrong with Ball.

His supporters have learned that this behaviour is the new "normal" and act out accordingly.

They should, most of us are tired of how these looney politicians have been neglecting us for years and years.

They must be challenged. In simple language.

He did just that.

What's tacky is saying he should have left the three kids to rot because he was angry with the response from one of the fathers.

I think it’s tacky that the father would even shrug his shoulders as if what his bright son did was really nothing, astonishing!

Not the response from the kids, but the father. Trump's statement comes across as wishing he could get revenge on the kids because of the ungrateful comments of one dad. It's just an odd response from a grown man.

No, he has every right to comment on Ball’s nutty comment. It really shows what kind of father is in thinking it’s no big deal and the president didn’t do anything. Yeah, maybe the president shouldn’t have intervened and let these guys get thrown under the bus for a very long time. I’ll bet he would have asked either the president or Dennis Rodman to go and try and get his son out. Good on Trump for not taking that crap and as I said before, I hope these guys never get signed or play again.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

First, I got to say that Trump should stop being so petty. It's impossible I know, but if he just kept quiet, then people would actually give him more credit for this. Especially after that other loudmouth, LaVar, who we all know would talk more smack, it'd make Trump look even better. Because I do think Trump was influential to the 3 players' release.

The second thing though is that I really feel the players' release was so unjustified. They got caught red-handed, and they should be punished. It's unfair for those who do such crimes, or even do more minor crimes, and go to jail. Everybody else has to follow the rules or suffer consequences. It think it's setting a bad precedent, and I feel like it'll cause resentment among the locals in China. It may cause problems for both foreigners and the local government there.

The third thing is, I really, really, really can't stand LaVar Ball. You can't even touch Jordan buddy.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I think that this man is an appalling role model for his degenerate son.

For sure. Those hunting pictures are a disgrace.

But that's the Trump family all over. Entitled and self-serving.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I think that this man is an appalling role model for his degenerate son.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

but we've clearly seen he just wanted praise and adoration. And, of course, it backfired, as always.

Indeed. If he'd just kept quiet and held a dignified position by not responding, he would have come out of it looking a lot better than he does now.

It seems he is incapable of letting a negative comment or perceived criticism go.

mmwkd: "Why should US citizens be treated differently ?"

Obviously Trump thought he was going to get a big pat on the back and a lot of kind words. Trump's statement comes across as wishing he could get revenge on the kids because of the ungrateful comments of one dad. It's just an odd response from a grown man.

Nail on the head.

He didn't get the flattery and applause he so desperately demands. He could have ignored it, of course but no. He had to default to the schoolyard bully mode.

It's all about appeasing his ego. Like the petty tyrant he is, he can't let it go without comment.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Trump the so called 'racist' reached out and helped some African American kids who made a mistake in a foreign country that could have ruined their whole lives. To show he cares for ALL Americans, Trump got them released which is a unifying action. See, he cares about ALL Americans.....right? Now the left is mad because they cant call him racist for a couple of days.

You are the only one mentioning race in this entire thread.

The only way they can attack him on this is by supporting ungrateful Lavar Ball, which no one really wants to do. But hey whatever it takes to try to get a point on Trump, even if you have to side with questionable people or take questionable positions.

You're slipping into that mode where you ignore the words right in front of you and start having an imaginary argument with the left as you want their position to be.

What's tacky is saying he should have left the three kids to rot because he was angry with the response from one of the fathers. Not the response from the kids, but the father. Trump's statement comes across as wishing he could get revenge on the kids because of the ungrateful comments of one dad. It's just an odd response from a grown man.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

I think it was wrong for Trump to intervene in the case of those Idiots. They were caught red handed shoplifting in a different country, so the laws of that land should apply to them as they equally apply to the natives of that Country. Why should US citizens be treated differently ?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No one is attacking him for getting the kids out of Chinese detention. They are attacking him for saying he should have left the kids to rot because he doesn't like the attitude of one of the kids' fathers. He's basically saying he didn't save the kids in order to save the kids or because the kids didn't really do anything wrong, he saved the kids in order to earn himself brownie points; and when the the dad refuses him his brownie points, he throws a hissy fit. True

Oh and for the 'haters' let me leave this here for your viewing pleasure.

♦ President Trump approval 42 percent

♦ Chancellor Merkel approval 40 percent

♦ President Macron approval 28 percent

♦ Prime Minister May approval 28 percent

For those interested in accuracy, according to the average of the polls, Trump is just over 38%. The still miserable rating of 42% is the highest of the polls. Naughty, naughty.

By the way, is anyone here singing the praises of May, Macron or Merkel? Some are arguing May will go down in history as the worst postwar UK PM.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

A message even more murky with his support for child molesters.

Let me guess, he also supports the death of kittens, puppies and fires at orphanages.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

President Trump is right, he should have left these entitled embarrassments rot in jail.

And liberals with egg on their faces again. Somehow this supposed white supremist, nazi, fascist Trump went to the mat for 3 black men.

But mention this and its; "This isn't about race!"

0 ( +4 / -4 )

The sexual predator and traitorous PotUS

THIS is what must be 'challenged' as it is not only unproven but wrong.

with his support for child molesters.

And THIS. Trump did not support Moore and said it is an issue for the voters to decide. Exact same thing as Bernie Sanders said about Al Franken and everyone on the left was fine with that.

I think that’s a decision for Al Franken and the people of the state of Minnesota. My understanding is that Al is a very popular senator. People in Minnesota think that he is doing a good job, and his political future will rest with the people of Minnesota.”

Oh and I was wrong about the racist thing, Trump is already 'racist' again, he tweeted that a black football player is wrong to stand for the Mexican anthem and sit down for the American one. Thats not racist, just a correct statement.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Now the left is mad because they cant call him racist for a couple of days

You can interact with the electorate and still be a racist President.

Just like you can smile and shake hands with female voters and still be a predator.

But that's the rapey, racist right for you. Not clever enough to see the horror of this man's elevation to PotUS and what message it sends out.

A message even more murky with his support for child molesters.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

He should have done us all a favor and stayed in China himself.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Oh and for the 'haters' let me leave this here for your viewing pleasure.

♦ President Trump approval 42 percent

♦ Chancellor Merkel approval 40 percent

♦ President Macron approval 28 percent

♦ Prime Minister May approval 28 percent

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Are you referring to Trump? You got to be kidding right?

I was done but seeing as you specifically talking to me. NO I am not kidding.

The only way they can attack him on this is by supporting ungrateful Lavar Ball, which no one really wants to do. But hey whatever it takes to try to get a point on Trump, even if you have to side with questionable people or take questionable positions.

Lavar now says Trump didnt do anything because he didnt personally visit them in jail. He got them OUT of jail so he didnt have to. How hard is that to understand, Dad? And by the way, isnt a failure of yourself that your kid is in jail IN THE FIRST PLACE?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So he does a good thing to unite people and he gets attacked anyway.

Are you referring to Trump? You got to be kidding right?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Whether they spend time in a Chinese prison or not, the fact that they stole is the total embarrassment, isn't it? So Trump went out of his way to help people who were an embarrassment to his country?

They both were at the right place and at the right time.

Lots of people's sons are in jail in the US (which has a much higher incarceration rate than China;

China’s known to fudge around with their numbers, I’m not buying that for a second.

either the US has more Bad Guys, or it locks up more people for acts that are 'no big deal'),

You would have to speak to the various prosecutors that put them their and look at their rap sheets.

and Trump doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. Nor should he, it's the business of the judiciary, not the executive.

Again, at the right place and the right time, we are talking about China and as a show of good faith and trust, the Chinese didn’t want to seem harsh or inconsiderate, played out well for everyone, but I personally think they should have been sent to jail.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

These idiots were about to spend a lengthy time in a Chinese jail (IMHO they should have) if it weren’t for him, that’s a total embarrassment, pure and simple.

Whether they spend time in a Chinese prison or not, the fact that they stole is the total embarrassment, isn't it? So Trump went out of his way to help people who were an embarrassment to his country?

Ball’s father would be sulking and beside himself if his son were in jail and the president didn’t do anything about it.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Good job all three fathers didn't have a go at Trump or he would have been calling for death sentences.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Because one of the kids' dads didn't sing his (Trump's) praises? Is he telling us that's how his peevish, self-centred little mind works?

Doesn't matter, like Trump or not or whether he boasts or tweets is totally irrelevant. These idiots were about to spend a lengthy time in a Chinese jail (IMHO they should have) if it weren’t for him, that’s a total embarrassment, pure and simple. How dare these guys think they can go around taking whatever they want, especially in a foreign country.

He does it all by himself, every time he opens his mouth without benefit of engaging his brain.

To some degree, but on this one, it’s hard to defend, Ball’s father would be sulking and beside himself if his son were in jail and the president didn’t do anything about it. If my kids did that, I’ll tell you what, they’d better not come home. Ball should have just said, “thank you” because Trump really did go to bat for these embarrassment morons. They really lucked out and good that they’re now suspended from playing indefinitely, hope they learn a valuable lesson. You want something so bad next time, take out your wallet or Apple Pay and purchase the products like everyone else.

The dad and the kids sound like pieces of work, too.

They certainly do.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Ball also minimized the severity of his son's offence, saying: "I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses.

Wow, classic. Yeah, there are things worse than theft, but that doesn't mean that theft is correct. By his logic, murder is worse, so we can rape, rob and steal etc? I can see why his son steals, i think he will steal again because by their standard, thieving ain't no big deal. He should spend some time in jail and repent.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

A little gratitude goes a long way. All done here.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

But a Trump article, watch out. Really, it just shows how immature they are.

You did read what Trump tweeted, right?

No need to insult fellow posters for highlighting his arrogant, narcissistic tantrums.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Who goes on a sports tour of China and then shoplifts?  They should be left in jail.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

If you got nothing nice to say then be quiet? yep goes for the president also, both of them are immature fools.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

But I've noticed that they also seem to be sucking the oxygen out of the rest of the site.

It just makes the anti Trump folks feel better. Like they're changing the world or something. They must love listening to their own voice. The New World Order warriors don't really care about the world. Ironic, yes. Zero posts on Japans trade surplus and very few on the worlds biggest genocide in Yemen. But a Trump article, watch out. Really, it just shows how immature they are.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

You will have PLENTY of time to reflect on it when YOU are in jail.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So he does a good thing to unite people and he gets attacked anyway.

No one is attacking him for getting the kids out of Chinese detention. They are attacking him for saying he should have left the kids to rot because he doesn't like the attitude of one of the kids' fathers. That's what people are attacking.

He's saying he's not interested in doing the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing; he's only interested in doing the right thing so long as he gets praised for it.

And this is the man with his podgy little hand on The Button.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

I’m sure the Chinese President wouldn’t mind to have them sent back. He was nice enough to make an exception for them that theft by foreigners in his country is ok.

Seens Daddy Ball fine with his boy stealing stuff too, not a big deal to him at all as long as nothing prevents his boy from playing NBA and getting paid. Daddy already ruined the reputation of his older kid, now this one?

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Identity politics. Surely all politics is "identity politics"?

Some bruised egos here over the idea that there weren't deep bows and testimonies to Trump's greatness for doing his job.

He's been elected to serve the people - not to seek their undying love.

If he wants that kind of thing he should apply to be the next leader of the DPRK. Citizens there have pictures of all 3 Kims in their homes. They have no choice. They have to.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

the left didn’t get a chance to play identity politics cause the president got them out soooo fast.

if they were still there the media would be reporting on the lack of action of “racist” Trump by now.

I mean was there even an article on this site when he got them released? So why is there one now? Think about it.....

ungrateful people deserve nothing. Except on the left who has this strange “entitlement” mentality

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

@noriyosan

President Trump is 100% correct.

Oh, come on. Surely 105%, at least.

Bigly correct.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

You don’t have to agree with someone to have gratitude for the life of your child. This kid will be a multimillionaire in the NBA instead of in Chinese prison entirely because of Donald Trump.

You also think if Trump would have left them there that it wouldn’t have been used as yet another example of his “racism”. I can see CNN now saying if those kids were “white”he would be doing something to get them out.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Trump isn’t regretting doing the right thing. He is frustrated that there are still ungrateful people whatever he does. He could have used this “favor” for someone or something else more deserving, lost opportunity.

Dont you think the Chinese President is also seeing this and thinking “what was the point of me agreeing to this goodwill gesture?”

-5 ( +6 / -11 )

Trump didn’t secure the release of the players because of their race. He did it because they are Americans.

As he should. The president is the leader of all Americans, not just the ones that agree with him.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

Whatever Trump does, people criticize. Trump. should leave them in Chinese jail. At least they can eat chinse food for ten years. Foreigners get max sentence because translator cost.

0 ( +7 / -7 )

He did it because they are Americans.

Sounds like he regrets his decision. One of the fathers criticized him so now Trump is saying he should have left all of them there.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

POST MISTAKE CORRECTION:

It should read,

"Trump wouldn't be making an issue or a scene if it weren't to stoke his big ego. Shoplifting is wrong but Trump's hands aren't clean either".

Also Weasel, you're right about dictators having 'little tolerance for disobedience - civil or otherwise - from visitor or citizen regardless of your status or talent.' but we have a pompous ass in the WH who is bigoted, ill-mannered and egotistical. It's all him him him. Donald Trump is only out to promote himself, he's a 71-year-old crybaby who doesn't know when to shut up and let things be.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Trump is rightfully pissed at Ball's father.

-1 ( +7 / -8 )

SuperLib: Why is it important to point out their race?

Odd question for someone from the Left. Isn’t race and all other demographic differences central to identity politics? The Left would fall apart if they stop picking at racial wounds.

Pointing out our racial differences, and how these differences explain all inequality, are apparently the most important thing there is to know about the world - but especially the West. If Dems don’t want others to point out racial differences, they shouldn’t spend all their time telling others how central race is to their own world view.

Trump didn’t secure the release of the players because of their race. He did it because they are Americans.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

3 more years of this? One's been enough.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Trump wouldn't be making an issue or a scene if it weren't to stoke his big ego. Shoplifting is wrong but Trump's hands are clean either.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Trump, ever the benevolent, selfless man. He didn't want thanks, he didn't want the victims to suffer without said thanks -- oh wait... yes. Yes, he did.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

Classy people all round. Americans have become an international embarrassment as they plunge headlong into "idiocracy", with degraded levels of public education and public decorum.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

. If you got nothing nice to say then be quiet?

But, but, that would leave Donny with pretty much nothing to say.

Seriously though, Ball is a troll; Don't feed him. Take the high road.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

It’s not that the Dad didn’t “sing Trump’s praises” its that he went out of his way to diminish Trump’s accomplishment in saving his kid from prison.

Yeah. And?

2 ( +7 / -5 )

It’s not that the Dad didn’t “sing Trump’s praises” its that he went out of his way to diminish Trump’s accomplishment in saving his kid from prison. If you got nothing nice to say then be quiet?

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Why point out their race? Because Trump is supposedly a racist and a bigot who would never ever help anyone except his white supremacist buddies or his rich friends.

Or is that made up garbage and he really helps anyone he can? I say the latter is true and this is another example.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

LaVar Ball, the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal.

As usual Trump's grammar is ... individual.

Presumably he means that the dad is saying that shoplifting no big deal, while he (Trump) thinks it is a big deal.

So why did he work to get release for three common thieves?

If he means that he (Trump) thinks shoplifting is no big deal, he's dissing his new bff, saying Xi's China locks people up when they've done nothing wrong.

In which case, why does he wish he hadn't got the kids out of detention they didn't deserve?

Because one of the kids' dads didn't sing his (Trump's) praises? Is he telling us that's how his peevish, self-centred little mind works?

Either way, Trump doesn't need the fake-news MSM to attack him.

He does it all by himself, every time he opens his mouth without benefit of engaging his brain.

The dad and the kids sound like pieces of work, too.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

President Trump is 100% correct.

2 ( +10 / -8 )

Do the crime, do the time.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

"I should have left them in jail!" he added.

Indeed, you should have.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

regardless of what Trump or the players egoistic dad said, why would president of the United States help thieves? No matter how small the crime, don't they deserve to do the time according to the law of the land?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Blacklabel: Trump saved 3 black criminals

Why is it important to point out their race?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Trump only went out of his way to negotiate their release because it’s a relatively minor crime, and high publicity incident.

What about the hundreds of US citizens rotting in SE Asian prisons for (sometimes dubious) drug smuggling charges?

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Actually I was thinking to buy a Big Baller Brand shirt or 2 since I am a die-hard Lakers fan and like Lonzo Ball. I always hesitate though knowing loudmouth Lavar runs the company.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You can take the boy out of the Getto, but you can't take the Getto out of the boy.

The only one from the ghetto is Lavar since he was born and raised in South Central. LiAngelo is from Chino Hills which is way way far from ghetto.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

why are we covering either of these idiots? they are both egotistical maroons who wouldn't know what class is if it came up and bit them in the arse. trump is an emberassment as a president and ball is an emberassment as a parent.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

I see someone's questioning Trump's racism again.

I'll say it once more, I am baffled at the misdirection, mistruths and misfires when it comes to Trump and his past. It's well documented. Especially the racism; the Birther movement, the Central Park Five, the discrimination against renting to black tenants and all the rest. It's been posted on this site numerous occasions but is still ignored by Denial Trump supporters.

I guess, like those who live in countries like China and the DPRK, they will need de-programming when it all comes tumbling down and Trump goes to jail.

Make America Humble Again.

-6 ( +3 / -9 )

When it comes to nationals being held in foreign custody, it’s always a lose lose situation for the president.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yep, should have left them in jail in the first place. I wonder if the Chinese government will have their citizens avoid the stores Mr. Ball owns.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

In China, shoplifting get 5 to 10 years of jail sentence. So, Trump had to negotiate releasing. Don''t think Shoplifting is culture of UCLA.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

This is embarrassing as hell to watch from afar....

The president is a sad joke that gets worse over time, we have 3 spoilt brats acting like idiots, then get bailed out, one ol'man  tries to out-trump trump.....good luck with that!

I say send trump, the 3 thieves & dad to China to spent some quality time behind bars there, would do the WORLD some good(with trump in there) & the other 4 idiots might, might be rehabilitated........perhaps unlikely

I am NO FAN of the Chinese govt, but its sad watching the US get dumber & dumber over time, the number of idiots seems to be growing rather quickly the last few decades & counting!!

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Media also edited the quote of the father here.. He angrily said “who?” prior to his quote above. So he also doesn’t know who has President is?

Also this story was totally ignored by the media when the so called “bigot””racist” Trump saved 3 black criminals by his hard earned connections with the Chinese President. Only now is the media interested like it’s wrong for Trump to expect some gratitude. He was more than kind to these kids in giving them a second chance at their life.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

Who will rescue Trump, I wonder?

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

This is the genius of Trump. He makes liberals look ridiculous as their position of to attack HIM rather than an ungrateful father.

So it’s too much to expect the father to at least be quiet if he is unwilling to thank the president! Saved his criminal kid from 10 years on Chinese prison.

not a big deal? Tell that to the parents of the kid NK killed cause Obana DIDNT rescue, or the US marine who was left in Mexican prison.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

I would have left them to enjoy China's prisons.

14 ( +17 / -3 )

Attention seeking baby man lashes out for not being allowed take credit for everything shocker.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

I agree with Trump for completely different reasons. He should not have gotten involved in their release in the first place as why on Earth would he have to in the first place? It’s not the president’s job to secure the release of morons overseas who steal, so why did he?

Secondly, who knows what Trump gave up to China in order to secure their release? This is the most critical part, and even China giving them up as goodwill is a massive diplomatic loss for America and frankly grossly humiliating, as if China is the senior partner here.

I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses*.

This guy sounds like he'd be OK with it if President Trump decided to hand his son back over to China so he can rot in a Chinese jail for a few years while waiting for his show trial followed immediately by starting a 10-year prison term. . .

@Crazy Joe - that is called lowering the bar as to what is acceptable behavior, which has been going on for years in the U.S. (maybe all over the world...). Because he sees people stealing in the L.A. does not make stealing OK.

Not to condone shoplifting, but at least they didn't scam Americans out of tens of millions of dollars like Trump did with Trump University.

He also minimized the severity of his son's offence, saying: "I'm from L.A. I've seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses.

Wow. And this guy just opened two new retail stores in China (Shanghai and Hong Kong) to promote his brand. Will be interesting to see how that turns out.

I definitely think Trump is not fit for duty and his Tweets are a national embarrassment. In this case Trump actually has a point (the man is not wrong 100% of the time). However, he should have just kept his mouth shut (or his fingers off the keypad in this case). It is amazing how foolish and immature he makes himself look with the use of Twitter and even more amazing that people around him cannot convince him to stop this nonsense. Sophomoric is the word that comes to mind....

Educator60Today 08:02 am JST“the father of LiAngelo, is unaccepting of what I did for his son and that shoplifting is no big deal.”

Does Trump realize he is saying that shoplifting is no big deal? Maybe he really does believe that since he went to the trouble to get these shoplifters sprung from jail?

No I think that's just another example of Trump's 5th grade level grasp of the English language. Trump's trying to say that the father thinks "shoplifting is no big deal".

One thing you can’t accuse Trump of is not being true to himself after he became president.

He will not grow up for anyone.

Shows the ego and attitude of Ball’s father and how impulsive Trump’s reaction will be if he’s slighted.

Not the most presidential lol.

23 ( +25 / -2 )

Just shows how much of an immature idiot Trump is. No slight goes without a response. We expect this from children, not adults, and certainly not from a president. He should have left his people to mention any anctions he did. Now, we have the office of the president stooping to the level of immature idiots.

‘They try to make a big deal out of nothing sometimes.’ I’m from L.A. I’ve seen a lot worse things happen than a guy taking some glasses."

I love this quote from Steve Kerr the head coach of the Golden State Warriors NBA team, when asked about his thoughts on the subject;

"Modern life. People seeking attention and they're both getting it," Warriorscoach Steve Kerr said about the back-and-forth between Ball and Trump. "I'm sure both guys are really happy. You know what would help? If all of you just stopped covering both of them. Is that possible? You can probably stop covering LaVar. I don't think you can stop covering the president. I don't think that would work.

"It would be nice for all of us if both of them would just be quiet. That would be great."

24 ( +26 / -2 )

Well it’s true, if it weren’t for the president, those 3 would be in a Chinese jail and his controversy wouldn’t even take place. If these fools wouldn’t have shoplifted in the first place. No one told them to do it and why on Earth would they want to?? The people that are in the wrong in all of this are the guys that shoplifted, let’s not forget that and Ball should have known if he attacks the president he’s going to respond, that’s a given.

Of course they are ungrateful. They are used to breaking the rules with no consequences.

13 ( +25 / -12 )

Jeez, a credibility contest between LaVar Ball and Donald Trump.

20 ( +23 / -3 )

They are both acting like spoiled little brats.

Really hard to decide who is the actual DB in this case.
