The subpoenas, stemming from Attorney General Letitia James’ yearslong investigation into matters including “the valuation of properties owned or controlled” by Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, came to light after James went to court last month seeking to force the Trumps to comply.
This has been going on in the New York landed elite rentier class from Leona Helmsley to the Kushner family. And much before that. And will continue even if Trump is convicted.
The carnival barker is a master of misdirection and distraction for the show going on behind the scenes.
The huge systemic advantages of the rentier class need to be addressed with the utmost severity.

Real estate owners are going to make their properties look good for loans and bad for taxes. Nothing really new here. The question is whether Trump took things too far, misrepresented, lied, etc. If Tenant A is showing $10,000 rent on the books for loans and $5,000 for taxes then we have a problem.
And it's even better if they have a paper trail showing intent. Most companies are too smart to write stuff like this down but that's how Trump lost his discrimination lawsuit twice. They actually wrote out a guideline on how to discriminate.
Trump has won some and lost some with the courts. He definitely has his hands dirty and his supporters love him more than America so they won't speak out against him.

ABC News reported that Ivanka and Donald Jr. are refusing to comply with the subpoenas.
LOCK THEM UP!
It's so hilarious that the people that chanted "lock her up" 5 years ago are now on their way to getting locked up.

Many of Trump's supporters follow their Trump, because although they may donate to their local Evangelical church, they must not believe many of the teachings it was supposedly based on, things like honesty and not killing which are Commandments they must they think are for others to believe. Yet many of these same people want to require their religion to be used in their children's schools. Trump supporters seem to have substituted their Trump for their religion's supposed deity. After all Trump similar to other despots promised his followers a return to some garden he imagined and got his poorly educated flock to accept, while pushing more MAGA nonsense, and creating all sorts of demons and devils, usually some group of 'others' his herd believe he'll fight for them. But also believing they still need lots of guns to protect themselves from. Trump has got his followers to believe American institutions are bad, and got them to accept Russian institutions are better. He also got them to believe the US establishment members (all except himself, his family and his fellow filthy rich cronies) are bad but foreign establishment members like those in Russia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other places are good. Trump gladly welcomes tithes from them as well as tithes from Americans, he'll accept any money from anyone, so he can keep his golf courses and resorts profitable.

My oh my, are the chickens coming home to roost....
Anyone want to take odds on how fast they clam up and take the 5th?
You know, just like "the mob" as one person described it....
"Horrible, horrible, horrible, If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment," Trump said as a candidate in 2016, "the mob takes the Fifth," Trump declared.

If they're found guilty, I'd like to think law and order will prevail. But because they're rich, I doubt they'll be punished much at all. As some posters here have written, it's only those in the working classes who should do time, not the country's establishment members, unless those establishment members are in a faction other than the far right fossil's.

So how will Trump, Don Jr, and Ivanka do if they comply and are questioned? Let's ask MAGA-world hero and Trump acolyte Steve Bannon - who outlined what he thought about this scenario in Wolff's book....
On Trump: He "runs a criminal enterprise" and is nothing but a "scumbag"....
On Don Jr: "He'll crack like an egg" under questioning....
On Ivanka: "She's dumb as a brick".....
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/28/bannon-trump-organization-criminal-enterprise-comments-michael-wolff-book
Hmmmmm.....doesn't bode well....
Maybe Rudy Giuliani can ride in to save the day; "Mr Giuliani, is your client guilty? Absolutely not your honor. OK, has be committed any of the fraud outlined by the prosecution? Of course he has"....
Welcome to MAGA-world....

2022 - the year Trump's swamp starts to be drained to expose the bottom feeders and nasty rightwing fixers that have been polluting American politics for years. Sadly, the impunity dispensed by the US system of "justice" will of course still serve as the life raft for the most moneyed and politically connected of the swamp creatures.

What?
The really said thing to all that rant is, some liberals actually in some benign way believe that junk, lol

Won't celebrate until I see their family Christmas photo with a lot of orange jump suits.

Guilty of what? The chances of Trump ever seeing an inside of a prison would be equal to seeing Hillary go to prison, it just won’t happen.
No, it’s because the so-called crimes doesn’t meet the standards of the guy being carted off to prison. The sooner the left get that out of their heads, the less shock they will be when he is acquitted a 3rd time.
However, if you’re hoping to see Donald Trump handcuffed and behind bars — this won’t do the trick. And if you’re hoping the investigation falls flat and Trump avoids incarceration, you can breathe a sigh of relief, certainly for now and probably for good.
Prosecutors can and sometimes do indict corporations. I never did it when I was a federal prosecutor — mobsters don’t tend to officially incorporate as, say, “Gambino Shakedowns LLC” — but I supervised some corporate prosecutions at the New Jersey AG’s Office. In one case, for example, we indicted a crooked engineering firm that violated the state’s “pay to play” laws by making undisclosed (hence, illegal) campaign contributions to well-connected politicians who then funnelled lucrative contracts back to the firm. Importantly, we also indicted the firm’s officers and employees who were involved in the scheme, in their individual capacities.
Corporate charges can be a potent means to hold to account not only the people who concocted a crooked scheme, but also the corporate entity that facilitated it. But the Trump Org indictment, as it currently stands, is thin gruel.

Not one poster ever said that.

If the Trumps are being subpoenaed, the Attorney Generals already know the answers and are looking to close the door on someone.

The trump’s might be done with New York, but New York is not done with the trumps.

the DNC and mainstream media fears this man that much.............

The RNC coffers is all that stands between trump and bankruptcy, and that supply will get turned off once the convictions start flowing in.
Let the countdown begin………

bass4funk: "Trump says a lot of things, but they’re just words, kind of like (for example) when you listen to AOC, lots of vocabulary and that’s kind of it, really bizarre, but amusing nonetheless."
Yeah, no, not alike at all. AOC is intelligent, coherent, and argues policy and more. Trump has "coffefe", rambles on like an Alzheimer's patient on his/her best day, contradicts himself in the same sentence constantly, and does anything BUT talk about policy or the good of the nation, but only brags and strives for the betterment of himself, at the expense of the morons who support him.
Blacklabel
So the sources are allegations from “the media” and then convicted liar Michael Cohen? can’t check in with a Michael Avenatti while they are at it?
Good luck!
stormcrow
Nothing will happen to them. They should be punished severely, especially The Donald, but nothing will happen. It's like Hitler back in the 1920s all over again after his failed coup to take control of the German government. Hitler had too much popular support, and the courts there were afraid to punish him harshly, although they should have. Same thing here, as we're seeing with the 1/6 investigations. Nothing is going to happen, and the next time it'll be worse than before.

Ivanka turning on trump is what will finally will break him!
She is trying to distance herself as she has her own (misguided)political ambitions.
Will be fun to watch her testify against trump!!!!
Blacklabel
He just made billions with the media company stock. But yeah sure whatever.
whatever happened when you got all excited about the CFO last summer? Or when Eric Trump testified?
Ummm nothing. Replay of that coming here.,
bass4funk
Yes, like her and what does she have to show for it? Twitter?
So is Trump, you don’t build a fortune, loss some of it, regain it, have one of the largest TV hit shows for 14 years straight, become President of the US, survive a FBI coup to take him down, two faux impeachments survived all of that, yeah, you have to be smart to do all that.
Listen to Biden or even the Democrats daily?
Neither does this administration except for COVID, lockdowns and Jan. 6 what’s that? Anyway, November will change all that for the Dems.
ulysses
He hasn't, ROFL. But he has just fooled the foolish into believing he has!!!
It's still going on and Eric has been quite 'helpful'

Trump always said never take the 5th if you're innocent, let's see.
bass4funk
More than enough to worry the Democrats.
What? Anyway, the true reality for the soon to be and once again disappointed Dems…
Trump’s attorneys have a legitimate point when they note that conduct of this relatively mild nature wouldn’t typically result in a criminal charge against a corporation. I’ve never heard of corporate criminal charges based on tax evasion conduct similar to that alleged against the Trump Org, without more.
Indeed, the Trump Org’s charged conduct pales in comparison to prototypical corporate criminal cases. For more typical corporate indictments, think BP(indicted and convicted for manslaughter, environmental violations, and obstruction over the Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill) or Tyson Poultry (indicted and convicted for large-scale environmental violations). The Trump Org’s charged conduct seems mild even next to my humble state-level case against the crooked, bribe-paying engineering firm.
If successful — keep in mind that indictment is the easy part, while unanimous conviction by proof beyond a reasonable doubt is much tougher — a corporate prosecution can result in meaningful penalties. The company might have to pay fines or restitution (repayment to victims, that is).

But yeah, I get it, the coverage, the drama, futile effort for the Dems still…
dagon
So is Trump, you don’t build a fortune,
Correction: You don't inherit a fortune, lose it...
The Trump followers will never let go of their mantras despite all the facts to the contrary.

Pass the Kleenex

I think the real facts are that the left hope they can completely and financially drain this guy and that plan just got trampled over by the RNC.
Again, I sincerely want the Dems to put all their time and effort into Trump, makes it a lot easier for him and the GOP coming this November. Keep it up!
Bob Fosse
He’s far more entertaining now, as are his mindlessly flailing supporters.
ulysses
ROFL he is so rich that can't afford to pay his legal bills, sure.
Tax evasion is the least of his worries!! Better loosen your purses, the RNC is going to need a lot of money!!!

If you don't know what the word "Perjury" means. Stand by, you are about to see it in action.

He is such an amazing businessman that he bankrupted a casino!

“Informed that, in fact, his show had lost to Mike & Molly in ratings for two straight weeks, Trump shrugged and used a familiar cop-out: “That’s just what I had heard.”
One of the yugest, bigliest shows ever. Mike & Molly that is.
bass4funk
Well, that’s the plan from the left. They know as what I previously point out by a prosecutor the Dems don’t stand a chance of getting this guy locked up, but maybe if they can financially bleed him dry….but that’s not going to work, the GOP know it and the RNC will pay for most of his legal bills.
They do, they sure do….

Yeah sure, Trump is broke.
"On Oct. 21, the first day of trading after news of its Trump combination plans broke, Digital World Acquisition's shares spiked more than 400% in intraday trading and ended the day up more than 350%. The next day, it continued on its tear, with shares at one point trading in excess of $150, a more than 1,400% increase from where they had traded ahead of the deal."

Lets forget it. Individual One is still a freeman even though Cohen was jailed for a crime only Indiv 1 benefited. Nothing was more compelling than that.
Bob Fosse
You can’t use a sharpie on your tax records or verified viewer ratings. Just more lies that the gullible fall for.
ulysses
Ok so he the Dems want to bleed the RNC dry, seems like the plan is working!
Not when they are paying trump's legal bills
Today is not October 2nd, a lot of time has passed and trump media still has nothing
https://news.yahoo.com/trump-social-media-blows-deadline-051258714.html
Analysts have predicted the stock will be worthless soon, can't wait!
bass4funk
Not really, that’s the reason why they’re scrambling to get this thing done before they do even more damage to their party.
The donations don’t stop and thanks to this administration more money will continue to flow into the RNC
Thank God for gold!
correction, trespassers and now what will this committee do to Liz since she doctored up and revised a lot of Trump documents? Such a farce, all of this. Lol
u_s__reamer
...convicted liar Michael Cohen?
Well, he's already paid his dues for his years of shilling for Trump's corruption and criminal activities and, btw, has regained a measure of public trust through his cooperation with investigating authorities, his remorse and admission of guilt. So that's all water under the bridge while now it is the turn of all the unconvicted liars (especially the "Conman-in-Chief" himself) whom the American public wants to see doing the time for their crime.
Blacklabel
You sell it and take your profits, obviously. You do know you can sell stock too, right? Preferably at the high point but I missed it and only got 825% return in 2-3 days.
as it’s trump’s company I’m sure he did better than me and surely invested millions at 1000%+ return.
ulysses
And the RNC is hurting, I suggest upping your contributions.
No doubt and the more they spend on trump's legal bills the less they have for elections!
What's the connection between trump media and Gold?
ulysses
The funny part about Don Jr and Ivanka defying subpoena is that they will turn a civil case into a criminal one.
Cannot wait!!!
Blacklabel
Even if people didn’t sell it at least once- it’s $52 now and it started at $9.
thats still almost 6 times profit even now. Point- Trump is doing fine for money.
ulysses
Devin Nunes is the CEO of trump media.
Apparently no one else agreed to take that role
ROFL the RNC doesn't think so!!!
bass4funk
They're not hurting. Show us any article or financial statement where it says they’re hurting. When the left talks like this it truly means they have no idea of how almost extinct their party will become.
Sure, with this administration, the money will keep flowing. Well, at least Nancy gets it, she’s already making retirement plans
More money for him.
