The judge has to take off this gag order," said Trump

How else is he going to encourage (insight) his supporters to DOX, harass and threaten jurors and witnesses?

Good luck with that, Sleepy Don.

More likely he will be fined and told on Tuesday that the next time he gets to cool his belly in the court jail for some period of time.

Trump arrived in court and delivered an angry statement about what he called the "very unfair" partial gag order imposed by Merchan to prevent him from using his powerful media presence to attack witnesses, prosecutors and relatives of court staff.

Everyone knows it’s a 1st Amendment right to verbally attack witnesses, prosecutors and relatives of court staff. It’s in the Konstitootion. Nobody since Jesus Christ has been treated so unfairly!

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Apparently New Yorkers love 45, they were cheering for him in the bodega. But apparently New Yorkers also hate him and it’s impossible to get a fair trial there.

I wonder which it will be today.

That kid is the extreme example of what MAGA leads to. The kid got sucked deep into conspiracy theories, and now he's dead.

At least he only took out himself and not others.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Liberals are just nutty, lighting yourself on fire...smh.

Everyone knows it’s a 1st Amendment right to verbally attack witnesses, prosecutors and relatives of court staff. It’s in the Konstitootion. Nobody since Jesus Christ has been treated so unfairly!

So Michael Cohen, a known and recorded serial liar can say anything about Trump, but Trump is not allowed to address any of the lies or allegations, yeah, just never heard of anything like this in the US, ever.

More likely he will be fined and told on Tuesday that the next time he gets to cool his belly in the court jail for some period of time.

Good, and I will continue to speak out which is my constitutional right and if I have to pay another fine, so be it, this sham trial continues to help him.

The kid got sucked deep into conspiracy theories, and now he's dead.

Is he dead? None of the news I’ve read states that yet. Wouldn’t surprise me of course… not after that sort of action.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

just never heard of anything like this in the US, ever.

You’ve never heard of a criminal defendant being gagged in the US before?

Wow.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I hope the guy survives so he can tell us that it was all worthwhile. Or that he made a horrible mistake. One or the other.

So Michael Cohen, a known and recorded serial liar can say anything about Trump, but Trump is not allowed to address any of the lies or allegations, yeah, just never heard of anything like this in the US, ever.

When you are 1) a celebrity, 2) rich (allegedly) and 3) getting free secret service protection, yes, you get to take more lumps than the rest of us in terms of speech against you.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

but Trump is not allowed to address any of the lies or allegations, yeah, just never heard of anything like this in the US, ever.

Maybe if he addresses the “lies or allegations” and doesn’t verbally attack witnesses, prosecutors and relatives of court staff he would be allowed to have his say. He can’t really help himself though.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

To add to his woes, it looks like his $190m bond money for the E Jean Carroll case is going to be rejected - the bond company has insufficient assets to cover the cost of its own guarantee so the bond should never have been accepted in the first place.

Donald Trump's unprecedented criminal trial is set for opening arguments next week after final jury selection ended Friday in proceedings overshadowed by a man setting himself on fire outside the Manhattan courthouse.

Rabid conspiracism and attention seeking is the name of the game for this 2024 election and this individual from the information initially available seems an example of both.

This combination has been weaponized in the American political process by MAGA and the Freedom Caucus.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

When you are 1) a celebrity, 2) rich (allegedly) and 3) getting free secret service protection, yes, you get to take more lumps than the rest of us in terms of speech against you.

What you just said was just the biggest crock of Horse**** I have ever heard you say, and you have said whacked stuff over the years, but that just takes the cake.

Maybe if he addresses the “lies or allegations” and doesn’t verbally attack witnesses, prosecutors and relatives of court staff he would be allowed to have his say. He can’t really help himself though.

Maybe if the judge does what up until this sham trial does what judges have done in the past, gag Trump, gag Cohen and be fair to both sides. You accuse Trump of lying, but your key witness is a known and documented liar, so either gag both of them or let both speak, if not, then you cannot say under any circumstance this is a fair trial, you can through the media, but no one believes that.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

All this does is make Trump stronger again

Reminiscent of Chinese style reverse psychology tactics

As for the human tiki torch that was unnecessary

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

but Trump is not allowed to address any of the lies or allegations, yeah, just never heard of anything like this in the US, ever.

But he can, and he does every day. What he can't do is attack the court officials, the jury members or families of those involved in the trial.

One jury member was already basically doxxed and had to go. The prosecutors also found out that another one has been lying about their past and criminal issues - the fact that the defense didn't flag it suggests that the juror was lying for Trump.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

But he can, and he does every day.

Then no need for a gag order.

What he can't do is attack the court officials, the jury members or families of those involved in the trial.

This means he cannot address Cohen or any of his peers because the judge doesn't want to take any chances. Ok, so violate more of the guys constitutional rights.

One jury member was already basically doxxed and had to go. The prosecutors also found out that another one has been lying about their past and criminal issues - the fact that the defense didn't flag it suggests that the juror was lying for Trump.

Well, the entire trial is a sham, so...

All this media attention is helping Trump and exposing the “Justice” system.

All this media attention is helping Trump and exposing the “Justice” system.

You should tell him, he might stop whining about it.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Yeah, not so much. It makes him look like a raging old man in need of a nap and an adult diaper change.

Say, you don’t suppose….?

11 ( +11 / -0 )

He cannot engage in jury tampering or witness intimidation? So unfair!

You better tell the judge, lol.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Yeah, not so much.

No, a lot actually.

https://unherd.com/newsroom/ny-times-trump-support-among-black-voters-grows-nearly-500/

It makes him look like a raging old man in need of a nap and an adult diaper change.

No, it shows he's defiant towards a two-tier justice system.

He cannot engage in jury tampering or witness intimidation? So unfair!

You mean, muzzle him, to make it easier to not be able to defend himself. so basically, if you tie up Mike Tyson, then I guess by all means Jake Logan can beat him in the ring, it seems fair.

You better tell the judge, lol.

The activist and Biden donor  I don't need to tell him anything, he knows himself.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

All this media attention is helping Trump and exposing the “Justice” system.

Amen brother. It totally helps Trump. Which is why his supporters are constantly whining about it. Pathetic.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The funniest thing about this is that 45 is already close to meltdown and it’s only a few days in.

He is visibly seething at having to sit there and keep his yap shut, taking orders all day and the prospect of weeks and weeks more to come.

He’s not in charge here, that’s what hurts him the most and his deluded fans who think he’s some kind of alpha.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

You do not have a right to cross examine a witness personally, but you have right to rebut his testimony,as a witness

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Monday gonna be stormy day

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

The funniest thing about this is that 45 is already close to meltdown and it’s only a few days in.

The same guy who has spent years calling for draconian punishments is suddenly seeing the inside of a courtroom. It makes you have faith in the universe.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

No, it shows he's defiant towards a two-tier justice system.

There always has been a two-tier justice system, which is why Michael Cohen was sent down for executing Trump's plan, but they didn't go near Trump, despite being the apparent brain behind it. Justice may have been delayed, but perhaps it won't be denied.

Cohen, like the Trump organization's CFO got done for lying to protect Trump. But like the CFO, doing prison for Trump once was enough.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Really? Suggesting that the law should protect the little guy

What?

No surprise that the concept of a legal system serving the less socioeconomically powerful is a foreign concept to you deserving a cognitively challenged "WHAAAT???"

It is an IDEAL, one that America has never lived up to like equality under the law and meritocracy.

Trump, the privileged beneficiary of a justice system that favors the rich and powerful plays with concept to dupe credulous individuals , like the tragic incident today.

Nice math paradox on combinatorics, that trial in NY with randomly selected jurors. I would use it in math lessons if I would be a teacher, showing that a fully random drawing can instead lead to a clearly biased predictable outcome for one category of balls in the urn model.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

muzzle him, to make it easier to not be able to defend himself.

What a great legal defense: verbally attack the judge’s family, witnesses, and jurors. Because they are “bias”.

Trump has no legitimate defense, so he goes back to gumming up the system. And playing to his feeble-minded base.

All this media attention is helping Trump and exposing the “Justice” system.

Yeah. Time to break apart the justice system and replace it with something more to Trump’s personal liking.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The man who sets himself on fire has mentally unbalanced and disturbed emotions.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

What are you talking about? ROFL!

Cohen, like the Trump organization's CFO got done for lying to protect Trump.

Nothing illegal about that. Biden’s handlers do the same for him.

But like the CFO, doing prison for Trump once was enough.

Anyway, so Cohen is the star witness for this sham trial, it’s so funny it’s just pathetically sad.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

But didn’t you hear?

cohen and Stormy are “truth tellers” now.

Rofl.

Really? Can their photos fill the broadside of a barn?

And lying to the IRS and FBI is still a crime.

Hmmm

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

cohen and Stormy are “truth tellers” now.

The irony of Trump fans criticizing anyone for lying.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

The irony of Trump fans criticizing anyone for lying.

That goes both ways.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

But Trump doesn’t change the fact that your “star” witness is a federally convicted liar. Ahold still be in prison.

who last testified Trump told him to do things! We got him now! but when cross examined and reminded of perjury changed his story to trump didn’t tell me, I just “knew” what he wanted.

and a “porn star” who owes Trump money. And who signed a letter saying nothing happened 5 different times.

good luck with all of that.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

And who signed a letter saying nothing happened 5 different times.

Lol you think some nonsensical letter signed under duress changes anything about the dozens of documents Trump doctored?

good luck with all of that.

You don't need "luck" when all the facts point to Trump's obvious guilt. Trump fans have got nothing. Their "facts" don't comport with reality.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

who last testified Trump told him to do things! We got him now! but when cross examined and reminded of perjury changed his story to trump didn’t tell me, I just “knew” what he wanted.

Him alone yes, what’s your pathetic excuse going to be to the signed checks and documentary evidence?

How about Hope Hicks? How about David Pecker?

Their testimony going to be impugned with some imagined conflict?

I suppose the recording of Trump coordinating in the establishment of a shell company to pay off Stormy was faked?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

The guy who set himself on fire is a Democrat donor and a Biden voter.

even he knows (well, knew) Trunp is inevitable.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Lol you think some nonsensical letter signed under duress

so there is proof of this, right?

it was a loan! Rofl

sure.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

so there is proof of this, right?

What's that letter got to do with Trump commiting fraud dozens of times? Even if the affair "never happened," that doesn't mean the fraud didn't happen. They've got him on tape talking about it.

Trump is cooked, and all you can do keep repeating the same silly talking points Trump is.

it was a loan! Rofl

Try to stick to what people are actually arguing.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Everything, he’s Trump main opposition political rival

Everything? Lmao did he sneak into Trump's office and fraudulently doctor dozens of Trump's documents? What, Biden framed him?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

But didn’t you hear?

cohen and Stormy are “truth tellers” now.

Rofl.

They haven’t testified yet.

Are suggesting that if someone has lied in the past they are incapable of telling the truth in the future?

I don’t think the jury are that dumb.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Readers, this story will be closed for discussion for about two hours.

The guy who set himself on fire is a Democrat donor and a Biden voter.

A few days ago he was holding a sign that said, "Trump is with Biden and they’re about to fascist coup us."

This guy is just off the rails.

even he knows (well, knew) Trunp is inevitable.

lol
