"They were very old, almost dead," Trump told reporters Tuesday.

Is he talking about himself, again?

“It was a Trump enemy statement."

I see. That's why you're happy to have 95 thousand dead on your watch. They were probably old or enemies.

"Are you ready? Here’s my evidence: I get a lot of positive calls about it."

That's not evidence, that's just more of your fantasies.

“A political hit job,” he said of another.

He must have been referring to his Hunter Biden smear and QPQ....

As President Donald Trump pushes to reopen the country despite warnings from doctors about the consequences of moving too quickly during the coronavirus crisis, he has been lashing out at scientists whose conclusions he doesn't like.

"You, you're a bad scientist, bad, bad".... Anyone else think that sounds like Jerry Lewis?

He offered similar pushback Thursday to a new study from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. It found that more than 61% of COVID-19 infections and 55% of reported deaths — nearly 36,000 people — could have been been prevented had social distancing measures been put in place one week sooner. Trump has repeatedly defended his administration's handling of the virus in the face of persistent criticism that he acted too slowly.

Utterly damning. 36K American lives could have been saved had this Moron been doing his job instead of playing golf and attending campaign rallies...

”Columbia's an institution that’s very liberal," Trump told reporters Thursday. "I think it’s just a political hit job, you want to know the truth.”

More binary, two dimensional thinking for the far-right hate machine and his supporters. If you disagree with the preaching's of Trump, then you're a Liberal - you know, like life-long Repubs Mueller, Comey, Kristol, Mattis, Kelly, Romney, and that used-to-be conservative icon John Bolton...

Asked this week what evidence he had that the drug was effective in preventing COVID-19, Trump responded: "Are you ready? Here’s my evidence: I get a lot of positive calls about it."

Calls from experts like Putin, Stormy, and Kim Kardashian...

“I think there are real dangers," he said, “for the president to play scientist and doctor on TV.”

Very true, and he's been playing President even longer...

From the other side of the Atlantic...

One junior UK politician questioned the government scientists' conclusions, saying that some of the science was not such good quality. She was derided by other politicians and the media for it.

They then learned that she had a PhD in Chemistry from a very respectable university, (Dr Therese Coffey, University College London).

The politicians had mostly studied Law, English, or PPE (Politics, Philosophy and Economics).

Oops!

Lashing out at facts that contradict his far-right narrative?

Flip-floping, giving out misleading information, falsehoods, saying things that make no sense, not giving any evidence to back up statements, contradicting himself within the same narrative...

You know a country is going in the right direction when its president openly criticizes the scientific community. (this is sarcasm)

Surprise, surprise. Another day, another childish sulk. These darned facts are so annoying!!

There we are, you see: the proof is in the pudding.

What good is science if it doesn't support the agendas of the uneducated??

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Well, I mean, Trump is right to contest them. He has one of those... you know... the things in your head that you think with.... a good one of those. The best! And, there are all kinds of per capita, you know, if you talk about per capita testing. All kinds. And yes, Germany only has 8000 deaths and the US has 100,000 now, but they are exactly the same, don't you know? No one can contradict that and be correct. You just can't. Got a great one of these... in my head. Great one. Best... maybe... who knows? but it is. Maybe. Who knows? But look, we are #1 in the world for testing. That's it. #1. but you know, even though we are #1, which means the best, testing doesn't matter. It doesn't. Well maybe. Who knows? It doesn't though, but we're #1. A real scientist agrees with Trump. Doesn't matter what it's about, because, and here's the proof, he's gotten phone calls. Lots of phone calls. Maybe 1000, maybe 100,000,000, who knows? but he has, about a billion. who knows. He's no scientist. But let me tell you, he has a good one of those things... in your head... and people ask him, they say, "How do you know all this stuff? With that thing... in your head... You know more than God!" they say. And you know what? Sound kills birds.

This youtube video from NowThis News shows Trump saying he knows more about just about anything than just about anybody. Or that he's a conman who's spent his life hocking schlock. See Trump U etc.

Cult of personality: how have those worked out.

One junior UK politician They then learned that she had a PhD in Chemistry from a very respectable university, (Dr Therese Coffey, University College London).

she graduated in 1998 , for the majority of her career since graduation she been into politics, she spent very little of her career studying infectious diseases, genetic engineering let alone chemistry. So just goes to prove having a degree in a any field of study does not make you and expert at it or any other field. Apart from studying at University thats about the extent of her expertise on infectious diseases.

So what does that tell you, listen to the experts in the correct fields and have decades of experiencing researching in these fields

3 ( +4 / -1 )

does she have expertise in microbiology or genetic engineering, DNA sequencing or anything regarding the study of infectious diseases. yeah no, leave it to the professionals who actually have expertise is these fields and fighting viruses and or developing vaccines for them.

To be fair, she openly stated she wasn't an expert in epidemiology. She also didn't say the science was wrong so much as that scientists were working with limited information, and therefore advice could be found to be wrong in hindsight. Her main point was that politicians and government had a difficult time making decisions in such circumstances. I think that's a fair point.

One junior UK politician

Not so junior, I think.

Petulant.

When he says he knows everything about something, he has no clue. When he says he doesn't know a certain people, you can bet he's had dirty dealings with that person or was responsible for firing that person. Delusional. When he gets thrown out of the WH next January, he'll be given a one-way ticket either to jail or an asylum.

“If the president is politicizing science, if he’s discounting health experts, then the public is going to be fearful and confused," Gostin said

Personally speaking, I welcome Trump's various witchcraft recipes as I immediatley know what not to do. Not that I ever had much confusion as to the health benefits of drain cleaner. He has an uncanny knack of being wrong about almost everything. A man with a fork in a world of spoons.

Republican political operatives have been recruiting pro-Trump doctors to go on television to advocate for reviving the U.S. economy as quickly as possible, without waiting to meet federal safety benchmarks.

The Republican Party has long cared about maintaining the wealth of the country's 'elite', little if anything about the general population, especially lower level workers.

The Republicans think workers only need to be trickled down on.

The Republicans want workers to return to their jobs, and don't want businesses held accountable for problems resulting from businesses not having waited to meet safety standards.

The Republicans view workers as fungible. And with the armies of unemployed created by Trump and the Republican's failures now have even more power over them.

The economy is failing thanks to the Trump administration and his Republican followers.

Its not just Trump, Its a lot of people who blindly refuse to listen to experts who know a lot more about this stuff than we do. These know-it-alls really need to shut the big mouths, and open up the big ears and start listening to the experts.

I often shake my head at the ridiculous things that President Trump will sometimes say. I believe in using the best information available for making decisions about public health and policy balanced with other factors such as the economic consequences of government actions. The problem with just doing whatever scientists say we should do is that they often don’t know all the answers and often present evidence that is contradictory.

At the beginning of the pandemic we were told by Chinese scientists that the virus isn’t easily transmitted from person to person. That was wrong. Then the scientists were advising that we all should self isolate or we could die from the new virus. That was wrong - only the old and those with underlying health problems are at a high risk of death. My own brother got the virus and his symptoms were mild and he recovered quickly.

A new study came out just today contradicting earlier studies saying that there is a high risk of being infected by contaminated surfaces. Turns out that likely wasn’t true either. The scientists don’t know what they don’t know. Just look at all of the inaccurate climate models that combine all of the known information about global warming for predicting future temperatures. Making policy decisions without adequate information can be very dangerous. The world economy is a basket case right now because of bad or at worst incomplete scientific information about the covid virus.

Scientists are human beings - they aren’t gods. They don’t know everything, they make mistakes, and they present conflicting information. Policy makers have to weigh the risks and make decisions based on more than just incomplete scientific information.

Amy Klobuchar was found in an interview saying she *looked into the *science (her exact word) when her husband was deathly ill with corona.

end result: thankfully, he got better within 5 days. But she has never said how, even when asked on Twitter.

Finally, one interviewer (Michael Smerconish):

Amy, did he take "hydroxycholoroquine"? "I believe he did take that drug.......(then backtracks later in the interview when she realized she just ruined her VP chance)....I dont really know, would have to ask doctor, I wasnt there, that drug, or something like it"

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

exactly. Now we find the "science" about getting it from surfaces is wrong. Was anything any of these "experts" told us actually true?

Plus, this is not just a scientific issue, but also an economic and psychological one. Americans are not used to wearing masks, and it has some psychological impact when they are told they must wear one or they cant even go out of the house. All because 0.025% of the population might have died from this virus?
