So zero progress on a deal is what you're saying.

Thought China was begging for a deal...oh that game 4d chess yep got it..

"Badly run and weak companies are smartly blaming these small Tariffs instead of themselves for bad management," he tweeted. "...and who can really blame them for doing that? Excuses!"

This man's stupidity is unbelievable. He is either unbelievably stupid or he is just saying these things because he knows his supporters are stupid enough to believe it.

Over 20% in tariffs is "small"? The products these companies are importing from China are more taxed, which means they have to raise the cost. This is good management. A bad management would be not raising the cost and going bankrupt after 5 months of operating on loses.

The sole reason why manufacturing has left the US is because labor costs are too high in America, which is 90% government's fault. Trump's fault. His economic reforms were miserable. He cut few taxes here and there, but they were all offset by the raise in military spending, inflation tax, and now the tariff tax. He cut few regulations, but not nearly enough to make a difference. He doesn't have a clue about supply and demand and basic economics. His understanding of what makes a good economy is completely twisted upside down.

I think Trump might be the most economically illiterate president the US has ever had. His ego is so ginormous, and his understanding so poor, if this continues i highly doubt he would get re-elected.

He is either unbelievably stupid or he is just saying these things because he knows his supporters are stupid enough to believe it.

Democrats and Republicans BOTH support him on this. Has nothing to do with "stupidity". Congress understands what he is doing and also understands short term pain is necessary to get the U.S. weaned off of cheap Chinese everything. Trade should not be 80/ 20 in China's favor. The U.S. would gladly settle on 60/ 40 or by some miracle 50/ 50. China has a fantastic opportunity to make a deal before the rest of the world chimes in to renegotiate their trade deals with her. China has no choice, The U.S.A. holds all the cards now.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

The unstable moron in chief is getting really good at screwing his supporters. First he destroyed farmers, next came auto companies and many tech companies, now consumers are next. Needless to say, the vile orange ***** blames the victims, as is his practice. Quite interesting preparations for 2020 elections.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

China deals with the world just like they dealt with Hong Kong. Agree to a deal, then later do it the Chinese way. There are so many examples of this. China cannot be trusted.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

On a scale of extremely easy, to extremely difficult, does anyone know just how hard it is to win trade wars? Anyone?

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Quite interesting preparations for 2020 elections.

If it's a BIDEN TRUMP campaign, The Democrats just gave TRUMP another 4 years.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

The U.S.A. holds all the cards now.

If the USA holds all the cards, why haven’t they already won? Are you saying that on the scale of extremely easy to extremely difficult, trade wars are extremely easy to win?

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

I think extremely difficult as countries always serve their best interests. The Chinese, American trade deal is pretty lob-sided though if you really get into it.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Trump is done by February, and even the die-hards know it. His ONLY bragging point was the economy he inherited, and he has single-handedly, and for no reason, sunk it. He's done. He'll quit to avoid total embarrassment at the next election, and the best part is, after that, the cuffs come out.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Trump is done by February

We all have our own perceptions of truth. Do tell us the "die-hards" that know it.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

CS: "We all have our own perceptions of truth. Do tell us the "die-hards" that know it."

You do, in your heart. The man is not only a megalomaniac, but an insecure child. He's at a record low disapproval, and will not even show up for debates. The ONLY thing that might keep him going is that he knows he'll be prosecuted the minute he quits. So, he has a tough choice as a child: get absolutely destroyed in the next election and be utterly embarrassed, or quit early and go to prison. I think we all know he only wants the second term (and third, fourth, fifth if you agree to his socialist wishes) is to avoid prosecution as long as possible and abuse the power of the presidency to do so.

Very interesting article from a French perspective. Read it with an open mind.

LOL! I know, right! Only thing that Dump knows how to play is a con man. The worst president in modern history! Even Bush Jr. is crawling out of the filth asking "You miss me, yet?"

It won't be short term. And at some point even Trump cultists will realize that feeding this president's ego is not worth the price.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Trump's U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods and China's tariffs on U.S. goods wreck havoc on truckers, fisheries (China will now be buying Canadian lobsters not U.S. caught ones, and that's just the beginning), soybean farmers are losing their farms (the bailouts can't last forever), and other markets, infrastructure, and industries are following with losses because of Trump.

Trump is destroying American markets, international trade, industries, and retailers because his "America First" didn't allow for an ease in period for anyone to have Trump's so-called "American" replacement products for Chinese goods. That doesn't exist and neither do the manufacturing plants and facilities to do what, move into and start knocking out the same stuff China can do? NO! A manufacturer can't pull up stakes from China and magically move everything to America, there has to be planning and money and the means to do so - it can't happen as easily as Trump claims. Trump tried to do the same thing with Obama Care, nothing in place to replace a health care system that he didn't like that would have left millions of Americans with no health care.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The U.S.A. holds all the cards now.

Agreed, spot on. All I can here is anti-Trump bias that leaves posters with nothing left but bias and tunnel vision of a false future plastered with more Trump bias.

Here's the meat, despite US current account deficit unchanged overall, what has changed (yet never gets reported by the mainstream elite media) is the deficit with China is reducing, but gaining in other small countries.

So is there potential gains for USA in relying on smaller economies as trading partner vs relying on mostly China? Blind Freddy can see it would be better to not have to rely on China, and the benefits from these realignments flow to all countries that trade with USA as well, not just USA.

There is only so much soybean grown in the world. The world will be consuming the same amount, farmers will sow to suit coming demand. Your assertion that if China don't buy from USA then mayhem will ensue is a false narrative steeped in shortermism. USA will/can fill where another supplier has diverted its stock to China. It's a short term problem stemmed from an adversary not a reliable trading partner.

At the end of the day, in the long term, it's a no brainer that the less reliant you are on China as a trading partner, the better off you will be.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

So zero progress on a deal is what you're saying.

No. Zero progress on correcting the China trade problem is what we had during Obama's eight years.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

No.

Zero progress. Get your white flag out.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

The Chinese think they can continue playing drag the chain until the next election in 2020, both the Republicans and Democrats want changes in trade with China and better deals for America and Americans.

China isn't chugging along like Chinese propaganda is pushing, take a look at the news coming from China

Au contraire, Super. We now have China's full attention, whereas before all we had was their snickering.

Au contraire, Super. We now have China's full attention, whereas before all we had was their snickering.

You've already given up on Trump and China. Get that white flag out and wrap it around you.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

We now have China's full attention, whereas before all we had was their snickering.

On an average US consumers will pay $ 460 extra every year, with the poor paying disproportionately more.

We sure have their attention and they are not snickering.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You've already given up on Trump and China. Get that white flag out and wrap it around you

Au contraire, Super, Trump is going to have China begging for a trade deal. They cannot endure the financial destruction an eight year Trump presidency can wreak on them without a deal.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Please hit the cheating and stealing China harder, Mr. President.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Serrano:. Trump is going to have China begging for a trade deal.

OK. We will just have to wait for his first accomplishment. I'll take your word that it's right around the corner.

Until then, get the white pantsuit on.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

OK. We will just have to wait for his first accomplishment. I'll take your word that it's right around the corner.

Until then, get the white pantsuit on.

And your solution is... oh that's right, you don't have one.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

How do the tariffs work again serrano?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Trump is done by February,

Seems like liberals are saying this every month when some scandal breaks out. Lol

and even the die-hards know it.

Not a single person I know thinks that, actually it’s quite the opposite.

His ONLY bragging point was the economy he inherited,

Liberals keep peddling that low tale. Most economists and investors laugh at that.

and he has single-handedly, and for no reason, sunk it.

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/05/03/nonfarm-payrolls-april-2019.html

Since spending and wages are up and people are spending, good luck trying to take the tax cuts and peddling that fib about the economy.

He's done. He'll quit to avoid total embarrassment at the next election, and the best part is, after that, the cuffs come out.

And then liberals woke up and found it was all but just a dream. Lol

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

How do the tariffs work again serrano?

They get the full attention of the Chinese, as it more adversely affects their economy than the U.S. economy.

Got it now?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The CCP is literally at war with the USA and the West under Xi, and has been for some time. People here whining about Trump fighting back would have trouble explaining their words to their kids in the future. Crooked bankers and elites are funding the death and enslavement of millions in China, and funding their control of much of the world.

And yet, all we hear is "trump, trump trump.... from small minds.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I only wish the Trump lovers up on here were feeling the pain that the jokester in chief is inflicting with his childish behavior. But alas, like him, they don't lose anything or live in Japan and can pop off their BS,suspect support with nothing at stake.No-one has respect for those types.Probably don't even respect themselves either.Except on their keyboard by their lonesome.Pathetic as.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I only wish the Trump lovers up on here were feeling the pain that the jokester in chief is inflicting with his childish behavior.

I only wish the Trump haters up on here could get it through their heads that Americans are sick of China's cheating and stealing and we're not gonna take it anymore and we finally have a president who is doing something about it. There's nothing the Chinese dictatorship wants more than a Democrat win in 2020.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

There's nothing the Chinese dictatorship wants more than a Democrat win in 2020.

I doubt it.Trump has shown that he's beholden when it comes to money and the Chinese know this. Let him hang himself short term, because the long term has him losing hands down. He's a bankrupt six time loser and you betting on that? He doesn't have your best interests at heart and you know this. But you ain't feeling any pain hence your fake belligerence.
2 ( +2 / -0 )

Many here forget that there are many countries that are suffering from China's power play because of the money policies and government involvement in Chinese corporations and their businesses. Like the US, many other countries lost their domestic productivity because of Chinese goods artificially lowered by the Chinese subsidies and monetary policies. This trade war is a tariff war that awakened the entire world to be aware of the underhanded control of world economies by a cpountry that several decades ago was given preferential treatment by the entire world as a "developing country" and given billions in aid and still getting some aid when it is already one of the top economic nations in the world.

The only language China understands at this point is "money" that gives it power over others. And money is economy based and tariff is the only thing that affects China's economy at this point. The only problem is other countries do not have tariff power as the US does. US can "afford" to have some items go up in price. Other countries cannot afford to place tariffs on much of China's products to make a difference.

Besides their outright theft of many things from intellectual propery to patents and copyrights to making fake products, the Chinese government and many businesses in China can only feel the world anger by the loss of revenue (money) for their unfair and unethical actions.

Short of actual military war, this has been a effective awakening for China.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Many here forget that there are many countries that are suffering from China's power play because of the money policies and government involvement in Chinese corporations and their businesses.

Forget? The number 1 criticism of Trump and his handling of China is how he's completely squandered the support of his allies. Instead of Trump vs China it could have been the world vs China. But that guy simply does not understand the full weight and benefit of our alliances, and it's just such a tremendous waste.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

And yet, all we hear is "trump, trump trump.... from small minds.

Yeah, I guess all the big minds would be screaming "Hillary, Hillary, Hillary........pathetic
