Exactly what?
A servile, brainless, gutless excuse of a person?

As long as Moscow Mitch continues to block legislation, it's pretty unlikely much can be done. The NRA's Murdering Mitch and the GOP are helping Trump continue to undermine the principles the US was built on by giving the executive even greater powers, while both McConnell and Trump pad their and their families' bank accounts.

According to the information available O'Brien is a more servile version of Bolton.
As long he knows who the master is and does what he is expected to do he should be safe for 6 months.
Doesn't matter if the country is going to the dogs.
lincolnman
Hired now.....
Fired in six months....
He's a nut-job, voted for Hillary, can't keep his moth shut, the absolute worst...

O'Brien's appointment is another Trump attempt to get more support and more money from Utah's richest plus their rich co-religionists across the country, including Romney. Trump's approved opening up national lands in Utah for the financial gains of coal, oil and gas extractors, plus ranchers. He's helping Utah's .01% get wealthier, at the expense of the environment. While he and the GOP do NOTHING and even sabotage (see McConnell's congressional blockings) any measures to support conservation and alternatives to burning fossil fuels.
PTownsend
Implement? They're trying to get Congress to discuss proposals, which is something fundamental to the US republic. Trump's supporters see him as Herr Diktator in their push for making the US even more authoritarian.
CrazyJoe
I'm not sure Otto Warmbier's parents would agree.
An interesting choice, as O'Brien is a hostage negotiator, and is about to become a hostage.
lincolnman
Gee Trumpers, he worked in both the Bush and OBAMA administrations, worked at the UN, helped Romney 's campaign.....sound like a RINO and a DC swamp creature to you?????
PTownsend
Euphemism for 'keeping the US economy strong by further subsidizing defense industries (aka socialism for the richest) while ignoring problems like healthcare, infrastructure, etc., things that can lessen the hundreds of other problems working- and middle class Americans are facing'.
Trump knows Mormons tend to vote Republican, and appointing O'Brien helps keep their support.

No it doesn't.
The job of a NSA is not to blindly follow the President.
The NSA should have an independent thinking ability, something Donny doesn't want in his people.
Many people have said it, but Bolton was right in criticizing Trump for hosting the Taliban.
That too so close to 9/11.
The one time Bolton gave sensible advice, he got fired!!!!!
ulysses
No it doesn't.
Allowed????? In case you forgot, America is not a dictatorship, citizens are not required to adhere to a certain form or way of thinking. Independent thinking is the very foundation of democracy. If you have an NSA who doesn't have an independent thinking , but just toes his masters' line, however traitorous that might be , you are hitting at the very foundations of a democratic state.
SuperLib
I like the diplomat angle. It should help to control Donny's disasterous impulses. Or not.
ulysses
No it really doesn't .
When you work for the government, you have a responsibility towards the country . Sure your boss is the President , but you cannot be a blind follower or a servile , brainless excuse if a person.
Bolton, however despicable he was, at least stood up for what he believed was right.
Cannot say the same for the lapdogs who pretend to be public officials now.
Sneezy
This isn't true, but it is revealing of the pathology of the Republican mind that desperately wants the US to be a dictatorship.
ulysses
No it doesn't.
The President can hire and fire people at his will, but that doesn't mean these people should give up their thinking ability for the sake of loyalty.
Such expectations probably are suitable for North Korea or Saudi Arabia, but definitely not America.
ulysses
LOL, Since you ignore the rest of the post.
ROFL.

I've said this before, but:
You seem to have this problem with confusing whether or not one can do something with whether or not one should.
For example, when people say “Trump threatening to fire the Attorney General if they don’t interfere with the Special Counsel is obstruction of justice”, you respond “he can fire who he likes”. This is true, he can threaten to fire the Attorney General – but he shouldn’t.
This is like if your family confronted you for being an alcoholic, and said “your drinking is negatively affecting your work, your health, your relationships and your mind”, and you responded “it is legal for me to drink a bottle of whiskey every day”. That is also true, but it totally misses the point - you should not drink a bottle of whiskey every day, even if you legally can.

The Netflix investigation would be over quickly, to be fair.
Findings: Netflix offered the Obamas money to do a show.
Evidence: We asked them and they told us, and the documents corroborate it.
Mind you, Trump is such a big thief and so lousy at deal making that I'm not surprised he doesn't understand that people exchange goods and services for money.
Sneezy
It isn't.

I've been agreeing with what O'Brien has been saying re' USA under Obama, but on such a monumental occasion as being appointed to the top job in security, why is he so silent.
I hope his talent doesn't have to be suppressed to accomodate Trump's ego.

You think there is no profit or power in causing chaos?? You should play more board games. Its what half the elite think they are doing with our world.
bass4funk
Yes, it really does.
Yes, I understand that and everyone that works in politics understands that, but you are working for the president, the president is your boss and the president can fire you, you can always see your opinions, and they can be struck down if the president doesn’t like it or if the president doesn’t agree with them, but you serve at the pleasure of the president, Comey found out. It’s really not that hard to figure out, if you don’t like or agree with the president, then you can always leave, it’s that simple.
Concerned Citizen
Hopefully O'Brien
will be on the same page as President Trump regarding foreign policy: Avoid war, reach out to and negotiate peacefully with potentially hostile nations, etc. 'Blessed are the peacemakers'
bass4funk
Yes, it does.
I’m not disagreeing with you on any of that, you’re glossing over the real point, but the point is the president has the absolute final say and it really doesn’t matter what anyone else says, you can investigate the president and the president has the absolute and constitutional right to stop in investigation on himself, that’s his power he doesn’t have to listen to anything anyone has to say and he can replace them, that is his choice and that is his constitutional right. Bolton can’t stand up to the president, I wouldn’t expect any less, but at the same time I wouldn’t expect less of a present to say, I don’t like your ideas get out of here, done.
bass4funk
Yes, it does.
Exactly!
bass4funk
That’s not what I asked you, I asked you where is the quote about what you said referring to the comment about Obama?
Serrano
I like the diplomat angle. It should help to control Donny's disasterous impulses.
You mean like not retaliating when the Iranians downed a U.S. drone? Or when the North Koreans started launching short range missiles again? Those kind of disastrous impulses?
bass4funk
What, like the Green New Deal? Diktator, no, we saw that in the last President
Some people say that about Presidents aides, depends on which political fence you belong and who annoys you.
bass4funk
Not boots on the ground kind of attack, but precision strikes can be done if need be, let’s hope it doesn’t come to this, as for attacking Iran, it would depend.
bass4funk
Yes, it does.
Of course you’re allowed to have the independent thinking, but in the end you are working for the president and you can overstep in line follow or you can quit and seek employment somewhere else, you work for the president and not the other way around, the president can fire you Or you can give your resignation, those are your options.
I don’t disagree with that.
Well, that wasn’t the reason, they were other factors involved in it, but he in the president couldn’t see Eye 2 Eye he was more hawkish and the president isn’t and the president always has the final say and Bolton doesn’t.
bass4funk
That has nothing to do with the president hiring or firing people. And if you want to complain about someone not listening to the supreme court, please explain what you just said to the Democrats, hope they listen. Especially to the idiot Schiff.
Where was the Quote? Please show us.

bass4funk
Yes, when you work for any president you are exactly that And if you don’t like it you can step down or you’ll be fired, but you serve at the pleasure of the president when you sign on.
bass4funk
Ahhh, so a war is better then? That’s definitely what Bolton wants. But if Bolton unloads on Trump......who cares? Ok, maybe the sycophants on CNN and msnbc do, other than that, No one cares.
Ok, the Camp David thing was bad, duly noted, everything else is fine.
Actually, the other way around, Bolton is out, got stomped into a mud hole.
bass4funk
NO, flip flop, I love Bolton, I’m a bit of a hawkish guy, but that’s not what Trump wants, so be it, Bolton serves at the pleasure of the President and they both couldn’t see eye to eye, he got tossed, simple as that.
I was hoping, but Trump doesn’t want regime change and neither do most liberals so.....
bass4funk
Given what the Democrats are trying to implement, these radical policies and I mean radical, of course he’s gonna block them.
Murdering Mitch? Moscow Mitch...gee, you sure got him. ROFL
Blacklabel
Seems no one has gotten their talking points given to them yet about why this new appointee is no good.
bass4funk
Ok, so we should forsake the military (great idea...No fantastic idea for China, Russia and North Korea) do an Obama and let the military go to waste....just paint a bullseye on the US why don’t you? As for infrastructure you can’t get the Democrats to do anything, because they are too busy trying to impeach the president, anything else they’re not interested in legislating or going bipartisan.
What? Dear lord....
