“... promises to balance the budget in 15 years.”

Gens Y and Z: you’re screwed.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this trick, here's how the Republican tax cuts for the rich con game works:

GOP: "Trillions in tax cuts for the rich will pay for themselves!"

[1 year later]

GOP: "OMG! We can’t afford Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security or anything else (except the military), look at these deficits!"

14 ( +15 / -1 )

Space Force....that should be enough to remove this moron from office

13 ( +14 / -1 )

That photo made me think of a messed up version of Abbey Road.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

How about money for disaster relief, for education, hospitals, areas of poverty and deprivation?

You know, funding that can actually help people rather than all this tinpot dictator stuff.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Watched a couple of videos of skid row homeless place in LA recently. Just 300million dollars would give homes and jobs to all. Trillions on nukes in space, where there is:

As of January 2019, more than 128 million bits of debris smaller than 1 cm (0.4 in), about 900,000 pieces of debris 1–10 cm, and around 34,000 of pieces larger than 10 cm were estimated to be in orbit around the Earth.

Says CrazyJoe with the military jet avatar.

Space Force....that should be enough to remove this moron from office

Yes, let's let the Russians and the Chinese take over space. Last month, Trump signed a directive to establish the service as part of the Air Force.  No good?

The. Worst. President. Ever.

No, the best president ever.

Melania be looking good.

My, he's certainly put on weight.

My, he's certainly put on weight.

He's not looking very well these days. Still, at least he hasn't been separated from his family and caged.

Yet.

Once the US secures the vast amounts of oil from Venezuela, millions of low-skilled communists will storm the gates of the US Mexico border, mostly with temporary funding from Iran.

There. Needs. To. Be. 2. Yes. 2. Walls!

BUILD THE WALLS!

Once the US secures the vast amounts of oil from Venezuela, millions of low-skilled communists will storm the gates of the US Mexico border, mostly with temporary funding from Iran.

Good parody, if a bit obvious. Let's run with it for a laugh, though. How exactly will the Iranian-funded communists launch their forthcoming attack if they're struggling with all that low-skilled stuff? Obviously, they will be hitching a ride on one of Kim's missiles. Innit.

I remember the days before Trump when the right were rattling on non-stop about out of control spending. It was deafening after Bush 2 left office and mysteriously stopped after Trump assumed office.

A space force? Cool! Screw fiscal conservatism. I’m going to buy a Darth Vader mask.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I dislike Trump as do the rest of (or the majority of) the posters here.

The "Space Force" budget is not a joke nor anything to laugh at. I do not often agree with Serrano but I do agree that given the increasing dependency on satellites for everything (i.e. GPS, communications, etc.) and further increase in this dependency as 5G technology evolves space will (sadly enough) actually become an additional potential battlefield.

For me this is a sad reflection of human nature however although I feel it is sad it is something that cannot be ignored. The "Space Force" idea was in the works and being studied and kicked around before Trump came into office. It was debated making this a separate branch of the Armed Forces.

In the end the Budget is based on statues enacted by Congress and as the article states Trump will need to ask Congress to put these into the budget.

I am interesting to see what will happen with the "Space Force" budget.

The big, big, big, (and abused) problem within military spending is the "Use it or Lose it" philosophy.

https://warontherocks.com/2018/01/reforming-use-lose-problem-defense-acquisition/

The article has a graph on military contract obligations issued by FY week which tells the whole story (and also is indicative there is unnecessary spending occurring).

This is such a huge contributor to waste and it trickles down to defense contractors who also have to rationalize their budgets. I saw this first hand during the cold war era and I do not think things have changed much (actually from what I hear have gotten worse).

LOL! What isn't mentioned in this article!

Trump budget to include $100M for Ivanka's women's fund

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-budget-100m-daughter-ivankas-project-120957700--politics.html;_ylt=Awr9CKnSbYRcsUEAjDxXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTByb2lvbXVuBGNvbG8DZ3ExBHBvcwMxBHZ0aWQDBHNlYwNzcg--

In a statement to The Associated Press, Ivanka Trump noted that Friday was International Women's Day and stressed the initiative was "working towards our goal of economically empowering 50 million women in developing countries by 2025." She says the budget includes "a new $100 million commitment" for the fund.

I wonder how much will go in to her and her families bank account from the $100 Million. Let me guess, the events will be held at Trump hotels and resorts around the world.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Another thing.......her aspirations to be a major player behind the scenes will be all for nothing if her husband and father are shown to be failures, and their criminal activities exposed.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Trump is starting another arms race and he wants the "allies" to fund it. The Western Wimps (Western Powers) need to regain their sovereignty.

President Trump Hits Back Hard At TV Pundit Ann Coulter: “Wacky Nut Job”

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/president-trump-hits-back-hard-222440907.html

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The official said that the president's plan promises to balance the budget in 15 years.

So the farcical concern about the deficit and debt resumes. The Left slams Trump for the budget deficit just as the Right did under Obama. The president of whatever party promises to slash spending or raise taxes on the wealthy but the result is the same - deficits as far as the eye can see.

GW Bush was the only president to actually present a proposal to reform one of the entitlement programs which is the only way to stop the perpetual deficits. His Social Security reform proposal was blocked without debate by Pelosi at the start of his second term. So Bush gave up.

Neither party will face up to the fact that the non-discretionary spending problem must be addressed before the crisis forces severe social unrest. They know that any substantial attempts to do so will result in certain electoral defeat.

How can we afford the social programs? Simple, reduce military/defense spending a couple of percentage points. It would avoid the US government wasting money on projects with bad products like some fighter jets. It will still be greater than the top 5 Superpower nations in the world.

Trump's budget seeks funds for border wall, Space Force

No. Just flat out no. If you want your wall, pay for it out of your own pocket, and build it yourself with your own hands. As for the Space Force: get real. You're just wasting money.

The official said that the president's plan promises to balance the budget in 15 years.

15 years after which millennium? Because you're not balancing any time this century with your insane ideas. You want to balance the budget? Sell off all your golf courses. That alone will bring in enough money to balance the budget.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Tax the rich. The poor need money, the rich have it. Take it. If it’s not taken in tax it will be taken in a revolution.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Also: Trump just called Ann Coulter a crazy whack job. Now watch as bass and other far right cultists claim that Coulter isn’t a conservative icon, never was, that they’ve never supported her, and that she’s actually a liberal.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Tax the rich

That doesn't work, Sneezy. Eventually you run out of other people's money. Didn't you know that?

"America will never be a socialist country."

What's funny is Trump is cleaner than all of DC, which is why they're after him.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

@blacksabbath

Is Trump really the worst President ever?

There are at least 33 Presidents that were much worst than Trump. Then again I am speaking from the African American side of me.

There were 15 Presidents that allowed Slavery to continue. There were 35 Presidents that allowed segregation.

Even FDR was a horrible President. The hero of the 1936 Olympics, Jesse Owens, was allowed to stay in the same hotel as everyone else in Germany. He was welcomed by German and European citizens. He wasn't even allowed to see or talk to the U.S. President. FDR did not invite a single black or latino athlete to the White House. During the celebration parties, Black athletes still had to use the service entrance for staff. But Trump is the worst President.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

That doesn't work, Sneezy. Eventually you run out of other people's money. Didn't you know that?

What do you think of Trump piling on more debt?

Are you okay with that? It’s what socialists get accused of doing.

I thumbed up Wolfpack’s comment. He/she is at least consistent.

That is what each President added to the national debt from Clinton to Trump. Not a single one of them spent less than America made.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Putting politics and personal views aside...

Given the current status of the world, his requests do make sense.

One must prioritize international relationships and trends in all areas from economics to religion and view everything from a universal perspective, and view what actions are needed from the perspective of a leader of the country sworn to protect the people of his country. To protect means to defend against "threats" from all and in all areas.

US Debt during each President

Debut has only accumulated in the US.. The numbers you are showing don't. I don't think those numbers are the US debt. Maybe deficits?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@Strangerland

That is how much each president added to the US debt. Dwight Eisenhower was the last president to spend less than the country made. It means each president has been adding billions or trillions to the debt.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How can we afford the social programs? Simple, reduce military/defense spending a couple of percentage points.

Great and China and Russia increase theirs, sounds good to them.....I mean, me.

It would avoid the US government wasting money on projects with bad products like some fighter jets.

Yes, let’s downgrade while all of our adversaries upgrade their military hardware.

It will still be greater than the top 5 Superpower nations in the world.

How do liberals calculate this stuff. I see now why our adversaries love Democrats to become Presidents. It makes it all easier for them.

Like Putin... who actually wanted Trump to be president.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

That is what each President added to the national debt from Clinton to Trump. Not a single one of them spent less than America made.

Technically presidents don't spend money, Congress does. Congress needs to cut foreign aid, especially to countries that are not allied with us, like Pakistan. Over the last 15 years the U.S. has wasted $33 billion on aid to Pakistan, way more than enough for the wall. Credit to the Trump administration for cutting $300 million to Pakistan last year.

I understand. We need someone to try to bridge the gap between our geopolitical adversaries.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Thereby making it much easier for them.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Serrano

Congress doesn’t do the spending.

The President drafts the budget, congress approves, then begins the allocation out of the president’s budget assignments. Then congress approves that. Lastly it is sent to the President and he does the final review before it becomes the official budget.

Afterwards, the President and Congress go create numerous measures based on the budget. All of which the President must decide whether to sign or not to sign meaning that the President ultimately does the spending.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@Serrano

also Trump said $33B in aid to Pakistan. The real number is between $8B and $9B in aid. Trump factored in the defense spending costs of our troops. Which, when you count his defense spending it actually placed him right in line with all the other presidents since Bush’s second term in office.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Thereby making it much easier for them.

I would beg to differ, you need to pay more attention of what comes out of the liberals mouths, can’t even keep up with the nuttiness of diatribes they say.

And did he? Or was he lying about that too? Which is it?

Funny, that liberals now want to take the word of Putin all of a sudden whereas two years ago they wouldn’t have believed a word he said, why the change?

Is Trump pulling America out based on a lie? It's all making things very easy for Putin. Even his relationships with European nations are on the up while America's under Trump are on the way down.

Thank God.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Funny, that liberals now want to take the word of Putin all of a sudden whereas two years ago they wouldn’t have believed a word he said, why the change?

Answer the question. Was he lying about increasing nukes? Yes or no? Simple. And believe me... I haven't changed anything. As far as European nations go... Most likely they trust him more than they trust Trump.

Thank God.

You can do better than that.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

And believe me... I haven't changed anything. As far as European nations go... Most likely they trust him more than they trust Trump.

That’s ok, but the funny thing is, they want to do business with the US, they know where their bread is buttered.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

That’s ok, but the funny thing is, they want to do business with the US, they know where their bread is buttered.

It's a big market. They'd be silly not to want to... but they also know that under Trump that is much more difficult. They want it, they don't need it.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Exactly. At least... that's what Putin wanted Americans to believe... just another way he helped Trump get elected.

Putin didn't help get Trump elected - Trump did that by himself. Mueller still can'r find any collusion.

No he didn't.

Saying what amounts to "if you don't vote for Trump there will be WWIII" is not collusion, but it does send a strong message. Mueller doesn't need to find evidence of collusion for that to be true. Still... please fill us in on the findings of the unfinished investigation in full detail.

One Lefty says:

Haaa Nemui: Unless you actually believe there is a radical Marxist socialist party in America.

Another Lefty says:

Sneezy: Tax the rich. The poor need money, the rich have it. Take it. If it’s not taken in tax it will be taken in a revolution.

Bass has outed the Marxists. It’s amazing how simplistic the thinking is about the reality of America’s budget situation. The US defense budget is roughly $750 billion per year. The annual budget deficit is about $1.2 trillion. In the alternative universe in which it is possible to cut defense spending in half, the annual budget deficit will still be nearly $800 billion. Then add in the fact that the wealthiest 20% of Americans pay more than 85% of taxes.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wsj.com/amp/articles/top-20-of-americans-will-pay-87-of-income-tax-1523007001

The reality is that America’s tax system is already one of the most progressive on the planet.

The populists on the Left - which is the mainstream of the Democrats presidential candidates - is living in a fantasy world in which the wealthiest citizens can be utilized as a funding source for their social “justice “ goals. It’s just as detached from reality as the establishment Rights contention that uncontrolled deficits and debt are manageable.

Traitorous Russian agents do not receive FUNDS -- they receive IMPRISONMENT.

yet Trump still sticks his mushroon in other cabbage patches.

Come on. All this moralizing was settled back when Bill Clinton was supported by the entire Dem establishment and the mainstream press after he was outed as a serial philanderer and a credibly accused sexual abuser. He was also credibly accused of at least one rape and yet the leader of the National Organization for Women wrote an op-ed in the New York Times. Another New York Times “journalist” even offered to service Bill Clinton because she supported his political positions.

If Hillary is willing to stay with a credibly accused rapist and still get the Democrat party’s nomination for president, a fling with a porn star is a nothinggurger - particularly since leading female Dem candidates for president in 2020 want to legalize sex work.

Jealous that he was sticking his mushroom in another cabbage patch all the while his wife was at home looking after his newborn son, hardly, actually the opposite, pitty. Maybe Trumpsters can do the same to their own wives/girlfriends and see if it makes them feel jealous/proud, certainly have no problems with their messiah doing the same.

Whoops! This article makes no reference to money "running out" because - as I said - that's not how money works.

It honestly baffles me how regularly the far right on this website post articles that they clearly haven't read. Bass posts pro-Mueller articles assuming they're anti-Mueller articles based on a headline. Serrano posts a five paragraph "article" paid for by big business to show that money can "run out" when it says nothing of the sort.

I don't know where in Japan you have to go for English literacy lessons, but wherever it is, that's where you need to go.
