trump: if pardoning manafort keeps me out of prison, i'm going to do it. i don't give a damn about the optics.

Trump might actually have to pardon him if Mueller doesn't get the lie from Manafort that he wants concerning Assange, and he faces life in prison for evading some taxes.

Any collusion yet?

-17 ( +0 / -17 )

Heh. Mueller knows Manafort is lying & can prove it. He also knows that Manafort was in constant contact with PotUS in order to get their stories straight.

Trump submits his answers telling the same old lies as Manafort. So Mueller now has proof that they are both lying.

Mueller then blows it out of the water at court, that he knows Manafort lied under the plea deal.

Sounds about right.

Good article on pardons:.

He's already pardoned people who are clearly criminals and human rights' violators, so of course he'll clear someone who helps save him from prosecution himself.

"Good article on pardons"

They forgot about SCOTUS. So much for overturning the pardon.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

He'd perjure himself in a New York minute, that's why all his lawyers left

The House will protect Mueller and even have him speak publicly if Trump goes off the rails. Audits, tax returns, the world will know it all

You sound petrified, Cochise. Heh. Oh my indeed...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

This is getting to sound more and more like a scene from the movie, "God Father"

You can almost hear Don "Trump" Corleone with a heavy Italian accent asking if  Paul "the Pigeon" Manafort is keeping his mouth shut telling his underlying you know what to do if he talks.

What's growing more likely is not whether Trump will go down but how. A cornered beast is dangerous.

In the so-called 'World' news section of this paper every item is about Trump. I think the man is awful, but there's a lot more going on in the world and not everyone is American.

Sid, I emphasize. I'm barely old enough to remember Watergate - the hearings knocked aside all child-friendly programming for weeks, which really annoyed me and my siblings (we had to go outside and play instead). But this is bigger than Watergate. There is much going on in the world, and it is being reported, even on JT. But developments on this story are important.

We'll see whether or not Trump even can pardon Manafort after Mueller exposes Trump's actions during Manafort's sentencing.

So what happened to that Manafort definitely met Assange at the embassy story?

That's a good question, and with a few minutes you could google and find the answer. Let us know what you find.

Also let us know who you are railing against, because you seem to be angry at someone, except you aren't clear on who you are angry at, and why it is they at whom you are angry.

trump: if pardoning manafort keeps me out of prison, i'm going to do it. i don't give a damn about the optics.

The Democrats sure don’t care, so the President at this point doesn’t need to either. I would push that in Mueller’s face as well. Make your move.

Totally agree but ... readership demographics etc.

Sadly, the madness in America affects us all.

I found the story was false, as Manafort never even travelled to UK. Politico is saying “the Russians” tricked the Guardian into printing the story.

Ok, and again I ask:

let us know who you are railing against, because you seem to be angry at someone, except you aren't clear on who you are angry at, and why it is they at whom you are angry.

Fake news pushes plenty of narratives.

Nobody's done more for veterans than Trump, for example

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/veterans-affairs-dept-tells-congressional-staffers-it-won-t-repay-n941491?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_np

This is why there's a wee bit of suspicion when it comes to Republican anger at what the libs/Dems done.

No you found the story false, because it doesnt your Trumpy narrative. Manafort definitely did visit London.

Politico is saying “the Russians” tricked the Guardian into printing the story.

That is not what Politico says. The article presents a scenario in which the Guardian authors were duped, but the politico article presents no evidence this actually happened.

Any proof that Manafort had a meeting with Julian Assange? No?

"What's growing more likely is not whether Trump will go down but how"

You're going to be sorely disappointed, Laguna.

Should be good evidence of obstruction of justice if he pardons him. And Manafort would go right back in front of a grand jury anyway, at which point he would be charged with perjury.

So much for overturning the pardon.

WRONG!!!

The special counsel team that prosecuted Manafort on federal financial charges related to his lobbying work in Ukraine has laid down what one source familiar with the case called “a trail of bread crumbs” that could allow city or state prosecutors from New York – where Manafort has maintained multiple residences, including a condominium in Trump Tower – to pursue charges of their own.

“The President of the United States has the power to issue pardons for crimes against the United States,” said John Moscow, a former prosecutor with the New York District Attorney’s office. “He cannot pardon people for crimes against states.”

(news source)

Again..

“He cannot pardon people for crimes against states.”

Sorry Trump fans. If the local prosecutors get a hold of Manafort nothing Trump can do unless he becomes a dictator. Those local prosecutors can be nasty. Don't underestimate them. They might be gunning for high political aspirations and what is a better case than this. Can't wait for the drama. Now about those Trump boys (who's next???)

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump sure surrounds himself with Garbage. Say what you want about Obama (being born in Kenya, or whatever) but no one around him was arrested. Are the Trump boys in Mueller's list? Is it Hillary's fault this is all happening? Not Trump's fault? Whose fault is this? The deep state and Hillary?

Trump sure surrounds himself with Garbage.

Birds of a feather flock together.

If Trump "pardons" Manafort, that'll be one turkey too many and might be the final straw that breaks the camel's back bringing down the whole rotten, shaky edifice of Trump Inc. Obstruction of justice is a legal point he has never been able to understand and a temptation his hubris is (let's hope) unable to resist.

Sadly this whole "Did they"/"Didnt they" thing makes a mockery of the US... such a thing wouldn't happen in Russia or China... so who wins ?

Michael Cohen in court: Trump ex-lawyer admits lying to Congress

Oh my.

Check out the pic of Cohen leaving court he looks very worried. A burnt out shell of a man.

Trump's instant shrieking retort to the latest reports would indicate Cheeto is also nipping his nether regions together!

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Is everyone forgetting that those State charges in New York on Manafort are still in play? Those cannot be pardoned by the president!

He won't get off that easily!

Mueller eyes Ivanka and Don Jr.’s work on Trump Tower Moscow

(News Flash)

Looks like the little Trumpettes might be in trouble. Wow, the scam family becomes more and more obvious as time goes by. Good thing Tiffany and Barron are staying out of the spot light and bless their hearts. But Eric, Don, and ivanka have to kiss their daddy's butt or bye bye inheritance.
