But the contrast in economic performance between the two presidents is undeniable. Obama’s multitrillion-dollar spend-and-borrow policies produced 2 percent growth. In his final year, Obama handed off to Trump an economy that was limping at 1.6 percent.

After only 18 months in office, Trump has elevated growth to 3 percent on an annual rate and the latest projections are that the growth rate for the second and third quarter (which ends Sept. 30) will be over 4 percent. One might say all it took to get the economy really crackling was getting Obama out of office.

What a bunch of BS and bunk. Obama had a 5.5% growth in 2nd Qtr 14 and a 5% in the 3rd Qtr - all while trying to fix an economy crashed by Bush and his greedy Repub Wall St buddies. Donnie has never had anything over 3.5% in the 4th Qtr of 17. And contrary to the post above, Trump's has never been over 4%. We'll be waiting your apology.

https://www.bea.gov/news/glance

GDP for 2019: 1st Qtr 3.1, 2nd Qtr 2.0, 3rd Qtr 2.1 and the 4th Qtr expected to be less than 2% - how's that for a trend? Some "cracking", huh...

Party time.

Jamie Dimon, CEO of Morgan Chase - Wall Street Top 1 Percenter and whose company was right in the middle of the crash of 2007-8 with their consolidated debt obligations. Oh yea, the Wall Street fat cats are ready to take down the economy again with their Repub buddy Donnie. Party time! Sure, for the fats cats - and nothing but the shaft for ordinary Americans - just like 2007/8. You know, the last time we had a Repub President.

You idiotic narcissist, Donny. Davos isn't an economic summit. He again manages to say nothing about the issues at hand,

For example?

only embarrassing himself and the US by being arrogant, dismissive and completely showing disregard for the realities of science,

I don’t think he cares if people think he’s being embarrassed or not, thankfully.

which go over well with his cultish fools, but making up his own stories is juvenile, damn stupid and dangerous

Yeah, some might think that, but we all have our opinions.

Most of which was to jump start an economy that the GOP let Wall Street run into the ground. Without that stimulus, Trump wouldn't be able to crow about "his" economic numbers.

Anyway, Obama is gone thankfully and no people can once again enjoy their lives reap the benefits of growing prosperity.

Europe is just jealous because they have no plan on how to rev up their economies. At least Trump took a risk, tell me one leader in Europe that has taken a risk? European leaders are just sucking the life out of their people. Also Europe hates optimism, they have been pessimists for centuries.

Donald Trump - making America grate again.....

America is great again, been there lately?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

We needed Trump, going back at least 20 years. Others have done nothing but managed a gradual decline in the US economy, education, transportation...list goes on and on.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Trump is consistently delusional.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

significantly less than the $4.3 trillion President Barack Obama added from January 2009 to November 1, 2011.

Most of which was to jump start an economy that the GOP let Wall Street run into the ground. Without that stimulus, Trump wouldn't be able to crow about "his" economic numbers.

Here's another fun fact for you:

S&P rise in Trump's first three years: 42.2%

S&P rise in Obama's first three years: 56.2%

2 ( +5 / -3 )

He's already there. Look at the Trump socialist farming policy. He gave the soya farmers more money than they lost over his China Trade War. Trump can give entitlements when it suits his objectives.

Absolutely true - and the Trumpers here admitted it several months ago - just go through their archive. You'll see them say socialism is good...when Donnie is doling it out...

Trump policies have added about $4 trillion to the National Debts which has topped ¥20 trillion under his leadership and if he gets another five years, it will top the $30 trillion level.

Hey, he bankrupted six companies, now he'll bankrupt his first country...of course his money will be safe in Putin's banks...

Wait a minute! I always thought the Republicans hated debt. They were always going through the roof about it under both Clinton and Obama, but now it's OK?

Boy is that ever true - talk about a monumental flip-flop. The Repubs, but especially the Tea Party nuts, went in apoplectic on the deficit - yelling, screaming, ranting.... Anyone heard any screaming from these hypocrites lately? The largest deficit in our country's history and they get lock-jaw... Convenient, huh...

1 ( +4 / -3 )

"Trump policies have added about $4 trillion to the National Debt which has topped ¥20 trillion under his leadership . . . "

Trump hasn't added $4 trillion, it's closer to $3 trillion. And, oh my...

From January 20, 2017, to November 1, 2019 Trump piled $3.1 trillion onto the debt, amounting to a 16% increase. That's significantly less than the $4.3 trillion President Barack Obama added from January 2009 to November 1, 2011.

https://www.businessinsider.com/national-debt-deficit-trump-how-it-compares-obama-bush-clinton-2019-11

That includes rebuilding our military which Obama neglected, and funding for southern border security which was also neglected.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

So you're admitting the economic numbers are good :D

Of course. Some are good.

And some are not so good.

And none of them are the best ever.

And Trump is a liar.

I never heard any liberals complain about Democrats or money spent by the previous administration

The Obama administration left the country in an extremely better position financially than they received it. Something Pubs haven't been able to do for 60 years now.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

President Obama - taking his revenge by living in Trumpers heads 24/7 for 11 years now...

Like Trump living in liberals heads. Lol, relax.....

Tell your fellow Trumper - he's the one that went on the Obama rant - 11 years - wow....sweet revenge...

It's the same every day, they just can't wrap their heads around 52 USC, 30121...

Never convicted and especially now from the looks of it, will never be based on the lack of strong overwhelming evidence.

Yea, you asked what crime, and I gave you one. Instead if admitting you were wrong, you dodge... Want another one? Read Fox News...

The world did not love obama, only the dumb left fools loved him.

Bingo!

I guess you're speaking of Neo-Nazi's, white supremacists and other "very fine people"....you know, all those folks at Trump rallies...

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Yes and let’s allow the Democrats with their socialist entitlements to bankrupt the country by more income redistribution, regulations and sink the economy to about $33 trillion. Sounds great.

The current US economy is currently worth a little more than $20 trillion. So you're saying that the economy would grow by $13 trillion under a Democratic President. You've convinced me!

@rgcivilian1

The Iranian nuclear question is a toughie. Luckily for the Don, the Iranians are still honoring the agreement which Obama made with them because the other countries around the world are still following its terms of agreement, with or without the U.S. Ironic, that even though the rest of the world is on board with Obama's nuclear deal with Iran, the U.S. isn't because of Trump. However, if the Iranians ever feel like giving the U.S. and the world the finger, they can easily restart the nuclear program and we'll find out that this problem is worse than it is now. 2 bad choices and trying to choose the less of 2 evils is debatable . . . an Iran with nukes or an Iran without them. Obama felt that an Iran without nukes was the less of 2 evils, but Trump, apparently, thinks otherwise.

TRUMP: “We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had in the history of our country

Annual growth rates compared:

Late 1990s--over 4% for four years straight (Clinton, Democrat)

2018--2.9% (Trump's best annual)

2015--2.9% (Obama's best annual)

Trump's best quarterly--3.5%

Obama's best quarterly--5.5%

TRUMP: "Since my election, America has gained over seven million jobs."

Trump--a little over 7 million added in past three years

Obama--7.8 million added in final three years

TRUMP: "For the first time in decades, we're no longer concentrating wealth in the hands of a few,"

Fact: wealth inequality has increased under Trump.

Trump is a liar.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Of course. Everyone laughs at him behind his back, except for the right-wing in America

I don't think the other NATO countries are laughing too much now that they have to pony up more for their own defense. Or China, now that Trump has negotiated a deal much more favorable to the U.S.

Too easy! :D

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

I suppose like his six bankruptcies and failed uni?

Don't forget the failed Trump Steaks, lol. He still came out way ahead :D

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Asked whether Trump would tune in to the impeachment trial

All Trump did was make sure Zelensky was the real deal and a true corruption fighter before releasing U.S. taxpayer paid lethal aid in the form of anti-tank missiles that can stop Russian tanks to Ukraine.

Abusing his power and obstructing Congress my rear end.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Trump says he's loves free money, even to be paid for loans. I suppose like his six bankruptcies and failed uni?

I never heard any liberals complain about Democrats or money spent by the previous administration, so I guess when we get a socialist in the WH one (doubt it) you guys will be absolutely silent on this issue. If the country goes into debt concerning climate change, liberals will be content with that, anything else is abysmal to them. We got your number.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I never even think about him, and I voted for him twice. He only pops up in my head when liberals try to claim he is still responsible for our economy. or when they are trying to explain away why something is orangemanbad and I remember hearing or seeing that Obama did the exact same thing with full liberal approval and praise.

President Obama - taking his revenge by living in Trumpers heads 24/7 for 11 years now...

@stormcrow: You're spot on! Can you imagine what would have happened had Trump won in 2008 instead of Obama?

Sure can, the Iranians never would have received the funding to continue that useless war in the Middle East and put with the "Death to America" chants.

D

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

Did they laugh at him again?

Of course. Everyone laughs at him behind his back, except for the right-wing in America. That means 99% of humanity.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Hopefully Trump'll lose in 2020 before he gets a chance to do it again and do it again at America's expense.

Yes and let’s allow the Democrats with their socialist entitlements to bankrupt the country by more income redistribution, regulations and sink the economy to about $33 trillion. Sounds great.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

American economy is driven by the need to buy thing, it not a day, that go by that an American, do not need to purchase something out of need for their very survival, since most American do not have money to put themselves in a grave, the responsibility rest on other, even in death, you still will have to spend for your final resting place

1 ( +1 / -0 )

"I'm the king of debt." . . . Donald J. Trump

Yeah, and you're also the king of bankruptcies. How many times has this guy declared bankruptcy? 5 times? 6 times?

Ah . . . Only in America.

Hopefully Trump'll lose in 2020 before he gets a chance to do it again and do it again at America's expense.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Did they laugh at him again?

“It's disgraceful,” Trump said of the proceedings.

Yep, the last three years sure have - due to your criminal conduct...

His speech amounted to an election-year pitch to all those he referred to as “hardworking, ordinary citizens” of the U.S. who “felt neglected, betrayed, forgotten.”

Sure, that trillion dollar tax cut for the Top 1% sure helped out all those "hardworking ordinary citizens"...

Trump said the world must “reject the perennial prophets of doom and their predictions of the apocalypse.”

Hey Donnie, get off the golf course and visit Australia...

Asked whether Trump would tune in to the impeachment trial, White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in an email that Trump has a “full day” in Davos “but will be briefed by staff periodically.”

Full day - at the nearest strip club...

The Trump Comic Show - and all the other world leasers are laughing...

@fglenn

You're spot on! Can you imagine what would have happened had Trump won in 2008 instead of Obama?

A fictitious 2008 Trump coming in as president would be like:

"Oh, I know exactly what to do about this! Let's give all of the billionaires a trillion dollar tax cut. And if that isn't enough, then let's give 'em another trillion dollar tax cut!"

The current occupant of the White House continues to be a dangerous embarrassment to We the People of the United States of America .... period.

So the economic recovery that began because of Obama, despite Republican opposition, has continued.

1 ( +6 / -5 )

Trump seems to be under the delusion that the rest of the world thinks what he says has credibility and shows competence, while being so stupid he doesn't realize they laugh at him both openly and behind his back.

Remember when the Pubs whined about Obama (whom the world loved) had made America a laughingstock? Remember when Trump literally (not figuratively) made it a laughingstock?

7 ( +11 / -4 )

All he could do is talk about himself (mostly lies and exaggerations), and then threaten like a schoolyard bully.

Hello, Europe. Please remember who we once were: the Marshall Plan, the Arsenal of Democracy, the linchpin of the United Nations, the World Bank, the IMF, NATO, and all the other institutions that kept the world free and prosperous in the post-WWII years.

We're very sick right now, but we're going in for major surgery this November. Don't give up on us. We'll be back!

Love,

America

Trump left one thing out. He should have praised former Pres. Obama for creating the foundation which this economic recovery possible to begin with. Trump could've never have accomplished what former Pres. Obama did in cleaning up that Republican mess and saving the country from the Great Recession of 2008.
