“Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time,”

Trump's delusional.

Waiting for Trump's media including his keyboard warriors (US and 'foreign') to admit they were wrong saying Biden wouldn't allow a debate, that Biden couldn't stand for even five minutes, that Biden was incapable of speaking for himself, etc. etc. Shameful lies, but then that's been consistent from his base. Trump fractals, after all.

Poor little victim.

12 ( +14 / -2 )

With the next two moderators not being from Trump's mouthpiece network Fox, I expect there will be far more criticism from the right about how unfair the moderators will be to heir Trump.

Hell, other Fox "talents" were slagging their own Chris Wallace during the debate, claiming it was two against one and that Wallace was too mean to Trump.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

I'm not watching this junk or any political advertising. Been getting 20% truths in the mail from both parties this election cycle. Shameful. Every day, there are 4 more oversized postcards in the mail with lies.

Already dropped off our ballots.

It was really tempting to write in "None of the above" for all offices.

The debates are meaningless without the Libertarian party candidate. Both Trump and Biden are essentially advocating for big government. There is very little difference between the two of them. The Libertarian candidate should've been allowed to defend the small government & and anti-war position.

The American elections are rigged. From the voter suppression on local level to the 3rd party suppression on a federal level. Since both Democrats and Republicans have essentially become the same, America doesn't need a 3rd party, but a second party.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

I easily won

If you define winning as interrupting more.

Trump opposes stricter rules because he is incapable of articulating his “platform” and because he is an all-round ignoramus.

He relies on being an obnoxious jerk because he has nothing else. He’s a fraud.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Trump was nervous, he didn't know what to do. He says that he trains for these debates by doing press briefings. Those are made in advance with the content, time, and interaction planned. This time, he didn't know now how to react to Biden and the moderator.

Yet,

If Biden doesn't come up a good offensive strategy Trump is going to eat him alive which is exactly what he is trying to do, to create enough chaos that throws Biden off balance and comes off as incoherent and incompetent.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

If you define winning as interrupting more.

Good point. In fact, Trump interrupted Biden and Wallace at least 128 times.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/09/trump-interruptions-first-presidential-debate-biden.html

He even broke his own record of 51 times when he debated Hilary. I guess he thought (incorrectly) that shouting over someone is the only way to win. But in fact, all it did was give voters the impression that he is a one-dimensional bully who can't even speak in complete and coherent sentences. He just tries to make the other person not finish theirs because he probably can't even understand and respond with the proper facts.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

The ones that will give Biden the best chance to win, obviously.

did not specify what changes it is considering.

-5 ( +5 / -10 )

Watching the first debate between Trump & Biden, Trump's strategy appeared to be just drowning out Biden with noise whenever Biden spoke. Biden respected the rules and gave Trump his moments to explain his views when being asked first to respond, but every time Biden opened his mouth to answer or reply, Trump tried his darndest to drown him out. Why? Clearly Trump doesn't have a leg to stand on when it comes to the economy's performance which is closely linked to this president's complete absence of planning in dealing with the Coronavirus. That's why this president is so against changing the rules of the debate format. One on one with uninterrupted speaking time to a hundred million viewers and voters is Trump's end. Besides, Trump has no plan and nothing to boast of, so the only thing he can do is be belligerent and hope that voters become so disgusted by the debates that they don't vote. Biden won the first debate in one sense, but it wasn't because he sounded so good. No, it was because he made less noise than Trump, and maybe that was Trump's intent all along.

“Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time."

His cult clearly agrees. Not so sure about anyone else.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

If the rule changes mean Biden answers for the full allotted time I’m for it. The more Joe speaks uninterrupted the more he gets into trouble. Speak, Joe!

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

gaicuckojin - If Biden doesn't come up a good offensive strategy Trump is going to eat him alive which is exactly what he is trying to do, to create enough chaos that throws Biden off balance and comes off as incoherent and incompetent.

If Biden is so easily thrown off balance, and appears incoherent and incompetent, shouldn't Harris be at the top of the democrat party ticket? Isn't that like being pro Harris for POTUS in 2021?

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Biden looked at the people. Trump looked angry.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

The right tried to portray Biden as mentally deficient.

Instead he went on stage, and was by far the coherent one. Don't agree? Try watching the debate with the sound turned off, and see their body language alone. Then listen to the words.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Joe actually was wired and with an earpiece.

New talking point from the right to try to distract people from Trump's absolute failure in the debates, after being exposed as an absolute failure as a businessman, after being an absolute failure as the leader of a nation in crisis.

But hey, at least you guys got the last laugh by electing a troll for president! And I mean the last laugh because your country won't be in a position to do much laughing when the civil war begins next month.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

If Biden is so easily thrown off balance, and appears incoherent and incompetent, shouldn't Harris be at the top of the democrat party ticket?

If Trump is so easily thrown off balance, and appears incoherent and incompetent, shouldn't Pence be at the top of the republic party ticket?

Such things are decided by processes called elections.

From the article:

"Trump, a Republican, tweeted Thursday that he opposed any changes. “Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time,”

When did he change from being a Fascist to a Republican?

It is interesting that the definition of a Fascism is:

"A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism."

Doesn't that sound like what Trump aspires to?

6 ( +8 / -2 )

if we are changing rules now, why is the next moderator allowed to be so obviously biased? He literally worked for one of the candidates.

"Trump campaign calls out second debate moderator who interned for Biden, worked for Ted Kennedy

He previously tweeted an op-ed titled "No, Not Trump, Not Ever."

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

Biden is a apparently a stutterer - something that is exacerbated by interruptions and rudeness. If it's true, he did an impressive job of keeping in his head and delivering coherent arguments in the face of an interrupting "clown".

5 ( +7 / -2 )

if we are changing rules now, why is the next moderator allowed to be so obviously biased?

He's a false flag. He works for Fox, and was clearly biased towards Trump, repeatedly letting him interrupt and even taking his unreasonable questions and posing them to Biden. Clearly a plant from the right. Fake news.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

why is the next moderator allowed to be so obviously biased?

Don't worry. Trump is the toughest guy in the history of the planet. He should easily be able to call out the biased questions he is asked. All he has to do is say "fake news" or "far left media" and his cult followers will go into a state of mass ecstasy. Game. Set. Match.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Yep isnt that why Trump won?

Oh, you are saying he didnt win? interesting.

He's a false flag. He works for Fox, and was clearly biased towards Trump, repeatedly letting him interrupt and even taking his unreasonable questions and posing them to Biden. Clearly a plant from the right. Fake news.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Chris Wallace claimed Trump was the first to interrupt. Transcripts show 3 Biden interruptions to start.

Plus Biden is getting sued for his false comments about Kenosha. Cant just run around calling everyone a white supremacist with no consequences in the real world, you know?

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

I have no idea what the "Biden Beach Bash" is, nor do I care to find out. But I do know the moderator of the next debate was in attendance as a Biden guest. Tara Reade was not in attendance for some reason.

Even more concerning for critics are some of Scully’s past tweets, one of which includes him being pictured with Biden in 2016 at a party.

“Gotta love the @VP at the Biden Beach Bash '16,” Scully tweeted along with the photo.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

If the rule changes mean Biden answers for the full allotted time I’m for it. The more Joe speaks uninterrupted the more he gets into trouble. Speak, Joe!

Biden could speak with the eloquence of an Obama or Bill Clinton and you’d still claim he was incoherent. Your reactions are preprogrammed.

I thought Biden did okay. His voice sounded frail but he didn’t wander off. Trump did his usual potty-throwing, smacked-arse face turn.

I heard one description which said Biden was like the Swedish chef from the muppets and Trump was like Chewbacca.

6 ( +8 / -2 )

“Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time,”

Won? All he did was prove to all America and the entire world what an uncivilized raving lunatic he is. We have to get this boor out of office. VOTE HIM OUT then LOCK HIM UP. MAGA!!!

6 ( +8 / -2 )

The moderators need to back off a bit. In the first debate, during the "discussion" sections, Wallace continuously interrupted the flow of the conversation. As soon as each topic started to get interesting or controversial, Wallace jumped in to referee.

If Trump or Biden aren't man enough to have a 5 minute conversation without a querilous moderator, I don't know what to say.

I would say to read the transcripts before passing judgement. There is a huge media meme going around that Trump "refused to condemn" white supremacists. It is , of course, nonsense. He said so four times before Biden foolishly brought up the Proud Boys. It is similar to the whole "there are good people on both sides" myth that Biden is basing his entire presidential aspiration on. Didn't happen the way it is portrayed in the media.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Trump's delusional.

How?

Waiting for Trump's media including his keyboard warriors (US and 'foreign') to admit they were wrong saying Biden wouldn't allow a debate, that Biden couldn't stand for even five minutes, that Biden was incapable of speaking for himself, etc. etc. Shameful lies, but then that's been consistent from his base. Trump fractals, after all.

Besides spewing regurgitated Democrat talking points, what are his policies again besides wanting to carry out the AOC unsustainable Marxist agenda?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Well hey "the base" loved what Trump did. every minute of it. The media wont cover these things so now everyone knows what happened, plus he got Biden to say that HE is the Democrat party, and to denounce the Green New Deal. win/win.

Despite what CNN presents in town halls as "undecided voters", there are only like 3% of those.

So basically just make sure all your people vote and then if you can show some people who think they want to vote against Trump that Biden isnt the guy to lead our country- total landslide.

Again, very few people are voting FOR Biden. So how many of these internet warriors who claim they are voting against Trump will actually bother to DO it?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Biden was obviously confused at many times. He praised the Green New Deal as being revenue neutral, then said he was not for it (even though it is on his official website). He claimed "I AM the Democratic Party", yet said he couldn't even phone fellow Democrat mayors or governors because he is just a private citizen. He wouldn't even clarify his position on expanding the Supreme Court to counteract the nomination of Justice Barrett.

He was saved on numerous occasions by the moderator. He was also saved by Trump, who was far too impatient to just let Biden twist in the wind and look lost. Trump couldn't stop talking even when he had the advantage. That was his biggest mistake.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Well hey "the base" loved what Trump did. every minute of it

Every minute? Do ‘the base’ like constant interruptions?

Why do they, or anyone else for that matter, love constant interruptions?

Do you love doing that?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Every minute? Do ‘the base’ like constant interruptions?

Why do they, or anyone else for that matter, love constant interruptions?

Do you love doing that?

Dunno, interruptions were on both sides and for the life of me, I just don’t understand the name calling. Yeah, I get it, Trump likes to call idiots names, but Biden calls names and wants to fight? How? Lol

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Donald Trump says he has rejected the Ku Klux Klan “from the time I'm 5 years old.”

Liberal Breaking news: Trump was a racist until he was 5 years old!

Meanwhile didnt Biden speak at the funeral of KKK leaders and was good friends with several segregationists/white supremacists?

Joe Biden befriended white supremacists. He still speaks fondly of them.

“the white race is a superior race, & the N----race is an inferior race” – Democrat James Eastland

“I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland. He never called me boy, he always called me son” – Biden, 2019

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Dunno, interruptions were on both sides and for the life of me, I just don’t understand the name calling.

Trump was the worst offender here by a mile. The numbers back this up.

Have you changed your tune on Trump’s nicknames for people he doesn’t like? You liked this in the past.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

The ones that will give Biden the best chance to win, obviously.

if we are changing rules now, why is the next moderator allowed to be so obviously biased? He literally worked for one of the candidates.

You know things are grim in Trump-world when his supporters here are already offering up excuses for his failure in the NEXT debate...

I just wished Wallace would have asked Trump about his promise when they had their last interview in Jul...

Trump to Wallace on 17 Jul: We're signing a health care plan within two weeks, a full and complete health care plan...

That full and complete health care plan must be hidden somewhere, maybe next to his tax returns....

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Wallace continuously interrupted the flow of the conversation.

Do you watch the same “debate”?

I didn’t see any conversation, just a deranged Trump going over the edge and turning more orange as the time went by because he couldn’t shake Biden up like he expected.

Biden doesn’t need to win any of the debates they are Trumps to lose. All he has to do to make that happen is to continue showing the world what a lunatic he is, even though it’s most certainly deeply embarrassing for America.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Biden was saved on numerous occasions by the moderator. He was also saved by Trump, who was far too impatient to just let Biden twist in the wind and look lost.

Yes. New rules next time - make sure Joe “explains” himself. Im looking forward to it.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

To get through the next two debates we'll need Fentanyl-flavored popcorn because no matter how they tweak the rules, or how well Biden performs, debating Trump is like playing chess with a pigeon: the bird will knock over all the pieces, poop on the board and strut around like it won.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

I do know the moderator of the next debate was in attendance as a Biden guest. Tara Reade was not in attendance for some reason.

How did Trump, the so-called "master negotiator", end up agreeing to such a clearly biased moderator? Kind of like how you guys got duped into believing he's a master businessman, you also got duped into believing he's a master negotiator. The man can't even negotiate an unbaised moderator with a guy who is supposedly mentally deficient!

6 ( +7 / -1 )

ohara:

If the rule changes mean Biden answers for the full allotted time I’m for it. The more Joe speaks uninterrupted the more he gets into trouble. Speak, Joe!

Instead, the man-child opted to speak, even when it wasn't his turn. Every time he opened his mouth, he embarrassed himself, so yeah, keep the same format.

You can tell when the man-child is lying. His lips move.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Speaking of the debate:

Kyle Rittenhouse (the 17 yo who shot the leftist criminals in Kenosha) will sue Biden for libel - Biden’s campaign ad seems to have referenced him as a “white supremacist”. Same lawyer who sued the media over the libel against the Covington Highschool kids.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Trump was the worst offender here by a mile.

I disagree.

The numbers back this up.

Have you changed your tune on Trump’s nicknames for people he doesn’t like? You liked this in the past.

Here we go with liberal numbers again, I think Trump did do a bit more interrupting than really necessary, but Biden didn’t lay out one single policy issue or elaborate on any points, calling someone names is easy, Dems are good at that like a blister in the sun, it gets annoying after awhile, I get it, Biden was tired and it took a lot out of him to get the words out, but come on, man!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Here we go with liberal numbers again

Please link to a source showing Biden did more interrupting. Again, don’t link to partisan opinion pieces, tabloids or say you’ve already posted the link.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Biden didn’t lay out one single policy issue or elaborate on any points

Well we don't even know what Trump's TrumpCare policy is other than injecting Mr. Clean to fight covid-19.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

This is a moot point now. But Trump has no right to reject rule changes. They can accept the rule changes or they can not show up.

I had been hearing rumblings about this last two days. His staff was looking for an out because they KNOW that he cannot change or obey the rules. They were going to use this as this excuse.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

But we do know Trump's main policy is he will never leave the WH even if he loses the general election. He's clear on that unlike being unclear about TrumpCare (except for injecting Mr Clean)

0 ( +1 / -1 )

no, the commission has no right to make rule changes.

But Trump has no right to reject rule changes.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Keep the debate. Keep Trump in quarantine, maybe in one of his bunkers where there can be control over his mic.

But it could be after Trump's disastrous first debate his handlers and biggest campaign donors have become fully aware he's a loooooose canon and a liability to their cause. They probably don't want to see him make a fool of himself again, so maybe they'll wave a white flag and say he's unable to debate.

What will be interesting is to see who they blame for Trump's being put at risk. Fauci? Cuomo? Obama?
