Shame on you Trump, shame on you.

Do you believe in indiscriminate bombing that takes innocent lives?

If it comes to that, then that is what must be done.

That's carpet bombing. Being glib about the lives of people caught up in war of no choice of their own is not funny. Or clever. As a journalist who has lived among the suffering people in the Middle East, you should know that.

Yes, I have seen a lot in my years of coverage, but I also know what the ramifications can lead to, if the good guys loses. Take the emotion out of it for a moment.

Putin and Assad do not. They bomb indiscriminately.

I get it and that's why they can win this war.

Do you admire that?

Has nothing to do with admire, it has everything to do with winning a war, I hate war like everyone else, but I also am a realist and I believe as bad as war is, if you want to win it, you have to be as nasty as your enemy, otherwise, you might as well just wave a white flag of surrender.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Trump wants to carpt bomb ISIS (check his quotes) like what happened in in Vietnam and napalm.

I hope so.

crying over

US taxpayers will be crying when they get the bill for the wall.

Bitcoin anyone?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

All Trump voters think that.

I think you've gone over the edge Mr. Nishikat. Good luck.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Obama haters (who are Trump lovers and think he is the best president ever) think that Obama was just targeting common citizens just to get his numbers up...then lie and say that they were really ISIS.

I there is some truth to that what Obama did. But now he's gone and it's the past. No point in crying over wasted skim milk.

Trump wants to carpt bomb ISIS (check his quotes) like what happened in in Vietnam and napalm.

I hope so.

See? Trump voters expect the same thing from Trump but only hated Obama about it. It's OK, it's a genetic thing to hate one thing and not hate another.

If you think so, anyway, you should be proud you now have a strong president that doesn't take ****!

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I've never said that either.

All Trump voters think that. Trump does not have direct control of the targets. It's just Obama's haters ranting becasue they think a Kenyan citizen was in the WH for eight years. Trump wants to carpt bomb ISIS (check his quotes) like what happened in in Vietnam and napalm.

Obama haters (who are Trump lovers and think he is the best president ever) think that Obama was just targeting common citizens just to get his numbers up...then lie and say that they were really ISIS.

Trump want to ramp up military development.I hope so.

they want to believe he was born in Kenya

I've never said that either. Sounds like a deflection, but it's very important that he droned terrorists and did not participate in Obamas, the Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations in their deplorable hedgemonic war of aggression against the Houthis.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

".... and you'll see them becoming radicalised."

There is zero correlation between radicalization and socio-economic background. The terrorists range from privileged elite members (Bin Laden) to impoverished, to professional class (9/11 attackers) to middle class and comfortably living in the West ("Jihadi John.")

The connecting thread? They're Muslims.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Trump want to ramp up military development.

I hope so.

Of course he will be a war warmonger. Trump also talked of using nuclear weapons.

Bush did as well, in 8 years did he use them?

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Interesting what his target was, or do you know the difference between Al Qaida and Houthis(common Obama target) in Yemen?

Nothing. People saying this are people who hate Obama because they want to believe he was born in Kenya. Nothing will change. Trump want to ramp up military development. Of course he will be a war warmonger. Trump also talked of using nuclear weapons.

Make anyone live in the kind of conditions you find in Muslim countries, with rampant poverty, oppression and ignorance, while people elsewhere have it a hell of a lot better, and you'll see them becoming radicalised.

And yet almost all major terrorist acts are committed by relatively affluent and educated men who suffer none of the things you describe.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Simon. And yet there is radicalized Islamic in Germany now. As for "oppression," no one or country oppresses Muslims more than other Muslims. And it is not the US's responsibility to fix that.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

At JFK airport, one person was release after he was found to be worked for us military for ten years in quit. There are eleven more people in jail. Trump order but quit people who helped US cause cannot get out.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

"This is a gift to ISIS. It is exactly what they want..."

A much bigger "gift" to ISIS is the ability for Muslims to go and live in Western countries unmolested. Nearly all the jihadi attackers in France, Belgium, the UK, etc. have been Muslims of immigrant and refugee background who were given residency rights. The Saudi 9/11 bombers were living legally in Hamburg, Germany.

An open-door West is exactly what the terrorists want.

Read the Quran; their Holy Book calls for death to anything not of Allah. Their words, not mine. And please don't waste my time telling me the sins of Christians, Jews, etc.

Why not? Make anyone live in the kind of conditions you find in Muslim countries, with rampant poverty, oppression and ignorance, while people elsewhere have it a hell of a lot better, and you'll see them becoming radicalised. Look at what happened to the Germans after WW1, for instance. There wasn't any "radical Islam" in the Einsatzgruppen or the Waffen SS.

Trump ignored one oppressed refugee of Palestine. In theory US support the people of Israel and Palestine live side be side with tolerance. Israel unbridled expansion of settlement with bulldozers have caused many of Palestinians being squeezed as sandwiches.

Obama gave warning to Israel to stop expansion.Trump is exteremly biased and pampered Israel for let them keep expanding. As far as Israel is keep bullying Palestine, there will never be peace in ME.

Israel oppression was one of the root cause of Islamic radicalization,

Just stop supporting islamic terrorists and radicals. Are you working in favor of them ?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

the left wing media has yo pretend there are no terrorists

There is no such narrative.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Why isn't Saudi Arabia not the top of his list?

Because they buy Trump towers .

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I wonder how Trump's actions against Muslims will prevent the Unabombers and Timothy McVeighs of the world?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Looks like people on both sides of the aisles are questioning Trump on this one. That might be why his approval rating has dropped to 36%.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And another group will spring up right behind them.

And another group and for different reasons then the previous. The point you should be taking is that this particular refugee screening by itself is not going to change the end result for ISIS. It doesn't matter anymore for ISIS if a particular action is valuable for them as propaganda or as a recruiting tool for them due to the rate of their losses far exceeding their ability to replace them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I don't know why Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were left off the visa ban list but at least travelers from those countries will still face extreme vetting.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Trump's ridiculous screening is currently causing a lot of chaos and resentment as some travelers were turned back fro flying to the U.S.

The real terrorist threat to America is homegrown, not recent immigrants.

Why do people think drone strikes will stop under Trump?

Who said that?

Interesting what his target was, or do you know the difference between Al Qaida and Houthis(common Obama target) in Yemen? The same Al Qaida that our friends and allies Saudi Arabia wouldn't attack...hmmmm

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

"US orders first drone strikes under Trump"

Search the above verbatim. Why do people think drone strikes will stop under Trump? It's still continuing. It's not going to stop. Don't Trump voters want Trump to kill terrorists like he promised. He said he will bomg the **** of ISIS. What is the problem?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

"Wrong. This is a gift to ISIS."

Wrong. ISIS already got their gift from Obama and Clinton.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

And more left wing news when the phrase radical Islamic terrorist is in quotes implying somehow there are either no terrorists or those, terrorists are not radicals pretending to be religious. I get it, the left wingers want to fake a narrative that trump and his supporters are bigots, so the left wing media has yo pretend there are no terrorists at all to help feed their false claims of bigotry. When in fact trump and the right wing are against only terrorists. I can't understand how the left wing can continue to give support and legitimization to terror groups taking and killing across the world while enslaving and genociding in Islamic countries. How many slaves, rapes and murders by radical Islamic terrorists van occur before the left wing admits these violent thugs exist.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

It will be hard trying to fix Obama's broken immigration system.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Read the Quran; their Holy Book calls for death to anything not of Allah. Their words, not mine. And please don't waste my time telling me the sins of Christians, Jews, etc. 1) I'm an atheist. 2) Christians and Jews aren't trying to migrate to the US and 3) the vast, vast majority of terrorists attacks in the US have been carried out by Muslims. And before you start about gun control and homegrown nuts, let me say that I agree with you that far more people are killed by natural born Americans but we are stuck with them. Membership has its privileges; we owe squat to countries that cannot get their acts together.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I'm sure your boy Putin has a strategy thou...

No Russians under my bed, Senator Joe.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

ou are correct that you cannot fight an idea but you can prevent a group that preaches death to anything that it does not approve of----like radical Islam.

Nope, because radicalism is an idea as well. You can eliminate a group like Al Qaeda and ISIS, but you're just playing whack-a-mole, as another group will spring up in the vacuum to replace them.

That's why the goal should be coming up with solutions to the problem of people wanting to radicalize in the first place. Because once they've radicalized, you're too late.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

@Strangerland. You are correct that you cannot fight an idea but you can prevent a group that preaches death to anything that it does not approve of----like radical Islam.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

"Oh, the USA isn't allowing me in, so I think I'll join a group in Syria that beheads mostly Muslims, women and children," said nobody ever.

That's right, you're the first one. Because that's not what any of us were saying.

Considering the reported estimated rates of foreign fighters joining ISIS versus the man power they are losing and the amount of territory they are losing in Iraq and Syria this past year this amount of potential recruits this will cause is too little too late for them.

And another group will spring up right behind them. That's the thing about terrorism, it's an idea, and ideas cannot be eradicated. That's why the 'war on terror' was so stupid, because you cannot fight a war against an idea. You can only try to mitigate it, and give people better options, or at least less targets.

Somehow the right thinks that bombing the middle east isn't going to radicalize the people living there, as if they wouldn't (or rather haven't) radicalize when their own country was attacked.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Yet another policy that will ultimately be ineffective while at the same time creating a black eye for the US.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

This is a gift to ISIS. It is exactly what they want, to gain recruits who believe the West is at war with Islam.

Considering the reported estimated rates of foreign fighters joining ISIS versus the man power they are losing and the amount of territory they are losing in Iraq and Syria this past year this amount of potential recruits this will cause is too little too late for them.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

"Could it be the real cause of radical Islam is their doctrine?"

I think a mix of politics and the doctrine. I don't think Trump's approach to Israel will turn down the heat either.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@Plastic Monkey. I agree with pieces of what you said and insinuated---disasterous Iraq War, etc.--- but if the west's decisions are to partially blame for Radical Islam and it's spread, why are countries like France and Germany having problems? Could it be the real cause of radical Islam is their doctrine? And shouldn't' the US proceed with caution instead of throwing open the doors?

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

@samwatters

Would you be happy if more radical Muslim terrorists, got into the US?

No. And I would be unhappy if more people joined radical Muslim groups because of bad American policy.

The latter is more of a likely threat to safety than the United States' (up to now) policy about refugees from Syria.

Radical Islamic terrorism doesn't exist without a cause. I'm not saying that the West is solely responsible, but it has had an obvious destructive role in an already volatile region. From the carving up of the ME after WWI to the overthrow of Mosaddegh to the unquestioning endorsement of Israel's apartheid system to the pitting of Iran vs. Iraq to the hypocrisy of supporting Arab dictators to the invasion of Iraq over manipulated evidence.

One bad decision after another. This is another.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

They are nutcases - who cares what they want? We are not talking the brightest bulbs with a grand strategy here.

That sums up team Trump and the Republican party pretty succinctly. I'm sure your boy Putin has a strategy thou...

............................................................................................................. Today, January 28, is the 8th day of Trump's presidency. A drone strike? Against whom? A head of state? A terrorist? Go back to "News source" and say what that source is. (Though I don't doubt there was a drone strike.) I thought you were going to say that Trump was gloating about an assassination (Assad's) as in "We came, we saw, he (Gaddafi) died." I think a high-ranking member of the Obama administration said that.

Recent trend is that the new ones are radicalised within the country and are young.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The number of non-terrorism-related gun deaths in America since 2001 is more than a thousand times the number of Americans killed by terrorism in that period worldwide (and that's including the 9/11 attacks). But Trump chooses an option that will hurt the innocent victims (mostly women and children) of conflicts that the United States has been a key player in inflicting (especially Iraq, and as a by-product Syria), while at the same time inciting young disaffected Muslims to join radical Islamic groups that are eager for a fight with the West. Meanwhile, let's do more stop-and-frisk, stigmatize the black community as a gang-infested inner-city blight on the country, and characterize Mexicans as rapists and murderers. And resist any gun-control measures tooth and nail.

It's mostly self-satisfaction for Trump and for his adoring fan club.

Many more will die and suffer because of Trump. And this is only the first week.

The term "vetting" has come up again and again. Just how thorough is the vetting? In TIME, Nov 18, 2015 Alex Altman wrote (and this is only excerpted):

"A DHS officer conducts in-person interviews with every applicant. Biometric information such as fingerprints are collected and matched against criminal databases. Biographical information such as past visa applications are scrutinized to ensure the applicant's story coheres."

Taken at face value this sounds thorough. With the Syrian civil war ending - maybe - there is bound to be an increase of refugees seeking asylum if not permanent resettlement. This will add pressure to the DHS' job. But every president must use great caution in order to protect citizens and resident aliens. That is his (and might have been her) first duty. Aiding refugees - as praiseworthy for its humanity as it is - is not.

To President Trump's credit he does not seem to be an advocate of "regime change". His job is to clean up the mess created and exacerbated by the Bush and Obama administrations, those advocates of armed intervention and proxy wars.

Why isn't Saudi Arabia not the top of his list? The hijackers in the September 11 attacks were 19 men, 15 of the 19 were citizens of Saudi Arabia. Hypocrisy?

Or maybe he's got financial ties to them. His tax returns would probably let us know.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

The State Department said the three-month ban in the directive applied to Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen — all Muslim-majority nations.

Bah don't try to think things through intelligently and objectively. Remedial remedies to complex problems are what we need. 140 characters max.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

Real problem is that it is wsy to easy for illegal immigrants to get medical, housing, work, schooling, etc.

Remove that and they will go elsewhere.

BTW, most eutopean countries are not as welcoming as england or gemany and they are not the european norm. But you wouldn't know unless you lived or were born there.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

It has been long overdue to prevent America from becoming the second "Eurobia" in the making. Most see Islam as religion, but the fact Islam is also a political doctrine and supreme mono- culture that annihilated the conquered cultures. The political and cultural Islam are more active under the banner of caliphate. Trump did not ban Muslims as liberal media wants us to believe, but implementing serious vetting process for refugees from all these trouble spots in the world to better secure America. Trump does not want to see America facing refugees crisis as Europe recently (don't forget to thank Obama for this mess). The bias liberal media is obsessed to distort Trump's agenda.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

No wonder the US will go into decline with Trump in charge. They won't be setting many good examples over the next few years.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

Finally, a step in the right direction.

-7 ( +4 / -11 )

The vast majority of Muslim refugees and first generation immigrants are peaceful and decent people who appreciate what their new country has given them. However, I've always been much more worried about the second generation that will inevitably end up feeling torn between two cultures (as most children of first generation immigrants do at some point). Like many of the homegrown terrorists we've seen, they find their identity and cultural pride by rejecting the west and becoming Islamists. Unlike their immigrant/refugee parents, they feel like they owe nothing to the non-Islamic society they live in. We've had a huge problem with this in Europe where seemingly normal second generation immigrants go off to join ISIS. It's completely unprecedented. No amount of refugee screening is going to be able to assess a risk that hasn't even been born yet. It's certainly a controversial issue but a ban on Muslim refugees and immigration is not completely without merit.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

What are the steps about people being radicalised in the USA, which most teens are now?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Religious Test - Patently Un-Constitutional

By all means, let's show the world that the GREAT United States of America is AFRAID. That we are WEAK. That we can't properly VET refugees. That we turn our backs on destitute women and children because we are SCARED of them. Yes, that will make America great again. This is REVOLTING.

4 ( +11 / -7 )

Wrong. This is a gift to ISIS. It is exactly what they want, to gain recruits who believe the West is at war with Islam.

Yep. The extremists have been trying to force a war with the west, and as long as people keep reacting with hatred, rather than acceptance and understanding, the extremists will continue to grow.
