Racketeering Influence Corrupt Organization, the Trump Organization

3 ( +8 / -5 )

The verdict came on the second day of deliberations following a trial in which the Trump Organization was accused of being complicit in a scheme by top executives to avoid paying personal income taxes on job perks such as rent-free apartments and luxury cars.

Trump and his cronies should have been in jail since the 90s along with Leona Helmsley who famously said "Taxes are for the little people". Trump too bragged about how little tax he paid in debates.

The Pandora and Panama Papers show this is endemic among the rich.

The wealthy pay a much smaller percentage of their money in taxes than the working classes.

https://www.fool.com/taxes/2020/09/25/why-does-billionaire-warren-buffett-pay-a-lower-ta/

Of course when in office Trump didn't bring tax fairness to his followers but instead gave his rentier class even more tax cuts.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Sure vote for 45 again. He’s got your best interests at heart. He can barely sleep at nights thinking about the plight of the working people. Honestly, it’s bigly true.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Another hard blow to little Trumpy and his MAGA gang..

He is sinking more and more and the world realizes what kind of shameless, scoundrel cheat he has always been..

And even so, there are silly sheep who plan to vote for him, unbelievable funny..

7 ( +9 / -2 )

“Mr. Trump is explicitly sanctioning tax fraud,”

Look for this to be rolled over into specific charges against the Dotard.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

If the NYC jury comes back guilty, the monetary damages alone, not including the business "death penalty" will spell the end of the Trump org as a "going concern."

But by then, Dotard will be "going to jail."

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Honestly, I haven't followed this enough to form an opinion on what he did, don’t really care other than if you go after him go after all these people, if you just single him out or conservatives you will lose all credibility, but I will say that if the charges and convictions were based on characterizing certain things as "business-related" to avoid taxes, then maybe we need to look at everyone in Congress.  I mean, haven't there been members of Congress who have put their family and friends on the payroll as "employees" to help them?  And since those expenses are probably considered business expenses for tax purposes, aren't they kind of doing the same thing - especially when paying these family members sums of money not commensurate with their expertise and/or services provided?

-25 ( +2 / -27 )

If the NYC jury comes back guilty, the monetary damages alone, not including the business "death penalty" will spell the end of the Trump org as a "going concern."

Maybe, maybe not.

But by then, Dotard will be "going to jail."

Yeah, that’s just not going to happen.

-22 ( +1 / -23 )

Bass - the issue here is not one of tax deductibility/avoidance, which if done correctly, is legal. It’s about tax evasion, which means they didn’t fulfill their obligations as an employer to correctly report the correct compensation they paid.

10 ( +12 / -2 )

“A jury found two corporate entities at the Trump Organization guilty on all 17 counts, including conspiracy charges and falsifying business records.”

All 17 counts. That’s rather conclusive.

if you go after him go after all these people, if you just single him out or conservatives you will lose all credibility

That’s a unique defense. “Somebody else might have done this too”. Why didn’t they contact you earlier?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Laws need to get white collar criminals too. I'd suggest 1 yr of jail for each million in fraud. Along with restitution payments to the injured people, with interest, pain and suffering.

Trump is unfit to run a lemonade stand, much less a company or hold any public office.

This is just the first of many lawsuits. Here's hoping the prosecution in the others lawsuits do better. If they can't get jail time, at least make him poor and disgraced to the point that nobody will ever do business with him or his family again. Don Jr would be a good waiter.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Honestly, I haven't followed this enough to form an opinion on what he did,

Ill take "things that are not remotely credible for $1,000 Alex!" Lol. Sure, give been "too busy.".

Sure, go with that.

And I am aware of what a going concern is. That was a play on words that went over your head inspire of being a ground ball to short. ROFL.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

the issue here is not one of tax deductibility/avoidance, which if done correctly, is legal. It’s about tax evasion, which means they didn’t fulfill their obligations as an employer to correctly report the correct compensation they paid.

Duly noted, so then if you want to nail Trump on tax evasion charges or other tax shenanigans then go after everyone, again, don’t just target one person because you politically are trying to ruin them.

-13 ( +3 / -16 )

Maybe Dotard will call for the conviction to be terminated?

He is after all, in Bob's words, the "1-Terminator", lol.

"if you go after him go after all these people, if you just single him out or conservatives you will lose all credibility"

That’s a unique defense. “Somebody else might have done this too”. Why didn’t they contact you earlier?

I'm certainly going to use it next time I'm arrested by the police.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

And I am aware of what a going concern is. That was a play on words that went over your head inspire of being a ground ball to short. ROFL.

What?

“A jury found two corporate entities at the Trump Organization guilty on all 17 counts, including conspiracy charges and falsifying business records.”

All 17 counts. That’s rather conclusive.

Hmmmm….

That’s a unique defense. “Somebody else might have done this too”. Why didn’t they contact you earlier?

An attempt at humor?

-16 ( +2 / -18 )

Bass - I agree. Rules are made for all and nobody should be above the law.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Hopefully the upsizing of the IRS will allow for us to go after the harder to nail tax evaders.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

don’t just target one person because you politically are trying to ruin them.

He doesn’t need outside help to politically ruin himself. He’s done that twice very recently just by having dinner and tweeting.

11 ( +12 / -1 )

Trump and his cronies should have been in jail since the 90s along with Leona Helmsley who famously said "Taxes are for the little people". Trump too bragged about how little tax he paid in debates.

When Republicans start their investigations that should be very interesting…

The Pandora and Panama Papers show this is endemic among the rich.

Thar will never change.

The wealthy pay a much smaller percentage of their money in taxes than the working classes.

Question I’m in a higher tax bracket and pay a lot, and I mean this now in all seriousness and sincerity, how much do you think is enough for the affluent to pay?

Of course when in office Trump didn't bring tax fairness to his followers but instead gave his rentier class even more tax cuts.

Well, he did, that’s the reason why a lot of businesses were flourishing particularly small businesses. Had he not done that, as is now the situation small businesses would’ve going under.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/new-tax-warning-biden-to-whack-small-businesses

-14 ( +1 / -15 )

Hopefully the upsizing of the IRS will allow for us to go after the harder to nail tax evaders.

Ahh, you mean like this?

https://www.cnet.com/personal-finance/taxes/if-you-make-over-600-on-paypal-venmo-or-cash-app-this-year-the-irs-will-know/

These people are crazy, but when you don’t have policies that can generate massive growth in the private sector you have to take it from somewhere else. Robbing Paul to give to Peter, this is the underlying result of what failed policies look like, going after the little people that are struggling to put food on their table and following all the rules by any means, threaten them with an audit.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Bass - if the Republican Select Committees uncover evidence of crimes in their investigations, then they should certainly make the appropriate referrals to the DOJ.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I mean this now in all seriousness and sincerity, how much do you think is enough for the affluent to pay?

More than $750 a year.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Bass - going back to what I said, everyone should pay what they owe, rich or poor. Nobody should be above the law.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

if you just single him out or conservatives you will lose all credibility

Do you really think Trump is the only person who gets convicted of tax fraud?

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Unless of course that ‘affluent’ person is broke and needs to take secret million dollar loans from North Korea. In that case who knows how much tax?

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Question I’m in a higher tax bracket and pay a lot, and I mean this now in all seriousness and sincerity, how much do you think is enough for the affluent to pay?

Irrelevant and deliberate effort to deflect from the topic: Trump org crimes and the implications for the orange blob.

Besides, as you by your own words, haven't followed this (doing your own research?), you are not well informed, are you?

Perhaps some research is in order, lol.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I think all the obsessives here as so into their little cutesy repetitive phrases and inside "jokes" that they dont even realize a normal person..... has no idea what in the world they are even talking about.

Some executives at a company decided to give themselves some extra perks. Happens all the time in business. Because said company has "Trump" in the name, they went to court, the company was found guilty due to the unlawful conduct of those executives and they have to pay a 1.6 million dollar fine.

Ok fine, moving on.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

Happens all the time in business.

Another one with the unique “somebody else did this” defense. Cool.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

Blacklabel - a company is free to give whatever compensation they want to an employee, but they have to pay taxes on it.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Golly, makes D-pics on a laptop seem pointless by comparison.

yeah thats the narrative now by the liberal media that you are faithfully reproducing every day here. "old news" that the laptop (and its entire contents) are real. recovering cocaine addict. only those pics, nothing else to see.

Thats not all that was on the laptop. There were financial documents and emails that show fraud and shady business dealings in several countries including China and Ukraine (imagine that).

If the laptop also had "Trump" in the owner name, the owner would have been in jail long ago (and the pics would have been allowed all over Twitter and the media from day 1, of course).

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Blacklabel - a company is free to give whatever compensation they want to an employee, but they have to pay taxes on it.

correct. the company didnt, because some executives hid what they were doing from the company and its leadership, so those executives were found guilty and the company was fined. I have zero problem with that.

Now why this specific company was singled out when I am sure executives at nearly every company have perks that dont have taxes paid on it that the CEO is unaware of.

We know why.

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Thats not all that was on the laptop. There were financial documents and emails that show fraud and shady business dealings in several countries including China and Ukraine (imagine that).

Sounds like a lot of ‘speculation’ to me.

you speak like an 8 year old English student who is borrowing teacher's iPad during a class break.

Oh my. “Ok fine, moving on.”?

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Well, he did, that’s the reason why a lot of businesses were flourishing particularly small businesses. Had he not done that, as is now the situation small businesses would’ve going under.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/washington-secrets/new-tax-warning-biden-to-whack-small-businesses

Pure oligarch funded (Philip Anschutz) nonsense.

Even old school conservative outlet Forbes doesn't agree.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/christianweller/2020/01/29/trumps-wasteful-tax-cuts-lead-to-continued-trillion-dollar-deficits-in-expanding-economy/?sh=2f4b2a6166c4

Corporate tax cuts, corporate welfare go towards stock buybacks , yachts and assorted .001% perks.

Trump himself is and was a tool of a corporatocracy much larger than him .

He was wading in Swamp all the time.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Sounds like a lot of ‘speculation’ to me.

no, we have actually seen the documents before Twitter blocked them and before the media claimed they were "Russian disinformation". the owner of said laptop is under federal investigation for....tax evasion, money laundering and should be under investigation for gun crimes, drug crimes and crimes against children.

Oh my. “Ok fine, moving on.”?

nothing wrong with that statement. do you not understand it?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

if the Republican Select Committees uncover evidence of crimes in their investigations, then they should certainly make the appropriate referrals to the DOJ.

Oh, I’m very sure they will.

Sounds like a lot of ‘speculation’ to me.

So why sis the left trying so hard to suppress the details of the laptop?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Oh my. “Ok fine, moving on.”?

nothing wrong with that statement. do you not understand it?

Moving on? Does it mean staying here, reading and replying to all the posts you claim are obsessive yet don’t bother you at and insulting posters?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

More accurate than your "Red wave", lol. For months " RED WAVE! RED WAVE!" Then, oops....

7 ( +7 / -0 )

But, but, but what about Hunter Biden?

Does this mean Trump & Co. are the biggest crooks?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

no, we have actually seen the documents before Twitter blocked them and before the media claimed they were "Russian disinformation".

Damn. And no one thought to make a copy or take a screenshot? Now they are all ‘buried’ again until someone can blow the lid off the whole shebang?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

More accurate than your "Red wave", lol. For months " RED WAVE! RED WAVE!" Then, oops....

thats odd, dont Republicans have the majority in the House of Representatives from next month?

oops indeed.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

You know what they say - a fish rots from it's head.

And this fish's head is rotten through.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Pure oligarch funded (Philip Anschutz) nonsense.

No, the Stalinist policies of the left is what’s nonsense.

Even old school conservative outlet Forbes doesn't agree.

Ahhh wasteful, I agree, but overall and when it comes to the growth of small businesses, you do want those incentives in place in order to grow and expand their business of operations.

https://www.adamsmith.org/blog/tax-spending/why-tax-cuts-stimulate-the-economy/

Corporate tax cuts, corporate welfare go towards stock buybacks , yachts and assorted .001% perks.

How many homes does Biden have again? Why is it that Democrats live in the wealthiest areas, but don’t live in the cities or neighborhoods they represent?

He was wading in Swamp all the time.

Which is was trying to drain and was in the process and then Biden won….hmmm

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

yeah thats the narrative now by the liberal media that you are faithfully reproducing every day here. "old news" that the laptop (and its entire contents) are real. recovering cocaine addict. only those pics, nothing else to see.

But you think Trump won in 2020, right?

Are we supposed to think you know which media is trustworthy? After all, you still believe the media that is telling you Trump won in 2020.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

yes "moving on"

phrasal verb

*:** to go on to a different place, subject, activity, etc.*

But you are still here. Move on.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

More accurate than your "Red wave", lol. For months " RED WAVE! RED WAVE!" Then, oops....

….they got the House. Now Biden will have to beg Kevin for some change. Schadenfreude?

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Maybe Dotard will call for the conviction to be terminated?

He is after all, in Bob's words, the "1-Terminator", lol.

I assume you know what this nonsense means too as you were referenced?

But you are unfamiliar with the term "moving on". How odd.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

But you think Trump won in 2020, right?

Are we supposed to think you know which media is trustworthy? After all, you still believe the media that is telling you Trump won in 2020.

Oh hi buddy!

yes, I do. But you know this already.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

The wheels of justice turn slowly but get there in the end. Actually, this case wasn't about Trump or his family personally, just his dodgy organization. The cases against Trump personally are just warming up. Even a narcissistic idiot who somehow fooled enough people in order to become POTUS isn't above the law. He only wants to be POTUS again so he can put off going to prison for another few years, but it seems his luck is fast running out.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Could have/should have.....

Shot 20% from 3 point range. Got outrebounded. Had more turnovers.

irrelevant because still won the championship 222-213. (well 212, 1 guy passed away)

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

No, the Stalinist policies of the left is what’s nonsense.

Right..Biden is making gulags and nationalizing the land of kulaks.

https://www.adamsmith.org/blog/tax-spending/why-tax-cuts-stimulate-the-economy/

Adam Smith argued for the "dissolution of the rentier" and that massive asset/property holders (like Trump) retard business activity.

https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/adam-smith-and-inequality/

you dont understand that term but you DO understand this nonsense.

The lexically challenged alt-right supporters arguing for intelligibility is hilarious.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Could have/should have.....

But didnt. And now Kevin is a SINO with LDE!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

AND,....

Trump org, STILL guilty on all counts.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

speaking of jail, both Michael Cohen and media darling Michael Avenatti made it to jail already (14 years!)

speaking of court cases, Trump won cases recently against Michael Cohen, Mary Trump and Alexander Vindmann.

So things are really not so bad, you just only hear one sided media.

"the walls are closing in!" yeah, sure thing.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

Donald Trump’s company was convicted of tax fraud on Tuesday in a case brought by the Manhattan District Attorney, a significant repudiation of financial practices at the former president’s business. A jury found two corporate entities at the Trump Organization guilty on all 17 counts, including conspiracy charges and falsifying business records.

Trump loses another case in court - wonder when is Guinness going to give him the record for court loses?

Thank goodness the counterpart criminal investigation is still ongoing, though with the classified MAL case and Georgia AG case both having him dead to rights, this one may be insignificant, with the exception that it will involve Jr, Eric, and Ivanka...

And all our Trump supporting friends can do is scream "Hunter's laptop"...the latest faux outrage weak deflection issue ginned up by the far-right media. They have to have something to dodge from Trump breaking bread with a guy that "likes Hitler" and saying the Constitution should be trashed...

You could probably hear DeSanctimonious laughing in Tallahassee all way at Mar-A-Lago. He's concluded he doesn't even need to add to the criticism - let Trump self-combust all on his own....

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Blacklabel, Republicans do not control anything until a speaker is selected, some of these Republicans will be referral for prosecution

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I love how some people are saying dodging taxes is a "normal part of business." These are the same people. by the way, that are upset the Biden administration is hiring more IRS agents to improve compliance. It's almost like folks want the corruption. hmmm..

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Criminal organization run by a criminal found guilty of a crime.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I love how some people are saying dodging taxes is a "normal part of business."

I’ll mark that on my calendar that you said that.

These are the same people. by the way, that are upset the Biden administration is hiring more IRS agents to improve compliance.

By going after the little man?? So they have enough to hire thousands of IRS agents, but have no money to secure the border? Yeah, you go ahead and believe that crap.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

I hope the counterpart criminal investigation looks into this....kind'a explains all those weird "love letter" exchanges.....

Trump Had Hidden $19.8 Million Loan From North Korea-Linked Company As President: Report

Donald Trump failed to disclose a $19.8 million loan from a company with ties to North Korea while he was president, Forbes reported Sunday, citing documents uncovered by the New York attorney general’s office. Trump owed the money to L/P Daewoo while he was campaigning in 2016 and into his presidency, according to records. He didn’t list the debt in financial disclosure filings, as candidates and presidents are expected to do.

I love how some people are saying dodging taxes is a "normal part of business."

Nobody cared about “fringe benefits” until an organization with Trump in front of it was found, correct.

your 87,000 IRS agents to prosecute people over a $600 venmo payment or selling something on eBay?

those are bye bye as we will focus on the whereabouts of 100 billion dollars to Ukraine that no one knows where it went.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Question I’m in a higher tax bracket and pay a lot, and I mean this now in all seriousness and sincerity, how much do you think is enough for the affluent to pay?

You previously said you earn $100,000 so not the highest tax bracket.

How many homes does Biden have again? Why is it that Democrats live in the wealthiest areas, but don’t live in the cities or neighborhoods they represent?

Two homes just like you do.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Another strike against Trump.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

He didn’t list the debt in financial disclosure filings, as candidates and presidents are expected to do.

required by law to do? Or just “expected” to do. Would have “expected” Joe to list the CCP money his son gave him too. That famous 10%. Did he?

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

your 87,000 IRS agents to prosecute people over a $600 venmo payment or selling something on eBay?

Yes bureaucratic and legal entities like the IRS target target small tax avoiders disproportionately because they do not have the funds to mount legal challenges like the fat cats.

And Trump did what to reform this during his tenure?

And the MAGA movement have a plan for this when they control the legislative branches?

Oh no, it is just more socialism for the rich for their corporate donors.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

your boy said "in Bob's words" so you guys must be close.

yes, they will defund the 87,000 armed IRS agents who would be chasing down grannies selling quilts on Etsy.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

And the MAGA movement have a plan for this when they control the legislative branches?

yes, they will defund the 87,000 armed IRS agents who would be chasing down grannies selling quilts on Etsy.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

You previously said you earn $100,000 so not the highest tax bracket.

I never, ever told you what I earn. I said, I’m in the higher tax bracket and I pay enough taxes, that’s what I said.

Two homes just like you do.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/factcheck/2020/10/22/fact-check-joe-biden-owns-2-homes-pictured-viral-meme/3720570001/

How can a public servant own a home like that on a taxpayer funded salary???

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

yes, they will defund the 87,000 armed IRS agents who would be chasing down grannies selling quilts on Etsy.

Defunding law enforcement... nice take.

Instead of having the resources to go after the massive tax frauds like Trump, or even just enacting tax laws that more accurately target massive rentier assets, as Warren Buffet argues.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

How can a public servant own a home like that on a taxpayer funded salary???

Because he is "The Big Guy"

now: everybody has always known the laptop and its contents are real, thats "old news", we reported on that extensively! (yeah but never reported it was real)

Feb next year: Everyone has always known Joe Biden is the Big Guy, thats "old news". we reported on that extensively! (but yeah never said Joe Biden was the one being referred to)

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Nobody cared about “fringe benefits” until an organization with Trump in front of it was found, correct

Not nobody. That is incorrect. Perhaps "some" people didn't, but clearly many did.

your 87,000 IRS agents to prosecute people over a $600 venmo payment or selling something on eBay?

Lol not "my IRS agents" - I'm not the government. And no, the IRS has been given instructions to focus on households with more than $400,000 in income. Not "$600 Venmo payments."

cnn.com/cnn/2022/08/11/politics/irs-inflation-act-funding-audit-enforcement/index.html

those are bye bye as we will focus on the whereabouts of 100 billion dollars to Ukraine that no one knows where it went.

Also not true. The US hasn't given 100 billion dollars to Ukraine.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Defunding law enforcement... nice take.

The IRS is "law enforcement" now?

Instead of having the resources to go after the massive tax frauds like Trump, or even just enacting tax laws that more accurately target massive rentier assets, as Warren Buffet argues.

We all know that 87,000 armed agents arent need to do that. There are only less than 1000 billionaires in the USA. But then again if there were more agents we could get some movement on the active Hunter and James Biden tax fraud cases, couldnt we? Oh wait, you mean those wont ever finish? then never mind.

How can a public servant own a home like that on a taxpayer funded salary???

Trump wrongly accused Biden of owning four homes but as in the article, you posted that was a lie.

"The couple purchased the vacation home after the former vice president left office, the same year their income jumped nearly $10 million from speaking fees and book deals."

Read your own linked article next time.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Blacklabel - the IRS has a law enforcement component, yes (IRS-CI)

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It also turns out that at the start of his presidency Trump was hiding $20 million in debt to a company that supported North Korea. And then he had love letters with Kim...

Now that we can see he is the head of a criminal organization, even fans of the Hunter Biden laptop story must see that he had something going on with North Korea as well. Why else would he want to hide his tax returns?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Defunding law enforcement... nice take.

And Dems continue to do so, there is a reason why crime is spiraling out of control in the largest urban cities, people can’t flee fast enough. When you don’t have police to protect you, your options are, purchase firearms and take the law into your own hands or move to a safer state.

Instead of having the resources to go after the massive tax frauds like Trump,

Or other dodgy Democrats…

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

The misinformation being spread by Trump fans through pure ignorance is astounding.

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2022/aug/11/kevin-mccarthy/kevin-mccarthys-mostly-false-claim-about-army-8700/

"The Treasury Department says people and small businesses making under $400,000 per year will see no change, while audits of corporations and high net-worth individuals will rise."

Going after the little guy, huh?

"But even in the 2021 plan, not all of the hires would be auditors, or work in enforcement. The report said the money would go toward many things, including "hiring new specialized enforcement staff, modernizing antiquated information technology, and investing in meaningful taxpayer service."

Hiring 87,000 auditors, right?

Your ignorance on details exposes your sources as manipulative.

 Not "$600 Venmo payments."

https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/money/2022/12/05/the-irs-to-mandate--600-reporting-rule-for-business-owners-on-payment-apps-

IRS warns about $600 reporting rule on payment apps

"The Internal Revenue Service is reminding Americans about a new reporting rule which will mandate that Americans who are paid for goods and services through apps such as PayPal, Venmo and Cash App to report their earnings, closing a tax loophole for online sellers. "

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

speaking of jail, both Michael Cohen and media darling Michael Avenatti made it to jail already (14 years!)

As they should, they were both criminals.

See, unlike you, we don't defend criminals, we condemn them.

But you still think Trump won in 2020, so...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The Internal Revenue Service is reminding Americans about a new reporting rule which will mandate that Americans who are paid for goods and services through apps such as PayPal, Venmo and Cash App to report their earnings, closing a tax loophole for online sellers. "

You'll notice nowhere in the article does it mention that the newly hired IRS agents will be targeting $600 Venmo payments.

Furthermore, I think it's a good thing these payments are now being reported. Without such a requirement, it's easy to see how one could make small payments to avoid anti-laundering measures.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So why sis the left trying so hard to suppress the details of the laptop?

Two things come immediately to mind when you consider how that laptop came into the hands of law enforcement through a third party. As I understand it the laptop was in a computer shop for repair and the proprietor saw something or some things that looked criminal and gave it to law enforcement. Correct me if I am wrong on that part.

Number one how would you feel about the contents of your home computer or personal laptop being made public? Just asking. Making it public before there are indictments based on its contents could be grounds for a civil suit.

Number two, if there is anything on it that is evidence of a crime (and I am not saying there isn't because none of know the facts one way or the other), would the FBI want that to be in the public realm before they have a chance to drop indictments? Whatever is on that laptop could lead to other evidence not currently in the possession of law enforcement. Allowing the contents of the laptop to be made public could cause others to destroy evidence not already in the hands of law enforcement and for other potentially culpable parties to develop alabias and ruin parts of the investigation. That is why evidence presented to a judge to justify a search warrant is not generally made public before there are indictments.

maybe we need to look at everyone in Congress.  I mean, haven't there been members of Congress who have put their family and friends on the payroll as "employees" to help them?

But you should be fine with this, since you’ve said multiple times that you like nepotism and think it’s good.

"The Treasury Department says people and small businesses making under $400,000 per year will see no change, while audits of corporations and high net-worth individuals will rise."

Going after the little guy, huh?

Trump used this variant of "trickle down theory' with his pitch to his working class supporters.

"I gamed the system and didn't pay taxes, and when I'm in power you can do it too!"

Didn't happen of course. But a lot of his supporters just can't face they were played.

The Republican Party use this all the time when making tax cuts for the rich; saying it will bring big savings for the middle class and create good jobs.

All of which never happen.

Everything in America is turning into Political gaming. So will the Republicans now go after key Democrat supporting Companies ? I wouldn't be surprised at all.

It's also very easy to see, even here, that there are those who support Democrats and there are those who support Republicans, and neither side will be friends with each other. It must be hard living in the US - can you imagine finding your dream home, only to learn that the neighborhood support the opposing party ?

During his closing argument, prosecutor Joshua Steinglass attempted to refute the claim that Trump knew nothing about the scheme. He showed jurors a lease Trump signed for Weisselberg’s company-paid apartment and a memo Trump initialed authorizing a pay cut for another executive who got perks.

The "Black Sharpie"....the smoking gun for the counterpart criminal trial...

You would have thought Trump would have learned that lesson after signing that check to Stormy...

Get ready for more "I plead the Fifth"....just like "the mob"....
