He called for a military buildup so broad that no foe would challenge the U.S. and how do you expect to pay for all that Trump! This idiot is just asking for another cold war. Russia will always be equally formidable in there military. To think that America will suddenly make Russia its bitch through sheer military size just shows you how idiotic this guy is. Im no fan of Putin but Russia brings a balance in world power, without them a President like Trump would be set on world domination.

Debate this week. Double down, dude - double down. How are you going to argue against giving veterans the finest healthcare available and overly fund "defense"? You can't, see due to the constrictions of a debate format. My guess is that some candidate will up the ante - maybe free Malibu houses for veterans? (We could pay for this by cutting teachers' salaries.)

As an American, I apologize to everyone around the world for this clown.

America is facing lots of problems but I still believe America is a great country. Seeing a clown like him running for president and actally gainng support is really terrible. Americans, please do not make your nation the laughing stock of the world!

Us voters get what they deserve. at the moment this moron is framing the debate on the right and quite possibly will end up framing the national debate, polarizing the US even further and bankrupting the country into the bargain.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

The Republican front-runner gave no details on how he would pay for an expansion in the armed forces — or veterans’ health care —

Since when did arithmetic concern Republicans?

"Deficits don't matter"

A moron decried by and needed by the morons in his party at the same time. I say Trump should quit the GOP, given that they are all coming up with ways to oust him anyway, and run as a third party candidate. They beg him to sign a pledge of commitment to them, but then turn around and team up on him, so while they desperately need him not to I say he should go for it and stick it to them one more time in the best way possible.

Trump is grabbing one headline after another with his daring statements. And how about the others in the GOP race? Seems as if the best they can do is attack Trump. Can't these guys get their heads screwed on the right way? As for the Democrats, they ain't doing very much either as their challenges appear rather dull. So far, overall, Trump is trumping both fields.

Trump pledges military buildup

Dude knows where the money is.

"frustrated veterans"

How could there be frustrated veterans after six years of Obama?

"Deficits don't matter"

Oh, I know for a fact you're not going there, right?? Pleeese don't do that. ROFL

A moron decried by and needed by the morons in his party at the same time.

So you're now calling a big chunk of former Obama voters both Liberal and conservative idiots, that's really nice, seriously.

I say Trump should quit the GOP, given that they are all coming up with ways to oust him anyway, and run as a third party candidate.

No, he signed that pledge already, so No can do, but No one cares about the GOP or the DNC, the establishment Washington politicians for that matter and Trump is not a part of that world. So how's Hillary doing these days?

They beg him to sign a pledge of commitment to them, but then turn around and team up on him, so while they desperately need him not to I say he should go for it and stick it to them one more time in the best way possible.

Homie, Trump ain't a fool, he's not taking that bait, he knows what the results would be. How's Hllary's campaign been doing?

America is facing lots of problems but I still believe America is a great country.

Couldn't agree more with you!!

Seeing a clown like him running for president and actally gainng support is really terrible. Americans, please do not make your nation the laughing stock of the world!

We already did that 7 years ago, we're used to it by now.

I see Ben Carson is now polling at 23% toTrump's 27%, whilst Jeb is limping along at like 6%, lol.

This guy is a blow hard and if he becomes the president of the united states I will give up my US pass port. I will not live in a country where this idiot had even more power.

Ha! Welcome to my world, now you understand why I decided to NOT move back permanently back to the States these last 7 years, but the way things are shaping up, I might dust off my passport in 419 days and move back.

As an American, I apologize to everyone around the world for this clown.

No need to apologize for Trump. As Americans we pride ourselves on individuality , Trump is still just a citizen of our country, and he's promoting himself as is. God forbid should he make it into office, but if he does it will reflect on the vast majority of how the voting citizens in our country think. Remember the last election for Congress and Senate voter turnout was drastically low.

IMHO it was because too many liberals were too busy getting high with the legalization of recreational marijuana in certain states that they didn't have the brains to vote which allowed more conservative voters become a much higher percentage of people who actually voted, which allowed the GOP to have more control of both houses.

So remember, if you're American and don't like how things are run, actually involve yourself in the democratic process. It's both a privilege and a right that some countries don't even have. And we have to learn to stop taking it for granted to the point we don't do our civic duty. It would be nice if voter turnout was around 80% or higher instead of around 60% and lower.

Dr. Frankenstein regretted creating his monster. But Republican politicians refuse to take responsibility for the base they've been cultivating for 60 years. You don't need an entire book to define Trump. One word does it perfectly. Schmuck!

3 ( +5 / -2 )

At least Trump is good at politics - Bush made the mistake of releasing a budget plan sufficiently detailed that it could be analyzed, and - guess what?! - it is a huge transfer to not just the 1% but the 0.01%! Good luck defending that, Jeb, against a shape-shifting demagogue in the debate tomorrow. Listen, we all know in which direction you want income to flow, but Jeb, couldn't you at least surprise us as Trump is doing?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

As an American, I apologize to everyone around the world for this clown.

Why? Just let him ramble on, it's very entertaining. Sometimes he is spot on. Didn't you hear his remarks on the iran nuclear deal?

I see Ben Carson is now polling at 23% toTrump's 27%, whilst Jeb is limping along at like 6%, lol.

Gotta' love american politics. U guys remember when obama and Sara Palin were trolling each other?

“We’re going to build a wall.”

Mr. Trump, who do ya think is going to build that wall? (hello- Illegal mexican day laborers).

I might dust off my passport in 419 days and move back.

Bass, take me along too please.

A military buildup? The ignorance is astounding. Not his. His listeners.

If they knew anything, they would not be able to stop laughing. The U.S.A. outspends the rest of the entire world combined. Yes, you read that right. You have the U.S.A. on one side, and the entire rest of the world on the other. America alone outspends everyone else. America spends 5 times or more on the military than China. America has the best equipment and the best trained soldiers to use that equipment. The sun never sets on the U.S. military, as its all over the globe, with bases everywhere.

And what enemy has challenged America? Some guerrillas in Timbuktu? Why would anyone think even more regular forces would scare them? What makes Americans so very very afraid? Do they think jihadists are going to use their Korans as floating devices, and paddle across the ocean on the power of their faith?

Yeah, there was 9/11. But that's not going to happen again. That fluke was 14 years ago. It was a total lucky strike make possible by some extraordinarily dedicated terrorists whose like we may never see again. Plus there was the lack of coordination in the U.S. government whose like we may never see again.

Americans really need to study up on current events and grow a pair too. It takes the true coward heart of a bully to think what American needs is even more military might when the entire freaking world would have trouble taking America down at this point.

As for the vets, no sympathy. Without the vets, these recent ill begotten wars could never have happened. I am sick of their "just following orders" rap that didn't work in Nuremburg. They got their salary. They got that padding on their resume. And they got a lot of people dead for nothing and got away with it. So shove off.

Mr. Trump is catering to the regressive members of the nation. Those who refuse to live in today. Consider the psychology, of those who support him. People who have grave issues with modern societ, AND want to return to the fifties . Angry at being left behind by their own choice , and yet agreement o of problems. but no salutions. Fear this land if he does get elected.l

0 ( +4 / -4 )

If they want a return to the '50's it was because we had a president who had a sense of urgency about illegal immigration when he took office and was able to roll back the number of Mexicans crossing the border unlawfully 95% by the end of the decade. Yeah I'll go with that.

Trump said. “We’re going to build a wall.” . . . "gave no details on how he would pay for an expansion in the armed forces — or veterans’ health care — " . . . "he has so far offered little in the way of detailed policies on national security or foreign policy" . . . "He has said he would become an expert on U.S. interests abroad by the time he becomes president." — article

Rump has all the appeal of a cardboard cut-out. (not unlike at his Trump University scams)

Rump's building walls, spending Trillions on a global war, paying for everything with the charisma of a used car dealer and a racism of delusional belief the Middle East is a Rubik Cube only he can solve.

As diagnosed before, narcissism mixed with a messianic complex wrapped tightly in the thin skin of the crybaby. What Rump shows is how desperate and delusional a large part of the gop-tea is. Worst, it shows how much of the gop-tea is caught like deer in the headlights when anything like a coherent view of the world would help them retain any dignity. And that's too bad.

You just described Obama to a tee!

Hmmmm, never knew the GOP was a big war tank advocate, maybe we all missed something and the Black Lives Matter movement the DNC supports is not besmirched at all with racism whatsoever.

Worst, it shows how much of the gop-tea is caught like deer in the headlights when anything like a coherent view of the world would help them retain any dignity. And that's too bad.

Please, oh, please tell that to Obama, because for some strange benign reason, he doesn't get that point.

@ Madverts: I guess you didn't see over the weekend Bernie Sanders 10 year plan that was in the NYT. In it he proposes $16 trillion in spending for things like free college for everyone, increased Medicare (don't we have Obamacare now), some infrastructure building and other socialist goodies for everyone. Yet, his plan calls for about $6 trillion in taxes to be collected during this same 10 year period. So where will the other $10 trillion come from, and keep in mind this is an additional spending amounts to the regular spending the US does anyway.

So for those who think that they are embarrassed about Trump running, you should be more embarrassed that the Dems are seriously looking at Bernie Sanders as a candidate, as well as Hillary and all of her scandals as the front runners, and maybe even brining in Joe Biden.

At least with the GOP, even though they may have different opinions they have some diversity in the field in regards to thoughts and beliefs. Yet the Dems based on the fact that the party bosses are trying to keep the debates to a few to help out Hillary and keep the other potential runners out of sight and away from the donors and public are not really espousing the true democratic ideals of letting the people decide. Just more of the same old "smoke filled back room" politics that kept places like Tammany Hall and Boss Tweed running NYC Democrats for a long time.

If you want to be ashamed of the USA then do so, but be ashamed for the workings of the Dems and their operations as well as Trump.

Okay. Do you have link to that NYT article? Or were you referring to the WSJ article? In any case, no, that's not the cost of his plan.

A good rule of thumb is to be skeptical ...

No, Bernie Sanders is not going to bankrupt America to the tune of $18 trillion https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2015/09/15/no-bernie-sanders-is-not-going-to-bankrupt-america-to-the-tune-of-18-trillion/

As a general matter, when you see a headline with an unimaginably large number, chances are it’s going to confuse you more than it will enlighten you. The question when it comes to government should always be not what we’re spending, but what we’re getting for what we spend.

You might have a point about Hillary, her supporting the Iraq invasion and all, but the rest.... delirious nonsense.
