What about the people who need a pain killer? Why are we more worried about those who abuse it? Have those who are trying to get rid of the pain killer ever felt real pain? What about answers to these simple, but important, questions?

Because some people misbehave, all of us are punished. Makes sense, eh?

Where in the article does it say that anyone with a legitimate pain issue will lose access to their pain killers?

I can't say I know much about the specifics, other than these drugs were being handed out like candy. Good on Trump and the government for stepping in to do something about it. Let's hope the big drug companies don't buy their way around it.

OMG a very, very big statement! Is it going to be a beautiful statement or perhaps the most wonderful statement ever? I can't wait any longer. Please tell us Mr. Trump.

A meeting on opioids .... does that mean they will be taking them, sitting on them, or talking about them ? :-)

Here's hoping Trump, his admin staff and all members of Congress, even those who've received millions from big pharma, make inroads on this issue. Hats off to all who try.

I actually looked an "old" Frontline episode on YouTube about it.

DT should declare war on opioids. Obama administration was warned and didn't do much.

DT should also push for drug courts.

CrazyJoe: over 64k people died of overdose in the US last year.

You said the inverse about guns.

President Trump was not a politician and so he doesn't accept or receive political donations from the big pharmaceutical company. Some of the Politicians have received tens of thousands of dollar political donation from the big pharmaceutical company. He will take on those big pharmaceutical companies which produce Opioid drugs. Those pharmaceutical Companies are also bribing the doctors with expensive gift and a kickback system for to prescript Opioid drug like Oxycontin to drug abusers. The drug abuse was epidemic problem for the United State.
