Which is true

Nope. The Democrats included the Republicans in bipartisan committees, held open hearings, and made concessions to Republican wishes.

Demonstrably false.

No, the exact opposite happened

Nope. The Republicans did not include the Democrats in any bipartisan committees, did not hold any open hearings, and made no concessions to Democratic wishes.

Demonstrably false.

I don't spin anything

Yes you do. You're trying to divert from the fact that the Democrats included the Republicans in bipartisan committees, held open hearings, and made concessions to Republican wishes, and trying to divert from the fact that the Republicans did not include the Democrats in any bipartisan committees, did not hold any open hearings, and made no concessions to Democratic wishes.

Demonstrably false.

That was a lot of text for a bunch of false justifications.

False?? Yeah, sure....It comes down to this. When creating Obamacare, the Democrats included the Republicans, by creating bipartisan committees, having open hearings, and making concessions to Republican wishes.

As long as the Republicans didn't strip the provisions in the bill that they object to.

After the fact, Republicans went on to lie that Obamacare was created behind closed doors, and that the democrats didn't include them.

Which is true, it didn't go before the Senate because the Democrats knew it wasn't going to pass, so they rammed it through.

Then when the Republicans gained power, they did exactly that which they lied about - they created their bill behind closed doors and didn't include the Republicans.

No, the exact opposite happened, the Democrats were never going to go with anything that would strip any provisions or alter Obamacare in any way. Of course, they are the party of entitlements, why would they sign up for something that would get rid of the president Obama's biggest entitlement. The problem is, the GOP individually all have different ideas on how to fix this mess, but so far, none of them can agree on one solution. The GOP for the most part never wanted to be in the business of any governmental entitlement as large as this. Either way, under its current form, Obamacare is going to collapse and it should, at the same time, the GOP are moving too slow, they're not trying hard enough, they don't want to deal with the blowback from the people that DO like it, bu no one ever said that sausage making would be fun to watch. The Democrats had 7 years to bring premiums down, they didn't, they lost big.

You can try to spin it any way you want, but the above is factual. Your spins are attempts to divert away from that.

I don't spin anything, it's just comical when the left thinks that the right will agree for a giant government monstrosity. I've been a conservative for most of my life and to think that these people are giddy about MORE government involvement is just nonsense as well as hilarious. But once again, the Dems are the ones out in the wilderness and if they would just tell the truth once in awhile, stop hating, stop whining, stop trying to rob Paul to give to Peter, stop over taxing people, really care about the people and not the party (yes, the GOP do the same stupid thing) they could win elections.

Seriously? What kind of health care do you think they had in the 1700's? Since leeches were still a legitimate cure then, I think the framers of the Constitution can be forgiven for not forseeing the need for health insurance.

They believed that govt should stay out of the way of Americans except where absolutely required. They knew that they couldn't cover every possible situation, which is why the Constitution has a method to be modified, when needed, AND when most of the country agrees. This has happened 27 times. If nationalized health care is the goal AND to be run by the federal govt, amend the constitution. Otherwise go away.

BTW, I'd vote for a national, single payer, health care plan provided it addressed the issue of cost control. I expect that would result in rationing elderly care. Doing everything possible to keep an 85 yr old alive is just financially stupid.

Re-interpreting their words in ways they never intended does them a disservice.

I literally cannot decipher what you are saying here.

I think if liberals would listen and try to understand more, they'd be winning a lot more elections.

But knowing you, I can guess what it is. The important point of this comment is that your usage of 'but not the ones...' shows that you do agree the Democrats made some concessions to Republican wishes when crafting Obamacare, contrary to your previous claims that the Democrats didn't include Republicans at all.

Yes, as long as that concession meets their agendas and it don't, both parties were at odds on how to fix the rising cost of premiums, the left didn't want to budge or give up any unnecessary provisions.

Let's look at the Republican plan now - can you name a single concession that has been made to the Democrats with the new plan? Even one?

No, I cannot, but that shouldn't come to you as a surprise, the right would never agree to more entitlements and the left won't give any up.

I'm sure non-partisan you would have to condemn the Republicans for not even including the Democrats, when you admit that the Democrats included the Republicans.

They did, the door is open, Schumer and his lemmings refused....and still nothing, no ideas and no solutions, it's back to the forest.

But we all know you're not non-partisan, so I have zero expectations that you would condemn the Republicans for that.

For all the bravado the left bragging about being highly educated liberals seems to not read what any conservative writes. Please go back and see how I excoriate the GOP on this issue. So, nice try.

Which they didn't even need to consider, because the Democrats conceded it to them.

8 years and the Dems conceded nothing and then they wonder why they can't win elections and why did they lose over 1000 legislative seats.

You keep saying that, but the democrats aren't the ones who can come together even if they want to, because they have no power. The onus is on the Republicans, who have all the power, to come to the Democrats. They haven't, so that's their fault.

They can come, but they can't force the Dems to work with them and with all the crying that these loons are doing, I think they are incapable of seeing past their tears.

Back when the Republicans were 'locked out of the house', the Democrats created bipartisan committees and held open hearings, 'talking it out' with the Republicans.

Ok, that was long ago, those days are over, they can't even see beyond this Russian nonsense, how the heck can they tackle Obamacare? Just look at Maxine Waters. Dear lord....

The Republicans then made false claims that the Democrats had 'kept the door locked and refused to talk', and now that they are in power, they have locked the door, and are refusing to talk.

The Dems can make up any fairytale and laughable story they want, it's hot, the grass is green and the Democrats will be there a very long time, which is fine by me. Lol

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

But not the ones that didn't go against the Republicans principles.

I'm sure non-partisan you would have to condemn the Republicans for not even including the Democrats, when you admit that the Democrats included the Republicans.

But we all know you're not non-partisan, so I have zero expectations that you would condemn the Republicans for that.

And the GOP would have NEVER agreed to in a million years.

Which they didn't even need to consider, because the Democrats conceded it to them.

both sides NOW especially need to come together and try to fix this

You keep saying that, but the democrats aren't the ones who can come together even if they want to, because they have no power. The onus is on the Republicans, who have all the power, to come to the Democrats. They haven't, so that's their fault.

If my wife locks me out of the house and won't talk to me, and my neighbor says to me 'you guys need to talk it out', how exactly am I as the locked out spouse supposed to talk to talk it out, when my wife won't even discuss with me? This is the situation with the Republicans and the Democrats. If there is to be a discussion to move forward, the only party that can initiate that is the Republicans.

Back when the Republicans were 'locked out of the house', the Democrats created bipartisan committees and held open hearings, 'talking it out' with the Republicans. The Republicans then made false claims that the Democrats had 'kept the door locked and refused to talk', and now that they are in power, they have locked the door, and are refusing to talk.

Gripes with Republicans as well as Democrats, eh? You really expect anyone to believe that after brazen toadying like this?

Yes, but partisans, No, I do not.

There were plenty of compromises.

But not the ones that didn't go against the Republicans principles.

The main one being that the democrats dropped the single-payer plan, which is what they wanted.

And the GOP would have NEVER agreed to in a million years.

There were numerous other concessions given based on Republican input, from the bi-partisan committees that were created to discuss Obamacare.

Yes, But with excessive provisions that the GOP thought were unnecessary and too costly.

The Republicans then went on to not only to make the same false claims you do in the quote above, they even went on to do exactly that which they falsely criticized when they came to power.

Because the Dems made it that the GOP were unwilling to compromise, yes, that's true. They were never going to compromise on anything that would balloon the deficit and cost more take payer money and drastically increase premium costs.

The democrats are not the ones in power. The Republicans are, and they have not brought the democrats into the conversation at all, have created no bipartisan committees at which the Democrats could put aside differences, and the Republicans haven't even presented the bill to be seen and discussed by the Democrats.

They haven't brought the Democrats in because the Dems don't want to go in and take part in this junk they're created. Now if the Dems want some payback for the GOP not willing to sign something that goes against their political beliefs fine, but this will go on and on, back and forth because the GOP will remember this as well and this cycle of hate will only worsen. I'm not saying the Dems should give in to their principles, but the GOP won't give in to theirs either, so both sides NOW especially need to come together and try to fix this, the Dems could look like the big boy in the room if they did this. I never liked Obamacare and thought it was a huge mistake to implement a huge entitlement and the facts are showing it as the insurance companies are bailing faster than the Titanic, the GOP botched this round, so now the time for partisan politics on this issue needs to come to an end and both sides now need to fix this.

You are right, it would be good for differences to be put aside, but at the moment, the Republicans have all the power, and if any differences are to be put aside, they are literally the only ones who can do it since the democrats hold none of the power. For that matter, the Republicans don't even need the Democrats to put aside their differences right now, because the Republicans control everything, and should be able to do what they want without any differences being put aside whatsoever.

They don't need them, but the Dems don't want to inject themselves into anything that would get this thing repealed. They will not do it, they should, but they won't.

The fact that they are unable to do this shows just how much a failure they are. Then you guys try to blame the Democrats for Republican failings.

Yes, the Dems for creating this mess and the GOP for promising something that they knew they couldn't do and don't believe in.

The GOP would never, ever go along with a massive national debt killer like that, not even on their best day.

Gripes with Republicans as well as Democrats, eh? You really expect anyone to believe that after brazen toadying like this?

There were plenty of compromises.

Yes, Obama's my way or No way and "elections have consequences.

The main one being that the democrats dropped the single-payer plan, which is what they wanted. There were numerous other concessions given based on Republican input, from the bi-partisan committees that were created to discuss Obamacare.

The GOP would never, ever go along with a massive national debt killer like that, not even on their best day.

The Republicans then went on to not only to make the same false claims you do in the quote above, they even went on to do exactly that which they falsely criticized when they came to power.

No, no false claims, it's just the GOP are not into the entitlement zone and they would have never agreed to that. But Trump is right, it's going to fold, just give it the funeral it so rightly deserves, put it out of its misery.

For that matter, the Republicans don't even need the Democrats to put aside their differences right now, because the Republicans control everything, and should be able to do what they want without any differences being put aside whatsoever.

But unlike the lemming Democrats there are just too many differences within the party to come up with a full consensus. They aren't all in lockstep with each other.

The fact that they are unable to do this shows just how much a failure they are.

The Dems as well, that's why they're all searching for grubs

Then you guys try to blame the Democrats for Republican failings.

No, the Dems failed miserably that's why they lost so big.

I still cannot find anywhere in the Constitution where health care is delegated by the states or listed in the Constitution.

Seriously? What kind of health care do you think they had in the 1700's? Since leeches were still a legitimate cure then, I think the framers of the Constitution can be forgiven for not forseeing the need for health insurance.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Passing any health care bill isn't the answer.

There is a cultural issue with single-payer health systems in the USA. It rings of socialism and that is a "bad word" to 50% of Americans.

Having nationwide insurance pools should help costs, but there is a flaw. There's a pesky clause in the Constitution (10th Amendment):

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor

prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively,

or to the people.

That's the complete text of the amendment, BTW. I still cannot find anywhere in the Constitution where health care is delegated by the states or listed in the Constitution. Same for social security or federal income taxes. Those are all over-reaching the allowed powers.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

bottom line is I don't care how many people lose insurance, I don't care how many people die, I don't care how this affects the USA going forward but I must destroy Obamacare. Because he dissed me once.

You've hit the nail on the head. Bet he would never have gone after it if they hadn't called it Obamacare. Trump has even spoken in support of single payer health care in the past. He has a strange obsession with Obama, though.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It's been well documented that Trump squandered the family fortune, and that most of his businesses weren't successful until his children took over. In recent years he has made some money selling his name and image as a TV personality, but most of his businesses have failed through poor management, to the point that US banks won't extend credit to him any more. I believe that the money from the Apprentice was drying up and so he decided to run for president to make money. I do think he didn't expect to win, and just wanted to ride the donations and book deals, TV appearances, etc., for as long as he could, but winning gave him an unprecedented money making opportunity as well as an insane ego boost.

Obama didn't want to compromise and he just kept ramming everything through

Criticism of the Republican plan does not equate to thinking Obamacare is without fault, except for extreme team players.

Well, we can definitely agree on that!

Liberals on this site have regularly stated it would be better if the Republicans worked on fixing what doesn't work with Obamacare, rather than trying to straight out repeal it, or creating a worse plan like the Republicans have been trying to.

The Problem was when they did do it a few times, there were so many provisions that the GOP objected to and thought were over-excessive and too costly and could see in the long run that these problems would arise, Obama didn't want to compromise and he just kept ramming everything through, so if the GOP doesn't follow with the rest of the herd, then Obama used his phone and pen and rammed it through like a chorizo sausage.

That would be the ideal, but unlike when Obamacare was created, the Republicans have not worked with the democrats at all on this matter. If they ever decide to do so, then maybe things can be fixed.

You are right, but now if the Dems really care abou people then they should come together, put their differences aside and come to a middle ground, if they don't and if Dems ever get back into power need to work with the GOP, they will do the same thing and we will swept in an unending perpetual cycle of tit for tat.

I think most of the posters here have no idea what Obamacare is. They just see the word Obama and think WOW must be great!

It is also a fact that repealing and replacing Obamacare will happen in the future.

How is a prediction of the future a fact? It would appear you're not clear on what a fact is.

in the end the Democrats will come on board and between the two parties we will get a much better healthcare plan.

The Trumpcare bill is a lot like Trump's tax returns - both likely exist, but no one has ever seen either. So GOPers are expected to vote to proceed tomorrow on a bill they've never seen and which hasn't been scored by the CBO.

I'm not sure which would be ultimately worse for the GOP: success or failure. My guess is that the latter is the least bad choice, but we'll see where the dice fall (as long as McConnell doesn't yank the bill).

5 ( +5 / -0 )

And now it's up to us to get great health care for the American people.

Another bi-line from the master marketer and liar in chief.

If he was serious and not just lying like normal, he would get the Democrats involved and pass single payer health care.

Then I may respect this albatross.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

His statements were thoroughly disgusting. And to call Democrats "obstructionists" is truly the pot calling the kettle "black." How ever did 62 million Americans vote for such a person...

Inherited hundreds of millions.

No, got a start up loan, paid his father back 2 times over and by the way nothing wrong with getting an inheritance. If you got money and want to give it to a family member, good on them.

And any lib here that would inherit millions from a family member wouldn't say a negative word about it.

You guys....lol

Maybe. Depending on debts owed.

But it this is all just a diversion from his failure on health care reform.

Sounds like fake news to me. Trump is obviously a confirmed billionaire. Trump Tower and other NY real estate is waaaaay over a billion dollars in value.

Sure except for the fact he inherited a couple million dollars not a couple BILLION.

If he even has a couple of billion. Remember, we only have his claims to go by. And remember how he likes to inflate... everything. Inauguration numbers anyone?

Wonder how all that wealth flew into his pocket.

Why can't Congress look at alternative ways to provide heath care to 350,000,000 people? The answer is Show me the $$$. Insurance companies donate millions to individual members of Congress and the insurance companies have to make a profit to pay stock holders a dividend. Congress will make the correct decision and protect the members' future donation income and the shares of profits for stock holders.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Someone who was born rich enough never to have to worry about health insurance, and who has never worked a day in his life, is not qualified to discuss health plans.

Never worked a day in his life??? Wonder how all that wealth flew into his pocket. LOL

I agree, let Obamacare die at this point. For the millions that have to overpay in penalties and can't pay their premiums, this is almost a blessing, now let's see if the GOP can come up with another alternative or at the very least, start from fresh and go back to the past which worked out fine for millions of people and just work on making an affordable and quality healthcare plan for the people that don't have access to coverage, I'm all for that.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

What great health care? Any good plan so far?

Didn't they say Trump's new bill was dead last week?

When the Republicans were in opposition, they voted something like 50+ times to repeal Obamacare. Now it looks like they're probably going to try to come up with some crappy alternative 50+ times for which they'll never actually end up having a vote on.

The Republican party is a failure. With the top failure leading them.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The health insurance companies have come out against this bill, citing, among other reasons, that the "junk plans" the bill authorizes will be a regulatory nightmare. Insurance is regulated at the state level, so the "buy your insurance across state lines" thing that Trump keeps touting is basically meaningless. No insurance company will want to pay the costs to make a plan compliant in multiple states, so they will never offer such plans. The whole idea is ridiculous and obviously dreamed up by someone who doesn't understand the insurance system at all. When even the companies who are supposed to be protected by your plan think it is garbage, well, that should tell you something.

"Obamacare is death."

Another fewer than 7 words meme for his followers to shout at their next rally and to use in greeting at their gun clubs.

Lock Trump up! Before he's able to drag the US and large parts of the world farther down while making himself, his family members and fellow .01%-ers even richer and the 'everyday, average Americans' and other citizens throughout the world poorer. The income gap between the richest and the rest continues to widen. But then that's what the Republican Party and the global elite want. Republicans: you got what you wanted. Own it.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

"Any senator that votes against starting debate is telling America that you are fine with the Obamacare nightmare," Trump said at the White House,"

No, what it means is that the current Bills (2 Senate versions and the House version) kill too many Americans every year without fixing any problems of the ACA. In other words, they are healthcare Removal Bills and do nothing to improve healthcare.

It is sad that we have a "president" who cares so little about the people he will sentence to death to be informed.
