The US president don't have the power to take over land owned by another country on his own.

If Trump and the GOP would just get to passing laws, they'd be much more effective. As they are learning, laws are harder to get around. Executive orders just require weak underlings and can be undone when the next guy gets elected and undoes them. Laws require more effort to undo ... provided they are Constitutional.

Trump needs to get his loyal GOP lackeys to start creating bills to be presented to Congress. The good ones will pass and Trump can sign them into law. Perhaps that bi-partisan immigration bill from last year needs to be dusted off, tweaked a bit, and sent through Congress before the GOP loses their majority in 1.5 yrs and can't get anything done?

Or is Trump too stupid to work the system for what he wants. Don't answer that. We already know.

Hmmm…Want has less to do with it then need. What we won't do is allow missiles to fly over us from the North without a way to detect and shoot them down before they reach America. We also won't allow China and Russia to divide up the Arctic ocean and all arctic coastlines, so this is far, far from over.

Trump should stop wasting taxpayers' money on his illogical obsession over Greenland. They will never be owned by the U.S. They will achieve independence someday.

By the way, has anyone seen these cool "Make America Go Away" hats Greenlanders made?

Says everything about how they feel.

The supreme irony is EU territory is going to change hands under duress, and it is not the Russia-China bogeyman they bang their drums on about like infantile juveniles.

Trying to secure the The region surrounding the USA and the entire Americas Continent should be a very serious obsession, you can gladly have all my tax money

They will never be owned by the U.S.

No one ever said that, except the delusional left

They will achieve independence someday.

Absolutely!

By the way, has anyone seen these cool "Make America Go Away" hats Greenlanders made?

Well, they can make any banner they want, negotiations take time and we have more than enough

Says everything about how they feel.

They can feel anyway they want, neither China or Russia care, believe me.

The US already has a missile base in Greenland. Nothing to do with Greenland becoming part of the US. Europe is America's first line of defense against a Russian attack but Trump wants to weaken that security.

Steve Bannon, teetotaller, said a year or so ago that Trump shoots of a rapid fire number of different ideas in a day and the press and we, scramble to decipher , to see which are troll notes and which may be serious .

Im thinking the "Greenland thing " is on the trolling side.

Not going to happen under Trump , so I cant see him having a sustained interest in this.

Denmark is a NATO ally of the United States, and northwestern Greenland already houses the U.S. Pituffik military base that falls under the Pentagon's Space Force.

The visit of "the wife of the United States vice president and the United States president’s highest security adviser cannot be seen only as a private visit,” he said. “We can already see now, how big a mess it’s caused.”

So MAGA-fans, how is this any different than Mexico saying it should "take over" Texas?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How can a president protest what Putin is doing in Ukraine when Trump is behaving like this about Greenland?

Lead by example and respect Denmark’s/Greenland’s sovereignty.

One is an asset, the other a liability:

Because Greenland is an actual minerals bonanza with access to the Artic - meaning two jackpots (each containing a long string of jackpots) for the price of one - plus it is actually strategically relevant to the US.

That other place, by contrast, is actually a drag costing hundreds of billions, like a money-sinkhole, and not a core national security concern by any reasonable measure.

Well one difference is that I would cheer the Mexicans on to take Texas off our hands. : )

The US already has a major military base with long range radars there and the only deep water port in the region. Military considerations are already taken care of.

Well, there you go, more incentive right there to make the claim

Nothing to do with Greenland becoming part of the US.

South America is not part of the US, and guess who pretty much defends it? They all have militaries, but they are very limited in what they can do

Europe is America's first line of defense against a Russian attack

Yeah, I deeply worry about that one.

but Trump wants to weaken that security.

Europe is already weak, what are you talking about???

Ooooh, somebody got new talking points from his favorite far-right pundits!

Sorry, not that kind of a guy.

So it's a military issue now, huh? A few days ago it was just about ressources...

Both, yes.

Here is the reality, whatever this......guy thinks lol...

Greenland is not big enough to be a stand-alone nation.

With only 60,000 people, they just don't have the numbers to field a government, law enforcement, fire, hospital, schools, other govt services along with an industry, while also having a military to defend themselves.

It's a number issue.

Greenland politicians aren't screaming for the people but for their own power.

Bass...when was the last time "South America " was attacked and needed defending ?

The Falklands War. ?..Cortez. ? Inca on Aztec ?

US history in Latin America is one of INTERFERENCE not defence.

Maaate...you seem a little intoxicated on MAGA and US importance everywhere.

What's next....?

Almost scared to ask...its Greenland isn't it ?

That would be like saying, why no one attacked the baby bear cub.

The Falklands War. ?..Cortez. ? Inca on Aztec ?

US history in Latin America is one of INTERFERENCE not defence.

Their history is corruption and more corruption without the US interference.

Maaate...you seem a little intoxicated on MAGA and US importance everywhere.

Because it is, buddy.

What's next....?

Almost scared to ask...its Greenland isn't it ?

In due time.
