Perhaps he will. Or perhaps he'll flip-flop once more or outright cave to the highest bidders. After all, with Trump it's all about the bucks stopping in his or his family's pockets. Re caving to the highest bidder, does anyone know how much more the NRA promised Trump (and his GOP enablers) in additional campaign contributions to get him to do the 180 on gun background checks?
Laguna
Ha ha! Nó. This is just another example of Trump displaying his ignorance.
Chip Star
Donny cannot simply end birthright citizenship by EO because it's been long established to be a constitutional edict. What a complete and utter moron, just like anyone who supports him.
Dango bong
name 5 countries in the industrialized world that have birthright citizenship........ that's what I thought... America should not have it either...
theFu
US Constitution matters once again.
But I would agree to an amendment that requires at least 1 parent to be legally inside the USA as either a citizen or a permanent resident for citizenship by location to be conveyed.
Conveying citizenship for people on short-term visas, TPS entries, or illegally inside the USA has been abused for a very long time.
Chip Star
Name five industrialized countries without socialized medicine . . . that's what I thought . . . America should have it too . . .
The Avenger
Its hilarious that trump's 3 oldest children were born before their mother had citizenship in the US. Are they going to become Czech?
extanker
Yeah, I mean, it's not like their dad was American or anything...
Chip Star
Just like the original post to which I was replying. Smooth one.
Ah_so
Not in the context of the argument that was originally presented.
Name give other industrialised countries that allow unfettered access to guns?
Chip Star
Trumpophiles don't want to pay attention to context unless it gives them an advantage. They are masters at advancing bad-faith arguments.
Bugle Boy of Company B
They should remove it retroactively. I have to hide my disgust every tine I listen to a Japanese couple talk about how they went to Hawaii or California to have their baby and that he or she is a US citizen.
JJ Jetplane
@Laguna
It is possible for him to end it solely with an executive order. The same way he had the opportunity to force the funds to be allocated to the wall. He could use a migrant issue as an issue that is posing an actual threat to the US system. He could have a legal team work to draft up how he could use an executive order without the fear of it being overturned. All he would need is for the supreme court to view the interpretation of the 14th amendment. He could issue it, Congress would overturn it on the basis of being unconstitutional as it goes against the 14th amendment. From there, it would be up to the Supreme Court to decide how the amendment is actually interpreted.
lincolnman
Wow, Donnie really is scared - those Fox News polls showing him losing to all 4 top Dems has him melting down...
So he does what he always does, throw a little red meat to his immigrant-hating, white supremacy base - all those older white folks cowering in their basements with their guns waiting for the "invasion"....
Well, a few of them decide to take their guns out and go down to the local Walmart and "shoot them" like at El Paso...
And if Donnie's father is born in Germany as he has said, isn't he ineligible to be President? This demands an investigation....make him prove he is a US citizen....where's the long form birth certificate?
JJ Jetplane
Don't get me wrong. It would be a losing battle. However, maybe Trump is betting on his majority in the Supreme Court to uphold something like that. The 14th amendment was passed to grant citizenship to slaves. However, slaves were in America legally, what could be challenged is whether the 14th Amendment should apply to those in the country illegally. Even if he can't fully eradicate the 14th amendment, he can get his end result if the Supreme Court decides that those illegally in the country are not covered under the 14th amendment.
The Avenger
The 14th Amendment was enacted within a few years after the Civil War.
It's purpose was to prevent Southern states from disenfranchising their newly emancipated slave population, and using their citizenship status as a means of holding them in a de-facto slave status, much the same way that big farming corporations hold illegal immigrants in low paying, dangerous and dirty jobs to this very day.
We have laws about who can enter our country and become a citizen and just opting in is not a legal option. It should be obvious that no one should be rewarded with citizenship for breaking our laws, birthright citizenship is for citizens and not for criminals.
SimondB
Funny that. In over 10 years living in Japan I never heard that stated a single time. Not once. Perhaps we move in different circles. And their are restrictions on women in late pregnancy boarding aircraft. Maybe they went by sea. Yes, that must be it.
SimondB
Typo: there, not their.

Good initiative, hope no one shows off hey I Have a American passport hereafter..
Sh1mon M4sada
Sounds like another Trump brainf4rt to me. He goes on and on about border controls and legal migration, which entails having a robust 'legal' migration framework.
Then he goes and propose to whiteant it with an unconstitutional executive order.
The issue at hand is to find legal means to accept migrants in order to deter illegals migration (which is hazardous to illegals and financially burdensome to USA). Trump seems like he would rather consolidate his racist credentials and remove a long accepted legal means (ie birthright citizenship).
If he was sincere (rather than racist), he would simply tighten up on travel visa for expectant mothers.
Blacklabel
Liberals say there is no problem to change the 1st and 2nd amendment as “times have changed”. All those old white men who made all this were “racist”.
Predictably a much different response on the 14th amendment.
Blacklabel
What a judge said 13 years ago is irrelevant. Has his position “evolved” like liberal positions always do when they want to get elected? Gay marriage in 2006? Dems weren’t “woke” enough for that.
so what is Judge Ho’s opinion now? He couldn’t have known there would be birth tourism and a non secured border still.
Pukey2
Yeah, I mean, it's not like their dad was American or anything...
Their dad's Scottish-German. Unfortunately I don't think Germany or Scotland want him.
By the way, the man-child's parents-in-law came to the US under a scheme which he wants to get rid off too. And his wife's first visit and the terms of her visa seem quite mysterious and brings up questions of their own. Send 'em all back!
Maria
...allow their citizens to be slaughtered because their citizens can buy weapons over the counter in supermarkets.
What kind of country supports the right to kill, but not the right to live a better life without harming others?
goldorak
Most of you on here are discussing the legal aspect of the matter. What do you Americans really think about 'jus soli' itself? Don't you think it's been abused for a very, very long time (on us soil)?
I think Tump has a point, he just didnt convey it well (not the first time lol).
JJ Jetplane
@JoeinTokyo
It is ambiguous. Because an actual legal argument can be had as to whether that particular right applies to individuals that are here through illegal means. That is something that multiple people have considered prior to Trump. This argument first started during the Clinton administration when Clinton brought into place the "Clinton’s Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act."
JustMyThoughts
Trump, the reality TV star keeping the news junkies is a continuous state of uproar. Yesterday it was buying Greenland, today it's citizenship, tomorrow there will be another click bate headline for all the distributing 'cough, cough' news outlets to feed thier customers ads and create profit.
Sad...
bass4funk
The polls said the same about Hillary as well.
What about the minorities that support him? Are they racists s well? Benedict Arnold’s? Race traitors?
https://spectator.org/why-trumps-approval-ratings-are-up-among-minorities/
Apparently, liberals aren’t paying attention to the Southern border. I would argue apprehending over a thousand illegals a week isn’t a friendly visit or stroll.
...or anarchist in Dayton.
Why is it that liberals take on an astounding losing debate they could never win.
Jimizo
Trump was scathing about Jews who vote Democrat. Socialist, debt-loving Don playing identity politics yet again.

List of countries recognizing jus soli
https://www.businessinsider.com/countries-that-recognize-birthright-citizenship-jus-soli-2018-10
USA, Canada are the big ones. None in the EU without specific conditions and that is just a few countries. None in Asia. The list is mostly western hemisphere and probably for the same reasons, slavery.
I fail to see how anything not about citizenship is on topic.
lincolnman
Losing by 6 points to Kamala Harris - oh my.....
Doesn't even hide it - "But What About" - thanks for agreeing with me...
Meanwhile six white supremacists emboldened by Trump's hate speech were identified and stopped before they could conduct another El Paso - maybe the invasion is by mentally deranged Trump supporters who kill...
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/aug/20/el-paso-shooting-plot-white-supremacist-attacks
See above....
Donnie sure didn't win his birtherism slander - unless you define utter humiliation as a win...
Wolfpack
Can’t be done without a Constitutional amendment.
yakyak
Smart move. End it!!
bass4funk
Hillary it was over 21 points
No, it just means, the polls got it wrong and libs got everything else wrong with trying to get this President, another failed attempt, dust off the corner.
So you have one idiot racist that allegedly invokes Trump and then you have have another idiot allegedly a follower of Warren that hates Trump and is an Anarchist and Anitifa wants to kill anyone that doesn’t prescribe his twisted ideology. All sick twisted people!
No one cared about it, except liberals...odd.
lincolnman
And given Trump's disastrous week, it will no doubt go up to losing to the Top 6 Dems next poll...
Your words, in black and white...
How many more white supremacist Trump supporters will be caught next week before they go on a killing rampage....
Donnie sure cared about it - he still can't let it go. You cared about it - just last week you said you're still a birther... Guess you and Donnie are Liberals....
Dango bong
First of all I am not a Trump supporter.
Secondly, its odd you mention the word "context" since your reply to my post about birth rights was about gun control.... Maybe you do not know what context means?
Sneezy
Haven't you heard? He's The Chosen One.
Utterly embarrassing.
bass4funk
Yeah, like he’s going to prison, Stormy will get him locked up, Cohen’s got the goods, Mueller is going to drop the hammer, Billy Bush sank his candidacy, Hillary will smoke him, Bernie will defeat him, 40 FBI agents will get him, 19 angry Hillary supporting Democrats will bury him and now Kamala Harris will beat him.....yaaaawn...ok.
No, it just means, the polls got it wrong and libs got everything else wrong with trying to get this President, another failed attempt, dust off the corner.
...or Antifa conservative hating Anarchists?
Dems cared more about it, really odd. Podesta, the hero.
Sneezy
So you never have to hide your disgust, then?
Serrano
If the child of two U.S. citizens is born in Japan, that child is not a Japanese citizen. But if the child of two Japanese citizens is born in the U.S. that child is an American citizen. Hmmm....
Sneezy
Almost as if different countries have different laws. I know you wish Trump was an emperor, but you know that the US and Japan are different, right?
Right?
lincolnman
Great rundown of all of Trump's disasters...but this week was even worse....a Fox News poll - that hurt...
Once again, your words....
Haven't seen any of those - but police arrested 6 MAGA hat wearing white supremacists...
What a load - Donnie stuck to it and was humiliated. And some Trumpers still believe it, right?
bass4funk
I doubt that, not the ones I know.
bass4funk
No, they also predicted a Hillary win.
Dust the corner...
Why would liberals pay attention to their own creations?
and the other 7 Antifa Anarchists.
Humiliated? What for? Not Trump’s style. But let’s not forget John Podesta the architect of the movement, he should wear it like a badge of honor.
quercetum
Weak and dumb way of arguing.
bass4funk
I know a lot of people that retain both and use both and never a ruckus is made.
And the ones I know all chose the American ones, especially when they sent their kids to go to school and college to get better opportunities in employment.
When people say that, I tend to think something else....
I wouldn’t say most, many, but not most especially if they’re married to a foreigner.
lincolnman
So you can't trust Fox News?
And?
Maybe because they don't exist...
Huh? Where?
Humiliated - and some still believe it, right?

MAKE IT HAPPEN!
bass4funk
I don’t trust polls overwhelmingly, Fox got it wrong in 2016, I never trusted polls to a heavy degree, I learned that in 1998.
Exactly, nothing else to say.
Burying the head in the sand won’t make the problem of Anarchist, socialists go away.
Oregon..
Not Trump, the man is never apologetic, now if you could prove that...
Hervé L'Eisa
In fact, there are TWO avenues by which he can do this.
https://www.breitbart.com/immigration/2018/11/02/klukowski-how-trump-could-win-on-birthright-citizenship/
lincolnman
So, you can't trust Fox News?
OK, well thanks for agreeing with me...
The Fascist white supremacists seem to be leading in the murder toll, but sure, bury your head in the sand...
And?
As the video showed, he was humiliated like a dog....he should have crawled under the table to hide his shame...
lulldapull
The Trump regime is a disgrace to the civilized world!
bass4funk
I don’t trust “polls”overwhelmingly, Fox got it wrong in 2016, I never trusted polls to a heavy degree, I learned that in 1998.
Dusting the corner again?
But on the overall violence toll the Antifa leads 10 to 1, attacking a gay conservative journalist? Why? What for? Astounding....
Oregon..
And?
I think liberals see what they want, I saw an unapologetic man who admittedly points to the man who started the fiasco. Mr. John Podesta who’s still unrepentant. No wonder they lost.
.
bass4funk
They’ll choose American.
They have the absolute right, but again, most don’t make a ruckus and most don’t care and most just let things stay as they are.
That happens indeed quite often.
I know more than 15 and they chose the American.
That’s quite alright.
You already mentioned that.
Yes, we know this already
That wasn’t the issue.
lincolnman
Well, good for a conservative to admit Fox can't be trusted...
What's astounding is you offer nothing to back your 10-1 claim.....
Obama shamed him like a scolded dog...what humiliation....
DocCarlos
Japan does not allow Birth Right Citizenship, neither does any other country in the world.
It is an outdated law and should be modified for the current times.
Only Legal residents that are approved to immigrate to the USA whom have children should be considered a National Born Citizen.
NO Tourists, No one that is a Foreign resident, Also should apply to H1B visa's and other temporary visitors.
Only Legal residents and Citizens should be allowed Citizenship
And also as long as 1 parent is a Legal resident and/or Citizen.
Laws and regulations need to develop and advance as the times change.
bass4funk
I never said anything about FNC, I just mentioned the polls.
So now YouTube is lying? How you can alter video? Only Copperfield can do that.
Impossible, he didn’t even talk to Podesta
TheLongTermer
absolutely, this is something that should of been a long time ago. Many of you Trump haters are living in Japan, what does Japan say about babies being born, in Japan, to non-Japanese parents? For that matter, Korea, China, Singapore, etc?
The run across the border, have a baby, then get "anchored" to it so you can reap all the benefits is insane and promotes corruption in their mother countries, just as chain immigration does. This should of been illegal decades ago but nobody could stand up and do it.
bass4funk
Yes.
Yes.
She’s 110% for it.
They have it already
bobfor2
totally agree
bass4funk
Never had a problem so far.

@Pukey2
Actually, Germany bannished the grand-father never to come back for dodging the draft, so then he opened a brothel/casino.
The apple did not fall far.
@DocCarlosToday 12:24 pm JST
I think the figure is actually 30 countries, albeit many are just small island nations. It seems to be an American thing, North and South.
Once upon a time it was decided upon because it was in the nation's benefit.
Is "birth tourism" a bit problem in the USA, there's a plague of Nigerians up to it elsewhere. Late term pregnant women deliberately getting on a plane to take them to where they know they will get free maternity healthcare.
There were some outstanding case of Nigerian women giving birth to quintuplets and racking up $100,000s bills that are then never paid.
dabestsushi
Man imagine if Trump work this hard to help American citizens as much as he talks about immigration.
Again Trump doesn't understand how America works and seems to not understand America's laws.
What a mess of a president.
Sh1mon M4sada
@DocCarlos
Many countries in the western sphere follows the citizenship birthrights doctrine, not just USA. In the USA context, denying birthright citizenship is deeply rooted in racism. Google Kim Wong Ark.
This is another of Trump's brainf4rt that he will regret, and when you add the racist attack on the 4 Dems, it's sure to certify Trump as a deep rooted racist.
SuperLib
Trump is just testing the waters for 2020. As I've said before, with no accomplishments, he will make it about immigration and will use racism
1glenn
We have much bigger problems than what he terms birthright citizenship. This man completely denies the existence of global warming, so of course he feels no remorse about making it worse. Birthright citizenship will not have an effect on global warming.
In slightly less than one year and five months, the big orange draft dodger will be replaced in the White House. It is inconceivable that anyone who replaces him could be worse than he.
lincolnman
Like his President, more flipping than Simone Biles...
What Youtube?
I'm surprised he didn't get up and leave - he just sat there and suffered the humiliation....
BeerDeliveryGuy
The people who argue for gun control by saying, “the constitution was written in the days of muskets, not machine guns” should also see the logic in revising the birthright law because “the constitution was written when it took 3 months on a wooden sailboat to come to America, not 9 hours on a jet.”
Amir Marzouk
Outside of third world countries, the US and Canada are the only “developed” nations that use birthright citizenship. So Japan the fact that Japan doesn’t recognize it does not make Japan an outlier. In this case, the US and Canada are considered outliers. In all, there are about 20 countries that recognize birthright Citizenship and all but two are located in either North or South America.
Chip Star
Children with dual Us/Japanese citizenship use either passport to travel. Japan prefers they enter and leave Japan on their Japanese passport, just like the US.
Chip Star
It's also very, very rare for the Japanese government to force the issue of making a choice or just outright cancelling Japanese citizenship (especially without notice).
Strangerland
I recently read that no natural born Japanese has ever had their citizenship removed.
Strangerland
I’m skeptical. People claim lots of things, without something to support it I doubt it happened. It was the government who claimed its never happened.

JJ JetplaneToday 09:25 am JST
The text is not, and as long as the judges stay disciplined and plain-read things whenever they can, there should be no problem. It is only when you un-necessarily allow "intention" into the mix that the problem starts.
gokai_wo_maneku
All things considered, aren't Americans worries about their president?
bass4funk
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
My kids were born in Japan, but obtained USA citizenship in the States
bass4funk
No, we use the US for the mainland and it’s territories.
Not necessarily. I know two American/Japanese celebs and they retain both, never had a problem and they use both depending on the situation.

Hmmmmm....not so sure about that.
bass4funk
who?.
The site that debunks all liberals myths and Pinocchio’s.

I believe birthright citizenship is stipulated in the US. Constitution.

The problem is that these people are doing it to get access to benefits they dont deserve. Why not make their own country great like bake their own cake instead of eating from the efforts of others.
So much pride and heritage, we even have a Hispanic heritage month. Why not have some pride and build up your own country.
