Of course toughest weeks are ahead.

Despite stay at home orders in multiple states, many Americans are ignoring the orders and defiantly crowding parks and other public venues. A paddleboarder at Malibu beach in California was arrested for ignoring stay at home orders. The damage has already been done.

“The fears of the shortages have led to inflated requests,” Trump said.

Is this according to Jared, or someone who actually knows. Trump has repeatedly shown his word is no good, nothing he says can be trusted. The worst possible leader in a crisis like this. Now that his loans to Deutsche Bank are being looked into, I expect him to focus more attention on that. Which could be good for the nation because it keeps him away from messing things up even more.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Good luck to all those fighting the virus in the USA, especially to all those front line workers who are putting their lives at risk. A close friend is amongst them.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Trump put Jared in charge. God help us!!!

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Very tough when you have the Trump medicine show in charge.

Roll up, roll up. I don't need to wear a mask, and by the way, take this cure. You have nothing to lose. Maybe!

From The Guardian

what do you have to lose? I’ll say it again: what do you have to lose? Take it. I really think they should take it. But it’s their choice and it’s their doctor’s choice, or the doctors in the hospital. But hydroxychloroquine. Try it, if you like.”

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Roll up, roll up. I don't need to wear a mask, and by the way, take this cure. You have nothing to lose. Maybe!

Some people can’t wear a mask

Is this according to Jared, or someone who actually knows. Trump has repeatedly shown his word is no good, nothing he says can be trusted.

Seems like a lot of the medical experts get it wrong as well. It’s science, always learning something new.

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Why bother reporting what Trump says? Seriously, he is such a clown.

8 ( +10 / -2 )

From Coronavirus being a hoax to being under control to this will soon be fixed to toughest days ahead, we clearly have a POTUS who is clueless and has no idea what to do.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

*New York is poised to get more than 1,100 ventilators from China and *Oregon.

Another liberal state pulling more than its weight.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Uh-oh...China and Oregon, if that won’t push the US to manufacture these masks, I don’t know what will.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Trump will be responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths. And how will we ever be able to make even tentative steps to reopen without widespread testing and contact tracing? I don't see that ever being possible with this administration. We'll have to wait and hope for a new president in January, and then rebuild from the rubble of what is left.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Trump will be responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths.

The liberal media is desperately trying to do that now, but that’s failing badly.

And how will we ever be able to make even tentative steps to reopen without widespread testing and contact tracing? I don't see that ever being possible with this administration. We'll have to wait and hope for a new president in January, and then rebuild from the rubble of what is left.

Ok, so in January when Trump takes the oath again, you want Trump to keep the country on lockdown still? Probably not, seems like Trump and good on his part will do everything he can to make sure certain industries stay open which is what you really want.

-13 ( +2 / -15 )

There's no guarantee Trump will be a two term president.

As long as his poll numbers don’t dip into the 30’s or 20’s he easily win re-election guaranteed and the Democrats know this, this is why they were pushing Cuomo to run and Schiff and Pelosi talking about investigations again.

-7 ( +2 / -9 )

trump...laughing stock of the world!

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Trump's job approval rating are only 46% approve, 50% disapprove

Yes, it fluctuates between the upper 40’s to the 50’s which for an incumbent is where you really want to be. So the prospects look good, especially with the Dems now talking about another investigation and Joe being very.....lost, it’s pretty much assured, now can things change, of course, if Trump just sits there and does nothing that is always the possibility, but since he didn’t create this virus and China did and since he’s on the ball now and more debated than ever, his chances are better than good.

-5 ( +3 / -8 )

Trump will be responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths

Regardless the number Trump will crow it was lower than the extreme highs predicted because of his genius. Then when the actual number is mentioned say 'I don't take responsibility for that'. Unfit for any office at any level.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

It doesn’t matter what Trump says or the numbers, people aren’t seeing that anymore, the world only cares about one thing and that’s, when will this all stop and when will there be a cure. The msm and Democrats are the only people that worry about Trump.

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Pelosi said Trump is disregarding provisions in the act that would hold the administration accountable. She said a new House committee on the virus response would work to ensure "taxpayer dollars are being used wisely and efficiently to help workers and not to be exploited by profiteers and price-gougers.”

Pelosi should be removed from Congress for impeaching the president over nothing, distracting him as the coronavirus emerged.

https://nypost.com/2020/04/01/impeachment-a-dire-distraction-from-coronavirus-for-trump-devine/

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

Trump will be responsible for 10s of thousands of deaths.

That statement has no basis in reality.

-9 ( +4 / -13 )

That statement has no basis in reality.

Under TrumpCare it is true. Who is going to be for these six (or sometimes seven) figure healthcare costs from CV?

Congress for impeaching the president over nothing, distracting him as the coronavirus emerged.

That's Trump's fault for not handling his impeachment like Clinton did. Look at how well the economy did even tough he was voted for impeachment. Clinton built a firewall so he could do his job without being distracted by the impeachment and Trump failed to do. A lot has to do with his incompetent staffing like Jared (the czar of CV among other things...OMG!!!).

If Trump is re elected in 2020 better stay safe in Japan.

that won’t push the US to manufacture these masks

It's hard to find masks in Japan

Coronavirus being a hoax

(Hannity)

Again, the virus does not care what Trump thinks or tweets. It operates based on science.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

When the death toll hits 250,000, 15% unemployment, Trump supporters will start jumping ship.

Trump's base includes that 35% (approx) of American fundamentalists craving a 'big brother' to protect them from the 'others'. Among them those looking for a political messiah who'll tide them over until their really big one comes. Doubtful they'll jump. The base also includes the 'elite' who since Trump's been in office never had it so good (see tax cuts for the rich, removal of environmental protection, total disregard for climate change, removal of consumer protection provisions, removal of worker protection provisions, etc.). They'll continue to pour money into Trump's campaign, knowing he'll skim lots off for himself. Just like they'd do were they in his shoes.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I'm puzzled. Trump said this would be over by Easter. What happened?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Nothing is easy or guaranteed at the moment.

No, that’s true, but given the incumbency, he probably will.

The electorate delivers its verdict in November, and a sitting (impeached) president with no popular majority, and an approval rating that remained consistently below 50% throughout his first term, has to sell himself to the public. During the worst economic crisis in living memory, and on the back of erratic behaviour and inflammatory rhetoric in the midst of a pandemic.

But this is a different set of circumstances and the majority of people know the President didn’t cause this, this is why his poll numbers didn’t tank and continued to rise as we move along with this crisis.

In his 3 years, unlike any other president, he has never actually risen in the estimation of the American people. And that was before the recession.

Except for the economy where he had the highest approval, now if he didn’t do what he did and created the booming economy he had, he would definitely be underwater, but being that this virus from China continues to destroy the world, Americans know there’s really nothing anyone can do economy wise, except many do support Trump in opening up the country for certain areas of business.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Trump's lack of vision, ignorance, and stubbornness are vividly demonstrated in this COVID pandemic. While the outbreak was first started within Wuhan, Trump had plenty of time to instruct the US industry to produce masks, sanitisers, ventilators, and other essentials for his country and export them the whole world. If he could do that, I have no doubt that the US economy would boom. By contrast, he did nothing but fooled himself and his country fellows by insisting that COVID-19 was merely a kind of flu and thus, there was no need to take on any tough and decisive measures. Consequently, COVID cases go past 300,000 and the curve steadily rise.

Now, the villain Beijing is trying to rewrite the history of this outbreak by donating masks and sanitisers to New York. Why do Trump supporters and GOP politicians risk everything for this moron?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Yes, Trump put Jared in charge of the coronavirus pandemic even though he has no experience in this area. The US guys at the office say that all these people, including Trump, are in real estate, so they will do what they have to in order to save their real estate empires rather than save the American people. Also, Trump thinks that relatives will not write nasty books after he leaves office about how incompetent he is.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Uhhh . . . Not masks, ventilators.

We don’t need masks? That’s new news to me. What was 3M doing again?

Tells us again how sophisticated and successful you are.

Enough to not get involved in this mess. Glad the President is pushing for All American made.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

Yes, it fluctuates between the upper 40’s to the 50’s which for an incumbent is where you really want to be. So the prospects look good

A little early to be reading too much into the numbers. Even Macron, who is a deeply unpopular president, has seen his approval numbers jump by much more than Trump during this emergency. Let’s see how the numbers hold up as the economy, which he took full credit for, takes a huge hit.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

As long as his poll numbers don’t dip into the 30’s or 20’s he easily win re-election guaranteed and the Democrats know this, this is why they were pushing Cuomo to run and Schiff and Pelosi talking about investigations again.

A lot is likely to change after 7 months of death, lockdowns, economic chaos and the consistent lack of a coordinated response from the Federal government. I don’t see how any of it is going to benefit Trump.

Usually in a crisis you see a huge rally around the flag effect that benefits the President, but not with Trump. His approval ratings bumped up by about 4-5 points in late March, plateaued, and are already going back down again, which is a huge contrast to what most other leaders have seen.

Also, the effects of this haven’t hit red states yet but are about too, and hard. Its easy for the “base” to be extremely forgiving of his mis-steps when its just liberals in New York dying, but its going to be way less so when they are the ones experiencing the brunt of this, which will be happening in the next couple of months.

Also, this will disproportionately affect GOP voters since they are on average much older than Dem voters and way more vulnerable.

Plus by November we’ll have a much better idea of how badly theUS has been hit compared to other countries, and right now it looks pretty bad. The per capita infection and death rates in the US are several times higher in the US than in Canada, and also look like they will be much higher than even in European countries being slammed with it now.

I doubt American voters are going to be thrilled to vote for the guy whose constant message thus far has been “Nothing that happens on my watch is my fault!” when the tally of his complete abdication of any sort of leadership becomes apparent.

The guy is an anchor dragging your country to the bottom. Conservative or liberal, you need to replace him.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Trump and people say that China lies about everything, and at the same time, they complain that China didn't alert them earlier. This seems contradictory. If China lies about everything, why believe what they would have to say about an early alert?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

A little early to be reading too much into the numbers. Even Macron, who is a deeply unpopular president,

Sorry, but Macron and the US and France are something entirely different.

There is no way, Biden will be President and the Dems know it, if they were so sure of Biden, they wouldn’t be pestering Cuomo.

Do you really think American care about where the virus came from?

Most definitely.

They only care about where its going and the effect of the president leadership, which to be honest, is looking more like a tug boat than a battleship.

Not really, if they did he would be in the 20’s now he’s nowhere near that, so he’s good, now and if he continues on this path the way he’s doing, he’ll slide into the next term easily, but he plays golf or refuses to help the American people or not worry about NOT opening up the country, yes, it could backfire on him.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Donny’s bump in approval is what is known as rallying around the president/flag in a time of crisis. Carter’s approval shot up during the Iran Hostage Crisis and so did Bush I’s during Desert Shield/Storm. Look how well they did when seeking re-election.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

A little early to be reading too much into the numbers. Even Macron, who is a deeply unpopular president,

Sorry, but Macron and the US and France are something entirely different.

Not entirely different. They have presidents directly elected by the electorate - the leaders of these countries look closely at opinion polls.

In the US, Bush 2 ( a leader you and your still unnamed non-partisan historians regard as successful ) saw his numbers rocket after 9/11 but they sank and he left office with numbers lower than Carter. Bush won re-election in 2004 but the abject failure of the Iraq war wasn’t clear at this point and the economic collapse hadn’t yet happened. The economic fallout from this will be apparent long before November.

As I said, it’s a little early to be reading too much into the numbers.

There is no way, Biden will be president

You dismissed Trump as the leader of a lunatic fringe, backed Ben Carson and said Hillary Clinton would win last time out.

But I evolved to jump on the winning bandwagon. It was the last time I saw my integrity.

Donny is correct that there are tough weeks ahead, and he is doing his best to make them tougher:

The Trump administration issued a new rule this week that lets small businesses choose whether to give workers paid sick leave, undercutting Congress's new law that sought to guarantee it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Most definitely.

The virus doesn't and Jared dwelling on it is making the US sicker. Look at Taiwan and S. Korea. They don't make such excuses. Both the US health and stock market under Trump is trashed.

the President didn’t cause this

Yes, he did. Proof is the failure of TrumpCare. Who is going to pay for the 100s of thousands of medical bills?

Don't worry, Easter's round the corner. From 100,000s to zero, right?

I disagree, a lot of Doctors got this thing wrong and since science is ongoing research then why not try something that CAN possibly work? At this point, it would be stupid not to try as evidence shows, but yes, the loyalty continues and grows.

The Decision Not to Air Trump’s Coronavirus Briefing Is Commendable, and Overdue — Opinion

After days of internal newsroom pressure and external criticisms, CNN and MSNBC cut away from President Donald Trump’s coronavirus briefing on Wednesday when he used it as an opportunity to begin discussing his southern border wall.

As far as the handling of the COVID-19 he’s almost at 50%.

The evidence of Donny going crazy is all over TV and twitter. Just look, like you do when claiming Biden has failing mental health. Oh, maybe that standard is only for you. ROFL!

Almost at 50% even with the bump all presidents get in times of crisis. Nothing to be bragging about at all.

While his disapproval rating is over 50%. Tell the whole story, next time!

4 ( +5 / -1 )

And here it is - denial, dysfunction, false statements, and failure....

The Trump administration received its first formal notification of the outbreak of the coronavirus in China on Jan. 3. Within days, U.S. spy agencies were signaling the seriousness of the threat to Trump by including a warning about the coronavirus — the first of many — in the President’s Daily Brief. And yet, it took 70 days from that initial notification for Trump to treat the coronavirus not as a distant threat or harmless flu strain well under control, but as a lethal force that had outflanked America’s defenses and was poised to kill tens of thousands of citizens. That more-than-two-month stretch now stands as critical time that was squandered.

Trump’s baseless assertions in those weeks, including his claim that it would all just “miraculously” go away, sowed significant public confusion and contradicted the urgent messages of public health experts.

The most consequential failure involved a breakdown in efforts to develop a diagnostic test that could be mass produced and distributed across the United States, enabling agencies to map early outbreaks of the disease.

Other failures cascaded through the system. The administration often seemed weeks behind the curve in reacting to the viral spread, closing doors that were already contaminated. Protracted arguments between the White House and public health agencies over funding, combined with a meager existing stockpile of emergency supplies, left vast stretches of the country’s health-care system without protective gear until the outbreak had become a pandemic. Infighting, turf wars and abrupt leadership changes hobbled the work of the coronavirus task force.

Going into a second term, every incumbent should brag about it.

While his disapproval rating is over 50%. Tell the whole story, next time!

But the most important thing you want as an incumbent is over 40% and Trump is sailing at the moment.

The only buck that stops with Trump is in his back pocket or under his bed. The Covid-19 debacle is now providing the Dems an even stronger case with which to impeach him a second time after the American people have cleaned up the mess he has created by his criminal fecklessness .

Oh, dear God....look, if the Dems are that stupid to try that stunt again, they dig a deeper spiraling hole that they’ll never politically get out of which would tickle me, but I wouldn’t put it past them in their final hour of desperation to attempt another failed and feeble stunt like the last two.

On Jan 31, Trump issue travel restrictions and appoints a Corona Tsar.
