"Part of the North Korea problem is caused by the trade disputes with China," Trump said.

Yeah, no. That's not a part of the problem.

He also noted his "fantastic relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, whom he met in Singapore in June.

His relationship is only "fantastic" because Trump folds like a cheap suit at the slightest bit of flattery from Kim without getting anything tangible in return.

"China makes it much more difficult in terms of our relationship with North Korea,"

Trump's clearly in over his head. He needs to call one of his fixers, perhaps Cohen, Manafort, or Flynn.

Or else he could use his pals in the media like the publisher of National Enquirer, maybe Fox & Friends, RT, Breitbart, or any of the other alt right outlets that support him and get them to say it's all Hillary's fault, use his typical other-guy-did-it defense. No doubt his base would believe him.

China is certainly making it more difficult. They have been for years. But so it that "fantastic" relationship. China and the third fatty have been playing off the west for what, 4 US presidents. Now we're getting nowhere, again.

Trump fans have been telling me we have leverage and hold all the cards and we are a few strokes of the pen away from crippling sanctions that will force North Korea's hand.

We are just hanging out and waiting, or something like that.

Leaning on China to deal with North Korea, whilst simultaneously ratcheting slapping them with tariffs was some real 3d chess. Brilliant move, Trump.

It seems that Trump was played by Kim. Maybe all North Korea wanted was a photo op showing that the US president would go to Asia to meet Kim. This makes Kim look really important.

NK has demanded a direct US-NK summit for decades. Trump gave it to them and got zero in return. Good job.

But I thought things would be easy for Trump.

Certainly not "Merika's" fault. Nope. They're promise of a 100% nuke free NK would have been realized for now if not for the Trump/China trade -- errr... if not for China stepping in to mess things up.

Look at all the liberties China is taking with the US. China knows that Trump and his cabinet are know-nothings. China will soon be leaving the US behind.

Actually its Japan that makes things so difficult with all the secret negotiating behind the backs of other countries. Japan just doesn't know how to take a side, so they either screw things up for other countries or play country to country to win while stabbing you in the back.

So that’s why negotiations are still ongoing. If the NK want to play hardball, then go ahead, it wouldn’t hurt or even break us a sweat to tighten up and impose more sanctions onto the NK. They need the money, the food, the stability what little they have, we don’t.

Oh you mean Japan isn't insignificant and marginalized?
