Everyone knows that as with Obama and many other politicians, Trump speaks in parables as well as directly in descriptive words in language from the very elite to the extremely common and lowly as he he finds fit to suite the situation and circumstance, not necessarily politically or socially amicable but avoiding what is considered a "swear" word. But he does try to get the "intent" and the "idea" across as best as he can with words that most can and do understand. Not to justify all that he says, but to describe what he is saying, this is another case where he illustrates the "closeness" of the relationship that he thinks he has established with Kim in light of what the entire world perceive as "antagonistic" and "shallow".

As a leader, one must be able to turn the negative into positive not just for himself but for the country, the society he represents. It is obvious here that he is trying to keep things positive.

Any relationship between Trump and Kim at this point and into the future must be kept positive for any meaningful resulting action from either side. To have bilateral communication, or dialog, is critical in avoiding actions that are detrimental to either parties involved.

Trump has not commented on current actions by Kim as being a negative or a cause for some drastic action other than to maintain the current embargo which is still unenforced due to Chin and Russia along with many other nations disregarding the action. The point is, it appears he has information that he does not have to take any more publicly exposed drastic action which may become an unnecessary hurdle in the future. He find a need to keep Kim coming to him for a meaningful dialog as if "lovers" with a common interest.

I think in his own strange way, maybe Trump is trying to really scare Kim.

If China is agitated so what, the US is getting agitated as well.

I'm afraid your reasoning is flawed for two reasons. 1) You discount the power of nationalism in China - its the foundation of the Communist Party and it manipulates it to keep the masses from revolting and throwing them out of power. China can't "lose" - up the economic pressure and the govt will play the nationalism card - remember a few year ago when Japanese Dept Stores were being set on fire in China? 2) China can turn the dial on support to nKorea as it suits their interests - China gets what it wants from the US, and it tells nKorea to get in line. The US antagonizes China and things get more difficult.
