“It did happen. I saw it,” said Trump. “It was on television. I saw it.”

I bet he saw also UFO.

The most ridiculous brouhaha ever. Even CNN has video proof of Muslims dancing & celebrating after hearing about 9/11 (CNN news) ACTUAL NEWS FOOTAGE

-8 ( +11 / -19 )

Clearly, what is important is not whether Islamic Americans cheered the terrorist attacks but rather whether his base prefers to be agitated about that possibility. Truth in the Donald zone is fungible.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

“Clearly, Trump has memory issues or willfully distorts the truth, either of which should be concerning for the Republican Party.”

Well said.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he saw people cheering the Sept. 11 attacks across the river in New Jersey — a claim officials strongly deny.

Yup, and Carson stabbed "Bob" and hit his mother with a hammer. Good gosh, it is really sad that this is the best the Republicans can do for candidates, especially when the Democrats are so beatable.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

OK, so a pox on both your houses. It was more like a couple dozen in Jersey City and a few more than that in Patterson.....The bigger picture is that that we’re faced with a very serious problem, and all these people calling for ‘sympathy’ ‘understanding’ etc can go pound sand. For the most part governments around the world have a responsibility to protect their respective nations, and they ARE failing to do so!

-12 ( +3 / -15 )

Carsons comments were from one of his books years ago. The mainstream media was digging for dirt to discredit any and all republican candidates and latched onto that. His defense was a bit odd but hey, it's not a proven lie like the MSM was hopeing to prove.

Trumps comment is easily proven either way. Either archived footage exists or not. The truth is an ovewhelming number of imported Islamists would like to enact sharia law in USA. My response to that is go back to a practicing sharia law nation, not mine!

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

Sad commentary on the US these days that he's still got followers, but I know every culture has a bell shaped curve in regard to political beliefs. I just hope the Trumperys are at one end of the curve, and not the hump.

@Lizz For the most part governments around the world have a responsibility to protect their respective nations, and they ARE failing to do so!

Please explain how the US government is FAILING to protect its citizens.

@MarkG The truth is an ovewhelming number of imported Islamists would like to enact sharia law in USA.

Could you provide some support for this 'overwhelming number'? And could you also please explain how they were 'imported'?

Last I heard, TeaRump was worth billions. Surely he could afford to get some investigators on the case and conjure up that footage. Who needs faith when you purchase all the investigative power available?

The guy is 69 years old and you know, some people start suffering age related mental illness sooner than others. With the nuttiness coming out of his mouth lately, I have no doubt there are going to be many more loony statements coming out of his mouth in the coming months. To those who have been supporting him, please: When you finally wake and realize what a fool he is, you will simultaneously realize what a fool you are, and if have one shred of decency, you will take that to heart, and vow to never vote for politicians again. People like you are ruining America.

Yup, and Carson stabbed "Bob" and hit his mother with a hammer. Good gosh, it is really sad that this is the best the Republicans can do for candidates, especially when the Democrats are so beatable.

How about Bernie "give you FREE STUFF" Sanders when he said, one reason for the rise in radical Islam and Jihad is due to climate change or remember when Hillary said that she was sniper fire in Bosnia? And let's not forget the emails she wrote, er....didn't although there was a copy....but it was the video, even though it had nothing to do with the emails.... The libs are the absolute LAST people to say anything about anyone making gaffes, fantasizing or seeing things.

The most ridiculous brouhaha ever. Even CNN has video proof of Muslims dancing & celebrating after hearing about 9/11 (CNN news) ACTUAL NEWS FOOTAGE

Very true.

Please explain how the US government is FAILING to protect its citizens.

Well, for one thing, Obama NOT willing to listen to the majority of the people and the governors that are representing these constituents that oppose the president wanting to dump these people without knowing who these people are or if they are the people they claim to be.

Could you provide some support for this 'overwhelming number'? And could you also please explain how they were 'imported'?

He was talking about the radical Islamists and by the way, where is your proof that the radicals DON'T want to impose Sharia!

The guy is 69 years old and you know, some people start suffering age related mental illness sooner than others. With the nuttiness coming out of his mouth lately,

Hillary is 68, what's her excuse?

I have no doubt there are going to be many more loony statements coming out of his mouth in the coming months.

Like Hillary and Sanders? He's older as well.

To those who have been supporting him, please: When you finally wake and realize what a fool he is, you will simultaneously realize what a fool you are,

Now you know why even a lot of liberals are waking up when they take a second look at Hillary.

and if have one shred of decency, you will take that to heart, and vow to never vote for politicians again. People like you are ruining America.

Hmmmm......7 years on, don't think it can sink lower. But Barack still has one year to go with wrecking ball in hand.

I truly believe he would rather believe and perpetuate a lie than admit he is wrong. This is not a man to head a country---at least not our country.

In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners' plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.

I am now convinced that Trump is clinically insane. Were he not rich he might be mowing down innocent people with an asault rifle. Sine he is rich he can psychoticly run for president and be a front runner.

I truly believe he would rather believe and perpetuate a lie than admit he is wrong. This is not a man to head a country---at least not our country.

God knows that is the truth! But then who can we trust to lead the country. We already have one guy in the White House that would NEVER admit to ANY wrongdoing or even lying and the same goes for Hillary, so who is left

He's probably talking about this report: https://www.centerforsecuritypolicy.org/2015/06/23/nationwide-poll-of-us-muslims-shows-thousands-support-shariah-jihad/

It's a muddled survey they took asking what amounts to the West's interpretation of shariah and jihad and then took answers from Muslims using their interpretations of shariah and jihad.

For example, they ask a lot of questions about violent jihad when over 50% of the respondents interpret jihad to mean, "peaceful, personal struggle to be more religions". Only 16% of them considered jihad to mean, "violent holy war against unbelivers of Islam". In the end the survey makes no sense unless you understand things like a "violent peaceful struggle."

What's also weird is that about 76% of them identified as White, Black, or Asian. Only 16% are Middle Easterners. No clue how they pulled that one off. The Right will naturally report this as "Muslims (in a survey with mostly non-Middle Easterners) support (our misguided interpretation of) radical Islam." Cha-ching!

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Thousands, maybe not, however there were some. The only known people celebrating were the not-very-well-known (but clearly documented) "five dancing Israelis" who were filming the 9/11 WTC event from over the river in Jersey City from a rooftop. They were eventually arrested due to their suspicious behavior (yes, someone called the cops because they saw them cheering and giving high-fives and speaking what was thought to be Arabic) and it was determined that they were probably spies (they had multiple passports, lots of high-end photo equipment in their work van, and they "worked" for a most-likely fake moving company. The Israeli owner of the company fled the US as soon as flights resumed a couple days later). This is not conspiracy BS, it is well documented. They were released after a couple months and eventually were on an Israeli talk-show later, where they stated they had nothing to do with it, and were only there to "film the event." (Exactly how they knew what to be filming was never publicly asked).

Vote me down if you don't believe me, or research it yourself: http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=123885&page=1

1 ( +4 / -3 )

@Lizz allegedly seen celebrating

The article you sent was from 2001. It reported events that showed the fears people had after the worst action that had ever happened on US soil (not counting the Civil War). At the time people, understandably, were fearful, on the lookout for further problems and for people they suspected to cause more problems. Remember, people who looked like they were from the ME were attacked, including Sikhs wearing turbans. Some US Americans went looking for people to attack.

You wrote they were 'allegedly seen', and I assume you know what that means. Do you have proof?

Innocent people are too often attacked after scare-mongerers repeatedly blast hateful messages and wind up the hard of thinking and other reactionaries. In the US, how many hate crimes have been committed by Muslims in the last 15 years? Ever? I think US Americans need to stay vigilant and trust those paid to protect them. But many Trump supporters express their hatred of their government and don't trust the police and military to do their job. They're the ones who scare me the most. Stay vigilant, don't become a vigilante.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Please explain how the US government is FAILING to protect its citizens.

By NOT listening to the majority of the public.

http://www.peoplespunditdaily.com/polls/2015/09/22/poll-americans-dont-want-syrian-refugees-in-us-let-alone-100k/

That in itself is NOT keeping Americans safe.

I understand. You meant to say 'he MIGHT be failing' or if 'something bad happens...". That's your opinion, of course. I understand people are afraid, but don't you think scaremongering makes things worse?

It's not scaremongering, it's just being carefully cautious.

Here's an article from a business magazine you might be interested in.

So what's wrong with being drafted? If that's what it takes to fight this growing threat of ISIS, then so be it. If the radicals want to join to fight the Jihad, then every western should do the same to fight for their liberty, their country and against the indoctrination of Sharia.

We really can't say for sure since in Islam Al-taqiyya (deception or lying) is indeed acceptable, so if you want to BLINDLY believe that, that is fine, but I'll believe someone with more experience. I could care less how emotional Obama gets with his sympathetic touchy, feely self. I'll get with the military experts that know how to deal with this kind of situation.

What's also weird is that about 76% of them identified as White, Black, or Asian. Only 16% are Middle Easterners.

Gee, that's comforting to know.

No clue how they pulled that one off. The Right will naturally report this as "Muslims (in a survey with mostly non-Middle Easterners) support (our misguided interpretation of) radical Islam." Cha-ching!

You do know the largest majority of Christians are NOT White, right?

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

I keep flip-flopping on the question of who would be worse to have as president, Trump or Carson. After this last remark, I am leaning a bit more toward Trump as the more disastrous of the two.

Now there would be a good JT poll of the day: "Who would you least like to see as the next U.S. president?"

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Carson will produce a really creepy type of meltdown at some point, and I'd rather not see that.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@SuperLib

He's probably talking about this report: https://

Thanks. I looked up info on the group that conducted this survey and found this:

The Center for Security Policy (CSP) is a national security think tank based in Washington, DC that has been widely accused of engaging in conspiracy theorizing by a range of individuals, media outlets and organizations. Its activities are focused on what it claims is a secret, global campaign to destroy western civilization.

Earlier one of the JT posters sent anti-Obama info from a site called impeachobama.org. On the Internet there are any number of kook sites that kooks can go to to find info that says anything they want to believe. It's scary to me that so many US Americans are afraid of so many things, including their government and police, and will actually believe the hate spewers and scare-mongerers. No wonder there's so much gun violence there.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it

The current GOP campaign's defense of choice. Make up a bunch of crap, propose outlandish policies, and then blame 'political correctness' or the 'liberal media' for the blowback.

2 ( +6 / -4 )

In New Jersey? If they have it, it should be fairly easy to produce. Yet no where has shown any video whatsoever to support Trump's claims. I certainly don't remember seeing that, and I was rooted to the TV for a few days, like most of the rest of the world. That's not to say it didn't happen or didn't exist, but with the unsubstantiated rhetoric Trumps been spewing out his mouth as verbal diarrhea over the past couple of months, I'm pretty skeptical. I definitely want to see something to support it before I'll even give him the benefit of the doubt.

So when liberals go on Think Progress and Daily Kos or Mother Jones, those are NOT kooky sites???

It's scary to me that so many US Americans are afraid of so many things,

Like: Open borders, Jihadists, government overreach, debt, liberals being overreactive when it comes to being PC? Liberalism run amok! Country falling into bankruptcy, faltering education system. Yeah, there are a lot of things Americans are afraid of.

including their government and police, and will actually believe the hate spewers and scare-mongerers. No wonder there's so much gun violence there.

Europeans don't have any room to talk.

The current GOP campaign's defense of choice. Make up a bunch of crap, propose outlandish policies, and then blame 'political correctness' or the 'liberal media' for the blowback.

Hmmm...as I recall, it was the liberals that invented, nurtured and perfected the art of "political correctness." Not to mention, whacked policies that will get us all in trouble. Let's just say, the Iran deal wasn't the supreme gift of the year.

So, you're saying both look at 'kooky' sites? It just surprises me that you don't quote The Washington Post more. I saw your colleague, Bob Woodward, schooling Sean Hannity about journalism on Fox News when Hannity was crying about the media not savaging Obama for everything he says or does.

There's rubbish coming from both sides and you of all people shouldn't be taking partisan, sub-tabloid nonsense seriously. The same goes for Trump and his divisive rabble-rousing.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Hillary is 68, what's her excuse?

Excuse for what exactly?

If you have a problem with her politics and decisions, I might agree or disagree, but either way, there is a potential for respect for your opinion.

But if you have evidence of anything as loony coming out of Clinton's mouth, I would like to hear it.

And another thing, I said age related mental disease hits SOME people sooner than others. I did not say all, did I? I have not seen any evidence that Clinton is off her rocker yet. I don't agree with her on everything, but I don't see that she is just plain losing her mind.

I don´t know what Trump saw in New Jersey, but the deniers better check their reality. Friends of mine saw this even in Roppongi where a crowd of Iranians erupted in cheers when the TV footage started in the pub.

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

I don´t know what Trump saw in New Jersey, but the deniers better check their reality.

Whose denying there were people cheering in various places around the world? The question is whether Trump actually saw anyone cheering in New Jersey as he claims. I'm skeptical.

Trump: And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering,”

No Trump, that's not correct.

Ted Cruz: "James Clapper said, 'among those [Syrian] refugees are no doubt a significant number of ISIS terrorists.”

No Ted, that's not correct.

Carly Fiorina: "The vast majority of these refugees are young, able-bodied men looking for work"

No Carly, that's not correct.

Marco Rubio: “The vast majority of refugees that are trying to come here are people that we will not be able to vet.”

No Marco, that's not correct.

Sean Hannity: "This president's gonna take in 200,000 to 250,000 Syrian refugees, Iraqi refugees,"

No Sean, that's not correct.

MarkG: The truth is an ovewhelming number of imported Islamists would like to enact sharia law in USA

No Mark, that's not correct.

bass: I could care less

No bass, that's not correct.

....but I'm sure everyone who answered an opinion poll got their information somewhere else.

To assume that all Americans wave the flag and eat apple pie is very far from reality! Why wouldn't some ethnicities in the states not be pleased with an attack on the WTC? It is reasonable to assume they would. I personally have knowledge of a group in Japan that just did that at the felling of the twin towers here in Japan.......

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

So, you're saying both look at 'kooky' sites?

The main difference, libs really live in and enjoy the Internet and take everything that's written on there as accurate material.information.

It just surprises me that you don't quote The Washington Post more.

Depends on what it is. Problem is, there is just too much liberal crap out there to talk about. Without you libs, I'd be out of a job, that's for sure.

I saw your colleague, Bob Woodward, schooling Sean Hannity about journalism on Fox News when Hannity was crying about the media not savaging Obama for everything he says or does.

Woodward....ROFL

There's rubbish coming from both sides and you of all people shouldn't be taking partisan, sub-tabloid nonsense seriously. The same goes for Trump and his divisive rabble-rousing.

This is very true, but the trash that's coming from the left just leaves your jaw hangining and your head rolling from the hypocrisy that is spewed forth from it.

If you have a problem with her politics and decisions, I might agree or disagree, but either way, there is a potential for respect for your opinion.

But if you have evidence of anything as loony coming out of Clinton's mouth, I would like to hear it.

That would be a long list.

And another thing, I said age related mental disease hits SOME people sooner than others. I did not say all, did I?

You did not, but I feel the same when I hear MANY liberals say the darnedest things.

I have not seen any evidence that Clinton is off her rocker yet.

Then maybe you don't want to see it, but then again, it depends on what you think is outrageous. Trump wouldn't be where he's at, if people thought the way you do.

I don't agree with her on everything, but I don't see that she is just plain losing her mind.

How about saying, you don't like what Trump said or how he articulates himself, then I would say, you have a legitimate argument, but if you say, he's losing his mind, he wouldn't be where he's at today, if he were a nut. But I give Trump credit, he knows how to play the media and they just can't nail him, try as they might. Because anyone else would say the things he says, they would be done.

-10 ( +3 / -13 )

Again, that's not the issue - it's whether people in New Jersey were shown cheering or not. It calls into question Trump's credibility. If it this was not actually shown on TV at the time, then it would mean he's making stuff up, or is going a little senile, neither which makes for a good quality in a president.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Why would anybody be cheering the towers coming down when nobody knew at that point who was behind it? Trump is a $hi#-stirrer, and bringing up this sort of thing bodes ill for the future. It's not constructive. It's childish and confrontational. America has a Muslim population who are citizens with a right to live there. To start alienating them on an election campaign is inviting division.

I can't believe anybody would be dumb enough to vote for him. His intellectual calibre is low and he is inarticulate. I don't know how he got anywhere near the hustings.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How about saying, you don't like what Trump said or how he articulates himself, then I would say, you have a legitimate argument, but if you say, he's losing his mind, he wouldn't be where he's at today, if he were a nut.

Again, our journalist has a very unique way with words. What he says, though, is opposed to my argument above: it is precisely because he is a nut that a certain portion of the GOP find him irresistible. This is driving the GOP adults crazy - they want him silenced, gone, and soon, but too late: the holiday season is upon us, and the next time your average American will pay attention to politics will be after New Years, a month before Iowa. Can anyone say "brokered convention"?

I'd love to see Trump nominated, truly. If anything else, it would be justice for the formerly-relevant Republican Party.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

"I saw it,” said Trump. “It was on television. I saw it.”

As seen on TV!

I thought as a Washington Post journalist you'd be the first to point out the dangers of this nonsense. By the way, why "Woodward....ROFL"? I know his prose style isn't a match for yours but I thought he was pretty respected.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Bass4funk: Without you libs, I'd be out of a job, that's for sure.

(Are you saying that someone is actually paying you to have the JT record for MOST down voted comments of any poster?)

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Mr. Trump again brings out a controversial but definitely "relative" and "pertinent" perspective on the terrorists, especially the possible terrorists within the USA and possibly in every other country in the world. France and Belgium along with many others have felt the extremely well organized, well coordinated, well funded network of terrorists. Or are they?

If this was viewed only as a terrorist attack, then one doe not expect any to be dancing except the terrorists.

However, it has become rather obvious that this is a RELIGIOUS and RACIAL war that has deep and widespread support and coordination worldwide.

With that new perspective, and with the terrorists themselves declaring that it is religious war and that the attacks will come to America from within, it will be of no surprise to know that there are people within the USA that have and are supporting the "religious" and "racial" war.

Sadly the Democrats and the President himself also fan the flames and do nothing about it. In fact they are by their lack of support and action, but by in action and rhetoric "helping" the massive religious and racial prejudice takeover of the US population, dividing the country, making it weaker? WHY?

Which makes one wander... who are they?

Who is going to bring Washington down?

It has to be someone WITHIN and with much power and authority.

Everything from arming the IRS to NSA buying up ammunition are starting to show a grave picture.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Again, that's not the issue - it's whether people in New Jersey were shown cheering or not. It calls into question Trump's credibility.

If you want to hold him accountable, then do so. Then you need to also hold Hillary equally to the same standard of what she said about her emails and before any of you liberals try to spin it, the woman made wrote an email to her daughter an attack by jihadists, but still claims it was a video when everyone knows it's just a bunch of BS. So why can we not check her credibility as well? That's what a true Non-partisan would do.

If it this was not actually shown on TV at the time, then it would mean he's making stuff up, or is going a little senile, neither which makes for a good quality in a president.

Then Hillary's name should also be withdrawn from the candidacy.

Do libs post links to impeachobama.org?

No, but a dozen other.

As you said, there are crackpot sites on both sides and only the partisans and/or the idiots take them seriously. I've seen nutjob sites claiming Obama is a Muslim and Bush orchestrated 9/11.

True.

I thought as a Washington Post journalist you'd be the first to point out the dangers of this nonsense.

I do. But there's just more of a smorgasbord of liberal nonesense out there.

I know his prose style isn't a match for yours but I thought he was pretty respected.

Probably better to put the humor and sarcasm aside, libs are just horrible at it.

(Are you saying that someone is actually paying you to have the JT record for MOST down voted comments of any poster?)

I wish they would. And thanks for the complement, I try my best NOT to tow the liberal line.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

If you want to hold him accountable, then do so. Then you need to also hold Hillary equally to the same standard of what she said about her emails

What does Hillary have to do with Trump saying he saw Muslim's in New Jersey celebrating? Would her emails somehow excuse him or something? I'm failing to see the relevance of your comment.

If it this was not actually shown on TV at the time, then it would mean he's making stuff up, or is going a little senile, neither which makes for a good quality in a president.

Then Hillary's name should also be withdrawn from the candidacy.

How would Trump either lying, or being senile, discount Hillary from the candidacy?

You do realize Trump and Hillary are not in the same party, right? I don't get how you seem to think that Trumps actions would have any bearing on her one way or the other.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What does Hillary have to do with Trump saying he saw Muslim's in New Jersey celebrating?

Funny, you libs want to hold Trump accountable for what he said as he should, but you want to give Hillary as (a pass) usual and this is the thing that drives me nuts with the left, how about overlooking your candidates and focusing ONLY on the conservative ones.

Would her emails somehow excuse him or something?

No, but it would be nice if we would equally hold her to the same standard as we are holding Trump.

I'm failing to see the relevance of your comment

Just trying to keep the liberal hypocrisy on the straight.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Funny, you libs want to hold Trump accountable for what he said as he should, but you want to give Hillary as (a pass) usual

I haven't said anything about Hillary whatsoever, much less giving her a pass for anything. She has zero relevance to this conversation, so I'm having troubles seeing how you are connecting anything she may or may not have done with Trumps accountability on whether or not he is lying or mistaken about what he says he saw. How would Hillary having done anything make him more or less culpable on the matter?

No, but it would be nice if we would equally hold her to the same standard as we are holding Trump.

As we should, but that would be a different conversation to this one, and Trump would have as much relevance to that conversation as Hillary has to this one.

Just trying to keep the liberal hypocrisy on the straight.

What hypocrisy? None of us has said anything whatsoever about Hillary in this thread, other than you.

So please again, what does Hillary have to do with this conversation?

Mr. Trump says he saw Muslims celebrating in the U.S. After 9/11 and democrats have a meltdown. But they are OK with Mrs. Bill Clinton saying she survived sniper fire in Bosnia.

Oh, the hypricsy. . . .

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Regardless of political or any other correctness... or righteousness... LET TRUMP SPEAK his thoughts.

Regardless of he being right or wrong, good or bad... the thoughts and ideas he brings out into the open for argument are "exactly" what the entire world NEEDS to hear and consider.

I applaud his audacity...

He stands now on a world stage as a candidate for the most powerful position in the world, and his words unlike Mr. Obama is definitely "awakening" the world.

The world NEEDS to HEAR, regardless of the controversy, exactly where they stand in the eyes of a possible world leader.

Much better than most world leaders that hide behind their lies.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

"I saw a lot of happy gas station owners in Queens weeks after the attack with photos of the burning buildings and picture of OBL hanging on their walls. . . . ."

Really? If that's true, there must be a hell of a lot of cowards in Queens. You nor anybody else had the guts to tell them to take them down? Sounds very suspicious to me.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

But they are OK with Mrs. Bill Clinton saying she survived sniper fire in Bosnia.

Where has anyone said in this thread that they are ok with Hillary saying or not saying anything? And what does Hillary have to do with this conversation? If she was lying, would that somehow excuse Trump if he lied?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I haven't said anything about Hillary whatsoever, much less giving her a pass for anything. She has zero relevance to this conversation, so I'm having troubles seeing how you are connecting anything she may or may not have done with Trumps accountability on whether or not he is lying or mistaken about what he says he saw. How would Hillary having done anything make him more or less culpable on the matter.

Like I said, it was just for references. So there's no need to get upset, we're just talking, comparing and keeping score of Trump and other people that have a credibility problem. That's all I was trying to say.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Like I said, it was just for references.

A reference for what? How does anything Hillary has done or not done affect Trump's culpability or lack thereof on this issue? I fail to see how she acts as a reference on that matter whatsoever.

we're just talking, comparing and keeping score of Trump and other people that have a credibility problem.

No, that's not what we're talking about, did you not read the article? After all, it's the basis of the conversation. The conversation in question is about Trump claiming he say thousands of people in New Jersey celebrating after 9-11. The conversation isn't about other people, nor a comparison of people's credibility issues. I'm surprised as a journalist that you aren't able to follow the track of the conversation, particularly such a respected journalist that has worked for NBC and The Washington Post, and has been a CEO on top of that. I would think someone with such respectable credentials would be better at following the track of the conversation.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Donald Trump says he saw people cheering the Sept. 11 attacks across the river in New Jersey

Aha!

A conspiracy theory!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No, that's not what we're talking about, did you not read the article?

I sure did.

After all, it's the basis of the conversation. The conversation in question is about Trump claiming he say thousands of people in New Jersey celebrating after 9-11.

So why not make a quick comparison about how similar the lies are between Trump and Clinton.

The conversation isn't about other people, nor a comparison of people's credibility issues.

Why not? Who says we can or can't.

I'm surprised as a journalist that you aren't able to follow the track of the conversation, particularly such a respected journalist that has worked for NBC and The Washington Post, and has been a CEO on top of that.

Seriously??? Sigh...and once again, we have nothing to fall back on, but personal ad hominem attacks. Keep trying, keep trying...

I would think someone with such respectable credentials would be better at following the track of the conversation.

How about you libs expand on the conversation not getting off topic, just showing how both sides make gaffes intentional or not. Shouldn't be a problem to mention it. Because when there's a thread that talks about Hillary, you libs still don't want to talk about it or you guys just want to blow it off.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

"Trump and Clinton" What are Clinton's lies, exactly? You want Trump for president now?

"you libs" The Republicans invented ObamaCare. Reagan inked 3M greencard amnesty. Record number of deportations under Obama.

As a previous CEO yourself who once interviewed Steve Jobs you should know that CEOs make poor presidents.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

What, really? Did he say that?

He sure did.

I always imagined that such successful people would have rather better things to do with themselves.

You would think so, but he is proving us wrong.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Trump says he saw people celebrating 9/11 in Jersey City

Okay this is nonsense. Why is he bringing this up now? It's bad enough he wants to create a muslim database.

For now, he should be focusing (along with other candidates) on how to stop the refugees from entering the US. The ones obama / kerry are letting in. This is nonsense too.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

From another post but here is a quote for the process for letting refugees in:

You apply through the United Nations High Commission of Refugees, which collects documents and performs interviews. Less than one percent of refugees worldwide end up being recommended for resettlement If you’re one of them, you may then be referred to the State Department to begin the vetting process At this point, more information is collected, and you’ll be put through security screenings by the National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI, and the Department of Homeland Security If you’re a Syrian refugee, you’ll get an additional layer of screening called the Syria Enhanced Review, which may include a further check by a special part of Homeland Security—the USCIS [United States Citizenship and Immigration Services] fraud detection and national security directorate. Then, you finally get an interview with USCIS officers and you’ll also be fingerprinted so your prints can be run through the biometric databases of the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Defense. If you make it through all that, you’ll also have health screenings which, If everything comes back clear, you’ll be enrolled in cultural orientation classes—all while your information continues to be checked recurrently against terrorist databases to make sure that no new information comes in that wasn’t caught before.” This process typically takes 18 to 24 months once you’ve been referred to the U.N. by the United States. This is the most rigorous vetting anyone has to face before entering this country.

Anyone should read this before saying "Obama wants to simply let people in"

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Anyone should read this before saying "Obama wants to simply let people in"

Wow. All that huh. And at the expense to who? Them refugees or Mr. / Mrs. US Taxpayer.

If everything comes back clear, you’ll be enrolled in cultural orientation classes

Ahhh . ..where hopefully they will loosen their stone-age religious beliefs and strict islamic regiment (often clashing with western values / society). And perhaps acquire a taste for a nice american style "Pulled Pork" Sandwich with a beer on the side.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

Taxes? Not your choice. But it will still be cheaper than Bush Jr's solution that is costing taxpayers trillions- which was also not your choice. This solution is better and cheaper. And these refugees (who are generally highly educated) will be working and paying taxes. Their kids will more than likely be winners too. They and their future generations will pay back the system many times over. What are you worried about?

The point of this process is not to please you. It's to keep America safe while accepting its fair share of refugees.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

It's obvious if Trump was elected the world would become more stable. For one, he'd definitely get along with Putin much better than that lame duck Obama does! And he wouldn't allow problems to escalate and grow into global threats such as isis has! Trump would have stamped them out long ago!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

What is that big TRUMPet blowing now...?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

What Trump saw on TV were celebrations in the Palestine section of Jerusalem City on CNN. I guess his brain has decomposed to the point he can't realize that just because the TV he was watching was in New Jersey didn't mean what he was watching had to be happening IN New Jersey. His relatives are probably quietly looking into having him declared non compos mentis.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

wc626: Wow. All that huh. And at the expense to who? Them refugees or Mr. / Mrs. US Taxpayer.

I think the point was that Republicans are misrepresenting the issue in a way that makes Muslims look bad. And you'll notice how a lot of right wing posters here are doing that just like the politicians.

Lizz: It was more like a couple of dozen in Jersey City

Same with the above...you went from supporting Trump to backing away to changing the topic. Lots of misrepresentation that starts with painting Muslims in a bad light and holding on to it even when the "evidence" starts to evaporate.

MarkG: Trumps comments can be easily proven either way

And now that it's been proven false you've vanished from the conversation, but not before dropping in a bogus study about Muslims and shariah before heading out the door....which again is false information designed to make Muslims look bad. Nice hit and run.

Texas A&M Aggie: I saw a lot of happy gas station owners in Queens weeks after the attack with photos of burning buildings and pictures of OBL on the walls

Yeah, I'm sure you saw a ton of people in gas stations standing next to OBL pictures and just smiling. Maybe there was even a little cartoon thought bubble over their heads reading something like, "I love terrorism." More of the same BS to spread anti-Muslim sentiments to the masses, then you switch gears to Bosnia when challenged.

kazetsukai: Regardless of [Trump] being right or wrong, good or bad...I applaud his audacity

So now that it's proven he was wrong, you still support his use of misrepresentation anyway. The ones that make Muslims look bad.

bass: Problem is, there is too much liberal crap out there to talk about.

Yes, so many things to talk about other than Trump lying to smear Muslims in a conversation about Trump lying to smear Muslims.

WilliB: I don´t know what Trump saw in New Jersey, but the deniers better check their reality. Friends of mine saw this even in Roppongi where a crowd of Iranians erupted in cheers when the TV footage started in the pub.

We've now gone from tens of thousands cheering in Jersey to a friend talking about Iranians in Japan. Because even if Trump is lying his point still stands.

Misrepresentations like the above are the reason why Muslims get questioned by airport authorities just for speaking a foreign language. And apparently it's good enough reason to rush to create misguided laws, to which the Right will point to opinion polls showing support, which will be used again to say that Obama doesn't care about what Americans think about their safety. Because he hates America...as the evidence clearly shows.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

I don't understand, what relevance does Clinton have to the conversation? How would any of her actions add to or remove from Trumps culpability or lack thereof? You keep dodging the question.

No, I said, he should be held accountable, I agree. But at the same time, I would like the left to have the same passion about their candidates as well when they lie, but you guys don't. That was the point.

It wasn't an attack, I was simply pointing out my surprise that such an esteemed gentleman such as yourself, with credentials of having worked at NBC and The Washington Post, and having been the CEO of a major corporation would have such troubles following the topic of the conversation. I would think that such a skill would be required for one to have such a respectable history. But, when I'm wrong, I'll admit it, and it would appear that I was wrong that one would need to be able to follow the topic of a conversation in order to work at NBC and The Washington Post, and be the CEO of a major corporation.

Sure it was. It was a cheap sarcastic personal attack.

But I've been trying to stay on the topic - Trump's claims to have seen thousands of people in New Jersey celebrating after 9-11. I was just trying to figure out why you were bringing Clinton into it when she has nothing to do with it. I gave you the benefit of the doubt that I just wasn't seeing the connection, but it appears that there wasn't actually one and you were bringing up entirely irrelevant topics to distract from Trump's culpability.

No, I just wanted you and the other libs to be fair.

What, really? Did he say that? I always imagined that such successful people would have rather better things to do with themselves.

Yup. We all need a break now and then. Thank you.

Okay this is nonsense. Why is he bringing this up now? It's bad enough he wants to create a muslim database.

It was indeed a stupid thing for Trump to say, even though, we need to take our time when it comes to vetting these people. Now I will say this for the Jihadists that are being tracked and followed internationally, they should be tracked, but it shouldn't end with only the Muslims, anyone that would seek to attack the US.

For now, he should be focusing (along with other candidates) on how to stop the refugees from entering the US. The ones obama / kerry are letting in. This is nonsense too.

Bingo!

Wow. All that huh. And at the expense to who? Them refugees or Mr. / Mrs. US Taxpayer.

Now, I thought you knew, Dems and liberals will make a 30 mile list of excuses for Obama. I'm surprised you didn't fall asleep reading that.

The point of this process is not to please you.

I see, so we elect this guy and then we the people say, the majority, we don't want these people in and then the NOW Tyrant says, NO, you will. Not quite presidentially, I would say.

It's to keep America safe

STOP RIGHT THERE! Calling out the BS! Then the rest is irrelevant. Keep these people out or put them in the Mohave and build tents and vent them one at a time and by the way, while Obama is at it, he should finally close off the border.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

The point Mr. Trump made, indirectly, is that the arm, the and and the fingers of terrorists are already present in the US. He also by his hint indicated that one must be aware of the fact that the terrorists are within the US and that we must all be vigilant. It is not just eliminating ISIS/ISIL army.

In the same context, because he is the candidate for the most powerful position in the entire world, the entire world must be aware and vigilant of the terror presence within their own country. He by his arrogant and audacious speech has in fact awakened many world leaders world wide.

For that we must all give him credit.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

"we need to take our time when it comes to vetting these people" It takes up to two years. It's already thorough.

"Yup. We all need a break now and then. Thank you." What company were you CEO of?

Yes, keep America safe. GWB said that Muslims are good people. I presented facts. And GWB agrees.

No border needed since Jeb Bush said immigration is reversing.

Asian immigrants will outnumber Hispanics in the future.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

I would like the left to have the same passion about their candidates as well when they lie, but you guys don't.

We haven't said anything about democratic candidates whatsoever in this thread, as it has zero relevance to this thread. And a blanket statement like 'you guys don't' is just ridiculous - besides the fact that it's blatantly incorrect, it has nothing to do with Trump's culpability one way or the other, and is just meant as a tactic to defer from discussing Trump's culpability.

Sure it was. It was a cheap sarcastic personal attack.

Not at all. I was just surprised at how my expectations of what a former reporter for NBC and The Washington Post, and a CEO of a major corporation would be able to do, differed from the reality.

No, I just wanted you and the other libs to be fair.

Be fair about what? Trump's culpability is not affected one way or the other by anything Clinton has or hasn't done, so there isn't any equivalence to call fair.

If Clinton has done something wrong, then that discussion belongs in a conversation about Clinton. And if she, or any other democratic candidate has done something wrong, then they deserve condemnation on that - in that conversation. Trump will have zero relevance there, just as Clinton does here.

And if you want to be fair, let's be fair - you just wanted to draw attention away from Trump's ridiculousness, so you tried to drag the conversation to Clinton, in order to protect your hero. But I've called it out for what it is, and bringing up Clinton won't drag us away from Trump's culpability.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

If there were celebrations in Jersey after 9/11 I doubt that I would have forgotten. I don't know what Trump is talking about. He must have somehow gotten things confused with the sick celebrations in Palestine. Ever since then I have lost all sympathy for them and have been better able to understand the sickness that the Israelis have been facing.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

He must have somehow gotten things confused with the sick celebrations in Palestine.

If the Americans hadn't been meddling in the Middle East for so long, the Palestinians would have had no reason to celebrate.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

"we need to take our time when it comes to vetting these people" It takes up to two years.

And they don't need to rush it either.

Yes, keep America safe. GWB said that Muslims are good people. I presented facts. And GWB agrees.

Diane Feinstein, Mike Merrel and Leon Panetta, Robert Gates, Gen. Jack Keone 5 people with 120 years of expierence in foreign intelligence think that Obama is nuts on this issue, I would agree.

No border needed since Jeb Bush said immigration is reversing.

Then you don't have a country. Now you are living in a dream fantasy. Every country has a border. You're starting to sound like Jorge Ramos.

Asian immigrants will outnumber Hispanics in the future.

Great! I love Asian cuisine.

Ok, got it. So the next time, Hillary makes a gaffe and she's called on it, don't deflect and don't go back to the Bush Time machine if you really feel like that. I'll make a note of this and will hold your feet to the fire.

Not at all.

Of course it was. Come on....

I was just surprised at how my expectations of what a former reporter for NBC and The Washington Post, and a CEO of a major corporation would be able to do, differed from the reality.

Like I said, just drop the sarcasm, libs are horrible at it.

Be fair about what? Trump's culpability is not affected one way or the other by anything Clinton has or hasn't done, so there isn't any equivalence to call fair.

If you think so, you are entitled to that opinion.

If Clinton has done something wrong, then that discussion belongs in a conversation about Clinton.

Both of them are not eligible for the presidency, that's a fact.

And if she, or any other democratic candidate has done something wrong, then they deserve condemnation on that - in that conversation. Trump will have zero relevance there, just as Clinton does here.

You guys will never condemn Hillary on anything. I'm still trying to see, how monitoring these refugees is such a bad thing that the majority happen to be Muslims and once again who are the people trying to kill us? Which religion do they belong to these radicals?

And if you want to be fair, let's be fair - you just wanted to draw attention away from Trump's ridiculousness, so you tried to drag the conversation to Clinton,

No, I didn't like what Trump said either, but I won't drink the liberal Kool aid either and let you guys get away with dumping on him and giving one of your own a pass.

in order to protect your hero. But I've called it out for what it is, and bringing up Clinton won't drag us away from Trump's culpability

Believe me when I tell you, Trump is NO hero of mine, but I do enjoy how he slaps down the media every time and they get that deer in the headlights look with NO comeback. Love it! I really, really do.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

"You guys will never condemn Hillary on anything." Like what? She is not even president yet.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Hopefully, both of them won't.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

So the next time, Hillary makes a gaffe and she's called on it, don't deflect and don't go back to the Bush Time machine if you really feel like that.

Again, you're bringing Hillary into a story that has nothing to do with her. I'll ask you again, have you read the article? Because you seem to be having a real problem staying on the topic of it.

Like I said, just drop the sarcasm, libs are horrible at it

What sarcasm? I'm being entirely serious. The difference between what I would expect of one who has worked for such prestigious organizations such as NBC and The Washington Post, as well as being the CEO of a major organization, and the reality are truly surprising to me. If I didn't believe you 100%, I would think you were lying. But I know you're not lying.

Trump's culpability is not affected one way or the other by anything Clinton has or hasn't done, so there isn't any equivalence to call fair.

If you think so, you are entitled to that opinion.

I'm open to the possibility of there being some connection - I'm open-minded that way. That's why I've asked repeatedly for you to explain the connection, but you haven't explained it. So it's looking less and less like my opinion, and more and more like fact.

You guys will never condemn Hillary on anything.

Again I'll ask, why do you keep bringing Hillary up in a thread about Trump? What relevance does she have to the conversation?

No, I didn't like what Trump said either, but I won't drink the liberal Kool aid either and let you guys get away with dumping on him and giving one of your own a pass.

Where has anyone given Hillary a pass in this thread, and why would they? This isn't a thread about Hillary. And yet you keep bringing her up.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Again, you're bringing Hillary into a story that has nothing to do with her. I'll ask you again, have you read the article? Because you seem to be having a real problem staying on the topic of it.

Save it. You will not tell me what I can or cannot say.

What sarcasm?I'm being entirely serious.

I doubt it.

The difference between what I would expect of one who has worked for such prestigious organizations such as NBC and The Washington Post, as well as being the CEO of a major organization, and the reality are truly surprising to me. If I didn't believe you 100%, I would think you were lying. But I know you're not lying

Thanks, I appreciate that.

Again I'll ask, why do you keep bringing Hillary up in a thread about Trump? What relevance does she have to the conversation?

We already went through this.

Where has anyone given Hillary a pass in this thread, and why would they?

Every other thread that questioned emails to Benghazi etc. all of it was dismissed by the left and now you guys definetly want to make sure that Trump is held accountable for his statements? So save that energy, because when the next rounds of Hillary gaffes come out, you guys will dismiss them as well.

This isn't a thread about Hillary. And yet you keep bringing her up.

No, it's about accountability and it shouldn't be regulated to only Trump. All politicians should be held to the exact same stranded.

Me too. It was the Palestinians, Pakistanis and Iraqi's jumping for joy immediately after 9/11. If I am wrong, CNN, FOX, Al Jazeera and other images on TV, from other news sources, deceived me.

I predict Orange Daffy's race-baiting with this, and "guy desreved to be roughed up" will make his poll numbers improve. Nothing appeals to a good half of the Republican party like good ol' race-baiting.

And that is why

The Republican party must be destroyed.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And that is why

The Republican party must be destroyed.

Nah. They can stay. You can't have "good" without a tangible example of "evil". There would be nothing to compare "good" against.

Look at it this way... most of the world's religions consider God to be the ultimate supreme being - "almighty" in most religion's views. Yet there seems to be this constant struggle against Satan or some other being. This "struggle" is actually an artificial construct. A truly "almighty" being would just eliminate the opposition and be done with it if the opposition were a real threat UNLESS... the opposition serves a purpose in providing an example of how NOT to be. So God lets the Devil/Satan continue to exist at his discretion.

"And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering,” Trump said

The racist liar who wants to President scores a truther triumph. Another wise choice by the GOP Shia-Tea. Boy, is this guy just cuckoo. No wonder Republicans love him. Rage on Mr. Rump, there's so many lies to tell.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

The main problem with Trump is that he is a divisive character. He splits people apart, rather than bringing them together. That is not a good quality in a president. A president is supposed to unify a country, not divide it. He's mocking people's disabilities, their weight, their ethnicity. He incites hatred. If he were to become president, it would be disastrous for the country. That said, for all my lack of faith in America, I still think Americans would never actually elect him to the presidency. I think he is just too far-out whacked to be chosen by the whole. By the republicans, maybe. But by America? I just don't think so.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

The main problem with Trump is that he is a divisive character. - comments

As a fair minded observation this one misses the mark by a bit.

Rump has set out a game plan that started with assaults of Mexicans and berated McCain's five years as a POW. Divisive? More than that, he plays to raging ignorance and promotes fear based on those lies. (Proof enough on his now denial of his lies.)

What Rump the Great shows is the sickening minds that populate the GOP Shia-Tea. Too ready to hate and too ready to cheer Rump's racism. A sad and criminal depiction of the American people are seen in the Rump mirror.

While much in the comment is proved in the persistence of Rump's dementia, the harm he does to Americans and America is incalculable.

If there's justice in America Rump will become the pariah he has worked so hard to create. For a guy who dodged the draft and criticizes Senator McCain five years as a POW?

Every veteran should oppose his candidacy and if there's a good lawyer among them, they should see this man is prosecuted for his crimes.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

To the contrary... Mr. Trump is in his own way UNITING the thoughts of the people, by providing "definite" and "direct" opinions of his own. He leaves very little doubt as to exactly where he is coming from. That allows those that agree to unite as well as those that disagree to unite. In that way a definite dialog is possible without the guess work.

It is the indirect, the evasive hinting and out right lying of Mr. Obama and the Democratic party as well as some of the Media that has "divided" and still give "divisive opinions. That only invites "confusion" and "dissolution", which in effect prevent any meaningful dialog, but emotional reaction and definite lack of organization. That is something NOT desirable in any election or within any nation.

Mr. Trump keeps the people united as a nation but with difference in opinions on issues. The others divide the nation into religious, racial and other factions which are basically emotional and thereby "weaken" the unity of the nation.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Mr. Trump is in his own way UNITING the thoughts of the people, by providing "definite" and "direct" opinions of his own. - comments

Yes, Rump has finally made Americans safe to freely unite to espouse racial hatred, religious prejudice and the unity of lies for his own benefit.

Rump's definite and direct opinions include rounding-up millions of Mexicans, placing Muslims in concentration camps, denigrating women and operating as a dictator to achieve these ends. FREEDOM!

Finally! The freedom to unite in hate and killing in a state of paranoia are praised and worshiped at the alter of Rump the Great.

And, thankfully, millions will sweep this Great and Powerful Rump into the Oval Office to begin his reign of Freedom, from sea, to shining sea . . . with all those dirty foreigners and allah people wiped from the face of Rump's new nation. The nation of Rumps. Or, as they will join in unity as "Rump-Heads", with their "Rump Hats".

At leaste one person "gets it". And, obviously this is what the Founding Fathers intended because Rump saw them on TV celebrating the prejudice and paranoia specified in the Constitution.
