All the talk about "an imminent attack" reminds me of WMDs and 45 minutes capabilities from a previous misadventure.
Also, what did Trump tweet back in November 2011, as the US entered an election year? “In order to get [re-]elected, @BarackObama will start a war with Iran.”

Trump's the best thing that's happened to the military-industrial complex. Has anyone seen his latest tax info to see which corporations he's invested in? His current Secretary of Defense is from Raytheon, replacing one from Boeing, two of the globe's largest defense contractors.
After tearing up the Iran nuclear deal Trump's started a war with Iran, sending even more US troops to the Middle East in the US's ongoing wars for oil.
Trump's keeping US troops in around 150 different countries and continuing the Bush-Obama-Trump war in Afghanistan and elsewhere.
More money for overseas wars for oil instead of healthcare, infrastructure and other programs benefitting the 99%, i.e. those who'll pay more in taxes because of the wars while the .01% pay less, thanks to Trump and the GOP.
No more wars for oil. And gas.
Chip Star
Even for an article that specific puts responsibility for this act on Donny, you refuse to criticize him and instead chose to criticize the US. How transparent can you be?
nostromo
I suspect your comfort will be short lived as he will be replaced by someone more extreme no doubt
extanker
Now that is funny.
Chip Star
And accurate.

Please Mr Trump, go play golf and let the pros of the Pentagone do their job.
serendipitous1
Trump is really trying to change the subject. So, based on his fundamentally flawed logic, if Iran killed Pompeo in order to 'prevent war', it would be ok? This is going to end in many lost lives, both American and Iranian/Iraqi.
Chip Star
*The United States is sending nearly 3,000 more Army troops to the Mideast in the volatile aftermath of the killing ordered by Trump, defense officials said.*
Trumpophiles: So much for Donny getting us out of endless wars in the ME. Am I right, or am I right?
CrazyJoe
How many Americans will have to pay the ultimate penalty/death, thanks to this awful man's ploy to get reelected?
This really crosses a very dangerous line. Assassination of a high-ranking military official and very popular leader in Iran. Trump has just endangered every American general, diplomat and prominent American as well as regular American citizens abroad. His stupid departure from the JCPOA (aka "the Iran nuclear deal") despite Iran's adherence and resulting escalations have made the world a far more dangerous place. Great job by Donnie.

Counter to previous posts claiming those who don't blindly follow Trump are traitors. But then flamers just want to keep fires burning.

A large part of the American economy is dedicated to war.Hollywood is full of companies producing movies which glorify violence.
Blaming Trump, for what is plainly American nature is incoherent...
SJ
The assassination by a drone within a sovereign country during peace time was only possible because Iran does not have nuke. Can the U.S. do the same in North Korea? I would bet "No".
Chip Star
Uhh. . . Donny ordered the killing. Smooth “logic” you’ve displayed.
PTownsend
Further increasing costs to working and middle class taxpayers, those whose sons and daughters will do the fighting that benefits the .01%, ie. those in Trump's 'elite class'.
Wait and see how long it takes for Trump and the pols in Congress getting the largest campaign contributions from the various big war industries to ask for even more increases in the defense budget, and perhaps reallocations of moneys from public good programs to finance this latest war.
Trump and the GOP know the one thing they've got going is the economy, and they know to keep it strong they need to spend more on the military.
A dirty economy being made dirtier by Trump.
bass4funk
But they’re not looking for WMDs, now to be fair and I’m serious here, none of us know what that “imminent attack or threat” was. Unlike Bush, Trump and Obama are not the kind of people that want regime change. If you want to be cautious on this, I agree, but I do think there is serious concern here for this to have taken place, now if you want to take the approach of jumping the gun on this without knowing what the Pentagon knows and the intelligence community, that is your right. But I believe the world is a safer and better place that he was taken out. I personally feel good about it.
Hmmmm...Trump says a lot of things, liberals dismiss literally all of it, but now we have to take his words seriously?
bass4funk
You can’t prove that. So you want to jump on that bandwagon of liberals without a shred of evidence, not surprised.
Who was also responsible for over 600 US deaths and he was taken out, great! Bush and Obama didn’t have the guts and I’m glad Trump did.
I would have been critical of Trump had he not taken action to get rid of this guy. You don’t take this guy out, the Iranians will be more emboldened to take out Americans whenever they wish and I hope he continues. And the Dems are mad the blabbing fools they are for not being informed about this? They can pound sand and I mean that.
PTownsend
Probably true. Trump's never been known to read much at all. He'd rather play golf at one of his properties and have taxpayers pick up the tab, which benefits his properties.
Instead he follows his gut instincts at the moment he makes a decision, based on what he needs, what's best for him at that time. Throughout his life the highest need has been based on what's best for him and his bank account.
What's Trump getting for this that will benefit him and Trump/Ivanka Inc, beyond distracting from impeachment, Ukraine and the ever growing list of his screwups.
lincolnman
"Down with the NEOCONs!"
"Bring the troops home!"
"Stop endless wars!"
"No more American blood in the sand!"
And the Trumpers all bowed down and saluted Trump's genius...
Now, they try to twist themselves in the complete opposite direction...they are spinning faster than a Maytag on Full spin...
Just admit it Trumpers - you were conned - just like with the Mexico paid for wall.
Bush #1 - Repub ME War #1, Bush #2 Repub ME War #2, and now Trump Repub ME War #3....
Two things guaranteed when you vote Repub; tax cuts for the richest Top 1% and another Middle East war...
bass4funk
According to the very, very smart liberal media...lol
And of course liberals know what’s in the head of the President, they’re all Clairvoyants.
Based upon the intel he’s received and the advise of his military staff, probably.
Well, you and I don’t know that, but looking at it logically and not emotionally, the last thing any President wants is to start a war in a campaign year. So regardless of what CNN, Mother Jones or the Nation is burping out, I don’t think the President likes this or wants this one bit, but he knows the ramifications of not taking this guy out and it was high time, glad that he did and I hope he can get more of these guys.
Simon Foston
Trump's had almost three years to hunt him down yet he didn't.
Mr. NoidallToday 08:17 am JST
I would wait to see what the results are before calling it a phenomenal success, but I'm not nearly as fervent in my admiration for wannabe right-wing strongmen or any other politician as some of the posters here.
oldman_13
So much for him pulling out the troops.
Imagine the outrage and furor if an Iranian missile or drone killed an American General.
Utterly reckless, more war for oil hoorah (or is it hooyah).
bass4funk
So it would seem you think the President should do like the previous two and take it up the rear, wow! I’m always so confused with you, Trump doesn’t take action, he’s a coward, Trump takes action, he’s a warmonger, Lincoln...please tell us which is it? You can only be one or you can just simply say, I hate this President and I just want to bloviate and nothing he can say or do will change my opinion, I’m just angry! Then we have a clear inkling of what you really feel, but don’t confuse us please. Lol

Trump and his handlers must think the best way for him to further appeal to his base is to look tough, especially look tough when dealing with those 'not from their demographic'.
They'll soon start to push their version of what they call patriotism, which they've reduced to cheerleading for war.
Will Trump hug a flag at his next rally? Say once again he knows more than the generals? The flag hugging appeals to his chickenhawk followers.
At his next rally will he make a finger gun and say 'boom boom'? Will he say he'd have taken out the murderer with the semi-auto weapon slaughtering school kids?
Trump and his handlers know the best way to keep big campaign contributions coming from big defense industries, their financiers, and the big oil corporations being protected by wars for oil is to start another war. And continue the ones started by previous admins.
u_s__reamer
Trump is no longer satisfied by the mere office of president. For the first time in his life he's edging "ever closer to God" with the power to decide who lives and who dies. This kind of power can only be corrupting and now he seems to be acquiring a taste for this highly addictive, heady brew of death-dealing. MAGA has long jumped the shark , so for sanity's sake, somebody please haul this orange abomination out of the White House asap.
bass4funk
Well, he would have looked like a fool had he not taken this bold action. Thank God.
No one wants a war, tune out the Democrat surrogate pundits on CNN and NYT.
What?
Liberals believe we will fly around the world with giant helium balloons and commute using zip lines mounted everywhere and the big wigs plotting to overthrow ever liberal climate supporter, yeah, sounds about right. Lol

Netanyahu is thrilled. Pompeo called Saudi despot MBS to thank him for his support.
Whatever you may think of Iran's involvement in Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon (destructive, in my opinion), remember that the U.S. continues to have a much larger involvement in the region and has killed countless more people than Iran has. Civilians in Iran understand this. Civilians in Iraq understand this.
Whatever you may think of Iran, this was a really dumb move by Trump. First he tore up the nuclear deal because of his petty jealousy of Obama and his kowtowing to Sheldon Adelson and millenarian evangelicals, reversing years of progress with Iran. Now he has not only further antagonized Iran and risked starting another war, he has also lost the support of Iraq's government.
This is going to get very bad. There will be no winners.
Laguna
Trying to explain this to my wife, I got into the concept of "primary identity." The killing of Soleimani was less an attack against Iran than an attack on the Shia in their endless rivalry against the Sunni and, to a lesser extent, Western powers. This is important due to the Shia arc that extends from Yemen along the Persian Gulf to Lebanon. Most of these people identify more with "Shia" than with any nationality; as such, an attack on Soleimani was an attack on them all.
Time will tell whether this was a clever move or one monumentally stupid. But considering Trump's teeth-and-gums closeness with the Saudi Sunni regime, it would not be unreasonable for the Shia to see the US has taken sides in this religious rivalry. The US can no longer be seen as an honest broker between the two sides and deserves the whirlwind this will entail.
bass4funk
Too bad, We tolerated Soleimani long enough, his demise was long overdue.
Definitely not on the side of the Shia Mullah Regime seeing the carnage our drone strike did.
As if the ME ever listened to us. Come on now....
I just hope the young people will continue to demand regime change.
lincolnman
Confused? I'd say confused (and conned) are those that for the past three years have been cheering Trump when he said he was "ending endless wars" and "Bringing the troops home" - and now are rooting for another major Middle East War - which will be larger and more deadly than either Iraq or Afghanistan...
Two Middle East Wars aren't enough for Repubs - the more the better...more added to the deficit and more Americans dying in the sand...
But most importantly, it will spike oil prices, decrease output from the Middle East, giving Putin and Russia a major win...Russia oil revenue increases and Vlad steps in to play peace-maker.
Trump/Pence 2020 - Gotta Make Russia Great Again...
bass4funk
That is not what I asked you. So once again, which is it, Lincoln? Tell us, please.

There won’t be a war if Iran simply stops.
why don’t you liberals cheer for that and blame Iran if they don’t?
or do you as liberals support Iran to retaliate?
AgentX
I think it's 'booyah' or some-such incoherence...
Yep, America, the World Police, brought terrorism to the world outside the Middle East and is still at it. The people of middle eastern countries and others across the globe pay for America's constant belligerence.
The American military industrial complex is simply outta control. It is intent on keeping the ME in a permanent state of war.
These drone attacks in sovereign countries are disgusting, abhorrent and cowardly acts.
It doesn't matter who's in government in the Whitehouse, the people of America have lost all control. It doesn't help that so many of them are raised on glorified violence and war-mongering and are so deeply brainwashed that they actually support the machine.
Wat a sad, dark world the US is creating...
lincolnman
Yes, please do tell us - NEOCONs bad, as in "Iraq war was the worst foreign policy decision ever" - what you and Trump have been saying for the past four years, or now "We got him"....and one more Repub Middle East war - the biggest one yet?

Interesting how the Left is rushing to Iran's defense against the US policy towards Iran. Soleimani killed over 600 Americans and it is gratifying to finally see something done about it. I was for a direct attack on Iranian territory - but this works just as well. It is stupid to pretend that Iran isn't at war with the US and continuously ignore their attacks.
bass4funk
Great!
Hardly, thanks to Nancy, Schiff, Nadler and Schumer, they have made it much easier for Trump to slide into his second term.
Sh1mon M4sada
Yes, agreed. I think Trumpophiles are at risk of celebrating too early. It could turn out to be a race to the bottom like Obama's drone campaign that supposedly cut the serpent off at the head, but not able to realise there's a pit full of hiding serpents. Worse, the more you upset the populace, the fuller the put gets.
On the other hand it could tease out the Iranian, give them some rope and they'll finish themselves off, they're getting angry...
Japan on the otherhand is the only looser here having just had a chin wag with Iranian leaders, and about to send ships into the pit. They might as well change the rising sun into a target symbol.
bass4funk
How many were killed by the sectarian violence?

Almost exactly 3 years.
For those who had been wondering all this time how long it would take this idiot to fumble his way into involving the US in another major unwinnable war. 3 years. Credit where it is due, I thought it would have happened a lot earlier in his reign so its somewhat commendable that he avoided it for this long.
Jim Harper
Whether this turns out to be a good idea or not, only time will tell. I've no doubt we'll see a rise in proxy attacks on US interests and state-funded terrorism, so I'm highly suspicious of the logic that this man's death has saved lives. Killing people who can be quickly and easily replaced is generally an exercise in futility; he is not a figure like Bin laden or Al-Baghdadi whose replacements can never be expected to replicate their power and status.
There's also no question that this will lead to a far greater US engagement in the Middle East, which is completely at odds with Trump's xeroxed 'bring the troops home' slogans. I'll happily admit that I wanted Trump to become more engaged in Middle Eastern affairs, but these actions are less a military campaign than an election campaign.
Sh1mon M4sada
You're getting desperate @zichi, only desperate people resort to arguments beyond first order principle. Your argument is many levels beyond first order. You might as well say that butterfly that flap its wing caused wars.
USA wanted regime change in Iraq...because of X. If you disagree, sure make that argument. I might even agree with you.
Iraqi deaths caused by sectarian violence would have been worse if peacekeeping force weren't there. We know this, for a fact, because there was a direct correllation in adjustment of troop numbers to sectarian violence casualties, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria...everywhere.
Now as for this strike. What would you do if a general of a foreign power meets with a terrorist militia head, and your embassy is attacked, your base is attacked, and the host nation is powerless to do anything. Wouldn't you defend yourself?
starpunk
And when is Trump's reign of terror in the USA going to end?
Obama took out bin Laden and Gaddafy, two menaces who really started big trouble.
In December 1998 Clinton was impeached and he launched Operation Desert Fox, a week long air war on Iraq (ME War #3). That alone would've wiped out the WMD there, if there were any left.
Trump is just thumping his chest like a gorilla and strutting like a peacock, but he's really just stinking up his diapers yet again.
bass4funk
The sectarian violence did more, you going to blame the Iranians and their proxies as well?
I agree, but that has nothing to do with taking out a monster that was responsible for murdering so many American soldiers, don’t conflate the two.
Nothing, which is why Trump is trying to get out, but the Neocons want to remain there.
And look at the death and destruction they caused among their own civilians.
bass4funk
But we will never know, right?
What?
starpunk
Donnie has thrown another hissy-fit. He's crying and pouting because he got an impeachment for Christmas. He needs to go to a corner, have his Twitter taken away from him, and shut up!
bass4funk
But the sectarian violence gets to own it more. Sunni on Shia, we were just in the middle of all the violence.
Ok, so screw the embassy, I see.
Naw, the impeachment might be the best thing that could have happened to him. Made him more popular and made him more money for his war chest and easier to get a second term. $102 million by the last 4th quarter? Oh, Dems are in for a serious political beat down!

I hope Trump will not use his bone spurs as an excuse not to attend the funerals of Americans who will die as a result of this stupid escalation.
bass4funk
I’m sorry, but I worry more about American lives.
We need the Saudis to help contain Iran, but make no mistake, I’m not a fan of that regime either, but when you take into two lesser evils and you have an enemy that can help you with a more dangerous enemy then that person will become my ally.
Probsbly not, but neither did his predecessors.
Hmmm, if know the Democrats then it’s this: as whiny as these people are, they’ll manage to keep it in the headlines. Somehow...someway...
Now liberals are worried about costs? Lol

didnt not our President warn Iran several times and not retaliate when he could have? He even sent a tweet in all capital letters to not mess with us. That’s serious business in Trumpworld, John Kerry must have forgot you explain the seriousness of that.
now they did a rocket attack on our military, murder a contractor and attack our embassy. But we are the ones escalating? Nope.
lincolnman
That's an easy one - as I've said many times, he's nothing but a draft-dodging coward, just like Bill Clinton, shirking his responsibility to wear the uniform.
But I don't know what he is currently - unless you want to call him schizophrenic...that's why I've asked you 4 times....
Is he the guy you voted for in 2016 saying that he would end the endless wars and bring the troops home - the one who fired NEOCON Bolton and called him a "disaster"? Or is he the President that has increased the troop presence in the Middle East by 14,000 this year with another 2,000 deployed over the past few days, and who just started ME War 3.0?
You know, like the guy who told O'Reilly that he never directed Rudy on Ukraine but is on record in the cal summary saying "I will have Rudy call you"....
PTownsend
I don't consider myself a liberal, which I think in the lexicon of alt rightists has come to mean anyone who doesn't agree with Trump or parrot other alt right leaders around the globe, but I'd say the US under Trump escalated this by tearing up the Iran nuke agreement. Trump and his neocons own this.
Blacklabel
So we “escalated” this by leaving an agreement where we paid Iran money to not attack us and not develop Nukes? and also gave amnesty to this terrorist who was killing people all over?!
Iran has no responsibility for attacking our embassy and murdering our people, that’s justified because we left a one sided agreement negotiated by a previous administration?
appeasements and planes of cash are over. If you want to call that escalation, fine. I call it needed policy change. But it doesn’t justify embassy attacks and murder of Americans.
bass4funk
Ok, so you have a personal anger and vendetta towards the man, gotcha! See, that wasn’t so hard.
That’s like asking the same question about the mental stability of the Democrats and yet, we get no answers
More like the Neocons want him to stay in the ME with no endgame in sight and against what he wants, but at the same time, won’t stand by and allow our personal interests as in the embassy case to be allowed as a target of destruction for the radicals.

More like offing off anyone that wants to strike out against Americans and any of our interests.
And continuing to help Trump even more so. Great!
SuperLib
No tears lost for this guy, but he was an Iranian military member killed by the US on Iraqi soil. It's going to be a minefield from this point forward.
Trump isn't the man we want at the helm. He's too prone to wild swings in judgement and actions and he ignores the resources of our allies. If you were to ask 10 people what his goals are in the Middle East you'd get 10 different answers, then in 2 weeks you'd get a fresh list of answers.
He didn't notify anyone. We literally bombed first then told Americans to get out of Iraq second. Our allies were left scrambling trying to figure out how to handle the situation on their end. It's like it's being run by a 6-year old who doesn't know any better.
This idiot of a leader left a working deal and engaged in economic warfare. My guess is he thought some sanctions and tweets would accomplish his goal of getting Iran to renegotiate (the details yet unknown) deal. Maybe he's surprised that didn't happen? Maybe he didn't imagine Iran doing something different, like being Iran?
Trump fired Bolton for his aggressive stance, now Bolton is cheering from the sidelines. Amazing how Bolton got his win in the end after being fired for it. Everything changes daily with this idiot in the White House.
Iraq is just screwed. They're going to get caught in the middle of all of this. They're in a no-win situation.
Who knows what will happen next. Probably a steady stream of killing on both sides. If Iraq orders US troops to leave then Trump might as well just pack it up and hand the country to Iran. My guess is that Iran will start to push the boundaries on the nuclear angle as well.
All because the dumb orange man decided to leave a working deal without any plan in place.
bass4funk
Oh, speak for yourself dear, sir! Many of us do want him exactly where he’s at.
Good, keep everyone on their toes.
Neither did Obama when he took out OBL, Clinton didn’t either when he bombed Kosovo. Don’t even start with that one....

A “treaty” that wasn’t binding and was disastrous for our allies. Congress should have approved it, but there was no way it was going to get through, especially we don’t even have diplomatic relations with that country.
I don’t think he thought that at all, Bolton...maybe. Trump is trying to get us out of the ME, always have and the Neocons want to remain there.
Now all of a sudden the Dems idolize Bolton? No wonder he wouldn’t be caught testifying for them, he knows the Democrats are losers.
As if it wasn’t already.
Given the Make-up of the country, it technically is.
They can try, they can try, but something tells me, they’re not as suicidal as they want you to think.

The 'Trump's a victim of the deep state and neocons' defense is tired, a last resort argument used by his faithful still unable to accept they've been conned by the corrupt serial conman.
GoTrumpers said all along that Trump was beholden to no one, that he's his own man. But since his election he's shown he's a deep swamper, a part of the global establishment, a president (impeached) serving the interests of Wall Street, big oil, and big defense, someone for sale to the highest bidder. Has anyone seen Trump's taxes to see how much he's invested in the various 'bigs'?
smithinjapan
All the blood that follows is on Trump's hands, and now there are FAR more Americans at risk than the plot they "caught him red-handed in" (which they won't show any proof for or explain, of course). Trump claimed he was taking troops out of the Middle-East, something "Obama could never do!", yet now not only are there more than ever, with troops moved when Trump stabbed Syria in the back to appease Putin and make Russia greater again, but he ADDED troops to Saudi Arabia. Now more will go.
Trump is the biggest terrorist there is, plain and simple. There are going to be MAJOR retaliations on American targets, and many will die. That's 100% on Trump and his supporters.
bass4funk
That's way more than enough.
They can keep it, but we don’t and won’t and Europe won’t do a darn thing to stop us.
Dunno about that, not the majority of young people. Even in Iran many people were celebrating his demise.
Not him but his administration.

You can’t prove that. So you want to jump on that bandwagon of liberals without a shred of evidence, not surprised.

Gaijinjland
I’m sure this Iranian General was a bad guy. I’m not sure it was the smartest move on Trump’s part to “take him out” because this guy was a military general. Obama took out OBL. The difference is that OBL was, at least officially, disassociated with every government in the region, except Pakistan, and was a known terrorist. I don’t think Trump can trump Obama.
bass4funk
Duuuude...lol, you funny.
I think the biggest mistake Trump made was to not fire all of those Washington establishment holdovers, he should have the way Reagan did, cleaned house then a lot of these crazy liberals wouldn’t be causing a ruckus as they’re doing now, we all would have some peace and quiet.

The thing that bothers me about Trump is that he doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of his office. His decisions, him not reading the intelligence reports, him not calculating the consequences of his actions. He’s a loose cannon and needs to be reigned in.

So much for the Trumpets cheering him for bringing the troops home.

You forgot the fact QUDS has already been designated a terrorist organisation.
Many posters here also chose to ignore the fact the Iraqis did nothing whilst the embassy was under attack.
Then consider the PMF, what are they? You want to afford them the same rights as unarmed citizen going about their business?
Pretty straight forward defensive move to me. The alternative is do nothing...which doesn't work either.

After drone attack on Soleimani, next should come on President Trump's radar those terrorists sitting in Pakistan who have been involved in series of terrorist attacks in India during the last few decades.

What? He just attacked and killed a major military leader of a Middle East country - something every NEOCON from Cheney to Bolton to Graham have lusted for. Just like Bush 1 and Bush 2 before him, he's starting another major war in the Middle East. Trump is a card-carrying Repub NEOCON - and all the BS he fed his supporters about "Bringing the troops home" was just a con. An you and the other Trumpers here fell for it. LOL.
Ain't no liberal pundits who gave the order to kill Solemanei - that was the Great Orange NEOCON from Mar-A-Lago....the one who conned you into voting for him to "end endless wars"...and to "bring the troops home"....

Doesn’t matter, they were not there, so it doesn’t matter either way. We do what we think is in our best national interests and Europe can’t and won’t stop us, they’re not that stupid.
But they’ve supported us in gathering intelligence, they’re the only true democracy in the ME, supplied us with technology, innovation, produce, of course they’re a close ally.
Yippie!

Look back in very recent history. 2011 withdrawal, 2013 IS arrived. Wishful thinking.
I agree, Russia and China should be the focus for the average western country, NOT the Middle East, but Russia and China knows this too and they are milking every minute of it.

Doesn’t mean you’re a Neocon. Remember, Trump hasn’t been that long of a Republican, but I would have down the same as well. I’m a bit of a hawk myself, but a Neocons, Nope.
Not him, Obama when he made that stupid treaty that should have never been made.
Of course he’s not, never, ever heard wanting regime change on anyone, now if you can sum up articles where Trump recently has said we should remain in the ME, I’ll owe you an apology.

Trump assassinated the general to distract everybody from the impeachment trial...

Iran will never go to war. They hide and talk tough and have all their little minion armies do the dirty work for them. They also understand the technology of war is very different than it was 20 years ago. The U.S. could wipe out their entire infrastructure in about 30 minutes if they choose. They have alot of man power, but the U.S doesn't play 20th century war anymore. Scary but true.

It has been reported that Karl Rove told Bush in 2003 that if he wanted to get re-elected he would have to start a war with Iraq. I have to wonder if something similar isn't going on again. Trump distracts the voters from the Ukrainian scandal, and appeals to Americans' patriotism to support him in a time of war. For a man with almost no morals, the political calculation was probably an easy one.

Distract? Trump is riding high in the polls, raising money hand over fist more than any Democrat none of these socialists can beat him and he’s worried that McConnell is not going to exonerate him? ROFL!
