Once again, a President Trump is correct. The reason the MSM on the national level worked overtime to underreport radical Islamic terrorism was because for eight years it was Obama's narrative that he kept America free from terrorism. Thus, any honest reporting about acts of radical Islamic terrorism committed on U.S. soil by the MSM made Obama look bad. And as everyone on the left knows, making Obama look bad was the highest of sins that the radical alt-left media could commit. . . .

Didn't he already prove he's not a joke

Nope. He just extended his clown gig. Still a bad joke.

Which is news, Jeff?

Or are Muslims guilty until proven innocent?

For all of you -bass4funk 妄想 (もうそう)is your Japanese word of the day.

December 2015: Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, a married Pakistani couple, stormed a San Bernardino County government building with combat gear and rifles and opened fire on about 80 employees enjoying an office Christmas party. They killed 14 after pledging loyalty to ISIS. A third Muslim was charged with helping buy weapons.

July 2015: Mohammad Abdulazeez opened fire on a military recruiting center and US Navy Reserve center in Chattanooga, Tenn., where he shot to death four Marines and a sailor. Obama refused to call it terrorism.

May 2015: ISIS-directed Muslims Nadir Soofi and Elton Simpson opened fire on the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, shooting a security guard before police took them down.

April 2013: Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Muslim brothers from Chechnya, exploded a pair of pressure-cooker bombs at the Boston Marathon, killing three and wounding more than 260. At least 17 people lost limbs from the shrapnel.

September 2012: Terrorists with al Qaeda in the Maghreb attacked the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, killing the US ambassador, a US Foreign Service officer and two CIA contractors. Obama and then-Secretary of State Clinton misled the American people, blaming the attack on an anti-Muslim video.

November 2009: Army Maj. Nidal Hasan opened fire on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13. Obama ruled it “workplace violence,” even though Hasan was in contact with an al Qaeda leader before the strikes and praised Allah as he mowed down troops.

June 2009: Al Qaeda-trained Abdulhakim Muhammad opened fire on an Army recruiting office in Little Rock, Ark., killing Pvt. William Long and wounding Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula.

In Trump and his Trumpsters' twisted world, you're more likely to die in a terrorist attack on American soil, than by an illegally owned (or legally owned) handgun in the U.S. Go figure.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump may have a point. German police last week raided nearly 60 locations including mosques in a massive hunt for Jihadi terrorists, and I didnt see the news here or on CNN.

No, Trump hasn't any other point other than the one on the top of his orange-coifed, Propecia-enhanced head. A German police raid? Seriously? Man, you guys have the attention span of a tsetse fly. Stay on point, Jeff. Stay on point. This isn't the Kelly-Anne spin room and I don't have to be polite with your stupidly obvious efforts to conflate, distract, and otherwise avoid the actual point.

The discussion is about American media supposedly not providing "sufficient" coverage of extremist attacks. A German police investigation and subsequent raid doesn't come even close to the definition of an extremist attack. Granted, I should probably allow that you adhere to some "alternate" definition, but I'm just going to stick with the definition that the grown ups use.

Meanwhile, no one from the Trump camp has offered any sort of metric for what "sufficient" coverage actually entails. I would imagine it would have to be something so sensational and over the top as to make Trump's tack of selling the American people a fairy tale, about Trojan Horses from the seven nations he tried to ban more believable. But the media isn't falling for that, and this is what get his -- and your -- Fruit-of-the-Looms in a bunch.

The media did, however, notice the so-called President lying about murder rates in the US . . . Again.

JeffLeeFEB. 08, 2017 - 05:51AM JST Trump may have a point. German police last week raided nearly 60 locations including mosques in a massive hunt for Jihadi terrorists, and I didnt see the news here or on CNN.

Are you accusing the German police of being terrorists, or do you not know the difference between a police raid and a terrorist attack?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Trump may have a point. German police last week raided nearly 60 locations including mosques in a massive hunt for Jihadi terrorists, and I didnt see the news here or on CNN.

Also, Western authorities are constantly foiling Islamic plots, some bigger than 9/11, and they rarely make the news, or only make it as small items.

Fear easily replaces fact in the GOP bubble. Most of them are still promoting the false narrative that there is no vetting. Max fear from a group of people afraid of their own shadow.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Bass,

Malik reportedly had become very religious in the years before the attack, wearing . . . yada yada yada, deflect, deflect, deflect . . .

Stay on point, Bass. I know it's a big ask, but stay on point.

The ban is perportedly to protect Americans from the apochryphal Trojan Horse foreign terrorist entering the country and ultimately killing Americans. Still with me?

But the ban was aimed at countries from which NONE of the people you just wrote that little rant about came, to which American issued a perfectly reasonable WTF?!?

Let's revisit that point, because some folks drinking the Trump Kool-Aid still seem to think everyone is simply going to forget this little hiccup: NONE of them are from the seven countries Trump is still trying to convince his utterly gullible fanbase are a clear and present danger to domestic security. NONE of them. In fact, no one from ANY of the countries listed in Bannon's list have ever killed an American in an act of domestic terror. Not a single. WHich begs the obvious question: WTF?!?

Meanwhile, the folks on your list of distractions were all home grown. While you sit here and try to draw a ridiculously tenous connection to Yemen, despite the fact that the ridicalization of more than half of the attackers occurred online, you have said nothing to address the reality that for every one American killed on US soil by an Islamic extremist, nearly two were killed on US soil by American white supremacists and folks motivated by racial and religious hatred and/or anti-government views.

No thoughts on how to protect Americans from these asshats, since they seem to be more proficient at killing us? How about a blanket restriction on freedom of movement for all Montanans? How about a lockdown on Idaho? No? Nothing?

Sheesh! And you prop yourself up as someone serious about protecting Americans. Pffft!

. . . and Saudi Arabia (which should also be on the ban list)

Well, finally some degree of recognition for the blindingly obvious exclusion from Bannon's haphazardly scrabbled together wish-list, even though a blanket ban on all Saudi citizens would be just as asininely pointless. Our current conprehensive immigrant and refugee vetting protocol is designed precisely to avoid a repeat of 9/11. And the numbers don't lie: No one from Saudi Arabia has come in to kil Americans since 9/11. Not a single one.

Now here's a little nugget for you to chew on, since you seem to be all-things-Trump now that he's in the White House: You understand how that Trojan Horse Trump likes to rattle on about actually works, don't you? If this Trojan Horse scenario really were the thing that Trump is trying almost comically to make it out to be, then guess what? They're already here, champ. A Muslim terrorist under every bed. A Islamic radical behind every door. It could be your neighbor. It could be your best friend. Hell, it could even be YOU, for all you know. That's just how sneaky those little radicalist buggers can be.

Or, at least, that's the narrative Bannon would try to ram down our collective throats.

Nah. I'm not that gullible and I would hope that you aren't either.

No, he proves he's a joke by the outrageous statement he makes and his "alternative" facts. That some people believe it doesn't make him less of a joke.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Ah, the inverted reality of the alt-fact President. The one who seems to have ignored the recent, underreported (when compared to the 'underreported attacks' on his list) Christianist terror attack here in Canada. I'm going to suggest people start using 'trump' as a verb for saying things that invert reality in the service of hatemongering.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

"This man is a joke."

Didn't he already prove he's not a joke when he won the election even though a whole lotta people were saying he was a joke?

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

So let me get this straight: Trump is saying that all of these massacres and terrorist attacks, which he obviously found out from the thorough reporting of them in the media, are being under-reported? This flawed logic proves we have a mentally unstable organism sitting in the White House governing the U.S.

And yet, conservatives and fellow Trumpsters will point to "Bowling Green" as an example of a terrorist act which was not fully reported on by the media (probably because it only exists as a wet dream somewhere in the vast expanse of nothingness we call "Trump's brain").

6 ( +6 / -0 )

That's the compelling evidence you're going to go with? Really?

Pretty much.

San Bernadino shooter Syed Farook was an American citizen, his wife was a permanent resident.

Malik reportedly had become very religious in the years before the attack, wearing both the niqab and burqa while urging others to do so as well. Pakistani media reported that Malik had ties to the radical Red Mosque in Islamabad, but a cleric and a spokesman from the mosque vehemently denied these claims, saying that they had never heard of Malik before the shooting. Malik's estranged relatives say that she had left the moderate Islam of her family and had become radicalized while living in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Interior Ministry spokesman Al-Turki rejected this claim, stating that Saudi officials received no indication that Malik was radicalized while living there.

Chattanooga shooter Mohammad Abdulazeez was a naturalized American citizen living in the US since the age of 6.

After his 2014 visit to Jordan, Abdulazeez told friends that Jordan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia ought to have sent more help to Hamas during the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict. They also noted a change in his behavior and that he made critical statements against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)

Curtis Culwell Center attacker Nadir Soofi was an American citizen from Dallas. Elton Simpson was from Westmont, Illinois.

Both radicalized and both extremely stupid thinking they could drive to an event to terrorize and shoot up people at an anti-muhammad art exhibition in Texas of all places, I mean, what were they thinking?! The mosque Simpson attended has been part of previous terrorism probes in the past.

Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan was an American citizen from Arlington County, Virginia.

Hasan was investigated by the FBI after intelligence agencies intercepted at least 18 e-mails between him and Anwar al-Awlaki between December 2008 and June 2009. al-Awlaki was a major influence on radical English-speaking jihadis internationally, and contact with him by an American officer would naturally raise concerns.

In one of the e-mails, Hasan wrote al-Awlaki: "I can't wait to join you" in the afterlife. Hasan also asked al-Awlaki when jihad is appropriate, and whether it is permissible if innocents are killed in a suicide attack.[65] In the months before the shooting, Hasan increased his contacts with al-Awlaki to discuss how to transfer funds abroad without coming to the attention of law authorities. In October 2008, Charles Allen, US Undersecretary of Homeland Security for Intelligence and Analysis, had warned that al-Awlaki "targets US Muslims with radical online lectures encouraging terrorist attacks from his new home in Yemen"

Little Rock recruiting station shooter Abdulhakim Muhammad, or Carl Leon Bledsoe, was an American citizen from Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2007, Muhammad traveled to visit Yemen, where he stayed 16 months. He worked as an English teacher and learned how to speak Arabic. While there, in September 2008 he married Reena Abdullah Ahmed Farag, an elementary school teacher from South Yemen

Carl Leon Bledsoe According to officials with the New York City Police Department, Abdulhakim Majahid Muhammad, a/k/a Carl Leon Bledsoe, converted to Islam as a teenager. Prior to the attack and homicide, the FBI had initiated an investigation of Muhammad following his return to the US from Yemen. According to the intelligence report -- based on the FBI report and a post-incident interview of Muhammad -- he was arrested in Yemen for carrying a false passport. Subsequently he studied "Jihad" with a Yemeni Islamic scholar.

Almost all of the assailants listed in the New York Post's article were American citizens. In the context of this discussion, namely whether Trump's imbecilic blanket ban will make America safer, your emphatic "W-w-What?!?" is ridiculous.

So while all of these people were American citizens, one thing that stands out is that you keep hearing Yemen over and over again and Saudi Arabia (which should also be on the ban list) I think and hope that the Trump admin. can infiltrate the Mosques that have a history of inciting jihadism and prevent future attacks like that from happening in the near future.

The original statement stands. Obama did keep us safe from any foreign terrorists for 8 years, without an all-country ban.

Not good enough, I would go a step further and say that Obama on his little apology tour made it easier for Jihadists to come into this country to spread jihadism and allowing the radicals to think in the countries that Trump banned that they have always a green light, given the connections these homegrown domestic jihadists had to Yemen, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, it has become more apparent that Trump should push an aggressive and vigorous vetting policy.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

My country is on the list with apparently three unreported terroristattack. Two of them had absolutely nothing to do with Islamic State (one shot after a cop because he was caught dealing drugs), and the third was wildly reported with three casualties. In short, this list is crap. He has just compiled something he can vaguely use to justify his crazy policies. This man is a joke.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

More alternative facts, people. But out of respect for the dead at Bowling Green, we should not talk about it anymore while waiting for it to happen. A whole lot of attacks will happen on Trump's watch, especially with Bannon waiting for the "fourth turning" and the coming apocalypse, which he's excited about. It'll be entirely they'll fault but they'll blame it on everyone else.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

If we are tired of seeing stories about the Trump administration, the solution is simple.

ignore them.

Ignore them here.

Do not comment. Bet you can't. Try, just for 1 week.

Ignore them everywhere else too.

Sure, Dr. Ben Carson!

Ah, Dr. Carson. He's sort of a half-vaccer - he doesn't believe those nuts who say vaccines cause autism; he just doesn't believe the science regarding dosage and timing. I'm no doctor, so maybe he's right; still, I'd put my money on the other 99% of doctors who believe he's wrong. Perhaps he was simply trying to reconcile his medical and political leanings - medicine changes slowly, but ideology is fleeting. Still trust him to be your doctor?

It's hard to tell sometimes if Trump is a senile old fool a hair's breadth away from getting into the news because he yelled at a cloud, or a calculating if shameless despot plotting a strategy of outraging as many people as often as possible until they get so sick of being outraged that he can do whatever he wants without pushback.

Oh, it's not that hard!

While some media outlets are slowly learning to fight back, far, far too many are meekly submitting to his antics. A good first step would be calling out his lies directly. A better second step would be banning all the Russian bots that plague news social media.

Some terror incidents are strangely on Trump's list, like the Paris, Nice, San Bernardino, Orlando, etc.

Not only are those extensively covered but at times felt it's being covered too much, i.e. the news would be talking about the same incident for hours and hours on end

Trump says media doesn't want to report extremist attacks

No, the media doesn't want to be complicit in this fraud the so-called President is attempting to perpetrate on the American people with wholly fabricated accounts of a Muslim terrorist hiding under every bed and behind every door, waiting for just the right moment to strike, presumably just as he was presciently about to issue the ban. What a load of bullocks.

This "national security" Trump cites as justification for his man-tantrum ban on Muslims is nonexistent in terms of actionable intelligence. And this claim of an underreported slew of extremist attacks is as fraudulent and untrue as he is as a viable president.

The drumbeat towards impeachment goes on, but with a slighter faster tempo...

Laguna,

Trump rails against the media but it's clear to me he manipulates them incredibly well by getting them to focus on his dumb comments instead of other things. There were worldwide protests when he was inaugurated yet he had the world media fixating about his insane claims of attendance.

Speaking of guns did you see how the GOP slipped through a bill on dropping background checks for mentally ill people? You're quite right to mention it, Americans killing each other is by far the issue and it is aided and abetted by the GOP and the NRA. One is now a certified hated group, but both should be considered supporters of terrorism.

Maybe the insane crowd currently occupying the Whitehouse are trying to fire up extremists to carry out attacks on US soil to achieve their agenda. It makes sense. Trump has already added a screaming caveat to this effect on Twitter saying that should any attacks happen it will be the fault of judges blocking his ill-thought out and quite frankly insane orders.....

Scary times ahead.

Just don't get captured. He doesn't respect those types.

Americans killed by terrorist attacks since 9/11 have averaged six per year on a generous scale; in the meantime, well over 250,000 have been killed be Americans with guns. Priorities: a red-blooded American puts pullets through a dozen people and it fades after a week; a couple of numbnuts do nothing and it morphs into the "Bowling Green Massacre." As a check: would you trust anyone in Trump's cabinet to be your doctor?

So that's why he fired two of his top general advisers and said that ISIS was a JV team?

Another attempt by Trump and Bannon, masters of marketing and scaremongering, to manipulate the media to try to get them to keep fear alive, to make America REALLY fear again.

No doubt Breitbart, Murdoch's global outlet, the numerous other Trump-backing right wing news outlets and many corporate media outlets will help in Trump and his fellow Republican's quest to justify spending even more on the military. (The world's filled with bad hombres, after all.)

Is their aim to eventually invade another country? Will the world see a 21st century version of the sinking of the Maine to justify it?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The man outdoes himself every day with his lies and nonsense. Does he really think he is fooling anybody? Out in the world, people have internet, have TV, and even in some cases still have newspapers! Trump must wish he had a Chinese or N Korean style grip on info sources, then he might be able to get away with outrageous drivel like this.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Bah the media need to stop mentioning this fool. Starve him of his oxygen . There's at least 5 articles in the JT world news section today, even W Bush at his stupidest didn't receive such attention.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

The president did not immediately offer evidence to support his claim

At this point it might be easier to just add a symbol, like an asterisk, to Trump's claims when they have no evidence and are not verified. It will save a lot of room in the articles since the media often has to remind people that Trump's making another unsubstantiated claim.

“You’ve seen what happened in Paris and Nice. All over Europe it’s happening."

This is a common theme from the afraid crowd. But Europe is not the US. Europe had millions of refugees arrive on their doorstep without any notice. Europe also has a much greater problem with minority integration, although Trump and the GOP are trying their best to marginalize them into the same situation here. But at the end of the day it isn't remotely the same and it's being used exclusively as a fear tactic to force bad decisions.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

This is silly. The media of all stripes LOVES to report mass shootings or other forms of atrocity. DT will end up shooting himself in the foot which he will then have to take out of his mouth if he goes down this path. and the media will then report on it.

Thank you, Steve Bannon.

Yet Team Trump wants to ignore, it seems, the threat of violent extremism:
