Kind of late to now think of cutting waste in a more efficient way. With the amount of people's lives affected, money spent in firing and then trying to rehire them, and fear stoked, any other CEO caught running a company in such a way would be fired immediately. This kind of haphazard actions would even get elected officials impeached.

CNN's Harry Enten was surprised by "shocking" poll data showing that a majority of Americans support Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) spending cuts to the federal government on Thursday.

According to the CBS/YouGov poll, 54% believe that Musk and DOGE should have at least some influence over government spending and operations. After weeks of anti-DOGE protests and pushback from Democrats, the CNN data reporter was shocked to see that the majority of Americans support DOGE's efforts to cut government spending. Not only did the poll show majority support for Musk and DOGE's influence on government spending, it also showed that a majority approved of President Donald Trump trying to cut staff at government agencies.

A Washington Post/IPSOS poll of registered voters showed that 42% believe that DOGE is cutting "wasteful" spending, while only 36% believe that the department is cutting "necessary programs.

Down the road, I look forward to the polls on how the public feels about the government paying hugely to settle lawsuits from the unjustly fired workers, plus hiring many of them back in the inevitable flailing to staunch self-created crises.

35 percent say it [DOGE] should be reduced or eliminated.

That's the worse rating of about 25 different Govt departments. The National Park Service and VA and Consumer Protection Agency should be expanded, according to the same poll.

Musk and Trump are getting so many of their cuts wrong, according to the most recent polls.

Trump needs to distance himself from Musk - BTW, when will Musk meet federal law conflict of interest laws and either quit Govt work or sell all his personal holdings? Musk has huge conflicts of interest - well, so does Trump, but the MAGA crowd don't seem to think Trump's conflicts are important enough. So sad.
