Trump wanted a yes man for DNI and no doubt he's got one.

Well, it's ONLY national security, so what could possibly go wrong?

Coats ... downplayed his lobbying work

Anyone still believe Trump is draining the swamp?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Curious that Trump chose a lobbyist and long term DC politician; I recall him saying something about draining the swamp.

Or was he just kidding, being sarcastic, perhaps taken out of context. It's early days but he seems to be building a mighty murky swamp filled with good ol' boys from all the various big bogs.

How's that wall coming along?

yes Mr Trump, no Mr Trump, yes Mr Trump, no Mr Trump. How high shall I jump Mr Trump?

If Mr. Trump Really wants to Make America Great again , he's sure taking the Wrong Road as far as Cabinet posts go- These Billionaires have Absolutely No connection to the average american outside of Fleecing them BLIND!

Hopefully this will be a lesson well learned that won't ruin us all in the meantime.

People were swayed by divisive rhetoric, questionable data and statements, diversion tactics against the opposition all the while ignoring everyone screaming all around the US and the world. You say you want better for the every person on the street, the suffering middle class and then vote for the exact opposite. Someone who had barely any policy information "its going to be so great, Im the greatest" doesn't count, someone who before even entering office is causing international issues, someone who has routinely put their own interests over the greater good, someone who is now populating important positions with people of the same ilk, with dubious international business ties and most with the kind of lobbying and special interest backgrounds most say they want away from politics..

Its just madness.

His wife, a senator, said it is a real chance for Jesus to influence Trump.

He just left out the bit about refilling it.

@Simon

Hah!

Still, you've got to give the bloke environmental credit for his concern for leaving nature as he found it....

At this point we just play the Benny Hill theme song and watch this clown car also known as the Trump Administration unfold while shaking our heads and laughing out loud..

Joe Biden said an unclassified version will be released next week and will show evidence that the Russians tried to hurt Democrat Hillary Clinton -- article

But, but, but... while Mrs. Clinton chose to hang out with her celeb friends in Martha's Vineyard rather than hit the campaign trail in August, her Super Pac, aka, the radical alt left media, did her heavy work by repeating the mantra that "Trump has no path to 270" all the way up to Election Day.

Instead of the Russian hacking fake news angle, an investigation needs to be conducted into the American elitist media's collusion to drag her head first across the finish line like the video of the SS tossing her into the Scooby Van like a bag of potatoes on 9/11 (seen it 100 times and it still makes me laugh). . . . .

Trump Traitors are now defending Assange. What's up with that? Their journey to the Dark Side is complete.

We may have to put up with the Trump train-wreck for a few years but it's nice to know that Julian Assange, newly crowned darling of the alt-right crazies and generqlly creepy guy, will spend the rest of his natural life in misery hiding from his own silly reality show gone wrong.

Actually, a silly reality show gone wrong sums up Trump's candidacy altogether. And it becomes more illegitimate with each passing day.

@burningb When they say Russia, do they mean ethnic Russian people,

Good question.

All sorts of tropes including metaphor and synecdoche are used to express meaning and sometimes provide linguistic camouflage to cloak it. Words connote and denote. A word in my dialect (and ideolect) may be understood differently from how you understood it.

Journalists in all media have different reasons for wording an article the way they do. Some readers may think an article was part of a grand plot to misinform and manipulate, some may say it was bang on true, others may say it was clever or stupid or whatever; each person who reads the article sees it their own way. Some people think critically when they read, others just knee jerk react. There's a range of ways to respond to anything written.

Individual readers interpret any piece of writing according to their own weltanschauung. By JT allowing us to post and express our own opinions on how we perceived an article, we see how many different ways there are to understand it.

I'm not trying to be pedantic or patronizing.

Texas A and Amp. A couple things. Calling the media elitist is confusing. If I were call anyone elitist, it would be billionaires. Let's say that you think the media is leftist. Meaning..what..pro union, pro higher wages, pro social programs, pro choice? How is that elitist? And have you forgotten the behavior of the f.b.i. Director at the end of the election? The republicans are very corporation minded. They become corporate lobbyists when they leave D.C., and support deregulation. Look what they're up o in the first daus of office. The media tends to report on corporate pollution and employees who are injured at work due to poor standards. Who else would? Who do you thing really runs the show around here? Ask General Electric....Westinghouse, the military lobby.... I have Never met someone who does not play the system in this country. Republican or democrat. Anyone who starts getting close to the piles of cash the government takes in...well, the rest is human nature. As HAL said in 2001, "Put the unit in and let it fail." Good old HAL. He had faith in the system. Of course, he was the system.

"Trump wanted a yes man for DNI and no doubt he's got one. "

You must have missed this: "Coats was a harsh critic of Russia and pushed the Obama administration to harshly punish Moscow for its annexation of Crimea in 2014. When the White House levied sanctions, the Kremlin responded by banning several lawmakers, including Coats, from traveling to Russia."

"How's that wall coming along?"

That slacker Obama is still president, the wall hasn't got started yet, lol.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The wall (if it actually happens) will be paid for by the American taxpayer. More trillions on the national debt just like all those wars you cheered on back in the day when you were a die-hard Bush lover, serrano.

How is that swamp draining working out for ya? Heh, the actors change but the Denial remains.

"The wall (if it actually happens) will be paid for by the American taxpayer. More trillions on the national debt"

It won't cost trillions, the Mexicans can't afford that much anyway, lol.

"How is that swamp draining working out"

We'll see after Jan.20, won't we?

Congress looks to start building Mexican border wall within months, with U.S. taxpayer funds

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-trump-congress-mexico-border-wall-20170105-story.html

I'm sure in Republiworld this will be Obama's fault too.

The Republican party is insane.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Serrano: "We'll see after Jan.20, won't we?"

Actually, we've already seen Trump renege on most of his campaign promises, so there's no need to 'wait and see', although I think you guys like to hold off on reality sinking in for as long as you can. I mean, didn't Trump vow during the election to release Election Hacking Details? Didn't he promise us a plan as an alternative to Obama care? Oops! Nope, not at all. And now people like yourself, who called for Assange's head, love the guy.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Don't forget his tax returns, Smith.

Heh, like Don the Con is ever going to release his murky financial dealings that show how far into debt he is with Putin and the Chinese....

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I saw that, Madverts. I was surprised that Trump folded so quickly. Mexico said NO and Trump said OK, we will pay for it. And I guess that was it.

It was fake news!

... “The dishonest media does not report that any money spent on building the Great Wall (for sake of speed), will be paid back by Mexico later!” he wrote on Twitter. ...

Oh yes, he said on Twitter. It must be a done deal, then. What does Mexico have to say? They're in complete agreement, I suppose?

Were SuperLib and I discussing anything other than Trump's twitter comments? You one of those people complaining 'Trump was elected two months ago! Why hasn't he parted the seas yet like Obama did???'?

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

"Trump Traitors are now defending Assange. What's up with that? Their journey to the Dark Side is complete."

Yeah! That evil Assange putting out fake news on Hillary's "corruption!" I find the lack of faith among Trump supporters on Hillary's benevolence disturbing!

Oh my...

That front gonna flare up again
