Trump suggests revoking credentials of reporters over 'fake news'

So the orange man baby wants reporters who only writes positive things about him, that’s kind of an impossibility!

Here's a thought...stop doing stuff that makes for negative stories. Instead of ignoring Puerto Rico's on-going crisis, fix it. Instead of allowing corrupt officials like Pruitt and Zinke to stay, fire 'em. Instead of pretending to be president, resign. You'll get tons of positive press.

Fake news is 1 thing, but true, negative news about a sitting President is completely different. It isn't fake.

And every time President Trump or his legal counsel are caught lying isn't fake new either. It is real news. There is a simple solution - stop lying.

The world's littlest dictator is throwing his toys out of the pram because some reporters accurately reported on his incompetence. Funny how just yesterday the usual suspects were here claiming the US to be the country with the most freedom on Earth, even as ole' Prez spanky threatens to violate the 1st Amendment.

What may get lost here though, is Trumpy openly admitting that he calls news "fake" just because it reflects poorly on him.

Revoking credentials of people who report negatively on him??.... textbook actions of a budding tyrant and dictator...

This is how tyrants operate. But it doesn't happen in a vacuum, they gather the people up in a wave of nationalism. Demonise the press, foreigners and political opponents.

I remember after the inauguration thinking how much damage could Trump really do.

This type of action is exactly the sort of thing we need to guard against. Whether I agree with all the talking heads or not, this is one degree from muzzling unfavorable press.

Trump and the Republicans continue to undermine the cornerstones of the remaining bits of American democracy, doing what they can to ensure US corporations and the .01% have even greater control over the country.

While Trump’s providing all sorts of distractions to cover his criminal past, he and the GOP are weakening the judiciary and law enforcement so they have fewer ways to check potential illegal activities, trying to restrict media from reporting anything critical of the GOP and the corporations that sponsor Republican politicians, weakening environmental protections, weakening consumer protections, and weakening worker’s rights.

Heard all about Stormy Daniels lawyer yesterday, right?

The Right wing whiners, with their obvious limitations, dont understand the basic concept that the more famous you are the more new worthy you will be. Call it free market of journalism or call it whatever. Stormy's lawyer represents a porn star(whom most of you love to degrade), Cohen represented (Trump confirmed it on the interview aboard the plane) the President, so its obvious who will get reported more. Its no bias, its just what is newsworthy.

If Stormy's lawyer slept with her and paid her a million dollars, nobody would care. But because Trump did it with the most bizarre excuses, people take notice.

That would be the logical thing for a normal person with a shred of dignity and integrity to do but ... we are talking about an Individual who has demonstrated time after time that he is definitely not one who has those qualities.

Dangerous times, the disease of nationalism is spreading. Threats to journalists are increasing. Journalists are being made out to be the enemy and in some parts of the world, being murdered.

I don't know which country you're from, but the US has long had partisan press. In the 18th century Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson complained about it.

I hope you're not suggesting placing limitations of any kind on a feee, for-profit press. The US has laws against slander and libel. Let the courts and the markets decide what's permitted. Or are you anti-capitalist?

But there is today, and by using it you can access who knows how many sites reporting just about every perspective possible. 

There is, always has been, and probably always will be bias of some sort in reporting. As long as what's reported isn't deemed to be illegal, let the markets decide.

And maybe if Trump doesn't want negative publicity, he shouldn’t allow people like Guiliani and others who crave media attention to push for more exposure. 

By constantly attacking free, for-profit media, are you advocating for a state controlled media like Russia has? If you’re an American advocating for something you call ‘fair’ and/or ‘unbiased’, you should know that those terms are defined differently by individuals.

The idea is to avoid purposeful bias if you want to call yourself a “journalist”.

That's your opinion. Words connote; definitions can be in the mind of the user. I want to be free to choose to read all 'journalists', regardless of their political beliefs, regardless how they interpret and report an event.

For-profit media should be free to present information however they want. Let the courts decide if they've broken laws, let the markets decide their financial success.

I think Trump is genuinely offended that the press isn’t there’s to advance his presidency. He’s never really had a grasp of the checks and balances thing, even on a very basic level.

For example this is biased to focus only on Stormy and Cohen while avoiding Schneiderman questions that need answering. The idea is to avoid purposeful bias if you want to call yourself a “journalist”.

Yet these news organizations need to take a long hard look at why they cant send non partisan reporters to the daily briefing. the typical question is biased from the beginning, used to make a partisan point, then with a "you are a liar if dont you agree with me" on the end.

Its manipulation of the market. Because every commercial on every program is for Coca Cola, people are not allowed to understand that there is something called Pepsi, which is actually superior (in my opinion).

Heard all about Stormy Daniels lawyer yesterday, right? did you also hear he owes 5 million dollars in taxes, is being investigated by the DOJ for illegally obtaining bank documents, owes 100s of thousand of dollars to small business owners for coffee orders he didnt pay for. Most importantly, at least 2 of the payments he said Michael Cohen got were a DIFFERENT Michael Chohen? (this again). So Cohen filed in court to bar that lawyer from the case for his criminal acts and false statements.

Nah from liberal media, you just heard....Stormy...Cohen....Russia! why is that? What happened to Schneiderman? was in the news for like 12 hours, then poof! gone!

Its not just fake news, its the crime of omission, where the liberal media just refuses to talk about things that dont fit their narratives.

Administration officials can now use Periscope, YouTube, or other social media to connect directly with the people so they no longer need the corporate media as a filter or medium. They should dissolve the White House press pool.
