Just give them free health care, free GOOD education, and a liveable minimum wage. That's better than sending them to the moon

I wonder if this is because he is one of those nuts that believes the moon landings were fake. Or because he wants to make sure that the earth is actually round or not.

I agree with this. Space programs have been far too neglected, and need to be at the forefront of future research

Look over the last 8 years we lost our standing when it comes to space exploration and it’s embarrassing that we have to pay the Russians anywhere between $2-10 million per astronaut to hitch a ride to the space station. It’s time we get our independence back and regain our status as a leader is space exploration.

@Aly - I agree with much of what you say. My cousin's health insurance is not above $2k per month after passage of the ACA. In some places in Florida it is approaching $40k a year for a family. I think alot of middle class families would agree with you! I would like the money to be spent on things to make Americans' lives better. The U.S. universities are still really good but K-12 is suffering. There are alot of inner city schools that can use help.
On the other hand as has been pointed out above, alot of technology and things we take for granted today are a product of space programs.
Tough call and we are in different times then when JFK was President

Was W's plan also but was then scrapped.
I'm all for it.
New technologies to be researched, then Mars.
Problem would be the budget.

Good on Trump. He got this one right.

As long as we keep the scientists out of it, it should be easy. They are the ones that made it cost so much last time with all their picky details to be resolved, and everyone knows science is all fake anyway. Heck, if a cow can jump over the moon a man with better hand-eye coordination ought to be able to hit it rather than jumping over it, and Trump has already accomplished much more than Kennedy, so this is no problem.

Thanks for the support! And great post by the way

That's a bit harsh, Donald. Does that include the poor souls who voted for you?

Right choice, but I doubt he made it for the right reasons nor does he have the slightest interest in follow-through to actually make it happen. Remember, Trump also promised Republican support for the LGBT and a health care system that covers everyone. And we all know where those ideas went.
My personal guess is that he heard some other people were talking about Mars and decided he wanted the credit, so he announced that we were "doing it", all while leaving the execution to someone else who didn't sleep through their university physics classes. It's the kind of leadership you could expect from a 10-year-old, just with a little fewer dinosaurs and a little more creepily harassing women.

So Trump believes in NASA's expertise, after all. NASA, btw, has data that supports climate change and global warming.
