“Since the speaker has chosen to tear this nation apart with her actions and her rhetoric, the president will not participate in moments where she so often chooses to drive discord and disunity," spokesman Judd Deere said in an emailed statement.

Not surprising that Trump, a male who's never accepted responsibilities for problems he himself has created, is blaming someone else.

Not surprising that as he and his political backers continue their efforts to further undermine the democratic principles assured by the republic's constitution he continues to further fracture the nation into 'sides', the usual tactic of despots attempting to divide and conquer. He portrays those who question him as enemies. Every despot needs to have enemies to keep his followers riled up against them.

It's a leaders job to unite - not fracture. It's the opposition's role to challenge the leader, not kowtow to him. But then Trump's never understood the role of a president nor what all the US Constitution includes.
