. I think Duterte is a thug, I don't agree at all with his methods, but putting that aside, he's cleaning up, that's a fact,

That is not a fact. That is an assertion made by Duterte, but there is no proof that the he is "cleaning up."

now if Trump wants to congratulate him on that, he's free to do so

I never claimed otherwise, but why would Trump praise a man responsible for cold-blooded murder? Oh yeah, because he idolizes dictators and tough guys.

Trump tends to get submissive around strong-arm leaders.

I wonder what the response would be if Trump sent in extrajudicial squads into poor, urban areas to murder thousands in the US? Hypothetical, I realise but it would be cheered on, wouldn't it? It's got to the stage where the boundaries between right and wrong are dissolving.

And yet, the people that actually oppress and tear countries apart, remain in power and prey on the people.

Two vile, sickening "leaders". They deserve each other and they deserve the downfall that's coming their way.

Duterte is a murderous unstable thug who seems to take pleasure watching his citizens die regardless of whether or not they are actually guilty.

Someday he'll meet his end in a similar fashion.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

There is no proof that he's not either.

Pardon? Throwing people out of a helicopter is cleaning the place up? Choking a man with your bare hands is cleaning the place up? The bodies littering the streets are proof he ain't cleaning up. Unless, of course, extra-judicial executions are your thing.

If you really think he's a thug, why even argue this one? What's the point? "Yeah, he's a thug, but he's cleaning the place up, doesn't wash."

Especially considering his son was implicated in smuggling $125 million in drugs.

the left can jump to conclusions, that's what they do.

Like when you write,

I seriously doubt he praises the man in that form, probably more admires that he is tough on lawlessness, I would assume.

Is that what you mean by "liberals jumping to conclusions?"

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Why? Clearly the us is a poor example of a Nation that respects human rights. Prime examples? All wars since the second world war. A very dark kettle meeting an equally dark pot!!!

Extrajudicial killings and vigilantism scare me. And as they're usually aimed at poor people; it's even more worrying. There are a lot of hypotheticals that alarm me; the "lock and load" and "destroy North Korea" or "nuke West Coast cities" and so on.

The hypotheticals end with Duterte's monsterous record. This is a man, complicit in murder, ordering thousands of other deaths, advocating rape and all the time with that entitled attitude, which is at odds with his "man of the people" carefully cultivated image.

Historically, American Republican Presidents have embraced dictators, even to the point of assisting in the overthrow of democratically elected governments in order to install anti-communist dictators, so long as the dictators did not nationalize the property of Western corporations.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How is it possible that Americans elected a man who blithely praises these murders and the despot who institutionalized them?

Trump never met a dictator he did not want to coddle, or is it fondle? With Republicans I keep getting confused.

Sexual assaulting Hollywood-ers and politicians can't hold a candle to Duterte

Well if this psycho would call the Pope a son of a who're, why should a president be treated any differently?

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Trump doesn't criticize authoritarians because they're his role models. He aspires to be like them. Were it not for his idiocy, short attention span, and disinterest in details, he'd probably succeed.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

This week, he boasted that he murdered a man with his own hands.

Trump said 'I could shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters'

And these psychos are leaders of nations

I agree that it's a bit hypocritical for US leaders to be going too far in rebuking other nations on human rights, so I don't have a problem with Trump not going out of his away to rebuke authoritarian leaders. But I do have a problem with him going out of his way to praise them and express admiration in his tweets and public statements.

Trumps nearly as bad as Duterte in action and word, so naturally he supports the man and won't bring up any of his misdeeds.

It is none of any other country's business in my book... especially when just about every other country in the world has problems and inequalities of their own. Too many times in history there have been wars to "liberate", and they mainly turned out to be bloodbaths that achieved little in the end. Let the Philippines handle their own business.

Doubt no more, read it for yourself.

I just wanted to congratulate you because I am hearing of the unbelievable job on the drug problem,” he said. “Many countries have the problem, we have a problem, but what a great job you are doing and I just wanted to call and tell you that.”

-Trump

Keep in mind Duterte's solution to the drug problem is vigilante murder.

Yup, so other countries should stop sending financial aid to Philippines as well as they don't want to take part helping to fund these Extra judicial killings. Let the filipinos wipe each other out without foreign tax payers funding it.

Trump understands Philippine is not US territory. He is behaving better. He will be back safely. Maybe he had better food than hamburgers in Philippine.

Philippine is a growing country. Hope Trump will be able to create nicer trade relation. Then Philippine people do not have to depend on drug business.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Philippine is one of Southeast Asia's rapid growing countries. Trump is going to create better business relationship with the country.

Manila is beautiful city. Hope Trump enjoyed Asian trip... ,

Hhhhe was too busy t enjoy his tour. But Asians know he did try to be friendly witthb Asia.

“My name is Uncle Sam, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”

Will you cast the first stone against Chicago's Englewood or Riverdale neighborhoods? Human rights violations galore, murder on the streets.

Manila will have its drug-infested slums, tough problems to deal with.

Would President Trump really be in a position to pontificate?

I don’t usually agree with you on much, but on this you are 100% right.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Prime examples? All wars since the second world war.

and all wars before that.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Pardon? Throwing people out of a helicopter is cleaning the place up? Choking a man with your bare hands is cleaning the place up? The bodies littering the streets are proof he ain't cleaning up. Unless, of course, extra-judicial executions are your thing.

He said those things and then he also said, he was joking, I’m not defending the guy, but there’s no way any of us can verify his claims. Now if you ask me do I think this guy is a piece of work, sure I do, but I won’t outright say he did it without proof.

If you really think he's a thug, why even argue this one? What's the point? "Yeah, he's a thug, but he's cleaning the place up, doesn't wash."

Well, it does in a way, because I can’t do anything about it and neither can you.

Especially considering his son was implicated in smuggling $125 million in drugs

Sure, we can say then definitively that his son is a criminal gangster if he was indeed implicated for some crime.

Trumps nearly as bad as Duterte

Trump murdered people? That’s a very serious accusation to make, don’t you think?

in action and word, so naturally he supports the man and won't bring up any of his misdeeds.

Why would he do that on his home soil. If he did that, you would complain, he has not tact, if he doesn’t do it, he’s an idiot, so it really doesn’t matter what the Trump hate crowd thinks, whatever he does will never be accepted by the left haters and yet, they call themselves the party of tolerance. ROFL.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

If Trump does tell Duerte anything about what he should do, he will be criticized and people here will say its none of his business to involve himself in another country's business.

But if he doesnt he will be also criticized and stories will be made up that his silence on the issue means he is complicit in any abuses.

So knowing that. doesnt really matter if he does or doesnt say anything, the outcry will be the same.

I wonder what the response would be if Trump sent in extrajudicial squads into poor, urban areas to murder thousands in the US? Hypothetical, I realise but it would be cheered on, wouldn't it?

Wow! I’m just absolutely speechless on that one. You guys are reeeeeeally starting to scare me.

It's got to the stage where the boundaries between right and wrong are dissolving.

Hardly, at least not anymore.

There is no proof that he's not either.

I never claimed otherwise, but why would Trump praise a man responsible for cold-blooded murder? Oh yeah, because he idolizes dictators and tough guys.

I don't know and I don't rattle my head and look up at the ceiling at night or pace in my room in wonderment as to why, the left can jump to conclusions, that's what they do.

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

Trump never met a dictator he did not want to coddle, or is it fondle?

Why? There's no proof he said or idolized any dictator.

With Republicans I keep getting confused.

Many of us feel the same about the Dems.

Keep in mind Duterte's solution to the drug problem is vigilante murder.

That's Duterte, he believes that, he instructs his police and military to do it, has nothing to do with Trump, even IF Trump WERE to believe such a thing. I think Duterte is a thug, I don't agree at all with his methods, but putting that aside, he's cleaning up, that's a fact, now if Trump wants to congratulate him on that, he's free to do so. I don't think Trump has to hide his feelings one way or another, there are just that, personal feelings. The left really are a bored bunch that they have to worry about words constantly.
