I applaud Trump for taking up this challenge. The goal is greater than saving money. The goal is to avoid nuclear war altogether.

President Donald Trump said Thursday that he wants to restart nuclear arms control talks with Russia and China and that eventually he hopes all three countries could agree to cut their massive defense budgets in half.

While the reason does seem a bit misguided, this is the first Trump policy I can completely agree with. All countries should follow South Africa's example and completely dismantle their nuclear arsenal. We have countless of ways of murdering each other, no need to have thousands of doomsday devices in the pile.

Me too.

When asked what a "nuclear weapon" does, Trump responded; "Woosh...BANG...BOOM....Bing"....

This is fantastic news for every decent, sovereign country out there because it indicates that any settlement in Ukraine will be contingent upon a wider Eurasian (and beyond) rewiring of the security architecture - which is a key Putin demand.

Also indicative of how geared up the Russian economy is (i.e. not the USSR in late 80s) and any arms race would most likely be ruinous to the US economy in general.

Biden, to his eternal disgrace, spurned diplomacy and intentionally provoked wars as a neo-liberal warmongering democrat.

Engagement and diplomacy are a much cleverer way forward.

Good idea, Make the World Safer Again!

Denuclearize you first, clown!!..

It should be pointed out that the USA and Russia have 5,000+ nuclear warheads. China has 500 to 600 hundred. China is not "catching" up to those two in 5 or 6 years.

Most welcome initiative by the Trump administration.

Denuclearization does not mean zero nuclear weapons. Putin already has hypersonic missiles.

The Oreshnik streaks to its target at 10 times the speed of sound, or Mach 10, “like a meteorite,” and claimed it was immune to any missile defense system.

The US, China, Iran, and others also have them.

Many IRBMs achieve speeds of Mach 10. Nothing new there. Pershing II was there in the early 1980s but that system was removed from service by the INF (Intermediate Nuclear Forces) treaty.

Ukraine does not have the kinds of systems that can engage this missile but SM-3 Block 2 and Arrow III are specifically designed to defeat such weapons.

Trump got more on his plate ,lots of it is his own doing

Amazing that other preceding Democrat presidents did not take the initiative with this kind of peaceful, cost-saving proposal.

The Golden Age of America is here.

A great photo of the POTUS doing what he considers to be his presidential thing.

Trump may be trying to destroy America but he is right that there should zero arms reduction without China leading the way.

Still Putin's War and still unprovoked.

russia going to show us how little kids can be gainfully employed in the armament business?

This has nothing to do with Ukraine. Europe is already telling you what concessions you can expect it to make.
