Why did Trump try to have prosecutor Robert Mueller fired, until his lawyer threatened to resign?

Ya know, you've made some very sound arguments/opinions on here, but I think you're letting your emotions cloud your logic on this one. You seem to be reacting more and more to the what MSM is propogating, rather than looking at both sides.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Yikes. A lot of conservatives being slapped around with a lot of facts and logic today.

Not really, most of us are working and can't give an answer, but now that my day is over....

The "missing" texts have been found and will turn out to be another super sized nothing burger.

I am so utterly amazed at the superior insight that liberals seem to have into something they have never really seen. But if you make that kind of accusation, then that would mean Trump really has nothing to worry about at all, because this whole farce is a joke, talk to Mueller and be on your way. The dems don't have anything on Trump and the Repubs don't have anything on the Dems. Now I can relax with my Nestle quick.

Only no information conservatives believe this administrations narrative as espoused by the MSM that is fox.

When a liberal makes statements like that, it means, they are starting to get nervous. MSM? One cable news channel that leans a bit more conservative? Funny.

Have you seen one of Trump's depositions? "Oh, yeah, beautiful project, I did everything from start to finish, one of my best, controlling everything. Oh, that lease? Yeah, I don't know much about that lease...I think others said something to me about it...I probably saw it at the time, but I don't recall. Read this page? Uhhh....do I have to? It's really long. Do I really have to read it? I suppose I could, but, no, I just don't remember anything else about that."

My old man was like that and he even has light headed as he was at times, he had 3000 employees and managed them with the greatest of ease. Trump is ok, he got a clean bill of health from Obama's old doctor, so it's all good.

Yikes. A lot of conservatives being slapped around with a lot of facts and logic today.

Pointing out that the author of the nothing burger memo is a republican lapdog of Trump's, which means he cannot be credible according to the logic that Mueller's team is full of democrats and so are not credible. Eat the cake or have it.

Well they would also have to reopen the investigation days before the next election. Then you would listen to liberals complaining that the FBI was trying to help Trump. Oh, wait...

Now Starbucks is giving bonuses. Wow, if this keeps up second term is guaranteed. Who’s next? Toys “R” Us?

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Well they would also have to reopen the investigation days before the next election.

Don’t get ahead of yourself, the next presidential election is still three years out.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

interviewed by an agent that hates Democrats and a decision would already have been made to exonerate him two months ago.

Well they would also have to reopen the investigation days before the next election. Then you would listen to liberals complaining that the FBI was trying to help Trump. Oh, wait...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

As long as Trump gets the same deal Hillary got before her interview with the FBI I don’t see why not. But that would of course mean that he be interviewed by an agent that hates Democrats and a decision would already have been made to exonerate him two months ago.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yep. Its part of the, "Trump did something bad today so let's pick an irrelevant person not connected to the story and say they did something bad" response.

Works 100% of the time for those who wilt and run away from any credible defense of Trump.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Dollars to doughnuts this is a man so devoid of ethics that under oath he would lie blithely and with relish.

He’s not Hillary, so he should be good to go.

One liar isn’t another liar so no problem.

Watertight logic.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

unearthing his financial records

I can understand why you said this, and I think you know it could be devastating to your team captain. But Mueller has quite a wide scope. Must be annoying ne.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yeah, behind closed doors, and after signing some kind of non-binding agreement... and even then he still won't. You watch, he'll come up with an excuse when the time comes, and just say, "I'm president! and I don't have to!", then blame it on the Dems again.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Oh, the Nunes memo? I see.

While the right wingers are telling us a few texts insulting Trump is evidence of bias and corruption at the FBI, Nunes, a member of Trump's transition team, was the head of the House committee investigating Trump. He had to "recuse" himself after he was caught Ubering over to the White House, collecting information from Trump's team, then calling a press conference to present it, all without telling the committee he is leading. Into the Trump investigation. Which he heads.

I use quotes for "recuse" because although he has stepped away from the investigation, he still kept his power to veto any Democrat request for witnesses, effectively blocking them from calling anyone they want to talk to.

Now it appears Nunes saw some information and decided to write his own memo. Then he circulated it around and talked about it with the right wing press. And guess what? That's suddenly the next "new explosive bombshell that, if uncovered, will blow the lid off of everything." Just like the last dozen or so situations like that which never seem to pan out.

So he hasn't released the memo....I guess all we can do is speculate as to what's in it. Which is the goal, right? And, again, remember....a few texts about Trump is evidence of bias at the FBI, but this guy Nunes, literally working on behalf of Trump while investigating him, is A-OK.

Watch the Hannity video to show how this mindset is possible.

bass: Senile? Lol

Have you seen one of Trump's depositions? "Oh, yeah, beautiful project, I did everything from start to finish, one of my best, controlling everything. Oh, that lease? 6 ( +7 / -1 )

A 47 page dossier of salacious nonsense by a Democrat paid ex-spy based on paid Russians input: every word totally true.

Wolffs book: every word true, except the undetermined parts that can be proven false aren’t.

A 4 page memo by a current US Congressman based on documents he saw from the intelligence agencies: totally false.

5 months of missing texts from biased FBI agents: totally cool they were just paying around.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Dollars to doughnuts this is a man so devoid of ethics that under oath he would lie blithely and with relish.

He’s not Hillary, so he should be good to go.

Might not even believe he was actually lying, his distortion field is so skewed.

Hmmm....I think the left are distorted.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Haha what memo. Close your eyes really tight and all the corruption on your side might all just disappear. Or not.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Dollars to doughnuts this is a man so devoid of ethics that under oath he would lie blithely and with relish. Might not even believe he was actually lying, his distortion field is so skewed.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Why so they will. And they will do no more than other presidents' lawyers have done:

It's amazing how the left knows what will and what won’t be discussed. But I keep forgetting, liberals know everything, my bad.

provide advice (which Trump would be - but absolutely can't be relied upon to be - wise to follow), do their utmost to limit his exposure to legal consequences, etc. What they can't do is guarantee that he comes out unscathed.

So with that in mind in knowing that this Fars is a total witchhunt and the top is Shaun of the FBI are trying to get him out of office, I’m pretty sure he knows what’s at stake as does his legal council. Smarter than even the smartest minds on JT.

Clinton didn't, and Nixon didn't. There's only so much lawyers can do; their basic job is not to win as such but to give their client the best legal advice under the circumstances. Often, the circumstances are not good.

The way the upper echelon is trying to get another office, is the same way his legal counsel will try to make a win. Let’s see who comes out unscathed.

Er, yeah. Lawyers are the answer. It makes you wonder how anyone gets into legal trouble ever.

Worked for the Clinton’s

There's an appointment letter (which you should read some time), the purpose of which was to make clear what Mueller was appointed to do.

I did and unearthing his financial records and running astray wasn’t one of them. Both Napolitano and Turley have said this. Between them, they have over 70 years of law experience and knowledge, so I’ll trust them, but thanks.

I've seen rhe memo. Ur gonna be disappointed. Its actually not what repubs say it is. Believe me

I keep forgetting, you know more then the entire intelligence committee and the presidents lawyers and the FBI itself. You are indeed the go to guy for reference and counsel, a man of deep insight. ROFL

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

What memo?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

It'd be great if President Trump held the meeting with Mueller in the Oval Office,

It'd be great if I was had a billion dollars. Aint gonna happen.

leaked memo in his possession and invited C-Span to televise it from start to finish in prime time. . . .

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

If he answers questions he will do what he's done in the past, which is turn into a senile old man who just can't recall anything.

Senile? Lol Schumer is the Senile one, the man left the dreamers in the dust and time is running out for them, hope their alien cards are updated and their tickets ready and they brushed up on their Spanish.

I've said from the beginning Trump will probably walk. His sons....they are a different story.

You never know, if so, he’ll issue a pardon.

Too cute. So, let me get this straight, this is finally the one, the big memo that busts the DNC and the FBI,

From the way the GOP that have seen it reacted, I think so. Oh, and if it weren’t a big deal like the left try to make it out to be...lol...Shiff wouldn’t go on TV and say something so moronic that, it’s not good for the public to view as if this loon has the right to tell people what they can stomach or what they can’t.

yet GOP led congress still won't release the memo? hahahaha Hilarious. This memo release ends in GOP tears. Watch.

It’s coming, so be patient and be careful what you wish for.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

I watched Sean Hannity last night. If you guys want a peek into the mind of some posters here, watch the first few minutes.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yHJmIcgTAjg

It's endless conspiracies involving dozens if not hundreds of people. Every single group, agency, and person is somehow compromised, working for the deep state, twisted by the biased MSM, owned by the Clinton cabal, etc.

And if Trump walks, suddenly all this talk will just evaporate into thin air without any further investigation needed. Purge the FBI? Oh, yeah, we said something about that, but in other news...

5 ( +6 / -1 )

CNN and msnbc are silly outlets with partisans making shrill complaints. Waste of time.

No complaints here.

Trump is the president of the United States and can be triggered into fury - tweeting about a fictional sex tape in a late night cat fight. He has the nuclear codes.

I think liberals need to relax and release. ROFL

Great! You know I love history. I’m still dying to read the non-partisan books written by non-partisan historians claiming the Bush years were a success. Can you post their names?

When the mods let us talk about Bush extensively, sure.

Totally man. That's totally why he didn't release his taxes and totally why he said Mueller looking at his financials would be crossing a line. Totally above water, man ;)

Mueller was appointed to find out if there was any collusion between him and the Russians and not drifting into his finances, but you know what and to be honest, if the findings come out that he borrowed money from the Deutsche Bank and they are aligned with the Russians to help him finance a building, then he should be ok and this will blow over and people will forget it like the movie “Ishtar”

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Trump being interviewed by the FBI is a little scary in that it could trigger a civil war. Even if he gets caught out by saying something that totally incriminates himself, he’ll just claim it’s fake news and never admit it. His followers are fanatics that have essentially deified him and turned him into something to have faith in, rather than looking at him objectively, and they’ll follow him no matter what.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Which is the most realistic possibility.

Totally man. That's totally why he didn't release his taxes and totally why he said Mueller looking at his financials would be crossing a line. Totally above water, man ;)

When the memos will be finally released, you bet it’s going to be good....NO...great!

If you worry about honesty, tell CNN and msnbc that. But Jim, I’ll always be honest with you, so that should give you some comfort.

These are not good things to bring into the room when facing a competent investigator.

Competent, perhaps. Honest, that’s debatable.

Further, his residency has been marked by multiple attempts to tamper with the course of justice - which is unhideable. If questioned under oath about this, he can all too easily land himself in serious trouble.

If, thank God, his lawyers will be present every step of the way.

But let's fantasize a little, and pretend that he actually has nothing at all to hide.

Which is the most realistic possibility.

He'd still have to watch how he treads so that he doesn't say something that implicates his son-in-law or son in illegal activity such as money laundering or conspiracy.

Again, he has his lawyer dream team, so he should be fine.

This is going to be good get your popcorn.

When the memos will be finally released, you bet it’s going to be good....NO...great!

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

he could evoke "executive privilege" and ignore the subpoena

That Isa possible option

which he might get away with, but it would certainly lead to a titanic legal battle likely ending up in the Supreme Court (we're talking legal precedent) and

this would eat up all of his time (including "executive time," bury his legislative agenda, and turn his allies both in Congress and among the public against him.

I'm not sure, didn’t go so well for the las FBI witch hunt.

So, yes, being "glad to" shows that he retains at least marginal sanity (or at least a good team of lawyers).

Well, we shall see how this shakes up, once the 4 memos are released, let’s see how deep and dirty this investigation really and and who the players are. Then we can see how insane the Dems and the top officials of the FBI and DOJ are.

I just think the kind of person who posts rancid, petulant nonsense like this has a problem with his temper as well as honesty ( he denied this steaming crap on live TV ) and decency.

If you worry about honesty, tell CNN and msnbc that. But Jim, I’ll always be honest with you, so that should give you some comfort.

I don’t think Trump is particularly slippery. He will lie, look you in the face, and then deny telling the lie in the first place.

Doubt it, But he definitely ain’t got the lyin down like Hillary, she’s got that down cold!

He’s certainly not the ‘greased piglet’ Tony Blair. The fictional sex tape example I gave was a beauty.

Oh, please, anything will make news, even Rosie is still making news. LOL

He’ll have to be a bit more greasy than that. I can imagine him denying what he said 10 minutes earlier in the the interview and then accusing Mueller of engaging in fake news.

And this will blow over, and we can all get back down to business and the Dems will

try to conjure up something else. The porn star thing was funny though, I laughed a good 5 min.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

I wonder how seriously Trump takes "under oath"?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Darn, Fizz - you got all excited for nothing!

Seems that way. Or maybe someone showed him a picture of JFK.

But I'm patient. I just hope it brings both parties down. Trump will survive it.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Hehe I'm betting there's a queue to use the toilets in the Whitehouse right now.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

A couple weeks from now it will be, "I wanted to do it but my lawyers and advisers tell me that Mueller is part of a Deep State liberal conspiracy, which is why I am firing Mueller."

4 ( +4 / -0 )

but that other quality, of slipperiness, might be enough to get him through lol.

Rep. Ron Johnson (R-WI) told Fox News

Hee hee hee. That guy tells some doozies, and Fox is a great platform for him. He got it from that cryptic text exchange between those two forlorn FBI agents. Did he know what they meant?

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) on Wednesday walked back his comments claiming that there is a “secret society” among the Department of Justice and the FBI to undermine the Trump administration .... n Wednesday, however, Johnson claimed he did not know “what they meant”

Darn, Fizz - you got all excited for nothing!

A whistleblower has revealed to Congress that clandestine, offsite meetings between high ranking FBI and DOJ took place in which officials discussed ways to undermine President Trump after the 2016 election, Rep. Ron Johnson (R-WI) told Fox News on Tuesday.

This is treason.

I don't believe anything the lying MSM says.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now this is getting interesting. Too bad AFP left it out of the article.....gee...I wonder why?

Release the memo!

Rosie???

No. The woman in question was called Alicia. This is the appalling trash Trump posted - it goes without saying it was a lie:

“Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?”

I just think the kind of person who posts rancid, petulant nonsense like this has a problem with his temper as well as honesty ( he denied this steaming crap on live TV ) and decency.

The trash could reach critical mass under pressure. The explosion could be quite a sight.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What is all this about Russia I think they should be checking about the Israeli connection

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

He will never, ever testify under oath to Mueller or anyone in his committee.

EVPO (great moniker!), this is how it comes down.

Trump could accept Mueller's "invitation" - and he should because

if he refuses the "invitation," Mueller will subpoena him, in which case

he could evoke "executive privilege" and ignore the subpoena

which he might get away with, but it would certainly lead to a titanic legal battle likely ending up in the Supreme Court (we're talking legal precedent) and

this would eat up all of his time (including "executive time," bury his legislative agenda, and turn his allies both in Congress and among the public against him.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

With all of the crap floating around lately it is hard to trust either side. The latest allegations against the FBI are pretty damning. As I have always thought...criminals on both sides...

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Hey, if he talks to Mueller of course he’ll keep his cool and don’t worry, his lawyers will all be present, so nothing to fear.

Then why isn't he testifying before the grand jury? Why the need for attorneys?

Why not testify on live TV? It would be great ratings. Better than OJ.

You are just full of false bravado.

There is always something to fear when talking to prosecutors.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Wonder what those 4 page memos will tell us,

The lickspittle Nunes isn't sharing it with anyone because not sharing is the purpose.

That is exactly what they are meant to do for you, wonder, develop theories, and distract. Looks like the sheep are taking the bait. When did the GoP become so unable to think?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

No problems with holding his temper? No problems with a thin skin? No problems with being triggered?

Hey, if he talks to Mueller of course he’ll keep his cool and don’t worry, his lawyers will all be present, so nothing to fear.

Early morning cat fights on Twitter with a beauty queen asking his followers to check out a fictional sex tape?

Rosie???

Clearly not the coolest head around. He can’t just shoot from the backside here.

Better than most Democrats.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Why not, when you have nothing to hide, go for it, he should.

Not the advice an attorney would give.

Best advice is don't talk, simple. It doesn't matter if you have nothing to hide or not.

Everything said will be used against you, and everything said in your defense will not count.

Notice how he is avoiding the grand jury where he can't assert the fifth or have his attorneys with him.

"I would love to do it," Trump told reporters in the White House when asked about testifying. "I would like to do it as soon as possible... subject to my lawyers and all of that.

"I would do it under oath, absolutely," he added.

This is another hollow Trump boast and lie. Notice the qualification, "subject to my lawyers and all that."

Trump lawyers will only let him testify to pre-agreed upon questions with responses that can be written by his attorneys, and they will not allow his responses to be subject to cross examination. He is too dumb for his attorneys to allow him to testify in front of Mueller and his team. Those prosecutors are the best in America, and they will not sit idly and accept his lies and hyperbole, like his supporters.

There has been a lot of legal wrangling behind the scenes, which will come out over the next two or three weeks. Trump and his cabal have been trying to limit testimony by others by claiming often vague and inapplicable privileges (executive, attorney client, etc), and there is no reason to expect Trump himself to be the only one willing to openly testify now.

These are just more Trump lies from a habitual liar.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Naw, the President should be cool as a cucumber.

No problems with holding his temper? No problems with a thin skin? No problems with being triggered?

His lawyer mustve been a Holder prodigy.

Trump under pressure could be a real circus. This is a man who throws his potty around the room at the drop of a hat.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

Frankly, it matters zero whether he "would love to" or not. That's the magic of subpoenas.

Go Sessions! Lol

Gotta be huge panic amongst Trump's lawyers now. They've gotta:

sift through the mutually exclusive (and, where consistent, usually demonstrably false) statements;

We shall see, once the memos are released, looks like everyone is trying to hide, burn, shove things under the rub. Strzok and Page must’ve have an amazing sex parade. 5 months of pages missing? The dog? Dropped milk over it.

coach this man of infamous short attention span on likely questions and their answers (hint: picture books!);

Pictures are fun, you don’t like comics?

surmise what Mueller already knows from previous interviews to get their replies straight;

Probably

hope to God (probably pointlessly) that Trump sticks to the script.

Can you say "perjury"?

Won’t happen.
