I am not going to say that I like or admire Trump and what he stands for, but I will reserve judgment in matters like these. Some world leaders are maniacs, and there are times when maniacs can be defeated by persistent reason and diligent effort.

I am going to venture to say that the world has not had to confront a maniac with nuclear weapons yet. So maybe we DO need to try something different. Maybe we are beyond the lessons that we learned from the Cold War.

There are other times when you need bigger carrots and/or bigger sticks. Maybe Trump has finally met a problem that he can solve with his skill set. I would like to think that Trump understands Dennis Rodman better than I do, for instance, so maybe he understands something about Kim that we don't.
