McCarthyism all over again.

You seriously don't see any problem with a guy who met with the Russians and lied about it, staying part of the investigation into what happened with the Russians?

You always post so indignantly here, criticizing the MSM for supposed wrongdoings, then here you seem to be promoting a course of action that would look extremely suspicious. Recusing himself is the right thing to do. The investigation can still happen whether he is a part of it or not, and by recusing himself he ensures that if he didn't do anything wrong, there is no cloud over the result of an investigation that does so.

What would be the advantage of his not recusing himself?

Trump should just ignore the fake news

Which part is fake? What thing didn't actually happen that is being reported as having happend?

If the media is reporting false information, and making up things that didn't happen, they should be exposed, so let's call this out and be very clear on it. Fake news cannot be allowed to stand.

The problem being that right now all the news I'm reading says the same thing, so I'm not clear on what part they have made up and lied about. Please enlighten me so I can join you in calling them out for making up news to deceive the public.

Meanwhile Pence used a private email server while governor of Indiana, and was hacked. No where have we heard that kind of story before? Incompetence and hypocrisy wherever you look in Trumpton.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

@rbush McCarthyism all over again.

This time it's rightwing Russians working with rightwing Americans to undermine the US and its institutions, so I'd call it by a different name. The Nashi keyboard brigade members who call it McCarthyism add more fuel to the fire.

Trumpy voice"Jeff sessions is a terrific guy he's really really a good guy, he's done nothing wrong but the media and Obama is trying to attack him, that's unfair really unfair, Jeff sessions just wants to do his job but the media keeps attacking him, bad media very very bad"

Congressional Dems/MSM Accuse AG Sessions of Perjury.

The media made this up? You mean the congressional democrats didn't accuse Sessions of perjury?

And where has the MSM accused him of perjury? I've only seen them report that the democrats accused him of perjury.

Please, point me at the sources to show that the democrats didn't actually make this accusation, and/or that the media has made this accusation. Let's call out this fake news for what it is! Fake news MUST be stopped.

I wish Dems would have been as equally hawkish when Loretta Lynch wouldn't recuse herself from the Hillary investigation.

"I wish Dems would have been...?" What does that mean?

Remember, "double standards" doesn't apply to liberals.

I take it that after all the ranting about Hillary Clinton using private emails then, you will be just as damning about Mike Pence. Or do double standards not apply to you either?

8 ( +9 / -1 )

I've seen so many people jumping on the "he lied under oath" band-wagon. Sessions was asked if he had any meetings with Russian officials in REGARDS TO THE ELECTION

But you claimed 'fake news'. I don't see the article saying he lied. And you are talking about people's reactions to the article. I want to know which part of the reported news is fake, so that I can call out the fake news with you. We need to stop this epidemic of the MSM reporting things that are false, with an intent to deceive the people. But how can I do it when you won't tell me which part of the reporting didn't actually happen?

7 ( +13 / -6 )

I think I'll reserve judgement until I see more concrete information and less innuendo.

Most of us will - and that is why there needs to be an independent investigation - one Sessions has no part in. If there is nothing there, the Trump administration should welcome it.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

I don't consider someone getting into Podesta's email account with his password...literally "password"... to be "hacking", just poor security awareness.

Otherworldly, you're both factually and morally incorrect. Podesta and Powell's email accounts were both hacked by phishing (ironically, Clinton's server apparently was not due to stringent anti-phishing exercises).

Second, even if it had been simply guessing a password, that doesn't make it right. Please let me know where you live, and I'll likely find a way in and steal some of your stuff. If you complain, I can blame it on you for leaving the bath window unlocked. Let's see how that would go down in a court of law.

Russian "security" services run tens of thousands of phishing attacks yearly. Some are targeted for immediate purposes; others are bankrolled for future exigencies. The Russian practice of stockpiling compromising info for future use - "kompromat" - makes consideration of such material compromising against Trump plausible.

Every time anybody shakes this tree, something falls out of if.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Blacklabel, great analogy! Let's expand, shall we?

So I get home from work, and my wife, who is aware of a secretary with a problematic reputation, asks if I'd met her, and I answer point blank, "No."

Later, word gets back to her that, not only had I met her, but I had done so in my office. With the doors closed.

Perhaps it was all innocuous - we could have been discussing business issues. Perhaps it was not innocuous. Yet I lied to my wife. I could try to evade by claiming, for example, "Oh, did you say MEET?! I thought you meant MEAT!" or something silly like that, but the fact is that I had not been truthful. Not at all. I had lied, and we both knew it.

Having been married for 25 years, something tells me my wife would not easily dismiss this as "fake news."

7 ( +7 / -0 )

He met the Ambassador as a Senator which is SOP.

He likely did. But the problem is his claiming under oath that he didn't meet the ambassador. This looks very suspicious. If he leads the group that looks into the Russian issue, it will only create an air of suspicion on the entire process, same as when groups within the Japanese government run the investigation into supposed wrongdoing within their own groups.

In the name of transparency, the only way to ensure that the investigation does not have a cloud hanging over it was for Sessions to do what he did - recuse himself. It was the right thing to do.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

@otherworld "Russian election hacking" scheme

Do you have inside information saying that Russians were NOT involved in some form of election hacking? If so, please provide it. A Nashi source, Russia Today,Breitbart would be fine

In their attempts to erode Trump's ability to govern,

I'd rephrase that to say in attempts to keep Trump from taking on powers beyond those granted by the US Constitution, members of a free press are taking on the responsibility of trying to find the TRUTH so the public can have different perspectives on what is happening. Truth in this case requires assembling all facts as objectively as possible, not spinning them to make Trump (and Putin) look right.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Trump's attorney general recuses himself from any campaign probes

If he actually does, I have to believe whichever DOJ employees Bannon appoints to oversee this will still be taking marching orders from the White House. With, of course, assistance from oligarchs and their intelligence functionaries in Russia.

Fake news MUST be stopped.

Fully agree. But with the Rupert Murdoch global media empire, the Putin global media empire, Trump's rightwing hand man Bannon and so many alt right media outlets spinning outright lies, fake news and alternative facts while at the same time using their media powers to try to further convince Trump's followers that anything even remotely suggesting Trump's not perfect is - in their words - fake news, it seems like the world is stuck. The rightists are using their outlets in attempts to try to discredit and undermine a free press. The Nashi keyboard brigade member's many posts to this thread and others show how organized the opponents of a free press are.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Oh, without a doubt. Remember, "double standards" doesn't apply to liberals.

Laughable.

Sesssions called for perjury charges on Clinton, but he somehow is immune. Granted, perjury requires a showing of intent, but it was obvious he lied or lacked candor in answering the question. Candor is just as bad as lying for an attorney being asked questions under oath. He should also lose his law license or at least be reprimanded.

He did the right thing by recusing himself, but he only did it because the Fake Media caught him in a lie. Another strike against him.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Sounds like Lynch should have recused herself to me.

The fake news is the way an untrue narrative is built about something.

Nope. 'Fake' means something is false or untrue. 'Fake news' is news that is built around something fake or untrue. A narrative can be biased without being fake. If you try to include bias in fake news, then Fox "News" is entirely built of fake news, with literally every story they write. But many of their stories are biased, not fake.

It is specifically presented in a way to try to attach something nefarious to something that is a normal action with no ulterior motives.

That's biased news. Not fake news.

Fake news if I am a member of Trump administration: Blacklabel abandons his family at home at least 5 days of every week all day long. He has been seen in conversation with females which means he is more than likely seeking divorce. One woman looked unhappy to speak with him and never came back ever again after the conversation, he must have sexually harassed her before. His bank account has been identified as having money go into it every month, this needs to be investigated to see if a competitor is paying him to sell secrets.

If you were not leaving your family at home, or if you weren't seen in conversation with females, or a woman didn't look unhappy when speaking to you, or if your bank account didn't have money going into it, then this news would be fake. If all the above things actually happened, then it's biased news. And honestly, very sloppy as well - any organization that wrote their news in such a way should be condemned.

Do I do everything in the example? Yes!

Then it's not fake news.

Fake news is quite easy to identify, in that it makes claims of things that didn't actually happen.

the fake news by omission part of my example...

Again, there is no such thing as fake news by omission. That's biased (and sloppy) news. Not fake.

So I think I've quite clearly shown that you didn't understand the term (and hopefully do now), and that your previous claims in this thread to fake news are indeed not correct, as you haven't actually shown anything in the article that was reported that didn't happen.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

Bass4Funk:

Now I'm not defending Sessions, but I'm not condemning the man either, I just want Dems to be fair about this because, once again, they smell blood and are circling the boat and will do anything to get a morsel.

And of course, should a Democrat find themselves in this position you would want everyone to be fair about it. Right.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I agree with the recusal. No need to give the liberals more reason to run around screaming Russia! Russia! all day.

We're on the same page here. I would expect a democratic senator to recuse themselves in the same position.

Nothing in the article about the Dem senator who said she never EVER met with Russians as part of her job? But 5 mins later her own twitter showed she had at least twice?

I hadn't seen this, do you have more information on it?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

So this so called AG would prefer to openly lie to Americans than to reveal his suspicious Russian secret meetings and protect America's enemy? Trump has really got to be careful with his incompetent team as I get the feeling patriots may start taking proper action against these open traitors

5 ( +7 / -2 )

@Blacklabel

That was actually a really good explanation. I will be more careful when saying something is fake when it is actually biased.

I wish our President was as capable of recognizing his mistakes and correcting himself as you are.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

That was actually a really good explanation. I will be more careful when saying something is fake when it is actually biased. I will put the word fake back to things that never happened at all and leaved biased, twisted, and those kind of words for things like this article.

Thanks! It's nice to see when we can come together as a unified front.

That more than likely means he is planning to change from part time to full time interference/subversion as well.

After so many years of Trump's birtherism, it's kind of justified. Trump could likely stop a lot of it if he just apologized for heading the birther movement for so many years. I don't see that happening though.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Did you feel the same about Eric Holder?

Of course. As I said, perjury is difficult to prove and don't think it was proven with Holder, weeks vs. months, never any contact with Russia with Sessions???

You pointing at Holder is a head fake to a much larger concern, a Trump administration cozy with Russians during a campaign that Russia meddled in.

An outside government interfered with an election with possible complicity (bumbling or with actual intent) from the Trump campaign.

He did the right thing by recusing himself, but he only did it because the Fake Media caught him in a lie. Another strike against him. If it was indeed a lie.

The point is he only recused himself because he was caught in his statements. He would have stayed in the investigation otherwise. When in reality, he should have recused himself because he was a campaign surrogate. Recual is needed in cases of impropriety or perceived impropriety.

There a huge amount of perceived impropriety going on, not to mention absolute lying going on by the administration.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

What is being done now with all the classified info leaks, trying to remove perfectly competent members of the Cabinet, delaying confirmation of others, rioting and violence, it IS hurting the country.

As it did over the past eight years when the Republicans did the same thing.

Unfortunately, until the Republican party admits that it is guilty of these same things that it wants the Democrats to stop doing, the Democrats aren't likely to stop returning the 'favor'.

It's like a guy who cheated, then his wife cheats, and getting angry at her for cheating, without admitting that he did it, that he was wrong, and apologizing. If he doesn't do those things, she's not going to do them either.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

While I do see many faults with the American system of government I do admire the way that the operation of checks and balance digs in deep when something is amiss. Without this system Sessions would have just brushed this aside in a Putinesque manner. Claims of fake news etc. do not work when there is a robust system in place that aims to uncover the truth (even though at times it is for political reasons).

4 ( +5 / -1 )

the fake news narrative that he is doing something no one else does as a Senator.

Fake news must be condemned. Which news specifically was reported that isn't true? I want to stand with you and call out the "MSM" for reporting on something that isn't real, so please help me support you in your condemnation of this fake news. Let's put this fake news scourge to a stop. But first we need to clearly identify which items reported were made up by the media and not actually things that happened. Otherwise people will think we're just simply calling things we don't like 'fake news', rather than actually condemning things that are fake.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

I notice Yakyak has not bothered to point out which parts of the reported news is fake, so I think we can safely assume that he also was unclear on the meaning of fake news, and used the term incorrectly.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

She (and they) are really asking did anything else happen outside of that, which the answer is NO.

Blacklabel, you mentioned above that you'd prefer to wait for an investigation before jumping to conclusions yet then jump to a conclusion. Do you know what went on behind those closed doors? Of the 26 Armed Services Committee members, Sessions was apparently the only in 2016 to meet with Kislyak. (That is not to mention his first meeting, which occurred at a GOP event - and this brings the question: What was Kislyak doing at a GOP event?)

Sessions is no babe in the woods. As Attorney General nominee, he certainly knew the definition of "perjury." A veteran senator with long experience in investigations, he must have been aware of the questions he would be asked during his confirmation and the results he would face if caught not answering truthfully. And this came on the heels of Flynn's resignation, a red flag for this issue if there ever were one. Why would he have done such a stupid thing?

Why? One wonders. Perhaps someone should look into it.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

And you know this based on.....

It doesn't take a genius to see a common mechanization. There is that easier to see through those rose colored glasses:

News story (Flynn lied) => WH Denials/Fake News => GoP leaders (McCain and Graham) speak out => Flynn Fired News story (Sessions lied)=> WH Denials/Fake News => GoP leaders (McCain and Graham) speak out => Sessions Recusal

If the news stories never came out, it would be business as usual.

Ok, so with Holder as with Sessions, we really don't have concrete evidence, just a surmise Like I said, I wish you guys held Loretta Lynch to the same standards, but I know libs play by different rules.

Holder and Lynch are old news. I didn't like Fast and Furious then, and I don't like it now. However, what is happening now is even worse since it involves a foreign power and does not involve a Republican witch hunt (Clinton's email chase/Lynch).

Without a doubt. I'm holding off on criticism of Sessions because I just don't want to jump the gun just yet, because we don't know everything and to just speculate is something that I just don't think is wise at the moment.

I'm holding off judgment of Sessions as either a liar or an idiot. He is one or the other, and I don't think he is an idiot. I have other issues with Mr. Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III being a racist, but that is another matter.

What he should never have been doing is overseeing an investigation of the Trump campaign's involvement with Russia. He didn't need a news story to know that.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Pretty simple: He knowingly lied under oath. Get him out.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I wish Dems would have been as equally hawkish when Loretta Lynch wouldn't recuse herself from the Hillary investigation.

Why should she have recused herself? Honest question. What specifically had she done that would make her position potentially biased?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Russia's ambassador also met with Trump's son in law Jared and got to sit in on the joint address earlier this week, reports ABC News. Maybe some of Trump's gesturing was for his benefit? Might as well grant him a US passport with a cushy gonvernment job and be done with it.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

"Media vandalism" is a good way to describe what the mainstream media does. They are not professional journalists. They are a bunch of spoiled juveniles with cans of spray paint.

Are you going to tell us what was fake about the news?

3 ( +6 / -3 )

"Well, the standard for an Attorney General of the United States is not whether they have committed a crime. We should never have to even question whether the AG of the United States has committed a crime. If that is a serious question, then the occupant of the office is unfit for office. The crime that has clearly been committed has been committed by Russian operatives inside the United States. I'm not trying to save Western Civilization, I'm trying to protect my own country from Russian subversion that has been going on for decades . . . it's now going on in France. We need to work together to solve this problem. We cannot have an AG who is saying false things under oath and then arguing about whether it's a crime. That's irrelevant to the problem we confront, and that it's a serious threat to our democracy and that's what we need to be focusing on."

Richard Painter, Former White House Ehics Lawyer for Pres. George W. Bush

3 ( +4 / -1 )

and used the term incorrectly.

I don't think the meaning of 'fake news' matters to the Trump followers, other rightists and the Nashi bots who throw the meme around knowing it will get a reaction from their likeminded fellows. 'Fake news' is just another meme used to further erode trust in media, especially outlets reporting news that doesn't support their beliefs. Who's led the movement to undermine the media and other US institutions, be it rightists or Russians, has been fairly effective. They've used many forms of media to help grind down faith in media in general. That all media should always be questioned goes without saying.

But the destruction of a free press is something only a believer in totalitarian system could support. One of the ways they're destroying a free press is by removing any actual meaning from a term like fake news.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I don't think the meaning of 'fake news' matters to the Trump followers, other rightists and the Nashi bots who throw the meme around knowing it will get a reaction from their likeminded fellows.

For the most part, I agree. But give credit where it's due - see Blacklabel's comments above.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

@otherw It is a total witch hunt!"

The agitator in chief is using alarmist language to rile his followers and deflect a problem, i.e. the White House connections with Russians. Many Americans are concerned about Russian involvement in US politics. Russia does not have a system of checks and balances, instead it has an autocrat running the country. Most Americans want the system of checks and balances to remain in place, not cede power to the executive.

Russia does not have a free press. Most Americans want the press to remain free, to be allowed to report events from different perspectives. Most Americans want whistle blowers to be allowed to report problems.

Russians should worry about Russian problems, not get involved in other country's politics. Russia's otherworldly.

"Jeff Sessions is an honest man. He did not say anything wrong. He could have stated his response more accurately, but it was clearly not intentional. This whole narrative is a way of saving face for Democrats losing an election that everyone thought they were supposed to win. The Democrats are overplaying their hand. They lost the election and now, they have lost their grip on reality. The real story is all of the illegal leaks of classified and other information. It is a total witch hunt!"

Sounds like he's pretty focused on his goal of uniting both sides and not being small.

the question asked of Sessions is EXACTLY in the depth of the answer.

Someone qualified would have answered the question in a manner that wouldn't cause problems like this. The fact that he didn't realize he should be as clear as possible makes me question his ability to do his job.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

i actually don't think there is much fire with this smoke , but it does give the republicans a taste of their own medicine. clinton's servergate was totally blown out of proportion by them, and now the democrats are using the same playbook to cast a pall over the administration. as i said before, payback is a total b*tch.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

the Dem senator who said

Oh that rascally nameless dem senator! We all know that it matters so much that a nameless democratic senator met with a Russian because it was the democrats who were colluding with Russian operatives to help them win the election... oh wait! That was Trump and his team! That's why this matters you see. But you don't care about Russian interference in the election because they helped your guy win. Hypocrite.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Yeah... "I did nothing wrong", except LIE UNDER OATH.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It's getting predictable. What do the rich talk about? Whether International or otherwise? Money. Investments. The billionaires in Russia are hedging their bets by buying ultra high end properties in the states. So do the Saudi's, Chinese, and Japanese. And guess what Trump's an expert on? We're not looking from the inside out. These guys play up in the clouds. If it gets a little heavy up there, a little acid rain on the rest of us should clear the pipes. Sessions, Bannon, the foreign diplomats, what'shisface, Mr. Ex-Exon, are men vaulted by their positions by the vanity of their power. They are not your next door neighbors. So, if Sessions is the subject, let's take a good look at him and his record. Not Bill Clinton. We already did him.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

with the Rupert Murdoch global media empire, the Putin global media empire, Trump's rightwing hand man Bannon and so many alt right media outlets spinning outright lies, fake news and alternative facts while at the same time using their media powers to try to further convince Trump's followers that anything even remotely suggesting Trump's not perfect is - in their words - fake news, it seems like the world is stuck.

I agree, fake news needs to be stopped on both sides. Right now we have a claim that somehow this current issue is reporting some false information that didn't occur, so that's what I'm focusing on now. We cannot tell others to not report fake news, if we are not also condemning our side for doing the same. So I'm fully ready to condemn the "MSM" for reporting fake news on this issue. And according to YakYak:

Trump should just ignore the fake news

So it seems that there is somehow some false information being relayed about this current topic. But neither yakyak nor anyone else has yet shown us which part of the reporting is false and didn't happen.

I don't think they would just say the words 'fake news' without their being something false that was being reported on. But the problem I'm having here is knowing which part of the reported news was false, so that I can join them in condemning the MSM for making up lies and reporting them, thereby providing a united front on both the right and left letting all news outlets know that we are not willing to accept fake news anymore.

They wouldn't just be saying 'fake news' without their actually being something fake in the news would they? I refuse to believe they would do that.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

it's fake news by omission

There is no such thing. 'Fake' means 'not real'. Therefore 'fake news' is reporting something that is not real. If it was not reported at all, that's not fake news, that's biased news.

She met the husband (who was also a former president) of a suspect in a probe that was exploring the selling of state secrets and government access.

That definitely sounds suspicious.

I wish Dems would have been as equally hawkish when Loretta Lynch wouldn't recuse herself from the Hillary investigation.

That's Trump's fault. He broke his promise by not having Hillary arrested after he was elected.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

If they really believe talking with Russian representatives is right, they should stop lying or misdirecting about it, especially not under oath. Just be open about it - no beating around the bush.

Even Trump admits he did not know about Session's rendezvous.

If there's nothing to hide, then don't hide anything.

Even Republicans think that Sessions should recuse himself so that the investigation won't be tainted. Sessions was a member of Congressional committee that dealt with these affairs, but he was the only one of that committee who met with Russians last year.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

The conservatives are in power. This means many Americans don't care if Russia is different from us. So what? Many Americans know that free press can be measured on a spectrum. It's all relative. Many Americans could care less about Russian hacking because it doesn't affect our daily lives and our government is doing the same thing. Many Americans want autocrats running 3rd and old world countries because we've seen what happens when you have a 'Democratic Spring'...death and destruction, yes? "Most Americans want the system of checks and balances to remain in place, not cede power to the executive." Ok on this one.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

"Media vandalism" is a good way to describe what the mainstream media does. They are not professional journalists. They are a bunch of spoiled juveniles with cans of spray paint.

He wouldn't be the first, the last 2 administrations were pros at it, give him some time.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

@strangerland. She met the husband (who was also a former president) of a suspect in a probe that was exploring the selling of state secrets and government access.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

@Laguna in that case my answer would be YES. But its a sloppy question that doesnt ask what she really wants to know. I know that when she asks about met, she knows we have met as part of my job. Same as Senators knew Sessions met as part of his. She (and they) are really asking did anything else happen outside of that, which the answer is NO.

The Sessions questions, they asked him specifically about the campaign or as a campaign surrogate. Should he have reminded them that he did have conversations with him not about the campaign but as part of his actual job? Yes, but they have the same job as he does and they know that already. So its an out of context question that now allows the answer to be taken out of context as a gotcha! moment as well.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

No, she is a criminal.

For once you are sooooo right. You won't hear any arguments from me. lol

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

OK, Sessions lied and he's gone. That's fair. You cannot lie under oath to Congress during a confirmation hearing and get away with it. However I would like to point out to all the Trump haters that Sessions DID remove himself while a Democratic Attorney General met with the husband of a Democratic candidate who was being investigated for "pay-to-play" tactics (that means selling state secrets which a crime in line with treason) and nothing, nada, zilch happened to the Democrat.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

I did nothing wrong...except illegally cross the border. But these people are somehow ok, supported by liberals to stay unless proven to have done a serious crime (DUI, fraud and theft are not somehow). They are even invited to Congress as official guests by Pelosi.

Its the same thing with Sessions until it is proven that he actually did something wrong (other than give an out of context answer to an out of context question).

**Committee Chairman Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R., Va.) mentioned Lynch’s professional connection with the Clintons and then asked why she did not recuse herself from the case.

“Why did you not see fit to recuse yourself from the investigation?” Goodlatte asked. “Wouldn’t recusal or appointment of a special prosecutor have removed any appearance of impropriety given your service during Bill Clinton’s presidency?”

“As I’ve said on several occasions before, when the referral came into the Department of Justice, it was received and referred to experienced, dedicated career agents and prosecutors who handle matters of this type every day, with independence, with efficiency, with thoroughness and the matter was handled like any other matter,” Lynch said. “It was reviewed through the chain by those independent career agents and prosecutors. And in considering the matter, there was no connection, there was no need for a recusal or an independent prosecutor.”**

Goodlatte also asked Lynch about her private meeting on her plane with Bill Clinton in Phoenix, Arizona. The meeting took place days before FBI Director James Comey gave his recommendation not to prosecute Clinton, although he gave a searing criticism of Clinton’s handling of classified information. With respect to my conversation that I had with former President Clinton in Phoenix, it was a conversation that was held on the airplane, on the tarmac,” Lynch said. “The former president indicated he wanted to say hello and I agreed to say hello and we had a social conversation. “Nothing of any relationship to the email investigation was discussed, nor were any specific cases or matters before the Department of Justice discussed,” she added.

You have to be from Mars to have believed that crap! Meeting with Bill Clinton, so ironic going on the same helicopter, giving that lame excuse they were talking about their grandkids.....sure...of course, she should have, but it's ok, Hillary didn't become president, so water under the bridge.

The the fake news by omission part of my example is that it is not mentioned that everyone else is married, leaves their family to come to work, gets paid on the 25th, talks to the secretaries and agreed with the firing. Me, its fake news presented like I mentioned. Everyone else simply went to work and did what they supposed to do at work. The facts are real but the presentation is purposely fake to get the reader/hearer to have the desired reaction.

That was actually a really good explanation. I will be more careful when saying something is fake when it is actually biased. I will put the word fake back to things that never happened at all and leaved biased, twisted, and those kind of words for things like this article.

Sadly, I think this will all get worse as now Obama has moved his ex Chief of Staff into his own personal home. That more than likely means he is planning to change from part time to full time interference/subversion as well.

Of course. As I said, perjury is difficult to prove and don't think it was proven with Holder, weeks vs. months, never any contact with Russia with Sessions???

Ok, so with Holder as with Sessions, we really don't have concrete evidence, just a surmise.

You pointing at Holder is a head fake to a much larger concern, a Trump administration cozy with Russians during a campaign that Russia meddled in.

Yeah, that's how the left would see it, but where is the proof.

An outside government interfered with an election with possible complicity (bumbling or with actual intent) from the Trump campaign.

Yes, but to what level is not known, because if there were hard-hitting evidence, some people would have been in prison a long time ago.

The point is he only recused himself because he was caught in his statements.

And you know this based on.....

He would have stayed in the investigation otherwise. When in reality, he should have recused himself because he was a campaign surrogate. Recual is needed in cases of impropriety or perceived impropriety.

Like I said, I wish you guys held Loretta Lynch to the same standards, but I know libs play by different rules.

There a huge amount of perceived impropriety going on, not to mention absolute lying going on by the administration.

Are you serious?? If you believe that, then you really must've hated the Obama admin. where lying was a culinary art.

And of course, should a Democrat find themselves in this position you would want everyone to be fair about it. Right.

Without a doubt. I'm holding off on criticism of Sessions because I just don't want to jump the gun just yet, because we don't know everything and to just speculate is something that I just don't think is wise at the moment.

Hypocrisy at its finest. No one remembers Obama and his let me get elected again first then I will have flexibilityselling out of the American people to the Russian Ambassador and Putin. We still to this day dont know what he actually did with his newly won flexibility in the 2nd term. Sold them uranium? Drew a line in the sand and then did nothing when it was crossed? Let them shoot down an airliner while doing nothing? Who knows now?

Pelosi brings illegal aliens to Congress. Schumer met with and praised Vladimir Putin in 2003. Dem congresswoman lied about meeting the Ambassador too. Russia didnt hack the DNC it was 3 Muslims hired to do their IT who accessed all the classified files and probably shared them to get the SEAL guy in Yemen killed. On and on, but it looks like sour grapes if anything is done about it now.

Trump shouldn't worry so much about the Dems, Pelosi especially, she is as bad as Reid was, so the only thing Trump should be focusing on is getting the rest of his cabinet together and working on healthcare and let these loons babble, it's the only thing they can really do at this point.

I agree with the recusal. No need to give the liberals more reason to run around screaming Russia! Russia! all day. It is becoming more and more apparent that Obama and his people were wiretapping and monitoring the movements of anyone related to Trump before and after he won. Then anytime Trump tries to unify and move forward just drop another leak from months ago to deflect.

"Organizing America" doesn't that name ironically ring a bell?

Nothing in the article about the Dem senator who said she never EVER met with Russians as part of her job? But 5 mins later her own twitter showed she had at least twice? Can't make this stupid stuff up. In such a hurry to try to pin something on Trump they don't even look at themselves first. So it's fake news by omission, they never tell the whole story of anything just the parts that fit the narrative.

They should appoint a special prosecutor and see where it goes and when nothing turns up, the Dems will have once again egg on their faces, they never try to learn and never will. Smh.

The fake news is the way an untrue narrative is built about something. It is specifically presented in a way to try to attach something nefarious to something that is a normal action with no ulterior motives.

Example: I got to work Monday-Friday from 9 to 6. I have a family, who stay home while I work. I have females in my office and I get a paycheck every 25th. I recently had to fire a lady for filing false financial claims to the company. None of these things are uncommon to anyone else who works in my office, and probably not uncommon for anyone who has a job.

Do I do everything in the example? Yes! But the way it is presented about me (and only me) is fake news.

Remember when the democrats called for Loretta Lynch to recuse herself from taking part in the HRC email issue after meeting with her husband on Lynch's plane at the airport in Arizona last summer?

Neither do I. . . . .

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

Then why not just say that when answering. Just bad decision-making on his part, especially when Flynn admitted to lying about his contacts.

I don't know and I don't believe we have the right criticize or judge the man without knowing what he was thinking or motives were.

And who the hell describes meeting an ambassador as having no contact because your job function for that meeting was different? That's just not something people would assume.

People can assume what they want, doesn't make it true.

Trump's people already have a trust issue.

Really? No one would've ever guessed that one.

The good news for them is that their obsession with trustworthiness went out the window when Clinton wasn't elected. Now they are fine with it as long as Trump keeps out the violent, raping minorities.

What a bunch of laughable nonsense.

Desperation time as Obama, his holdovers in the Deep State, the Democrats and their media arm ( =MSM), continue their ever more frantic attempts to undermine the Trump Presidency. Trump should just ignore the fake news and focus on making America great again.

-11 ( +4 / -15 )

Which part is fake? What thing didn't actually happen that is being reported as having happend?

I've seen so many people jumping on the "he lied under oath" band-wagon. Sessions was asked if he had any meetings with Russian officials in REGARDS TO THE ELECTION. Since no one knows, at this time, what his meeting was about he can answer "No" to that question. Maybe they can subpoena his two senior staff that were with him at the time. He was a member of the Armed Services Committee in the Senate. So, it seems not out of the ordinary to be having contacts with ambassadors. He met with Polish and Japanese ambassadors too.

I've seen reports (New York Times) of Trump "associates" having contacts with Russians. What is their definition of "associates"? People he knows? People with whom he's conducted business in the past? People directly involved in his campaign? And specifically, WHICH Russians?? Russian business persons? Russian government representatives? The same report stated many of Trump's "associates" have business interests in Russian and no one knows the CONTENT of any of these meetings.

I'm aware of anonymous leaks of intelligence monitored conversations of Russians in which they discussed how much influence they might have in U.S. elections. Yet U.S. intelligence committee has still not received any evidence to show direct tamping of the U.S. election. I don't consider someone getting into Podesta's email account with his password...literally "password"... to be "hacking", just poor security awareness. There's a lot more to "hacking" than simply guessing a password. The Democrat National Committee is not our government any more than the Green Party of the US Communist Party; they are a political group. Was it illegal for someone to access his account? Yep. But again, we've not found any evidence of who was directly responsible for that fiasco. It's highly unlikely Assange is going to give up his sources.

Many news outlets that are trying to fan this into a fire and shape public opinion have a history of showing blatant bias in their reporting.

I think I'll reserve judgement until I see more concrete information and less innuendo.

Listen carefully to the exchange.

Congressional Dems/MSM Accuse AG Sessions of Perjury.

Sesssions called for perjury charges on Clinton, but he somehow is immune. Granted, perjury requires a showing of intent, but it was obvious he lied or lacked candor in answering the question.

And so did Lynch. Now I'm not defending Sessions, but I'm not condemning the man either, I just want Dems to be fair about this because, once again, they smell blood and are circling the boat and will do anything to get a morsel.

Candor is just as bad as lying for an attorney being asked questions under oath. He should also lose his law license or at least be reprimanded.

Did you feel the same about Eric Holder?

He did the right thing by recusing himself, but he only did it because the Fake Media caught him in a lie. Another strike against him.

If it was indeed a lie.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

What is being done now with all the classified info leaks, trying to remove perfectly competent members of the Cabinet, delaying confirmation of others, rioting and violence, it IS hurting the country.

-12 ( +0 / -12 )

Democrats are playing a dangerous game with national security repercussions. In essence, they are accusing the Russian Ambassador of being party to some elusive "Russian election hacking" scheme. It should be clear to anyone that they do not have the best interests of their constituents or this country at heart when they politicize diplomatic relations with Russia. In their attempts to erode Trump's ability to govern, they have only paraded their own incompetency and undermined the vital work of the State Department.

-13 ( +6 / -19 )

He met the Ambassador as a Senator which is SOP. The Dems are just looking for anything to go on about. Pelosi and Watters sound like naggy wives. They can`t stop yapping away about revenge. They seem so miserable. Get them out.

-14 ( +3 / -17 )

I wish Dems would have been as equally hawkish when Loretta Lynch wouldn't recuse herself from the Hillary investigation.

Desperation time as Obama, his holdovers in the Deep State, the Democrats and their media arm ( =MSM), continue their ever more frantic attempts to undermine the Trump Presidency. Trump should just ignore the fake news and focus on making America great again.

Oh, without a doubt. Remember, "double standards" doesn't apply to liberals.
