Basically, the US taxpayers will front the billion$$ of money for the wall, then have Mexico reimburse them later................................................

OK, when was the last time someone believed that and didn't lose their shirt, heheheheh

(Ya gonna lose your shirt, US taxpayers, lol. A wall may well be built, but it'll be your money paying for it.)

Don't forget a rule of doing business - don't front that kind of money unless ya have it in writing what's definitely gonna happen (at best, ya may still get some money back, but it won't be close to what ya fronted)

Have it in solid writing first

Trump will made it! If he take note from Bush Jr of how to exaggerate a preceieved threat. This time is Mexico!

“The facts have not changed. Building a wall is the most expensive and least effective way to secure the border,” said GOP Rep. Will Hurd, whose sprawling West Texas swing district encompasses more than 800 miles of the border. “Many areas in my district are perfect examples of where a wall is unnecessary and would negatively impact the environment, private property rights and economy.”

So much for right wingers on this site saying that the border people want the wall. Which is further evidenced by this:

When former President George W. Bush tried to build border fencing starting in 2006 he faced stiff opposition from local ranchers and farmers, many of whom took the government to court on plans to use their land.

So is Trump going to use eminent domain laws to take these people's property to build the wall to protect the land that he's taking away from them?

As I posted in the other thread, build a portion of it, claim mission accomplished.

Heh, Reality check?

Reality is the sworn enemy of the Republiworld.

Remember how they all screamed to destroy Iraq and then blamed it on Obama? And then cheered on Trump as he ran on a platform that said invading Iraq was "the worst decision the USA ever made"?

The Republican party is insane.

I know. DT is going to release his tax records and it will become clear he owes billions of dollars which he is going to use to privately build the wall, TY DT for your generosity.

The great wall of China is much longer.

Perhaps the paying for the wall is not to be taken directly, but in some other form for Mexico to pay. Trump has an open mind and unique solutions so I'm sure he will find a way that might even be surprising.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

The function of the wall will change. It will be to keep Americans from escaping to Mexico as Trump's USA implodes. Then Mexico will gladly pay and even add to the wall (to keep Americans from getting in through the Gulf of Mexico).

Insofar as the problem is a physical barrier, we’ve basically addressed that issue,” said Rep. David Price, D-N.C., who chaired the congressional panel that funded the border fence when Democrats controlled Congress. “This focus, this fixation on a wall and pouring untold billions of dollars into a wall is foolishness.”

Yep. But Trump and his fans have an emotional attachment to the wall and feel anxiety unless we waste the money, so we're going to go ahead and waste the money.

Right, and that's coming from a Texas Republican. I always knew there really was such a thing as a smart, sane conservative.

So much for right wingers on this site saying that the border people want the wall. Which is further evidenced by this:

Wait there have always been a large contingent of "right wingers" in the Republican party that are in favor of exploiting cheap labor coming over the border from Mexico. But there are plenty of border state residents that want an end to the illegal immigrants trashing their property, committing crimes, trafficking in human beings, and bringing in drugs. These people are just trying to survive and could case less about party labels.

So is Trump going to use eminent domain laws to take these people's property to build the wall to protect the land that he's taking away from them?

I sure hope so - this is what eminent domain is for. As opposed to declaring peoples homes "blighted" and taking them to build shopping centers and hotels.

Trump is boss. He just told the Mexican president if he not paying for the wall then just cancel the visit next week. The Mexican president said he is only interested in deals that benefit Mexico the most so Trump has no time for that.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

'Deals that benefit Mexico'

Every time a new fence or wall is built, more American territory is ceded to Mexico. For example, obviously Mexico will not allow a wall south of the Rio Grande. So gringos build it some distance to the north straight over ticked off ranchers' land. Smart thinking all around, no?

Great wall of China was built centuries ago (even it is not really built from scratch but rather joining already existing walls into 1), with the current technology and machines, I am sure the "Great wall of US-Mexico" can be built even faster. (money aside.) Assuming the wall actually got built, then what is he going to do with the tunnels?

2006 was a long time ago, the country has changed, Trump is NOT a Washington establishment politician, the politics has changed, the media has changed and options have changed and people like myself that live close to the border, to see this slowly come to fruition is long overdo!

So is Trump going to use eminent domain laws to take these people's property to build the wall to protect the land that he's taking away from them?

I hope he does whatever it takes to secure the borders. No borders, No country, No country, you have anarchy!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

How many tunnels will be built under that wall? Fool!

How many tunnels will be built under that wall? Fool!

How many infrared flying drones and German shepherds will they have?

Bully thy neighbours and believe it can live happily alone, the US is hitting the wall and turns back running. Where is the land of the free? Here comes a budding authoritarian state that we love to hate. Isolated and alliance crumbling, yes, “American first” who cares about other nations. It’s like a struggling fish in a shallow water where it tries to build an embankment hoping the water will get higher. Just hope that the wall can be seen on the moon and a hundred years from now it can be served as a tourist attraction.

Remember, Donald Trump wasn't politician and he doesn't care voters if it was benefited for all American peoples. Politicians are always afraid of backlash from voters in their electorate. So the politicians scare of minority group and minority peoples are becoming powerful in America, UK, EU and Australia. If you live in US, EU, UK and Australia and then you understand what I mean.

Think about it, as a real estate mogul businessman, Trump would never do this in his own business.

Anywhere in the world, Trump would never build a casino, with his own money, on the promise that he would be reimbursed by a government later. (And he doesn't even get a government promise of reimbursement here - in fact, it's the promise of the opposite.)

So why is he doing it with his countrymen's own money when he wouldn't do it in his own business?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Bully thy neighbours and believe it can live happily alone,

But it's ok for Mexicans and other illegals to come in anytime they want, that's acceptable? I think that's bullying!

the US is hitting the wall and turns back running. Where is the land of the free?

Trump just imposed a 20% import tax on Mexico, that's not running, that's hitting it head-on! And it's the land of the free as long as your legal, please come.

Here comes a budding authoritarian state that we love to hate. Isolated and alliance crumbling, yes, “American first” who cares about other nations.

How many nations ever stuck its neck out to send aid, food or even weapons to help us? Help goes both ways.

It’s like a struggling fish in a shallow water where it tries to build an embankment hoping the water will get higher. Just hope that the wall can be seen on the moon and a hundred years from now it can be served as a tourist attraction.

As long as it does its job, I'm good.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

On the plus side for Trump, think of all the jobs that will be generated for American workers. Anyway, there are more people returning to Mexico than entering. And as I have said, the wall will function mainly to keep out Americans who are escaping Trump's imploding USA.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Hahahaha!!! You made your beds, Americans... you'll all suffer for it soon enough.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

But it's ok for Mexicans and other illegals to come in anytime they want, that's acceptable? I think that's bullying!

That's the brain dead mentality of the Left. Other countries can think of themselves first by allowing their people to come to the US illegally. But when American's start to insist that foreigners respect their laws they suddenly are a bunch of bigots? It makes no sense. Mexico and other Central and South America countries look out for their own national interests by actually encouraging their unemployed to go to the US and work illegally and send money back to support their economy. America get's tired of being used and wants to end that arrangement and now Mexico get's all mad about it. It's like the welfare recipient who has been on the dole for 20 years and then when you ask him to work for his free money he gets pissed and demands justice! It's beyond ridiculous.

Hahahaha!!! You made your beds, Americans... you'll all suffer for it soon enough.

I don't consider it suffering for the uninvited guy to leave my bed for me and my countrymen to sleep in ourselves. That just leaves a bit more room for the folks that paid for the bed to enjoy. Meanwhile, I don't have to worry about anyone getting killed by an illegal drunk driver or losing their job (or suppressing wages) due to the presence of a low paid illegal worker. Come in legally and it's all good. That's all any country can ask.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Hahahaha!!! You made your beds, Americans... you'll all suffer for it soon enough.

No, America has been suffering from Mexico's lucrative open borders arrangement for almost 40 years, now the people don't need to worry about suffering anymore.
